Abram, Charlotte
Charlotte Abram holds a bachelor of science in Business Administration and a master‟s in
Public Administration. She has worked in the public administration field since the early
1990s in leadership and supervisory capacities. She supports several attorneys, conducting
legal research and writing memorandums of law. She has trained state employees and
given presentations for the Attorney General‟s Office/Division of Child Support
Enforcement and also for the Arizona Bankruptcy Trustees. Charlotte was twice named
employee of the year for the Child and Family Protection Division by the Arizona
Attorney General.
Abukhalaf, Ronnie
Ronnie Abukhalaf currently is finishing his Doctor of Philosophy in Business
Administration (PhD BA) Advanced Accounting at Northcentral University. He holds a
Master of Science in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, completed
24 credits in MBA program from Adelphi University, and a Bachelor of Science in
Aerospace Engineering from New York Institute of Technology. Ronnie had been
teaching both graduate and undergraduate levels since 2001. He worked over 15 years
with fortune 500 companies like Fairchild Republic, Grumman Aerospace, and
Pratt&Whitney as peace Gate I&II program manager. Currently, Ronnie lives in South
Florida and teaches online and on campus at schools in South Florida.
Achilles, Wendy
Wendy Achilles holds a PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,
Virginia and a Master‟s of Science in Accounting from East Carolina University in
Greenville, NC. She is a licensed CPA in North Carolina and has performed duties such as
tax compliance, international tax research and SEC reporting while in industry. In
addition, she also has public accounting experience in auditing and taxation
Aldinger, Donna
Donna Aldinger earned her Master of Science degree in Interpersonal and Public
Communication, with a Cognate Specialty in Organizational Communication from the
University of Louisiana. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Administration (Major: Office Administration) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish,
from the University of Evansville. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary
Studies, with an emphasis on Leadership and Administration, through Trinity College of
the Bible and Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana. Donna has over 19 years of
college and university experience

Amborn, Patricia
Patricia Amborn earned a Master of Science degree in Management at Cardinal Stritch
University. She has taught online and face-to-face courses for Ottawa University for
nearly 10 years. She is also an ordained Stephen Minister Leader. Currently, she is a free
lance writer who writes about wellness and business related issues and an artist who
creates mixed media pieces.
Anthony, Kyle
Kyle received his Ph.D. in U.S. History from the University of Kansas in May 2011. He is
an adjunct instructor at the University of Kansas and adjunct instructor in the Professional
Education Program at Ottawa University – Kansas City in addition to teaching for Ottawa
Online His other fields of interest include political, labor, military, and gender history.
Arnold, George
George Arnold earned his Doctor of Business Administration from University of Phoenix.
He holds Master of Arts degrees in both Management and Computer Resource
Management from Webster University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree
from Loyola Marymount University. He is also certified by the Project Management
Institute. George recently moved to Phoenix, AZ after serving for two years as an
Academic Dean in Omaha, NE. He retired from the US Air Force in 1991 after serving
over 22 years in a variety of assignments. Since leaving the military he has held IT
Director positions in both the public and private sectors; a number of teaching positions
(both online and on campus); and a couple of academic leadership positions. Originally
from Kansas City George has traveled the world extensively during Air Force career.

Bahmani, Sahar
Sahar Bahmani earned her Bachelor‟s degree in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin at
Madison with a double major in economics and political science. She earned her master
of arts degree in economics in 2004 and her Ph.D. in 2007, both in economics. She has
been teaching since 2003 at different institutions, such as the University of Wisconsin, the
University of Wisconsin at Whitewater's business school, Milwaukee Area Technical
College, and Cardinal Stritch University.
Barnhill, Joe
Joe Barnhill grew up in Lancaster Pennsylvania and earned a BA in Economics from
Millersville University of Pennsylvania. He then moved to Missouri and earned a MA in
Economics from the University of Central Missouri. He has worked as a Fed Funds trader,
a Treasury Manager for a fortune 500 company, and is registered as Certified Cash
Manager through the Association of Financial Professionals. Currently, he is the Director
of Learning Services and Disability Services at Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri.
He teaches economics, finance, statistics and math courses. Joe lives in Lee‟s Summit,
Missouri with his wife and two boys. He enjoys watching college sports, and volunteers
his time as a Board Member and Treasurer of the College Reading and Learning
Association.
Barron, Brian
Brian has several degrees including a Bachelor of Science in Math Education and
Psychology (1989) from Louisiana Tech University, a Master of Divinity (1992) from
Saint Paul School of Theology (Kansas City, MO), Master of Science in Mathematics
from Louisiana Tech University and PhD in Computational Analysis and Modeling with
an emphasis in Nano-system Engineering. Brian has recently written a text, Design for
Thermal Stresses, where these applications are discussed. He enjoys reading, skiing and
recreational sports. He lives in Louisiana with his wife and three children.
Beamon, Devon
Devon Beamon graduated from Longwood University with a Bachelor of Social Work
Degree. She earned a Master of Science in Human Services from Capella University.
Currently, she is a Monitor Analyst with the Virginia Department of Social Services
where she assists with the Federal Child and Family Service Review. Since 1998, she has
worked in the field of Social Work. Most of her work experience entails Domestic
Violence counseling and Child Protective Services. During this time, she was a Forensic
Interviewer and a Trainer for new social workers. Devon is from Petersburg, Virginia.
She is a wife and mother of two. In her spare time, she enjoys reading a good novel and
shopping. She also enjoy watching movies.
Berg, Melissa
Melissa Berg earned her bachelor‟s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
in Speech Communication with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in marketing.
She also earned her master‟s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Communication
with an emphasis in corporate communication. Melissa served as the District Director of
the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the Director of Special
Events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Madison, Wisconsin. Following her
nonprofit event planning experience, she owned and operated a corporate event planning
firm. After selling her event planning firm, she began teaching communication courses at
the college level.
Bergan, Nick
Nicholas Bergan has a Masters in Economics from Florida State University and a
Bachelor of Science from St. Louis University. Since then Nicholas has worked for the
Federal Reserve Bank as a Data Analyst. While Nicholas was attending school at Florida
State University, he worked for the Florida Department of Education as a Management
Consultant. Nicholas has been teaching since he attended St. Louis University where he
was a student instructor. In Florida, he was an instructor for the Upward Bound Program.
He continues to cheer on the Florida State Seminoles at the college football games and
serves on the Florida State Seminole Booster‟s Board. Nicholas lives in South Florida
and teaches other online courses and in person at schools in South Florida.
Bethune, Sonja
Sonja Bethune is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Professor. She earned a Master's
degree in Education with an emphasis in Counseling at Wichita State University.
She also earned a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health
Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology. She has over 13 years
experience as a supervisor, trainer, director, educator and therapist at various psychiatric
hospitals in Southern California. Sonja works currently as a website editor, is actively in
the process of developing private practice, and she also facilitates additional on-line
courses for other institutions teaching graduate level courses in Forensic Psychology.
Bilden, Eve; MA
Eve Bilden holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Marquette University
and has worked on a PhD degree in Communication at Regent University online. She has
over 13 years of experience in the marketing communications field, including positions as
a bank corporate headquarters marketing specialist, promotions company assistant,
shopper paper writer/editor, and most recently as a small business owner/operator. She is
co-owner of Bilden Home Inspections and co-founder of Bilden Foundation Consulting,
where she specializes in marketing and sales. Eve has taught for Ottawa University both
full time and as an adjunct since 1999. She has taught several communications classes
along withWriting Skills Development and Proseminar. Eve is married with three
children. She is an active member of her church where she enjoys serving in women‟s
ministry. Her areas of research interest include workplace culture and communication and
first generation college student experience. She lives in the Milwaukee area.
Binder, Greg
Greg Binder is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and holds a Masters
Degree in Computer Science from the University of Arizona. He taught Computer
Science at the Academy for three years. Subsequently he served on the staff of the US
Army Management Systems Support Agency at the Pentagon. Since 1980, he has worked
for the City of Phoenix Information Technology Department, consulted for the US Army
Pentagon and the State Department, and taught in the Business College and School of
Public Affairs at Arizona State University. At the City of Phoenix Mr. Binder has
managed development of the e-commerce program, privacy, the e-government program,
and served as project manager for web-based applications. He currently heads the
Enterprise Technology Planning Services team, with responsibilities for strategic,
technical, and operational technology planning, related solutions strategy development,
and IT marketing. He has taught for Ottawa University since 2003.
Bird, Beth
Beth Bird holds a Master of Science degree in Educational Technology, a Master of Arts
degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Elementary Education. She holds additional endorsements for Language Arts and Reading
for middle school age students. She currently works as a Curriculum Designer for Ottawa
University and serves as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Education. She has
previously taught a variety of ages, ranging from preschool to twelfth grade.
Bleuenstein, Christopher
Christopher Bleuenstein holds a Bachelor‟s and Master‟s degree in Political Science from the
University of Akron. He has a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Kent State University.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. Chris is
serving as a Deputy Criminal Court Administrator for the Superior Court of Arizona in
Maricopa County. The Court is the 4th largest in the United States and processes more than
50,000 felony cases a year. Chris has 20 years of public service experience working for the
court system in three different states (Ohio, North Dakota, and Arizona). He is also a fellow
of the Institute for Court Management, through the National Center for State Courts, which
qualified him as a “certified court executive.”
Bowersox, Nicholas
Nicholas Bowersox holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration degree from
Trident University, a Master of Science in Management from Minot State University, an
MBA with a focus in Organizational Development from Upper Iowa University, and a
Bachelor of Science in Business from Wright State University. Nicholas has been
teaching part-time at both the graduate and undergraduate levels since 2007. The majority
of the courses he teaches have focused on business statistics, managerial mathematics, and
business management. Currently, Nicholas is employed with the Department of Defense,
United States Air Force as an Operations Research Analyst. In his spare time, he enjoys
trail running, disc golf, being outdoors, and spending quality time with his wife.
Brewster, David
David Brewster served more than 28 years with the Phoenix Police Department including
almost every area and department. He retired as the Executive Assistant Police Chief.
Prior to joining the police department, Chief Brewster served on active duty with the U.S.
Army, including a tour as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He continued in the National
Guard serving over 26 years, most of which was in combat aviation assignments. He
retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving as the Provost Marshal for the Arizona Army
National Guard. David is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff
College. He received his MBA from Arizona State University. Since the early 1970‟s he
has taught starting as an instructor pilot and has continued in the classroom and online. He
currently serves on a number of non-profit boards of directors.
Bridges, Ken
Ken Bridges was born and raised in the Dallas area. He lived most of his life in Texas
where he received a BA in History at the University of Texas and an MA and PhD from
the University of North Texas, both in history. He has been teaching at the college level
since 1999. He currently lives El Dorado, Arkansas, in where he continues to teach. Ken
joined the Ottawa Online team in 2011. He has written two books and several articles.
He is married with five sons
Bruno, Courtney
Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western International University and a
Master of Counseling from University of Phoenix. She also has a Master in Education
(Special Education, Consultation and Collaboration with an Emphasis in Autism) through
Arizona State University. Courtney is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of
Arizona working with children ages birth to five, developmental disorders, autism,
assessment, and crisis counseling. She completed a yearlong training with the Harris
Institute in Infant/Family Studies(Infant Mental Health). She has also had extensive
training in the area of the treatment of PTSD. During her twelve year career Courtney has
worked with all ages in various capacities from Counselor and Case Manager to Clinical
Supervisor/Treatment Director.
Bruce, Richard
Rich Bruce and has an MBA from Marquette University. He has been teaching for Ottawa
University since 2008 both online and on the Milwaukee campus. His courses include
Business Mathematics and Project Management. He lives in East Troy, Wisconsin, with
his wife, daughter and son.
Bryson, Karen
Karen Bryson is a National Certified Counselor and educator. She earned her Master‟s
degrees in both Human Development Counseling and Creative Writing with an Emphasis
in Playwriting. Karen earned her doctoral degree in Human Science at Saybrook Graduate
School. She is also a fiction author, playwright and performer. She is currently an
Assistant Professor of Psychology and Human Services at Ottawa University in Chandler,
Arizona.
Buccigrosse, Lisa
Lisa Buccigrosse earned her Bachelor‟s degree in Spanish from Rutger‟s University and
her Master‟s degree in Elementary Education from Saint Joseph‟s University. Her areas of
certification and expertise are Elementary Education, English as a Second Language. She
has been an educator in a variety of capacities from teacher to administrator since 2001 at
both the elementary (K-8) and higher education levels. Beyond teaching Lisa has worked
with course and curriculum development for both online and face-to-face methods of
instructing and learning. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of
Early and Middle Childhood – English as a New Language. For fun, Lisa enjoys traveling.
Additionally, she enjoys taking care of her nine adopted rescue animals
Buchholz, Jennifer
Jennifer Buchholz earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication at University of
Wisconsin - Parkside and a Master of Arts Degree in Human Resource Development from
Northeastern Illinois University. She has also completed doctoral coursework for a PhD
in Organization and Management from Capella University, an online school based in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has 15 years of experience in supervisory, management, and
academic positions. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in a variety of topics.
Jennifer she lives with her partner Keith; they enjoy walking, bicycling and volleyball.
Byrd, Kim
Kimberly Byrd was born and raised in the Republic of Panama until she was 18 years old.
She earned her Bachelor‟s Degree in Accounting from Nicholls State University and
passed the Certified Public Accountant exam. She continued on to earn a Masters in
Accounting from Auburn. Due to her work and responsibilities online courses were the
best. This experience has given her an understanding of the commitment college work
requires and how important it is to have instructors who want to you succeed. Kim has
been in the accounting profession for the last 20 years working for private, public,
governmental and non-profit organizations. She also worked for several accounting firms.
Kim participates in her children‟s education each week.

