Spring Quarter 2016
Using the visual materials
Visual aids assist the teacher in presenting the lesson and aid the student in the learning process. The visual aids
consist of one quarterly theme poster, “An Introduction to the Bible, the Book of Books!” “The Divine Library”
Poster and three unit posters that are simple, colorful reminders of the theme of each unit, thirteen lesson posters
and twenty-six photomasters that may be used as overhead transparencies or copied and handed out to the students.
The quarterly theme poster should be put up at the beginning of the quarter and left up throughout the quarter.
The three unit posters will be posted across the bottom, under the theme poster. Unit posters are to be posted at the
beginning of a unit and remain up throughout the quarter with the weekly lesson posters that belong to each unit
posted under them.
UNIT POSTERS
Before beginning a unit of study, place these posters in a prominent place on the classroom wall. Allow enough room
for the lesson posters that relate to each unit to be placed under the appropriate unit poster.
UNIT 1
The four lessons in Unit 1, “Getting Acquainted with the Bible,” examine the origin of the Bible.
UNIT 2
The five lessons in Unit 2, “The Bible for Today,” teach the student that the Bible is the absolute authority of God’s
people and can help them meet the special problems they face in today’s society. The poster reminds students that the
Bible is a book for today.
UNIT 3
The four lessons in Unit 3, “The Bible for Tomorrow,” focus the students’ attention on future events. The poster
should assure the young teens that the Bible is a book for the future.
LESSON POSTERS AND VISUALS
Lesson posters should be positioned under the appropriate unit poster each week.
LESSON 1
Lesson 1 Poster declares that the Bible is a divinely revealed book. Photomaster 1-1 defines the word revelation as it
relates to the Bible and may be used as a handout or as a transparency. Hand out copies of Photomaster 1-2. Students
should read the Scripture passages and in three minutes list as many truths as possible from each. Use “The Divine
Library” Poster with the lessons in Unit 1. It lists men who wrote the Bible, the approximate time each book was written, the place from where it was written and the language in which it was originally written.
LESSON 2
Lesson 2 Poster is a reminder that the Bible was written by godly men who were inspired by God. Hand out copies
of Photomaster 2-1 which give four proofs that the Bible is God’s Word. Copy and hand out Photomaster 2-2 and have
students list four facts they have learned about the Bible.
LESSON 3
Lesson 3 Poster calls attention to the fact that God provides divine illumination to help us understand the Bible.
Hand out copies of Photomaster 3-1. Have students read the passages listed and pick out the word(s) or phrase(s) in
each that speak(s) of illumination. Hand out copies of Photomaster 3-2 and have students try to answer the questions.
