 “THE PHILHARMONICS”: SEVEN VIENNESE ON MUSICAL STROLLS THROUGH VARIOUS GENRES The Philharmonics – from classical and klezmer to Gypsy and Latin jazz THE PHILHARMONICS Recorded at the Wiener Konzerthaus May 5, 2015 A musical journey with THE PHILHARMONICS TOUR DU MONDE WITH THE PHILHARMONICS "The Philharmonics," an ensemble with members from the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics that has recently seen much success, give musical treasures especially from the fading imperial and royal period new life. The seven musicians perform a variety of music from classical and klezmer to Gypsy and Latin Jazz – an intoxicating mix of styles with a captivating sound and diverse harmonies complete with brilliant instrumental ornamentation. As these musicians walk the line between various genres in celebration of the summer solstice, listeners will experience Viennese flair and warm cordiality at its finest – and at the highest musical level. The programme weaves itself around the “K & K Rhapsody,” a medley arranged by Tibor Kováč and František Jánoška with allusions to six of the most important pieces of this very period. This is enveloped by pieces from Fritz Kreisler, Johannes Brahms, Johann Strauss and others.