Caldwell, Joyce
Joyce Caldwell has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education-English from
the University of Wisconsin; a Master of Arts degree in Education-Curriculum and
Instruction from Marquette University; a Master of Arts degree in Human Development
from Fielding Graduate University, and a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems
from Fielding Graduate University. She has worked in Christian education and youth
ministries and has served as executive director of a non-profit organization. She had
twenty years of experience in developing resources and facilitating adult groups before
coming to Ottawa University in 2005. She has been a full-time faculty member at OUWisconsin since 2007, teaching courses in the liberal arts, adult education, and ethnic
relations. Joyce lives with her husband. They have two adult sons. When she is not
working, she enjoys reading, talking with friends, biking, and cross-country skiing.
Callies, Debi
Debi Callies has a Master in Educational Technology. She has taught all ages from early
childhood through higher level education. She is currently teaching science and serving as
a mentor teacher for the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections. In her work, she is
looking closely at how we can integrate technology into the classroom environment. Debi
is also a free lance writer along with being quite active with doing volunteer work for the
military. Her hobbies are photography and hiking.
Campbell, Kelly
Kelley Campbell earned a B.A. in English from the University of Kansas (1995) and a
Master of Arts in the Humanities from the University of Texas at Dallas (2000). Since
2012, she has been pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education at St. Louis University, where
she is focusing her dissertation work on the higher education challenges of military
veterans. She will graduate with her doctorate in 2015. Since 2002, she has been an
adjunct instructor, a faculty trainer, a dissertation mentor, and a Humanities Professor for
various Kansas City area universities. She has taught online, hybrid, and ground courses,
which include Liberal Arts Seminars, English, Public Speaking, Arts and Music,
Literature, World History and Humanities. Her academic interests range from working
with first-generation college students to training new- hire faculty in ground and online
teaching environments.
Campbell, Melissa
Melissa graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelor's degree in political
science and psychology. She graduated from Drake Law School. Melissa works as a
deputy prosecutor in southern Indiana, mainly prosecuting drug crimes. She has owned a
private practice and also worked as a deputy public defender for ten years in Indianapolis,
Indiana. For the last two years, she has been teaching classes at Ottawa University at the
Jeffersonville campus and online. She has taught a variety of law related courses,
including employment law, business law and health care law.
Cardiel, Sal
Sal Cardiel has an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Redlands and
a BA in Accounting from California State University. He has over 20 years experience
with various large to mid-size corporations, with responsibilities which included
budgeting, monthly and annual financial reporting, SOX implementation, costing,
auditing, and development of staff. Sal also teaches at Colorado Tech University and at
Mt. San Jacinto Junior College. Sal Cardiel lives with his wife and 4 children. In his free
time, He likes to play tennis, mountain bike, and swim. He has traveled on business trips
to England, Malaysia and his favorite, Australia
Carr, Karen
Karen Carr earned her master's degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in
Management, from the University of South Florida. She has a broad experience base. She
worked for 11 years in the health care industry, holding a variety of professional and
management positions. Karen has taught at several Maricopa Community College
campuses. Currently she teaches online for Ottawa University and Grand Canyon
University. In addition, Karen has web enhanced campus courses, developed online course
modules/lectures, served on Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and ACBSP Teaching
Effectiveness/Assessment committees in preparation for accreditation reviews, and acted
as a peer reviewer and mentor to new online faculty.
Carter, Latricia Michelle
Latricia Michelle Carter earned herBachelors of Science in Nursing from Valdosta State
University. She has a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Healthcare in
Management from American Intercontinental University. Michelle has worked in various
healthcare positions from hospital, dialysis center, doctor office and mental health setting.
In teaching, she has addressed many healthcare components from management, law,
communication and financial management. Her teaching experience has involved working
with diverse groups of students in the online setting. Michelle lives with her husband and
son. When she is not working, she enjoys watching sports with family, exercising and
shopping.
Cederburg, Mark; MSWMark has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of
Missouri – Kansas City and Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kansas.
He is licensed in the states of Kansas (LMSW) and Missouri (LCSW) and is a member of
the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW). Mark has provided direct services and
administration in a variety of human service settings in the fields of child welfare, mental
health, child and family services, residential treatment, and developmental disabilities. For
the past ten years, he has taught face-to-face and online courses for area universities
including Kansas University, Washburn University and Avila University. Mark lives with
his wife, son, dog, and cat. When not at the computer, he enjoys running, biking, and
watching ballgames.
Chambers, Kevin
Kevin Chambers received his Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Santa
Barbara. He has taught in the classroom and online at Western Washington University,
Gonzaga University, North Idaho College, and now Ottawa University. Kevin teaches
courses in World Civilizations, US History, and Latin American History. He has traveled
extensively to Europe and Latin America. He conducts research with the peasants in
Paraguay, a hot, semi-tropical country in the middle of South America. He speaks
Spanish, Portuguese, and Guarani, the indigenous language of Paraguay. When not
working, Dr. Chambers enjoys his family of six, especially in the outdoors of the
Northwest, where they ski in the winter and camp in the summer.
Clark, Rustin
Rustin Clark has been a Superintendent of Schools in Kansas and Oklahoma for the past
13 years. Preceding that he was a principal and a mathematics/computer teacher. He is an
adjunct instructor at Ottawa Online University teaching courses in Leadership and School
Finance.
Click, Bennie
Bennie Click holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State
University, and is a member of the College of Public Programs Alumni Hall of Fame. He
served as the Dallas Police Chief for 7 years. Prior to that he served 28 years with the
Phoenix Police Department. Since retiring, he has worked as a police practices expert on
numerous cases. Bennie is a member of professional organizations such as the
International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Police Executive Research Forum, and
the National Executive Institute. He has served on the State Bar of Arizona Governing
Board and currently serves on two Arizona Supreme Court committees. Over the years, he
has taught for Arizona State University and Phoenix College along with the Phoenix and
Dallas Police Academies.
Coccoma, Patricia
Patricia Coccoma holds a doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology and a Master degree
in Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. She, in
addition to being an online adjunct instructor for Ottawa University, is also a faculty
member of a Florida State University Graduate program in Social Work. She has many
years of experience in the mental health field as a clinician as well as an administrator.
She has presented at national and state conferences in the area of adolescent depression
and Ethics.
Coffman-Romero, Kim
Kim Coffman-Romero has over 25 years teaching experience. She is a graduate (BA) of
Western Michigan University in Business and Communication Arts & Sciences; MAEd in
Higher & Adult Education and PhD in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from
Arizona State University. Over the years Kim has taught both in the undergraduate and
graduate programs at Davenport College of Business, Arizona State University, Grand
Canyon University and now serves as full-time faculty for Ottawa University. Courses
taught include those in the liberal arts, education, technology and research. Kim lives with
her husband. She has five sons, five grandchildren, and a cat. She loves reading, making
jewelry, and spending time at the beach.
Cohill, Carrie
Carrie Cohill has a Ph.D. in Organizational Systems from Saybrook University and a
M.A. degree in Human Resources with a concentration in Organization Change
Management from Ottawa University. She has worked in human resources for Dial
Corporation, Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, Port of San Diego, and Sundstrand Pneumatic
Systems in the areas of compensation, orientation and training, diversity, and recruitment.
She had ten years of experience in developing resources and facilitating adult groups
before coming to Ottawa University as an adjunct faculty in 2013. She taught industrial
organization courses for Argosy University Online. Carrie enjoys a career in business
consulting and facilitation. Her community service includes serving on association boards
and using her facilitation skills to build strategic plans for nonprofits in the Greater
Phoenix area.
Colston, Dean
Dean Colston earned his Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in instructional design
and psychology from Capella University. He has a M.A. in Human Resources
Development from Webster University. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from the
University of Missouri-Columbia. Dean has worked in higher education for over a decade.
Currently, he is the Dean of Online Faculty for a college in Southern California and taught
full-time online for them.He has been with Ottawa University since 2002. Dean has taught
a variety of ground and online courses. He has over 20 years of professional experience in
mental health (clinical and administration), insurance (provider relations/physician
contracting and psychiatric disability), higher education, and the training and development
industry.
Conaway, Cameron
Cameron Conaway is the author of Until You Make the Shore and Caged: Memoir of a
Cage-Fighting Poet. He was the 2007-2009 Poet-in-Residence at the University of
Arizona‟s MFA Creative Writing Program and is a two-time recipient of the Richard
Russo Award.
Conti, Jane
Jane Conti earned her B. A. at Arizona State University and M.A at Northern Arizona
University in elementary education and curriculum. She holds endorsements in early
childhood, SEI, gifted and special education. Jane has over 34 years experience in
elementary education, teaching special education, dual language classes, gifted and second
to fifth grade in Phoenix, Arizona. She has been an adjunct faculty member for Ottawa
University since 2001. She is currently the gifted specialist for Kyrene Elementary School
District in Tempe, Arizona. When Jane is not teaching she enjoys hiking, reading and
spending the summers in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Cook, David
David has a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Southern California
College and a Master's Degree in Speech Communication, with specializations in
Compliance Gaining and Organizational Communication, from California State
University. He is the founder and president of Cognicom, a human communications
company. He has a diverse background that includes experience in sales, ministry,
business ownership, and managerial positions in both public and private sectors. He has
been involved in public speaking and training as well as management for over 20 years.
As a speaker, corporate educator, manager and trainer, he has worked for or with a variety
of organizations from churches, small businesses, public organizations and a fortune 100
company. Since 2005, David has been the Operations Manager for a national firm,
currently involved in a major redevelopment of a Phoenix mall/retail center
Coultas, Deanna
Deanna Coultas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Northern
Arizona University and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from
University of Phoenix. She began her career in criminal justice with the Coconino County
Sheriff's Department in Flagstaff, Arizona and has been with the Pima County Sheriff's
Department since 1996. She has served in many different assignments throughout the
years from Patrol Officer, Deputy Sheriff, and Public Information Officer. Deanna was
promoted in Lieutenant in 2002 and has served in the Criminal Investigations Division,
the Administrative Services Division and the Patrol Division. She is a certified instructor
in the Leadership in Police Organizations program for the International Association of
Chiefs of Police and the Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training Board. She has
traveled throughout the country facilitating leadership courses for local, state and federal
law enforcement agencies. She is an avid yoga practitioner and very much enjoys
traveling with her husband, but misses her dogs while away.
Coyle, Ian
Ian received his B.A. in Political Science from St. Bonaventure University and his Masters
in Public Administration with a concentration in Local Government Management from the
University at Albany. Ian worked in municipal management. He has also held intern
appointments with the US Congress, the New York State Assembly and served as the
State University of New York Graduate Assistant/Program Administrator. Ian currently
serves as a County Administrator for a rural county in Upstate New York. He lives in
Western New York with his wife and two children. Ian was recently accepted into the
Doctorate of Public Administration program at Valdosta State University. Ian is an active
member of American Society of Public Administrators and serves on committees with
local and international organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with
family, watching college basketball, reading and learning about municipal government,
fishing, and running full and half marathons.
Cronan, Carrie
Carrie has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis
in reading/literacy studies and a minor in research. She is a middle school reading teacher
in the Olathe School District. Previously, she taught elementary school, middle school
math, language arts, and social studies and has worked in educational management for a
private company. She has taught in both inner city and suburban school districts. Carrie
lives in Louisburg, Kansas with two horses, three dogs, and three cats and when she is not
working she enjoys reading, being outside, and spending time with family and friends.
Currie, Heather
Heather Currie holds a B.S. in Public Administration with an emphasis in Health and
Human Services from the University of Arizona as well as a Master of Counseling from
Arizona State University. Her background includes a blend of corporate, education, and
government experience. Heather has taught for Ottawa University since the spring of 2005
and is currently a contractor for Ripp Rehab for whom she proofreads Vocational
Evaluation reports. She has been employed for an internet based accounting portfolio
company as well as in human resources. Her most recent experience, however, is within
the human services field including case management and vocational counseling for
dislocated workers, welfare to work recipients, and disabled veterans.
Currin, Ginny
Ginny Currin earned a Master's Degree in Special Education with an emphasis in
assessment in 1997 and a doctorate is in Curriculum, Instruction, and Supervision with a
teaching emphasis in Reading in 2002. She retired from teaching in Texas in 2006 and
currently lives in Andover, Kansas.

