Dadi Janki, Co-Administrative head of the Brahma Kumaris (BKs)
travels the world on a mission of service and peace-making simply by helping
people to find inner peace. She is truly one of the best examples of being the
change that you want to see in the world. At almost 90 years old she has
incredible energy and a full-on schedule of meetings overseeing the
organisation’s 7,000 centres. By any standard that is inspiring, but it is not
just her accomplishments that make her a role model, it is the power of her
presence. Dadi (means elder sister) is a world-renowned spiritual leader
reaching audiences of thousands on one day and meeting Presidents and
Prime Ministers the next. (more about Dadi overleaf).

BRAHMA KUMARIS WORLD SPIRITUAL UNIVERSITY
The Brahma Kumaris are a wonderful resource in
this time of great change. Formed in India in 1936, the
global movement is run by women as a multi-faith
educational network to teach people of any religion
spiritual knowledge. Their
belief is that if we can learn
to manage ourselves better
and understand our true
nature then we will have a
far better chance of
discovering joy, happiness
and inner peace. Peace in the world will simply be an
extension of who we are being rather than what we are
doing. I have had the privilege to visit the BK
headquarters in India to benefit from the incredible
education programmes they
offer for free. My aim in cohosting this day is for you to
connect with Dadi Janki so
she can be a resource in your
life too. For more info:

A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN
ON 8 NOV 2005
THE WORLD NEEDS WOMEN TO SHOW UP IN THEIR POWER
The purpose of this day is to connect as many
women as possible with Dadi Janki to learn from
her what it means to be a woman in the world
today. The world is on a trajectory of very fast
change. A new world order has the potential to be
created, indeed that seems to be heading our way
whether or not we choose to take part. What kind
of ‘better world’ do we want to see replace the one
we have? What kind of role would we like to play in
this unfolding future? How can we prepare
ourselves and our children?
the new world she said “Women should make their
home as heaven”. She emphasised that change starts
in the home and reminded me of the valuable
contribution women can make simply at home.
What a wonderful concept, to create heaven on
earth in this way. Her insight has since called me to
action. I now host Women’s Wellness Retreats at
my healthy home in Yorkshire. I share practical
ways to create heaven at home and work alongside
a teacher from the Brahma Kumaris who provides
the spiritual education in the programme.
Women have natural skills that the world needs
more of: compassion, nurturing, caring, listening,
sharing and networking. We have the capacity to
provide leadership in midwifing a new world into
being, offering partnership to the current
masculine approach. We can help male-dominated
systems to embrace more feminine ways that will
serve society, organisations and governments
better.
I encourage you to clear your diary for the
afternoon of November 8th.. Bring other women.
Let’s get together in the presence of this incredible
woman and share how we think we can help create
a better world - together. See you in London then!!
When a group of nearly 200 of us gathered in
May this year to meet Dadi Janki we had profound
discussions and many deep and meaningful
connections were made. Many women have since
gone on to utilise the many resources that the BKs
provide. This day in November will be equally
wonderful and I know we will develop further the
conversations we started then. Join us again!
Dadi Janki has been a real inspiration to me.
Although she did not know my life’s work is
teaching people about healthy homes, when I
asked her what role women should play in creating
Gina Lazenby’s Healthy Home &
sacred space in Yorkshire, the venue for We)ness Retreats
DADI JANKI - AN EXTRAORDINARY WOMAN
With her relentless love, deep com-
passion and humour, and extraordinary energy, Dadi Janki has been
described as having the most stable
mind on the planet. If in the youth
of our 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and
even 70s, we can learn from Dadi’s
practical example of love, service
and living by values, then we can
undoubtedly make a difference in
the world. Not only has Dadi overseen the expansion of the BK World
Spiritual University activities to
nearly 90 countries, she also heads
the Janki Foundation for Global
Healthcare. Since her early 20s and
with no formal education, Dadi traveled India teaching self-reliance and
empowering women to be leaders in
their communities. In the 1930s she
became one of India’s first female
spiritual teachers.
