SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: Baptisms are celebrated every second and fourth Sunday of the month at 1:15 PM. Pre-Baptismal Seminar—The third Monday of every month at 7:00 PM. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Weddings should be arranged at least six months prior to the anticipated date. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment to assist you in beginning this sacrament. ANOINTING OF THE SICK: First Sunday of each Month after every Mass. . BLESSING OF EXPECTANT PARENTS: Third Sunday of each Month after every Mass. . 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER When someone we love passes from the earth, it is a very hard and sad time. Nothing said or done can really take that pain away. Sometimes we get confused as to why they had to pass from this life. Sometimes we even allow it to shake our Faith. Today’s Gospel is very comforting. Jesus begins by explaining that the Father and Jesus Himself will come and make their dwelling with us. He also speaks of the Holy Spirit being in us as He continues His discussion. Then Jesus says something incredible, “I am going away….. if you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father.” If we put all these thoughts together, Jesus is explaining that, in Faith, He and the Father and the Holy Spirit are one with us. He is already one with the Father and He wants His disciples to rejoice that He is going home to the Father. If we truly believe in all that Jesus teaches us, then we too should rejoice for our loved ones as they enter into that oneness with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever. Yes we are sad for ourselves, but in Faith we must rejoice for them. May Crowning If you have ever been to Our May Crowning, you know it is simply the most beautiful celebration of Mary as Queen. Mrs. Prestogeorge, Josh Bandish and the children work very hard to make this a special devotion to honor Mary. It is so important for us to honor our Mary as our Queen. Please join the children and come to the May Crowning today at 1:15PM. Holy Day of Obligation – this Thursday, May 5, is Ascension Thursday. Masses are Wednesday evening at 7:00PM, Thursday at 7:15AM, 9:30AM, 12:00Noon, and 7:00PM. NEW Parish Office Hours I am sure we are all aware that the Eucharist is the Center of our Life. In order to ensure total devotion and respect to Our Lord In the Eucharist, the office will not be open during weekday morning Masses. This will ensure that if we are on campus between 9:30-10:00AM on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, our attention will be directed only towards the Eucharist. Even if you see someone in the office during this time, the door will be locked and no business will be attended to. The New Hours are: Monday and Wednesday 10:00AM – 7:00PM Tuesday and Thursday 9:00AM – 7:00PM Friday 10:00AM – 1:00PM St. Sharbel Relics at Our Lady of Victory Church -- a two-day ritual of devotion to St. Sharbel, the Lebanese saint whose miracles continue to astound the world. First-class relics of the saint, which have been traveling throughout the world, will arrive at the church on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 and remain until Friday, May 20, 2016. Various devotions will take place at the Church at 1000 Lindsay Road in Carnegie. For more information contact Our Lady Of Victory Church at 412. 278.0841 or www.olovpittsburgh.org. Preparation for Pentecost. The nine days between Ascension and Pentecost was the first novena of the Church. Jesus told the apostles and disciples to pray for the Spirit. The following is one of many novenas that can be prayed in preparation of Pentecost. Pentecost Novena (May 6-14) Come, Holy Spirit, come, and from your celestial home shed a ray of light divine. Come, Father of the poor, Come, source of all our store. Come, within our bosoms shine. You, of comforters best; You the soul's most welcome guest. Sweet refreshment here below. In our labor, rest most sweet; Grateful coolness in the heat; Solace in the midst of woe. O most Blessed Light Divine, shine within these hearts of thine, and our inmost being fill. Where you are not, man has naught. Nothing good in deed or thought Nothing free from taint of ill. Heal our wounds, our strength renew; On our dryness pour your dew; Wash the stains of guilt away. Bend the stubborn heart and will. Melt the frozen, warm the chill. Guide the steps that go astray. On the faithful, who adore. And confess you, evermore. In Your sev'nfold gift descend. Give us virtue's sure reward. Give us your salvation, Lord. Give us joys that never end. Amen. Alleluia. Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit Blessed Spirit of Wisdom, help me to seek God. Make Him the center of my life and order my life to Him, so Blessed Spirit of Understanding, enlighten my mind, that I may know and love the truths of faith and make them truly my own. Blessed Spirit of Counsel, enlighten and guide me in all my ways, that I may always know and do Your holy Will. Make me prudent and courageous. Blessed Spirit of Fortitude, uphold my soul in every time of trouble or adversity. Make me loyal and confident. Blessed Spirit of Knowledge, help me to know good from evil. Teach me to do what is right in the sight of God. Give me clear vision and firmness in decision. Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart, incline it to a true faith in You, to a holy love of You, my God, that with my whole soul I may seek You, Who are my Father, and find You, my best, my truest joy. Blessed Spirit of Holy Fear, penetrate my inmost heart that I may ever be mindful of Your presence. Make me fly from sin, and give me intense reverence for God and for my fellow men who are made in God’s image. Pentecost Prayer: Spirit of Christ, stir me; Spirit of Christ, move me; Spirit of Christ, fill me; Spirit of Christ, seal me. Consecrate in me Your Heart and Will, O Heavenly Father. Create in me a fountain of virtues. Seal my soul as Your own, that Your reflection in me may be a light for all to see. Amen. Peace of Christ, Fr. Tony ST.