DeGrose, Maureen
Maureen DeGrose is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a BS in
Elementary Education. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Master's
degree in Elementary Education and Grand Canyon University with a Master's degree in
Educational Administration. Maureen has been an adjunct faculty member (online and
ground) at Ottawa University since January, 2009. Maureen has been involved in the
educational field for over 20 years. She is currently a principal at a school in the Diocese
of Phoenix. She has been a school administrator for 12 years. She is also an accreditation
chair for WCEA. In her "spare" time, she likes to spend time with her family and loves to
read.
Devers, Kathy
Kathy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Adams State
College in Alamosa, Colorado. Her Master of Education degree in Elementary Education
is from Arizona State University. Kathy holds teaching endorsements in the areas of
Gifted Education and Early Childhood Education. She has been a classroom teacher since
1995. Kathy has taught primarily in the Early Childhood setting, having taught
Kindergarten, First, Second, and Fourth grades. Kathy has also taught Professional
Development Courses for her school district. Kathy lives in the Phoenix area with her
husband and three daughters. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her family.
Dobratz, Patricia
Patricia received her Bachelor degree in Psychology and Education Studies from Beloit
College, Juris Doctor from University of Illinois, and Master of Advanced Studies from
Arizona State University. Patricia has a variety of work experience ranging from victim
advocate and prosecutor, to therapist and instructor. Currently, Patricia is an instructor for
Ottawa University and Arizona State University, as well as a therapist for the Arizona
Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic. Patricia is currently the Ombudsman and Spring
Conference Contributor Coordinator. She is a diehard Chicago sports fan and enjoys time
with friends and family.
Doneski, Robert
Robert Doneski‟s educational background is in both Psychology as well as Criminal
Justice. He has obtained a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) a Master
of Arts in Clinical Psychology (M.A.) and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (M.S.).
Robert is a licensed psychologist and works in Springfield, Missouri where he is in private
practice and works in retirement centers. He is very passionate about the field of
psychology and enjoys working both in the clinical setting as well as teaching. In his
leisure time he enjoys reading, mystery writing and spending time with my family.
Duckworth, Michael
Michael Duckworth is now retired from his practice as a business-transactions lawyer. He
has served extensively as an arbitrator for the NASD and FINRA, and as a mediator for
the Scottsdale Justice Court. Mr. Duckworth also teaches Employment Law, Business
Law, and Strategies and Policies for Ottawa University, sharing his years of educational,
professional and practical experience with his students.
Dunfee, Charlene
Charlene Dunfree received her undergraduate degree in computer science from
William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. She continued her educational quest and
received her MBA from Baker University in Baldwin, KS and Doctor of Management
in Organization from the University of Phoenix. It was such an exciting experience
that she earned a Ph.D. in Leadership also. Charlene is CFO for Com-Tech Systems,
Inc. where she manages the corporate financial division. The highlight of her life is
her family, husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandsons.
Dunn, Donald
Don Dunn was a Lead Pastor for 33 years in the Church of the Nazarene, completing 21
years at Lawrence, Kansas First Church in 2010. Don holds a B.A. in Religion from
MidAmerica Nazarene University, a M.L.S. in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hays
State University, and is a candidate for the Ph.D. in Organization and Management,
specializing in Leadership from Capella University. Don teaches Business Ethics for
Ottawa Online as well as ethics and leadership courses for Mid American Nazarene
University, Ft Hays University and baker. Don also has a consulting practice, The
Burning Bush Leadership Institute. He is married with two grown sons. Don loves golf,
reading and watching action adventure fiction, playing hide and seek with Lewey the
Morkie and Lizzie the Dorkie, teaching, and mentoring leaders.
Durant, Aurelia
Aurelia has a Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Political Science from Temple University. She is completing coursework for her
Master of Science degree in Global Leadership at Duquesne University. Aurelia has been
a practicing attorney since 1999, specializing in corporate law and international
intellectual property. She has also served as general counsel of several national
corporations where she demonstrated her skillful application of American business law
principles. She is also a professional speaker who travels the world speaking to business
leaders about international business and intellectual property. Aurelia is active in
religious and civic affairs; serving on the board of directors of several non-profit
organizations. Aurelia enjoys reading, bicycling and is an avid collector of ethnic
American art.
Durso, Keith
I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (BA), Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary (MDiv), and Baylor University (PhD). I have taught several on-site
undergraduate, honors, and graduate classes at McLennan Community College (Waco,
TX); the Center for English as a Second Language (University of Oklahoma); Campbell
University (Buies Creek, NC); and Belmont University (Nashville, TN). Keith Durso lives
in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I am currently a freelance copy editor and writer, and online

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Behavior, a Master of Arts Degree in
Human Resources and has completed much of the course work toward a Ph.D. in Business
Administration. He has taught online and in the classroom for Ottawa University since
2001. Before joining Ottawa University, Tom was an organizational development
professional with experience in telecommunications, information management and higher
education. He has significant experience in organizational culture change and leadership

Espana, Amber
Amber Espana graduated from Wichita State University with an undergraduate degree in
Psychology in 2004. She then completed her graduate degree in Sociology in 2009, also
from Wichita State University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational
Leadership at Wichita State University. She has taught numerous courses, including but
not limited to; Human Relations, Sociology, Psychology, Human Sexuality, Marriage &
Family, Social Problems, Latin American Society, Anthropology, College Orientation,
and Juvenile Delinquency. Her passion is teaching online and helping her students be
successful in an online environment.
Esveldt, Sarah
Sarah Esveldt has taught for Ottawa University since 2001. She holds an MBA in Health
Care Administration and has worked in many aspects of health care and management,
including the federal government, hospital systems, employee health promotion, and
managed care organizations. She has found her true passion in teaching and working with
adult learners, and enjoys working on special projects related to course and
curriculum development. When she's not teaching she's keeping up with her husband,
three active children, and their dog in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Etienne, Rockel
Rockel Etienne earned a Doctorate degree in Education, a Master‟s Degree in Human
Relations, and a Bachelor‟s Degree in Business. Her experience is primarily in the areas of
academic/administrative higher education, entrepreneur/business owner, corporate
education/consulting in human resources, training and development; and mediation and
counseling. She has over a decade of university level teaching experience in
undergraduate and graduate level courses. As an educator, business owner, community
leader and volunteer, Rockel spends a great deal of time enhancing the lives of others in
educational, social and community environments. She is also a professional speaker who
has spoken at workshops, conferences, seminars, commencement and public events. She
enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Evans, Ron
Ron Evans is retired after 30 years as a Professor of Psychology at Washburn University
(Topeka, KS). His B.S. is from Iowa State University and his Doctorate is from Southern
Illinois University, in clinical psychology. During his full-time career he published 32
research articles and four books, but in retirement his full attention is on teaching online
courses in Psychology.

Farina, Allen
Allen Farina earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology is from Marquette
University, his Master of Arts degree in Education is from Lakeland College and is
pursuing a doctoral degree in Education with concentrations in Higher Education and
Teacher Education Programs at Lynn University. He is a certified teacher. Allen has
been with Ottawa University since 2009, teaching in the areas of Education and
Sociology. He mentors new online instructors, and reviews courses to ensure academic
standards are being met. Allen teachers for other colleges and universities. Past positions
include teaching and administration in K-12 and higher education institutions.
Feliciano, Amy
Amy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (English,
Philosophy, and Art History) from the University of Arizona. She obtained secondary
teacher certification from Grand Canyon University, and a Master of Arts degree in
English from Northern Arizona University. She has taught seventh through twelfth grade
Language Arts and English for the past sixteen years. She is currently teaching Junior
and Senior English in the Phoenix Union High School District. Her teaching experience
has primarily involved working with at-risk, urban students in a public school setting.
Amy lives in Chandler with her husband, daughter and son. When she is not teaching,
she enjoys hiking and taking Zumba classes.
Firestone, Mary
Mary has an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from Hamline University, where her
collection of short stories was a finalist in the Best Thesis in Fiction category. Mary
Firestone grew up under the „Big Skies‟ of North Dakota, and now lives in Minnesota.
She has written over thirty works of non-fiction for children and has recently completed
her first Young Adult novel, which she hopes will be published soon. She enjoys running
and baking for her family.
Flory, Michelle
Michelle Flory teaches education and reading courses for a number of Universities at
both undergraduate and graduate levels including Ottawa University, Grand Canyon
University, Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University-Idaho. Having
taught over 60 different courses, her favorite course to teach is Children‟s Literature
where we spend every spare moment reading books for children and analyzing the
publishing industry. She also works as a reading specialist, university supervisor for
student teachers across the state of Utah, a literacy advocate and as a conference
presenter.
Forde, Brenda
Brenda Forde holds a Bachelor of Science (concentrations in Accounting and Finance)
from Wayne State College and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State
University. She is a certified public accountant in the state of Arizona. Brenda has held a
number of positions in the finance industry and most recently was a Vice President at
American Express. She has led and managed a number of financial teams including; a
loan servicing center, domestic and international accounting, budgeting/forecasting,
global balance sheet integrity, and financial system implementation. Brenda has taught
accounting, finance and management classes for several years.
Forsyth, Bryan
Bryan has undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Vocational Education.
He earned his Masters at Ottawa University in Human Resources and Organizational
Development. His Doctorate is in Applied Management and Decision Sciences. Bryan
did most of his classes online so he can relate to current students and offers help with
online issues. For ten years, Bryan was in the Air Force serving as an Inflight Refueling
Operator/Instructor. As a civilian, he has been a Human Resources Generalist/Manager
and worked in training and development for large companies. Bryan has worked for
different universities, serving as department chair and teaching graduate and
undergraduate courses. Teaching and consulting are his true passions and that is what he
is now pursuing.
Fortney, Gary
Gary Fortney earned his Bachelor's degree in Christian Education from Taylor
University-Fort Wayne and his Master's Degree in Christian Ministries from Wheaton
Graduate School. He has served as a youth pastor, an administrator of Christian Schools
as well as being a pulpit supply for several churches. Presently he works full-time for the
Arizona Department of Education as an Education Program Director. He has facilitated
online classes previously for Grand Canyon University. Gary has found online instructing
rewarding with students from all over the country in class at one time. Gary and his wife
live in the Phoenix area with their two adopted children. They definitely feel God was
involved in giving them these two gifts. His hobbies include running, collecting Charlie
Brown "Peanuts" books, and watching college football.
Foulke, Steven
Steven Foulke holds a doctoral degree in Geography from the University of Kansas, an
M.A. in American Studies from the University of Wyoming and B.A. degrees in History
and English from McPherson (KS) College. Steven is Associate Professor of History at
Ottawa University at the Ottawa, KS campus. Prior to joining Ottawa University, he
taught at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, and Emporia State University in
Emporia, Kansas. Steven teaches a variety of American history courses at Ottawa
University, as well as courses in geography, and has had the pleasure of teaching abroad
on several occasions. He was awarded a Fulbright Teaching Award by the Council for
International Exchange of Scholars and taught American history and culture classes at the
University of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia. He has also taught
geography courses in Paraguay and Marburg, Germany. Steven resides in Ottawa, Kansas
with his wife and two sons. In his spare time, Steven enjoys gardening, bicycling, and
disc golf.
Foxx, Dan
Dan Foxx received his BA and MA in History from Brigham Young University and did
doctoral work at Arizona State. Dan retired from full time service at Ottawa University
after 23 years as an advisor and History professor in Phoenix. During his full time career
he also helped to open Ottawa‟s international program and taught for several years in
Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. He continues to teach part time at
Ottawa University Phoenix and Glendale Community College. Dan is also an author
whose most recent book, written with former student Eddy W. Davison, is Nathan
Bedford Forrest: In Search of the Enigma. It was nominated for the National Book
Awards, won the Arizona Book Award in biography, and was a finalist in the National
Benjamin Franklin Awards.
Francis-Randolph, Lola
Lola Francis-Randolph earned her Bachelor of Arts from Ottawa University with a
double major in Human Resource Management and Business. She holds a MBA with a
focus in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School of Business and a
She is a member of the SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management), and a
Certified Professional in Human Resource. Lola is currently working as the Western
Region-Faculty Recruiter for a local university. She has over 15 years human resource
experience working in various industries, specifically in the area of staffing/recruitment,
employee relations, employee benefits, and training. Prior to joining Ottawa University as
an Adjunct Faculty, she worked in the healthcare field as a Human Resource Consultant,
and in Banking as a Senior Recruiter and Lead Personnel Specialist.

Galloway, Jean
Jean holds a BA in Management, as well as an MA in Human Resources and an MBA
from Ottawa University in Kansas City. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human
Resources (SPHR) through the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Jean is
VP of Client Services for Career Partners International-Kansas City and brings over two
decades of management experience in the technology and financial services industries.
She brought a blend of technical expertise and a focus on the customer experience to the
companies in which she has served. Jean serves on the board of directors of SHRM of
Johnson County. She is a valued team member of Saving Grace Productions, a ministry of
United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, with over 12 years of service in various
technical and leadership roles. She has also been actively involved with and served on the
board of directors of a charity organization supporting the Ronald McDonald Houses.
Gardner, Audra
Audra Gardner holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a Concentration in
Community and Occupational Education, a Master of Arts in Health Care Administration,
and a PhD in Organization and Management with a Specialization in Leadership
from Capella University. Audra has several years experience in working with the
Stanford Patient Education Research Center- a world leader in public health. She has
taught traditional classes and online classes since the 1990s. She has taught a wide range
of students from those wishing to pursue a certificate to resident MDs to distance
educators. She has a passion for teaching in the online environment and helping students
achieve their academic and professional goals. While developing online curriculum,
Audra has worked with US government and private programs as well as international
groups. She loves animals, likes to read and travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Gernand, Peg
Peg earned her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Management from Ottawa, Jeffersonville,
and her Master‟s in Human Resources at Ottawa University – Online. Currently she is
enrolled in Ottawa‟s Online Master‟s in Education. Peg is an adjunct instructor for
Ottawa‟s Jeffersonville campus and also works full time as a Senior Enrollment Advisor
in Indiana. Peg has an extensive background in the business arena. She has worked for a
bank, a sugar company, an accounting firm and as the Director of Christian Education. In
all of these supporting roles, writing in both creative and formal settings, editing and
revising, and generating new ideas all have been a part of her work ethic. Peg lives in the
Jeffersonville area with her husband. She is a native of Minnesota but moved to live
nearer her son and three children in the Jeffersonville area. Peg also has a daughter and
two grandchildren living in the Denver area. When she is not working, she enjoys
spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoys needle work – most often a
Norwegian embroidery called Hardanger; and outside activities with her husband.
Gonzalez, Alvaro
Alvaro earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Management from the State
University of New York and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources
from the Keller Graduate School of Management He has worked in the areas of
operations, training and human resources management for several public organizations to
include the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the
Department of Transportation, as well as private entities in the drug-retail industry. He
has taught both online and onsite courses and has assisted designing and developing
courses for other schools as well. Alvaro is currently working on a PhD in Organizational
Leadership from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology with emphasizes in
Psychology and Healthcare Administration. He resides in New York City and is also a
Medical Service Corps officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. He holds a Human Capital
Strategist certification from the Human Capital Institute and when not working or
studying he enjoys working out, traveling and cooking.
Goodloe, James-Etta
James-Etta is a graduate of Ottawa University – Brookfield, WI. She earned her Master‟s
of Education in Adult and Continuing Education at Carroll University. In addition, she is
currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Education program, specializing in Higher
Education and Adult Learning at Walden University. James-Etta is an adjunct instructor at
Ottawa University in Jeffersonville, IN and works full-time at Kentucky State University
as an Instructional Counselor. She is a passionate writer who understands every facet of
the writing process. Her favorite genres are descriptive writing, journals, narrative writing
and poetry. She is an avid researcher with such interests as qualitative study, adult
development, biographical and family history research.
Gray, Shaloma
Shaloma Gray has a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate; two of the degrees are in the
counseling/behavioral science realm. The third degree is in education. Shaloma is an
education consultant. A large portion of what she does consists of working with
Superintendents, principals, teachers, school personnel, and parents to help foster student
success in the classroom. Shaloma has been in the field of education for twenty-one
years. She has experience working in charter, private, and district school environments.
She has experience as an early childhood and K-12 teacher, school administrator, and
Superintendent. Shaloma has experience teaching at the university level for bachelors,
masters and doctorate programs. She has taught online, ground base courses, and
seminars. Shaloma lives in the Phoenix area and for relaxation she enjoys reading, and
writing nonfiction books.
Greer, Traci
Traci Greer received a BA in marketing from Wichita State University and an MBA from
Keller Graduate School. She is the Principal of Greer Marketing. Prior to this, she was the
VP of Marketing for YRC Logistics involved in building the company from inception to
$1.4B in revenues with offices in 40 countries. Traci was also the VP of Sales and
Marketing at Planet Alumni, local technology start up, where she was instrumental in
obtaining VC funding and start up business processes. She has held management positions
at Global One and Sprint. She is also an adjunct professor of Marketing and International
Marketing at Ottawa University, Avila University and William Woods University.
Grodek, Adam
Adam holds a Master of Science degree in Geography from the University of Florida,
Master of Science in Water Resources Management from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. He also holds ABD/PhD Candidacy in Geography at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison. Adam is completing a Master of Arts in Elementary and Middle
Grades Education from Lee University. His research interests lie in evaluating how river
systems response to both climatic change and human land use disturbances. He has
worked with public, private, and government stakeholders in understanding how the
science in river systems is affected by both climate change and land use. As faculty at
several universities and as a certified teacher in the public school system, Adam includes
the science of rivers and climate change in teaching public school science to elementary
and middle grade students. He is a strong believer that science is best taught by allowing
students to experiment and experience in the laboratory, in the field, and in the classroom.
He is currently working towards becoming a National Board Certified Teacher, and enjoys
riding motorcycles with his wife.
Grossner, Jennifer
Jennifer has a Bachelor‟s degree is in Elementary Education with an emphasis in early

Education Programs and a full-time faculty member for Ottawa University. Her
background is in education and she has been a full-time on-ground faculty member in the
education program at the Ottawa University residential campus in Ottawa, KS, a Math
Assessment and Curriculum Supervisor for an educational consulting firm in Scottsdale,
AZ, and a public school teacher in Phoenix, AZ. Jennifer lives in the Phoenix area and
when she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Gurley, Renee
Renee‟s journey as an educator began in the Black Hills of South Dakota where she
received a BA in English. She received her secondary English teaching credential at the
University of Southern Colorado and her MA at California State University, San
Bernardino. She teaches English and English as a Second Language (ESL) at the colligate
level. Renee Gurley lives in Joshua Tree, CA and has been an educator for the past
decade. She enjoys sitting in coffee shops on her days off and writing stories about the
world around her, rock climbing (when she has the time), yoga and traveling.

Cindy has a Bachelor in Business Administration degree in Accounting from the
University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and a Masters degree in Business Administration
from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. She earned her CPA license in 1983 and
previously held four securities licenses. She is currently the Finance director for a
performing arts non-profit organization. Cindy has a broad base of accounting experience
in cost accounting, financial analysis, accounting operations and internal controls
documentation in the financial services industry. The companies she has worked for range
from a start-up to large national insurance company. She has been an adjunct instructor at
Ottawa University – Wisconsin since 2003. Her main pastime is ballroom dance and
traveling in the US.
Haines, Mary
Mary Haines studied at University of Alabama, Florida Southern, University of South
Florida and Western Illinois University where she received her Bachelor‟s in
Accountancy, Masters in Business Administration and CPA license. After a career in
corporate accounting with firms such as Standard Oil in Chicago, The John Connolly
Group in Iowa, and Kindercare Learning Centers in Alabama, Mary has served in such
positions as Operations Controller, Assistant Director of Finance, Accounting Manager,
and Controller. Mary now works part time as an adjunct online instructor for Ottawa
University. Mary also works part time for her local church assisting young adults
pursuing ministry as a career and coordinating fundraising events to raise support for
missions.
Hankins, Amy
Amy Hankins is an adjunct instructor and subject matter expert for Ottawa University.
She spent her undergraduate career at Missouri State University earning a BSE in English
and her graduate career at Baker University earning an MLA with a literature emphasis.
Currently she is enjoying teaching and learning from her students.
Hanridge, Amy
Amy Hanridge completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology at The University
of Chicago, her Master of Arts degree in Anthropology at the University of Iowa, and her
Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing through Spalding University. As a cultural
anthropologist, she has worked as a cross-cultural consultant with police departments and
in teacher-training programs, she has assisted with research on immigrant expert scholars
in Iowa, and she conducted original ethnographic research on crisis medical decisionmaking in a neonatal intensive care nursery in India. She has also taught cultural
anthropology, women‟s studies, critical thinking and writing courses for universities and
community colleges and online. As a writer, Amy has published short stories, essays,
editorials and book reviews. She lives with her husband and daughter in the White
Mountains of Eastern Arizona. Amy enjoys all the hiking and outdoor opportunities
available around her Arizona mountain home. She also loves to read, knit, cook, garden
and she competes with her border collie in dog agility.
Hanson, Tim
Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Management and
Communication at Concordia University in St Paul, Minnesota and a Master of Science
Degree in Public Safety Executive Leadership at St Cloud State University in St Cloud,
Minnesota. He has thirty years of experience in supervisory, management, and executive
positions. Tim is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University. He teaches graduate and
undergraduate courses in a variety of topics. He makes his home in northern Minnesota
where he and his wife enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and camping.
Hardy, Richard
Rich Hardy was a research geophysicist before going to law school. He practiced health
law for a number of years in Oklahoma, where he represented and advised physicians and
hospitals on a number of matters. He then accompanied his wife to medical school, where
he taught Health Law and Medical ethics for three years at Saba University school of
Medicine, while he also took medical school classes. He and his wife live in Grove,
Oklahoma. Rich Hardy has been teaching as an adjunct for Ottawa University since 2005.
Henry, Justin
Justin Henry earned his undergraduate degrees from Sterling College in Sterling, KS. He
completed his doctoral work at the University of Kansas. Justin is currently serving as
Superintendent of Schools for the Goddard Public School System in Goddard, Kansas,a
suburb of Wichita and one of the fastest growing districts in Kansas. Previously he was
Superintendent of Schools for Southeast of Saline Schools in Gypsum, KS. Justin served
in a variety of roles at Ottawa High School in Ottawa, Kansas over the course of nine
years. These duties ranged from principal, science instructor and a coach. Justin has taught
education courses at multiple colleges across Kansas and has served as an NCA visiting
chair for multiple Kansas schools, helping them with their school improvement plans.
Henry, Michael
Michael Henry has a Master‟s of Science in Education from the University of Kansas and
has an extensive communications career in corporate media, television production and
organizational development. With over 20 years experience in digital media and
television, he has taught television production, written and produced corporate training
videos and Instructional Television Programming for PBS Affiliates. Michael has worked
in Public Relations and as an advisor in Corporate Communications for Fortune 500
companies. His research interests in communication focus on the role of media selection
and social presence in online learning environments. He has been teaching online courses
for over 15 years and is an eLearning Producer with Point-Productions. He is a pastpresident with the American Society of Training and Development, and continues to
explore the affects of media and communication technologies. Michael lives in Kansas
City, where he serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Repertory Theatre.
Hernandez, Patricia
Trish Hernandez is the Director of Graduate Studies in Counseling and Assistant Professor
of Professional Counseling at Ottawa University. She is a licensed as a Psychologist and
Substance Abuse Counselor in the State of Arizona. Prior to joining Ottawa University,
she was employed as a Therapist and worked in several mental health organizations. Areas
of competency include: substance abuse treatment, adolescents, group treatment, forensic
populations, and supervision.
Hobson, Diane
Diane Hobson holds a B.S. in Secondary Education, an M.A. in Educational Technology
and an Ed.D in Instructional Technology and Distance Education.She is currently the
Director of Curriculum, Data and Testing for Trimble Local Schools in Glouster, Ohio.
She has been involved in education for the last 18 years. She is experienced working in an
online environment and understands the challenges that must be overcome to create
quality educational programs for virtual learning. She is particularly interested in research
that deals with determining factors that improve online education, instructional design that
compliments the learning styles of online students, and the globalization of education due
to virtual learning.
Holbert, Todd
Todd holds a Masters degree in Management, a Masters degree in Education and has been
teaching with Ottawa University for 14 years. Todd has taught in the face to face program
at Ottawa University Kansas City in both the graduate and undergraduate programs in a
myriad of curriculums. Todd has also been very involved in the Ottawa Online program
for 3 years acting as an instructor, as well as authoring several (3) Ottawa Online
courses. Todd is currently employed at Sprint University at the Sprint Nextel
Corporation in Overland Park Kansas. As a senior Program Manager, Todd main focus is
to manage training programs ranging from technical and IT to Leadership and
Management skills.

Wayne Hollman earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from San Diego State

Degree in Finance from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also holds a
Graduate Postsecondary Teaching Certificate from San Diego State University. He has
over twenty years of experience in the financial services industry, where he has held many
responsible positions of authority with some of the top brokerage firms in the nation.
Career highlights include being a key player in launching an internet-based financial
services firm featured in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and many other wellrespected publications.. Wayne has been providing online instruction since 2005.
Holston, Kayong
Kayong Holston is the Director of Business Programs at Ottawa University. Her
background includes a unique blend of corporate, government, and educational
experience. Prior to joining Ottawa University, She worked as a director in the community
services and career development fields. She has published numerous articles in
professional publications, one of which was selected as the best paper for the Institute of
Behavioral and Applied Management. Kayong has served as the Organizational Behavior
& Theory Track Chair for the International Academy of Business Disciplines and as Area
Representative for the American Society for Competitiveness. She is a member of the
Academy of Management, National Register's Who's Who in Executives and
Professionals, and the Executive Women's Golf Association.
Howard, Undraye
Undraye Howard holds a Bachelor‟s in Business and a Masters in Communication, with
an emphasis on training and development, both from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee. Undraye is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree in Urban Studies at the
University Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He served as a subject matter expert for the creation of
the Intercultural Communication online course. Undraye has served nearly twenty years in
the nonprofit human service arena holding such positions as an executive director of a
community based organization, youth care counselor, manager of residential homes and at
current serves as as vice president for a national nonprofit membership organization
serving human service organizations across the nation. Undraye lives in Wisconsin with
his wife and when he is not working, he enjoys travel, music and football.
Hoyer, Stephen
Stephen Hoyer completed his Bachelor and Master‟s degrees at the University of
Nebraska at Kearney, and earned a doctorate in Applied Behavioral Studies at Oklahoma
State University. Stephen was a professor in the Psychology and Counseling Department
at Pittsburg State University where he taught for 16 years. He has completed a retraining
program at the University of Tulsa and earned a Respecialization Certificate in Clinical
Psychology. Stephen has worked for many years as a psychotherapist, and he currently is
involved in consulting work and operating a holistic learning center. Stephen‟s clinical
experience and interests include working with abuse victims, anxiety disorders, and
religious issues. He currently lives in Pittsburg, Kansas and when he is not working he
enjoys running, woodworking, and playing guitar.
Hubley-Patterson, Allison
Allison Hubley holds a Master of Science in Administration (Concentration: Health
Services Administration) from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business
Administration from Wayne State University. Prior to entering the education field on a
fulltime basis, she served in various administrative positions with Henry Ford Health
System in Detroit, Michigan.
Huff, Michael
Michael Huff has his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from UCLA and his Master's
Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University. He also has a Certificate in College
Counseling from UCLA to aid his students in their future academic goals. He has taught
several different Psychology courses by face-to-face and online. Michael is currently
working in a high school with adolescents in a counseling and teaching capacity. He is
interested in the way our gender influences our behavior and his emphasis is in counseling
and diagnosing mental disorders as well as human sexuality. In his free time he enjoys
cooking, bowling, spending time with his family and of course, talking about psychology!
Hynes, Jeffeory
Jeff Hynes received an Associate of Arts Degree from Phoenix College, Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Police Administration and Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership
from Northern Arizona University. His doctoral Degree in Education also from N.A.U.
Jeff is a thirty one year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department and is currently the
Commander of the Desert Horizon Precinct and oversees approx 270 officers and manages
a budget of 22 million dollars. Since 1989, he has been an adjunct professor / instructor,
curriculum development specialist, and Internet course developer for a wide variety of
courses including police and public safety, management, leadership skills, homeland
security and criminology. Jeff has taught at several Arizona universities and the Arizona
Peace Officer Standards Training Board (Arizona-POST).

Peggy Jenkins graduated from Bridgewater College,Virginia (BS) and Penn State
University (MS). Professional accounting background includes experience as an auditor
for KPMG and she is a Certified Public Accountant (Pennsylvania). The education career
began with a move to Great Britain in the 1990s teaching accounting at the University of
Wales, Bangor. She currently teaches full-time at SUNY Canton in northern New York
and spends leisure time travelling and searching for new experiences.
Johnson, Perry
Perry Johnson currently works with the Veterans Administration and maintains a private
practice in addition to teaching. His primary area of practice is in addictions and in the
treatment of trauma. He has been the director of both inpatient and outpatient treatment
programs and has developed several treatment programs. A current research project is in
relapse awareness that focuses on stress identification and utilization.
Jones, Carrie
Carrie Jones holds an MBA from University of Colorado - Colorado Springs. Her
concentration was in marketing, but has spent the majority of her career working with the
government. She entered the Air Force in 2003 as a Health Services Administrator where
she had a variety of roles including overseeing the clinic's benefits and patient
administration section, inspection reviews, and referral management. After her time on
Active Duty, she obtained a position as the Administrative Officer/Operations Director for
the Mental Health Department at Southern Arizona VA Health Care Systems. This
position included budget management, performance measure tracking, patient complaint
responses, and data analysis. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from
Fuller Theological Seminary - Southwest Campus.

Melissa earned a M.Ed. in Educational Technology from Northern Arizona University and
a bachelor‟s degree in Mathematics from Ottawa University. She has over fifteen years‟
experience in education as a leader, educator, trainer and analyst with over half of those
years are in online education. Melissa enjoys her work as the Associate Dean of The Art
Institute of California Hollywood while continuing her PhD studies. When she is not busy
with her professional endeavors, she enjoys volunteer work, spending time with her
knitting group, hikes, golf, art, museums and listening to music. Melissa has five adult
sons and lives in California.
Kamal, Ayesha
Ayesha Kamal holds a B.S. degree in marketing from the University of Louisville and an
M.B.A. from Webster University. Currently she is completing her doctoral studies from
Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. She is a business consultant and has her own
consulting firm. Her background includes a unique blend of corporate, entrepreneurial,
and educational experience. She has been teaching as an Adjunct Professor for Ottawa
University's Indiana Campus since 2004. Ms. Ms. Kamal has an extensive background in
management, advertising and marketing, promotions and public relations. She has worked
for several Fortune 500 companies with global operations. She frequently travels across
USA, Europe and Asia for consulting projects and is currently developing seminars and
workshops on various management and marketing topics including new product
development, marketing research, international marketing and project management. When
not working she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and planning her next
vacation.
Keogh, Matt
Matt Keogh earned a Ph.D. in Business Organization and Management from Capella
University, an MS in Electronic Commerce from National University, an MBA with a
focus on Computer Resources and Information Management from Webster University,
and a BA in Chemistry from the University of Virginia. He completed the first year of a
Juris Doctor program at Concord Law School, is a certified Project Management
Professional (PMP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), and he
has earned a Six Sigma Black Belt. Matt has over twenty years of leadership and
management experience in the U.S. Marine Corps, Ford Motor Company, United
Technologies Corporation, and Pratt & Whitney. He lives in Leucadia, California and
enjoys surfing.
Kermendy, Teri
Teri Kermendya earned BA in Communication, emphasis Public Relations and
Advertising at the University of Wisconsin. She attended Keller Graduate School of
Management, where she earned an MBA in Marketing. She has worked in a marketing
role her whole career and is currently the Marketing Manager for a local medical
distributor. She has been teaching Marketing, Advertising, Communication and Public
Relations for over ten years. Teri is married with a son and daughter and lives in
Wisconsin.
Koh, Shana
Shana Koh holds a doctorate in Education, with a focus on business leadership and
management, a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in English Literature. She has
enjoyed teaching since 2000 at the university and high school levels. In addition, Shana
also worked at NASA‟s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, CA at the executive
level in the Chief Scientist Office working on strategic university relations and research.
Thus, her experience includes business industry, aerospace, and technology. In addition,
She has performed consulting and research work on teacher leadership and management
skills. Shana has taught many writing courses such as English Composition and
Business Writing as well as Literature courses over the years. Her interdisciplinary
background serves her well indeed. In her spare time, Shana enjoys staying active with

Krenke, Paulette
Paulette Krenke works full time for Ottawa University at the campus in Chandler,
Arizona. She is an Associate Professor of Education. Her current responsibilities include
advising undergraduate students and teaching courses in Education and liberal arts.
Kulpa, Becky
Becky Kulpa earned her bachelor‟s degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on
history and politics from Drake University in Des Moines Iowa and a Master‟s Degree in
Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University. She is an adjunct online
instructor for Ottawa University. When not teaching for Ottawa University, she is a
middle school social studies teacher. In her free time Becky loves to enjoy the outdoors
either hiking or running here in sunny Arizona.
Kwan, Angela
Angela Kwan received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Grand Canyon University and
her Masters of Arts from the University of Phoenix. Angela retired from the Phoenix
Police Department with more than 21 years of law enforcement experience. Her varied
past assignments include the Patrol Division, Training, Communications, Homeland
Defense, and Family Investigations. She is the Public Safety Programs/Paralegal Faculty
Chair for Rio Salado College in Phoenix, Arizona. She maintains her Arizona Peace
Officer certification as a reserve officer for the Phoenix Police Department. Her instructor
training background includes physical fitness, defensive tactics, firearms, cultural
diversity, and general instructor. She has been a member of the Rio Salado Adjunct
Faculty since 1997 and Ottawa University since 2006. She is on the board of the Phoenix
Police Athletic Club, which promotes athletic events for department employees and their
families. Angela also serves as the Chairperson for the Subject Matter Expert Committee
on Physical Fitness which is a part of the Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training
Board, which governs and certifies all peace officers in the State of Arizona.

Lacoste, Linda
Linda Lacoste earned a bachelor's degree in social work, a Master's Degree in Higher
Education and an MBA from Ottawa University. In addition, she has completed graduate
work in Economics and is presently pursuing a PhD degree. Her professional background
includes ten years of senior level management with the Walt Disney Company, managing
an e-commerce and travel call center. This was a great environment to see lessons learned
in business school come to life and she is eager to share this with her students. She lives
just outside of Ft. Worth, Texas and serves as Chair of the Business Department at Tarrant
County College-Trinity River Campus.
Lane, Matt
Matt Lane, completed his undergraduate work at the University of Dayton majoring in
History, English, and Secondary Education. He earned an M.A. in English Literature from
Gannon University. Matt has been a high school English teacher for the past fifteen years
and currently works just outside of Erie, PA. In addition to high school teaching
experiences, he has also served as a reader for the AP English exam and as an adjunct
English instructor for Mercyhurst College (West Campus). He received his M.Ed. in
Educational Development from Wilkes University.
Leland, Dana
Dana Leland has a BBA in Accounting from the University of Incarnate Word, an MBA
in Business from UTSA, a Master's in Taxation from FAU, and a PhD in Finance from
NCU. Her professional experience includes working in both the public and private
accounting sectors. Most recently, she worked for a global manufacturing company as the
Assistant Controller. Dana teaches online courses in the accounting, finance, and
management areas and does freelance writing for a small web-based marketing firm. Her
articles focus on tax laws and accounting solutions for small businesses. Past topics have
ranged from internal auditing to developing core competencies. Dana‟s hobbies include
cycling, kickboxing, watching movies, and entertaining her 3 sons. She is also a huge San
Antonio Spurs fan and tries to attend at least one game per season. Go Spurs Go!
Linkin, Lisa
Lisa Linkin received a B.S. from Northern Arizona University in psychology and her M.A
from Pepperdine University for Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and
family therapy. She has been a child and family therapist for the past twenty years
including out-patient, in-patient, residential settingsand provided home-based services.
Lisa currently has her own private. I especially enjoy working with adolescents and their
families. She is a member of the Arizona Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
and continues to actively participate in continuing education classes. Lisa has always
wanted to combine her passion to help others with education. She enjoys being there for
her students, helping them be successful. She has been teaching online psychology courses
since 2002. She has also taken classes online classes and understand the challenges and
advantages of the online learning environment.
Lo, Timothy; Ph.D.
Timothy Lo graduated from Southern Illinois University with a B.A. degree and continued his
graduate studies at Lehigh University where he received his MS and PhD in
mathematics. He enjoyed a successful career designing computer systems and solving complex IT
problems in the commercial and defense telecommunications industry. He has been teaching since
2004 in both the traditional classroom setting and online. He utilizes computers wherever
possible to aid students in tackling mathematical concepts. Timothy and his wife live in the suburb
of Dallas, Texas. In his leisure time, he enjoys various sports, traveling, gardening, reading
philosophy books and enjoys classical music. He is also active in his church as a mentor to young
adults.
Lorenzoni, Teresa
Teresa Lorenzoni earned a B.S. in Business, Indiana University and a M.A. in Industrial
Relations, University of Minnesota. She has fifteen years of human resources leadership
experience. She spent the majority of her career with Scott Paper/Kimberly-Clark, but also
has a number of years with ALCAN and Allied-Signal. Her background includes a fairly
balanced base of union and non-union experiences. She has also provided human
resources support and leadership to a variety of salaried and executive professionals.
Love, Carrie
Carrie Love received her BA in International Affairs from Northern Arizona University
and an MBA in Marketing from Ashford University in 2010. She is currently earning her
Doctorate in Business Administration in Marketing from Argosy University in Phoenix,
Arizona. Carrie co-owns Marketing Science, a consulting and marketing research firm
which helps small businesses use Internet Marketing and Social Media to research their
business and marketing goals. She enjoys brining the latest technologies and industry
trends into the classroom to share with her students. Carrie resides in the Phoenix
metropolitan area and enjoys traveling, trail running, downhill mountain biking, and
practicing hot yoga.
Lowe, Kara
Kara is an assistant professor of communication studies and business at Ottawa
University‟s Ottawa, Kan., campus. She earned her master‟s degree in communication at
Wichita State University. In addition to teaching, Kara is a busy mother of two small
children. Her youngest is a cancer survivor. Kara devotes much of her time to
advocating for childhood cancer awareness and funding, and taking her daughter to youth
rodeo competitions. She is also a certified American Red Cross disaster relief trainer in
Disaster Public Affairs.

Magee, Kay
Kay has both a Bachelor and Master degree in Mathematics from Villanova University.
She teaches for Ottawa University and Philadelphia University, where she also serves as
the Director of Men's Basketball Operations. Kay has been a high school mathematics
teacher, private mathematics tutor. Kay has taught topics ranging from Algebra through
Calculus. Her teaching experience has involved working with all levels of high school
students and adult learners as well. She teaches for other universities as well. Kay lives in
the Philadelphia area. When she is not working she enjoys attending college basketball
games, running, yoga and spending time with family and friends.
Malone, Juana
Juana Malone has a B.S. in Math with a minor in Computer Science from the University of
Alabama in Huntsville and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Operations Research from Florida
Institute of Technology. Before beginning her career in teaching she worked for Teledyne Brown
Engineering as a Programmer/System Analyst. She now teaches full time at a community college.
Juana has been teaching mathematics for 16 years and has been teaching math online for 10 years.
She is married with three daughters and one son-in-law. Her favorite pastimes are reading and
shopping!
Maningo-Salinas, Marie “Jay”
Jay Maningo-Salinas has a PhD in Human Service Administration from Capella
University, a Master of Science in Human Service Administration from Spertus College, a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Marketing from Alverno College, and an Associate of
Science in Nursing from the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. Jay has been a
nurse since 1992. Her clinical background includes hematology, oncology, surgery, solid
organ and bone marrow transplant. She is the current Clinical Nurse Manager for the
Dialysis, Apheresis and Outpatient Infusion Department at Mayo Clinic Hospital. She has
been an adjunct clinical nursing and course room instructor for several traditional and
online colleges in the past ten years. In addition, Jay is a requested speaker on medical
issues and has published in several nursing journals. She is a member of professional
organizations including the Infusion Nurses Society and American Organization of
Nursing Executives. She is an accreditation inspector for the Foundation for the
Accreditation of Cellular Therapy which accredits blood and marrow transplant programs
throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
Marino, Mark R.
Mark R. Marino earned his Ed.M. in Mathematics and B.A. in Mathematics from the
State University of New York at Buffalo. He also holds permanent New York State
Teaching Certification in Mathematics. His current and background math instructional
duties include working with diverse student populations, college, university, community
college, high school, middle school, adults, in both urban and suburban situations. He is
frequently invited to speak at international, national and state conferences about online
teaching & learning, distance education, mathematics education and computer literacy.
He has received numerous teaching and scholarly awards.
Mayes, Cheryl
Cheryl Mayes has Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education, a Master's of Arts in
Elementary Administration and an Educational Specialist's in Superintendency. She has
taught first, third and fifth grades, remedial reading and has also been an elementary
principal and superintendent of schools. At the collegiate level, she primarily taught
graduate courses: School Law, Foundations of Education, Closing the Achievement Gap,
Curriculum and Instruction, Classroom Management, Intro to Administration and
Supervision of Instruction. Cheryl‟s philosophy is to prepare the very best people for the
responsibility of educating our children. She has been fortunate to have had many years
"in the field." Her goal to add the "real world" aspect to the textbook and other resources.
McCarty, Elaine
Elaine McCarty received a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the
University of Phoenix and an undergrad degree in Communications from Penn State. She
has been an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University in Brookfield, WI since 2007. Elaine is
an HR Manager for the Crisis Prevention Institute – a company that trains human services
professionals how to deal with aggressive behavior with their patients, students, or
clients. She spent a good deal of her career in the security industry as well as an
interesting time as an employment recruiter for the Philadelphia Sixers and Flyers.
Although originally from Philly, she now lives in Wisconsin with her husband and their two
lab puppies.
McClary, Sybil
Sybil McClary earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education and later
completed first a Master's Degree in Public Administration then a Master's Degree and
PhD in Psychology. She has taught for Ottawa University since 1987. Sybil teaches
traditional evening classes in Overland Park and also online. She lives in the Kansas City
area and enjoys the special times with her three grown children and three grandchildren.
Sybil loves food and eating out as well as cooking. She continues to study French and
travels to France when she can. She listens to Public Radio and reads the New Yorker
almost cover to cover every week. Sybil takes advantage of the music and fine arts
available in the Kansas City area. Life is good with teaching wonderful students and
enjoying family and friends.
McCreight, Jeff; PhD
Jeff McCreight holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Southern Illinois University in
Carbondale. Jeff has been an educator since 1994. He has taught at every level of
undergraduate mathematics in courses ranging from introduction courses to statistics to
analysis, calculus and differential equations. He has been the lead faculty in mathematics
for Ottawa University since 2010 and is located at the residential campus in Ottawa, KS.
His passion is for all things mathematics.
McCullough, Russ
Russ McCullough completed his BA degree at St. Cloud State University and his PhD
from Iowa State University. He joined OU in 2011 and is the Wayne Angell Chair of
Economics at Ottawa University. His real estate business ventures began with college
student housing and grew to include other residential and commercial ventures. He
branched into other entrepreneurial endeavors including a construction company, a
restaurant, a boutique hotel and an equestrian center. He is veteran in the classroom and
has published some innovative economics learning supplements. He lives in Ottawa, KS
with his wife and son where he enjoys fishing, running, volleyball and softball. He is
excited to devote his energy, passion and leadership to OU in his continuing mission to
spread the good word about economics and entrepreneurship.
McEleney, Chris
Chris McEleney earned her B.S. in Business Management from Northern Illinois
University and her MBA in Finance from DePaul University. She likes to explore new
opportunities as her interests change and has had a varied career. Chris currently is the
Business Manager of a small accounting/tax firm and has been teaching for Ottawa-WI
since 2004. She enjoys live theater and being outside (WI weather permitting).
McNair, Amy
Amy has a Master of Teaching Degree from Grand Canyon University. She earned her
Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona. Currently she
is finishing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. In addition, Amy has an SEI
(Structured English Immersion) endorsement. She has been teaching English and
Language Arts since 1996 to middle and secondary school students in both private and
public settings. Amy also owns a tutoring company where she not only hires and
manages private tutors, but also does private tutoring herself. Amy has worked with all
educational abilities, group sizes, and age levels, including adults. Currently, she is a
middle school English and Science teacher. Amy is an avid hiker, biker, and runner and
enjoys participating in events, such as marathons and an annual Rim-to-Rim hike through
the Grand Canyon. She looks forward to spending time with her children and her
husband enjoying the outdoors and travelling on long road trips.
Meehan, Robert
Robert Meehan earned his B.A. Social Science from Montclair State University, New
Jersey, his M.A. Human Resources from Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey and
his PhD from Pace University, New York City. He is currently a Managing Partner at
Compass HR Consulting, LLC a human resources consulting firm based in Arizona. His
corporate and consulting experience has been focused on linking improved organization
performance to compensation and benefits. This includes performance management, base
salary, and incentive plans. He has diverse background in human resources, with a
majority of his career spent in the compensation and benefits arena. He is actively
involved in the local HR Community and has served in a variety of local and national
leadership roles.
Mefford, Susan
Susan holds a Master of Science in Management degree with an emphasis in
organizational leadership and project management. She has worked in business for over
25 years. Her passion is to help adult learners understand book concepts so that they can
be adapted to everyday life. Besides teaching, she volunteers at a local hospital and in
her local community. She lives with her husband in Arizona and tries her best to keep up
with six step-grandchildren.
Mello, Lawrence T., Ed.D
Larry Mello obtained his Doctorate in Education from Boston University, a Master‟s
degree from Rhode Island College in School Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts
Degree from Providence College. He has served as a classroom teacher, school principal,
district administrator, college instructor, and for over 25 years, an educational trainer and
consultant. He currently trains classroom teachers in the use of research-based
instructional practices and provides educational leadership training and coaching to
school administrators. Larry has facilitated school reform efforts across the nation, has
conducted numerous program and project evaluations at local, state and national levels,
and has served as a mentor to principals in turn-around schools. His work is grounded in
current research on organizational change, effective teaching and learning and leadership
competency. Larry lives in Phoenix with his wife and has four children and six
grandchildren. His hobbies include reading, camping, traveling and biking.
Metz, Allan
Allan Metz received received a B.A. in History, a Masters in Library Science, a Masters
in History, and is in the process of earning a Masters in Political Science. In addition to
History, one of his other major academic interests is popular culture. He has edited two
books (both of which are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library) on this theme and a
number of published articles. When not teaching, he likes to follow the news and also
Major League Baseball. The Conan show on TBS accessed via my computer is a favorite,
particularly the monologues. (And, by the way, Conan O'Brien was a History major).
Meyer, Jenne
Jenne Meyer received her BA in International Relations from the University of
Wisconsin, Milwaukee, her MBA from Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, WI), and
her Ph.D. in Consumer Psychology from Capella University (Minneapolis, MN). She is
currently the Director Global Strategic Marketing at GE Healthcare, responsible for all Bto-C and B-to-B marketing, market research and business intelligence, web site
communications, communications, and collaboration on design and development of the
museum and factory tours through the visitor perspective. She lives in Milwaukee with
her husband, son, and two black labs.
Miles, Fred
Fred Miles completed his Master's of Science in Leadership from the Ken Blanchard
College of Business at Grand Canyon University in 2005 and moved into his next
"career" as an adjunct faculty member teaching various Human Resources classes
throughout the greater Phoenix area. He spent 26 years with Motorola and retired in
2001. His entire career was in Human Resources that included numerous assignments in
Staffing, Employee Relations, Training and Development and Organization
Effectiveness. Fred is also a retired USAF Lt Colonel and spent 6 years on active duty and
19 in the reserves.
Mitchell, Debby
Debby Mitchell is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University in Phoenix, Arizona. She
earned a Master's Degree of Education at Arizona State University. She taught for thirtyfive years in the early childhood field. She is currently an education curriculum writer.
Debby is also a desert interpreter and enjoys teaching and writing about the Sonoran
Desert.
Mitchell, Karen
Karen Mitchell is Professor of Political Science and Dean of Instruction at Ottawa
University Kansas City. She has taught students to develop credit by assessment
portfolios online and in the classroom. She has been trained as an assessor by CAEL, The
Council for Adult and Experiential Learning. Dr. Mitchell received her Ph.D. from the
University Missouri-Kansas City.
Molina, Judy
Judy Molina has her M.ED in Computers in Education. She has instructed technology
courses at Ottawa University for eight years and is currently working for the North Kansas
City School District in the area of special education as a Speech Therapist. She has also
taught at the post secondary level and in adult education classes. She has presented
workshops on technology in education at the local, state and national levels.
Monahan, Patrick
Patrick Monahan is the founding and managing partner of Monahan Moorhead, PLC. His
firm predominantly practices commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Patrick
obtained his Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University and his Juris Doctor (with
honors) from the University of Tulsa. Prior to receiving his undergraduate and graduate
degrees, he was an infantry team leader in the U.S. Army. Patrick is an Arizona native
where he currently lives with his two daughters.
Moore, Gregg
Greg Moore received his MBA with an emphasis in finance from the University of
Kansas and is currently pursuing his Doctorate - Finance. He worked for American
Century Investments for 16 years and enjoys investment analysis and valuation.
Currently, Mr. Moore serves as Treasurer on the board of directors for DLO Water, a
nonprofit organization focusing on raising funds to drill wells for clean water. Mr. Moore
resides in Missouri where he and his wife are raising 3 children. He enjoys attending his
kid‟s activities. In addition, he continues to maintain his hobbies which include running,
backpacking and cycling.
Morriss, Mary Patricia
Mary Morriss earned her Bachelor's degree in English and History from Mount St. Mary's
College in Los Angeles, and a Masters in Philosophy from Catholic University of
American, Washington DC. She also has a MA in Religious Studies from the University
of St. Thomas, Rome. Mary works full time at Wichita State University as an instructional
technologist and instructor. Her background is in English and History although with
her advanced degrees are in Philosophy which she claims is the "love of her life" Besides
teaching Mary's other passion is saving unwanted animals. She owns and operates a nokill animal sanctuary in Wichita and currently has 200 dogs and 200 cats available for
adoption. It is Mary's goal to care for as many animals as possible until good homes can
be found.
Murphy, Michael
Michael is a graduate of the Southwest Alabama Police Academy, FBI National
Academy, and Northwestern University Center for Public Safety's School of Police Staff
and Command. Michael holds an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Faulkner
State Community College, and Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Troy State
University. He has served in the following capacities since 1986 - Dispatcher,
Correctional Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Investigator, Major/Chief Deputy, Chief of Police
and Crime Information Agent.
Muscia, Tony
Tony Muscia earned a Doctorate in Management, an MBA, a Master‟s Degree in
Psychology, and a Bachelor‟s Degree in Journalism/Advertising. He is President and
CEO of Global Communication Alliance which specializes in educational consulting and
seminar development. He also serves as a Consulting Dean for the Portman Institute of
Technology in Singapore. His background includes a unique blend of corporate,
entrepreneurial, and educational experience combined with extensive classroom teaching
Tony served as the Director of Graduate Business Studies and Director of Enrollment
Management at Ottawa University. He was CEO of the Speakers Academy. He has
owned and operated ten businesses, and his corporate experience includes senior
management positions in several multi-million dollar companies. He was also a
marketing and management strategist for the Small Business Development Center.
Previously, Tony was Director of the Small Business Management Program and the
Casino Management Program at Scottsdale Community College.

Nelson, Jane
Jane Nelson has a B.S. degree from Florida State University in Elementary Education, a
Master Degree from University of California-Fullerton in Library Science, and an
Education Specialist degree in Elementary Administration from Northwest Missouri State
University. Jane‟s background is in education, and she has been a teacher in the K-12
school system, at some point teaching every grade level from kindergarten through seniors
in high school. Specifically, she has taught all grade levels k-6 and has been a library
media specialist for all grades k-12. Her teaching experience has involved her working
with diverse groups of students in different types of school settings as well as teaching in a
variety of geographical areas in the United States. Jane lives in the Warrensburg, Missouri
with her husband. When she is not working, she enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction
books and raising Labrador Retrievers.
Nemecek, Jack
Dr. Nemecek is a Public Health Advisor with the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. He is currently assigned to the National Center for
Immunization and Respiratory Diseases where he works as a Project Officer in grants
management with state and local immunization program grantees. He has been associated
with the immunization program since 1995, with a focus on management of the national
Vaccines for Children Program with a $4 billion dollar annual budget. Prior to his CDC
career, Jack was a Healthcare Administrator with the United States Navy, concluding a 22
yr. career. As a healthcare administrator, he held numerous senior executive level
positions to include Director of Human Resources, Director of Education and Training,
Director of Administration, Director of Healthcare Construction, and Chief Administrator
for a 500 bed hospital with a staff of 1,000. He was also Chief Executive Officer of his
own independent healthcare consulting firm for 10 years.
Nordman, Jenny
Jenny Nordman has earned a MEd in Professional Leadership from Regis University, a
Graduate Certificate in Early Literacy Interventions from the University of Colorado, and
a BA in History and Elementary Education, also from the University of Colorado. In
addition, she has a current Professional K-6 Teaching License. Jenny is a reading
specialist with several years of experience working in higher education, teaching both
classroom-based and online courses. Her areas of professional expertise include
curriculum development, reading interventions, instructional design, and classroom
management techniques. She is currently a PhD candidate in the dissertation process at
Northcentral University..
Nuñez, Armando
Armando Nuñez holds a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in
Leadership and Strategy from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Science in
Business Management from Tarkio College. Armando is a certified DDI Leadership
Series instructor and has also developed and presented Human Resources leadership
training curriculum for organizations such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and Bayer
Health. Armando Nuñez is a human resources and business leader with over two decades
of experience. He has a strong record of human resources and operations management,
internal investigations, and training leadership in both domestic and international markets.
He is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer for a critical access hospital in
Wyoming. He was Director of Human Resources-Central Europe & Asia for a Fortune
500 company and Internal Management Consultant & Managing Director for a multibillion dollar organization. Since 2006 he has taught human resources and business related
classes for Ottawa University and Johnson County (KS) Community College Business and
Technology Center.

Mike Otto has served as a principal, teacher, professor, and school board member. both
attend high school. He earned a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy
Analysis. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mike feels his greatest strength is
my ability to teach, inspire and motivate people, and his dedication to students. I
believe that my past successes as a school administrator, student advocate, and
university instructor will help his student grow as learners. His career in education has
been wonderful and rewarding. He is married two boys.
Owens, Rick
Rick has a BA in Computer-based Information Systems [Park University, 1998, Summa
Cum Laude], an MS in Management Information Systems [Friends University, 2000,
First Graduate [Summa] and a PhD [abd] in Business Communication [Capella
University, 2008]. He has taught for Ottawa in Kansas City for several years and is
excited at joining the Ottawa Online Community.
His background is primarily Information Systems with a heavy dose of mathematics and
business. In industry, he has worn many hats, from web developer to program manager
to network systems analyst to national business analyst. His education philosophy can
best be expressed as "always expect the best from your students and be ready to help
them deliver it".
Rick lives with his wife and three cats in a small town north of Kansas City. When not
working, he enjoys gardening, online gaming and growing his extensive collection of
blu-ray and DVD movies.
Oxley, Jeanne
Since 1989, developed and managed multi-million dollar successful marketing and
advertising campaigns for both IBM and Hewlett-Packard. Managed national and
international marketing and advertising campaigns resulting in market leadership
position for IBM and Hewlett-Packard computer products. Presently, leading the
National Account Management team for the General Services Administration managing
the $1 billion dollar Health and Human Services Account for IT products and services.
Hold several adjunct faculty positions teaching Marketing and Advertising. Furthermore
participate as an active member of the American Marketing Association and a former
officer of the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. Earned a Master of Science Degree
in 1994 from Johns Hopkins University and in 1991 a Bachelors Degree in Business
Administration from National Louis University.

Papazafiropoulos, John
I received my BA from the University of South Alabama in Psychology with an emphasis
in Biology. I hold an MS in Urban Studies and Aviation with an additional concentration
in Neurophysiological (Biological) Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
I also have graduate level training in Counseling Education and Neuropsychological
Psychology; and postbaccalaureate training in Computer Science and Information
Technology. Currently I am completing the requirements for a Ph.D. in Organizational
Management with a concentration in Leadership.
Experience:
I have held management and senior management positions for companies such as
General Electric and Sprint. I have also served in the clinical arena working with
adolescents suffering with from both psychological and substance abuse problems and
performing advanced neuropsychological exams.
Parker, Angie
Bachelor of Arts in Education and Leadership from Arizona State University in 1969,
Masters of Education in Educational Technology from Arizona State University in 1989,
Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum & Instruction from Arizona State University in 1994. In
this degree I also had a cognate in Distance Education.
In 2009 I was awarded a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award to conduct research on distance
education in South Africa. My travels took me across the Eastern Cape too five different
universities. South Africa wants to increase the skill level of its population and the
government understands that distance learning is one possible way for that to occur.
For the past 15 years I have had the privilege to teach courses on education and
educational technology to over 300 online students. I find that teaching online allows me
to truly get to know my students. In the traditional classroom, I understood the goals and
issues of maybe 25% of my students. In the virtual classroom, I can interact with them on
a personal level almost daily.
My hobbies are exercise and wine. I have visited many countries to learn about wine and
enjoy getting to know the people who are in the industry. For exercise I speed walk and
cycle.
Parr, Jessica PhD
Jessica Parr holds a PhD and an MA in History from the University of New Hampshire,
Durham, as well as an MA in History and an MS in Archives and Preservation Management
from Simmons College. She also received her BA in History in Simmons College. Dr. Parr
has been teaching at the college level since 2005. Her research focuses on the eighteenthcentury religious and legal culture of the Atlantic World. She has been the recipient of a
number of research fellowships, including from The New York Historical Society, The John
Carter Brown Library, and Boston Athenaeum. Prior to becoming an historian, she worked in
a number of archives and museums positions.
Dr. Parr lives on the New Hampshire Seacoast with her husband and their daughter. She
enjoys reading, travel and looks forward to trying paddle boarding this summer.
Pascaretti, Carmen
Carmen Pascaretti received his BSBA and MBA (marketing and finance) degrees from
Wayne State University in Detroit. He attained ABD (all but the dissertation) status from
the University of Michigan in their PhD program of higher educational administration
and supervision. For more than thirty years Carmen has taught at the university level at
seventeen different institutions in the Phoenix and Detroit metropolitan areas. He
currently teaches various online and ground courses in critical thinking, business law,
economics, management, marketing and human resources at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels. Carmen also does some consulting work in educational/financial
administration and planning. He enjoys the interaction of coursework facilitation and the
varied perspectives that are shared among classmates.

Hello, my name is Jagu Patel and I am from California. I have a Masters in History and
have taught several History courses at various community colleges in the Bay Area. I am
currently teaching Geography and History courses online.
I love traveling and have done a lot of it lately. In the past few months I visited Flint
Michigan, Phoenix, and San Diego. In my spare time I like to read, watch tv, and cook.

Dr. Michael Patrick is a veteran educator of 9 years, with experience in elementary

and graduate university courses over the past 3 years, and is passionate about helping
students succeed. He has been formally recognized for his expertise and success with
students in online learning. Dr. Patrick holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership

Science in Pastoral Ministry (Lee University). His research interests focus on

education. He currently resides with his wife and children in Tennessee, and is an avid

Patterson, James
James Patterson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Oakland
University in 1985 and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in
Finance from the University of Michigan in 1993. Mr. Patterson has been employed in the
insurance industry since 1985 and also holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter
(CPCU) certification. He has been involved in management since 1997. Mr. Patterson
and his wife relocated to Arizona from Michigan in 2003 and he has been employed with
Ottawa University since 2006. He primarily teaches in the areas of accounting, finance
and management.
Pattison, Jillian
Mrs. Pattison began her career in Education as a classroom teacher in 2000, decided to
pursue a Master’s degree in Special Education in 2004, at which time she began teaching
students with disabilities, and is now completing her Doctoral degree at the University of
Kansas with an emphasis in technology and teacher preparation.
She has taught classes for the School of Education at Avila University since 2005. Her
research interests include online teacher preparation (specifically in Special Education),
technology and adult learners, and in-service training for both general and special
education teachers.
Pearson, Matthew
Matt Pearson earned his 3 master's degree in Health Administration, Business
Administration and Health Informatics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Southern Methodist University.
Matt has worked for 10 years in the health care industry, holding a variety of leadership
and management positions. He is currently the CEO of a hospital in Kansas City,
Missouri. In addition to health administration Matt has served on the board of directors
for a community clinic, been nominated for Nashville's Emerging Leader of the year
award in the sector of healthcare and has published a children's book. He enjoys playing
guitar, watching movies and spending time with his wife and son.
Pennington, Nan
I have a PhD in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in cognition and learning from
Arizona State University and have been teaching Education and Psychology courses for
about 9 years. My research interests focus on teachers’ belief systems and how they
influence their expectations for their student’s learning. Another area is student’s
perception of instrumentality (when students realize that the course or subjects they are
taking will apply to their future career goals).
Pogue, Laura
Dr. Pogue is the Chief Executive Officer and President of a consulting company she
founded in 2001. Dr. Pogue and her team of professional business consultants provide
corporate online education and training for improved growth and profitability in the public
and private sectors.
Dr. Pogue is also a dedicated business educator, teaching business and management
classes in the corporate, online, and traditional classrooms for the last decade. Her
subject matter expertise is in the area of Management, primarily, and Marketing,
secondarily.
Over the last several years, Dr. Pogue has published and presented academic articles in
the areas of leaders hip, management, executive compensation and international trade.

Poletti, Joseph MS, CPA
Joseph has a Master of Science degree in Accounting. He is an adjunct instructor who
teaches accounting and taxation courses for Ottawa University. He has been teaching
courses in accounting and taxation since 2005.
Joseph's work experience began in 1989 when he graduated from San Diego State
University. Since that time he has held executive-level finance positions in public
accounting and at several publicly-traded corporations. He currently serves as a Tax
Director at a large, public company in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Joseph lives in the Phoenix area with his wife and six children. When he is not working he
enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Powell, Michael
Michael G. Powell currently resides in Thomson, Georgia. He has received a Doctor of
Science in Information Systems and Communications from Robert Morris University
(2009), Master of Science in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan
University (1997) and a Bachelor of Science in Management Science from Kean
University (1995). Dr. Powell is also a Network Officer in the United States Army
Reserve. Dr. Powell has over 18 years in managing information technology from the
military, to industry and public education and has over three years of experience in teach
traditional, hybrid and online management information systems course at the graduate
and undergraduate level. Dr. Powell combines information technology theories and
concepts with real world examples in class that create add value for students with no
experience in the field. Dr. Powell’s hobbies include, spending as much time as possible

Preizler, David
David Preizler is a filmmaker whose commercials have been recognized at international
advertising festivals. He has an MFA in Film from the Art Center College of Design in
Pasadena, and a B.A. in English from the University of Iowa where he studied in the
Undergraduate Writers' Workshop for Fiction.
Proffitt, Curtis
Curtis Proffitt earned his Bachelor degree in History and Psychology at Rio Grande
University, his master’s degree in Information Technology at Webster University, and is
currently a PhD learner at Capella University in Organizational Management with an
emphasis in Information Technology (CAGs, finalizing dissertation).
Curtis works as a Deputy Brigade Commander (Government Civilian) with U.S. Army
Cadet Command. Curtis is responsible for recruiting, training, and commissioning U.S.
Army Officers at colleges and universities in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana,
Mississippi, and Puerto Rico.
Curtis has taught numerous courses in the business, IT, and project management fields
either online or in the classroom. He enjoys working with adult learners who bring
significant ideas and contributions to course discussions.
Putintsev, Lilia
I have a deep interest in European and American history, literature, art history, and
culture. I received my MA degree from the University of Oregon where I specialized in
Soviet and Modern French History. I have a BA degree from Willamette University in
history and French. I have taught Modern Europe, Soviet Union, Imperial Russia, US
History, Western Civilization, and World History online and in the more traditional
classroom setting.
My interest in is cultural and intellectual history, but I also have a deep appreciation for
social history (so, you will definitely see snippets of that in this course!). I will guide you
through this online course and frequently correspond with you on a variety of topics, offer
assistance and advice, and lead you to new and exciting directions in history.

Amie Randall holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of
Phoenix. She currently works in the health care industry as the Manager of
Organizational Learning and Development. Amie has been a Learning and Development
Professional in the financial industry and in the academic world. Amie has 18 years of
adult education experience. She also has 20+ years of management experience. Amie
enjoys learning, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Reagan-Kendrick, Amber, Ph.D.
Dr. Amber Reagan-Kendrick has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish from
Sam Houston State University (1989), a Master of Arts degree in English from the
University of Kansas (1992), and a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of
Kansas (2004). She is an advisor for the Adawe Lifeplan Center and an assistant
professor of English on the College campus. Her background has been in administration,
and once served as a Dean of Student and Community Services. She has taught English
since 1989.
Dr. Amber (as she is affectionately known) lives in Lawrence, Kansas with her husband,
three dogs, two cats, and an assortment of fish. When she is not working, she enjoys
reading, travel, and Zumba.
Reed, Travis
Travis is an adjunct instructor for Ottawa University's Online program. A lifetime resident
of Kansas, Travis received his B.A. in Political Science from Washburn University, and a
Masters in Management Information Systems (2001) from Friends University. He has
been teaching at the college level since 2005. Using technology to effectively deliver
course content for non-traditional and distance learning programs is an area of particular
interest.
Travis currently works for General Dynamics Information Technology and is the project
lead / project manager for the implementation of an enterprise asset management/ERP
system for the United States Postal Service. This is one of the largest ERP
implementations in the world, tracking assets enterprise-wide for the USPS and planning
inventory restocking for items like stamps and money orders.
His return to the Federal sector follows a two year endeavor as the Director of Information
Technology for Valeo Behavioral Health Care, a prominent behavioral health care and
drug/alcohol treatment facility in Topeka, Kansas.
Additionally, Travis is an Adjunct Professor in the MBA, MMIS, CAPS, HRM, OML, and
PACE programs at the Friends University Topeka campus.
Prior to this, Travis spent nearly a decade working for the United States Postal Service as
the Computer Operations Manager for the Materiel Distribution Center in Topeka.
Reichert, Joel
I am an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University in the Phoenix Metro Area, Arizona. I
earned a Master's Degree in Educational Administration at the University of Phoenix. I
currently teach History and Government, as well as coach football at Desert Ridge High
School in Mesa, Arizona. I spend each day graced by the companionship of my wife, Lisa,
and my two sons.
Reichert, Lisa
Lisa completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Elmhurst College in 2001.
She received her MSN degree with an emphasis in Nursing Education from Grand
Canyon University in 2010. She obtained a certification in Radiology Nursing in October
2009. Her nursing background includes High Risk Obstetrics, Medical Imaging, and since
2009, she has been functioning as a Quality Specialist. Lisa lives in the Phoenix area with
her husband and two sons. In her spare time she enjoys playing Co-Rec softball,
scrapbooking, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Reiniger, Pete
Pete Reiniger has been an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate Business Programs at
Ottawa University since 1999, as well as a management and marketing consultant. In
addition, he has had a rewarding career in the US Navy and in the business world. After
graduating from the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD, Ensign Reiniger entered the
exciting world of Naval Patrol Aviation, with the important strategic role of finding and
tracking Russian submarines. His decision to proceed with his naval career allowed him to
earn his masters degree in Management from the US Naval Postgraduate School in
Monterey, California. Subsequently, he had challenging assignments at Moffett Field,
California, Norfolk, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. After being promoted to full
Commander, Pete was selected to command Patrol Squadron 46 at Moffett Field,
California. His post-command assignment sent him to the Naval War College in Newport,
Rhode Island, for a special Naval Operations course en route to his new position on the
faculty at the prestigious US Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After four years
at Carlisle, Pete was promoted to Navy Captain, and selected for the rewarding position of
Deputy Commander of Policy and Programs on NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied
Powers Europe (SHAPE) staff in Mons, Belgium. He then returned to the US Army War
College as the Senior Naval Officer. Captain Reiniger was awarded the Legion of Merit for
his work in NATO and at the US Army War College. Upon retirement from the Navy, Mr.
Reiniger began his business career at Sprint's Eastern Group headquarters, where he
enjoyed the corporate business world as a senior manager in staffing & planning, as well
as in training & development positions. After moving west to Arizona, Pete furthered his
business experience in management consulting and in the mortgage industry.
Richardson, Shay
Professor Shay Richardson is a recent addition to the Ottawa University business faculty
team, joining the college in June of 2011.
Shay is in the process of completing his PhD in Business Administration and Finance at
Northcentral University. He holds an MBA in Finance from Philadelphia University and a
Bachelors degree in Information Systems and Management from the New Jersey Institute
of Technology.
Professionally, Shay is a school business administrator for a New Jersey public school
district where he handles budget planning and administration, as well as insurance and
risk management. Shay is charged with a variety of additional duties that include
purchasing and financial accounting, facilities planning, liaison for construction projects
and maintenance, personnel administration, and central data processing. He also serves
as treasurer, holding in trust all monies belonging to the school district as well as its
educational foundation.
Previously, Shay served as chief finance and operations officer for a private supplemental
educational services company which specialized in providing morning, after-school, and
weekend tutoring services to school districts deemed ―in need of improvement‖ by the
state of New Jersey. During his tenure there, Shay directed the preparation and
management of all financial reports for company records, tax returns, and shareholder
disclosures.
Riggs, Russel
Scholastically my background includes a B.A. in Political Science and International
Relations, a M.A. in Quantitative Analysis and a J.D. All of my degrees were earned at
Brigham Young University. Despite many turns in the professional road, I have enjoyed on
a part time basis, teaching online, at Universities, at the community college level and in
private career training facilities. Over the past thirty (30) years, professionally, I have had
the opportunity to work in a number of diverse disciplines. I have worked as a national
political consultant, a title and escrow real estate professional, a finance venture capitalist,
a land acquisition specialist for national and regional home builders and developing and
financing property in the U.S. and Sonora, Mexico. Currently I am involved in a production
grain operation in Arizona.
Ripley, Stephen M.Div
Steve received his Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA in
1998. He is an ordained American Baptist Minister and has served in several pastoral
venues including a senior pastorate in Ohio. Before becoming ordained, Steve was
involved in almost two decades of lay ministry in United States and England. He is
married to his beautiful bride, Sammi, who is also an ordained minister. They hope to
start a church overseas soon and lead others to the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. They
enjoy finding hidden treasures at yard sales, discussing theology, and growing a
vegetable garden in their back yard in north central Maine.
Romero, Art
Arthur Romero is the system administrator for materials management in one of the largest
healthcare facilities in the Southwest. He also helped launch a successful law firm from
ground-up, exceeding 300% revenue in less than three years and continues to serve the
firm as a consultant marketing director.
Receiving his Masters in Business Administration in 2008, Arthur attended Ottawa
University for both his graduate and undergraduate coursework. He graduated cum laude
in 2005 with his B.A. in psychology. Prior to his education, Arthur served as a platoon
sergeant in the United States Marine Corps infantry.
Arthur is an Arizona native and continues to live in the valley with his beautiful daughter,
Payten.
Romero, Fred
My full name is Frederick Matayoshi Romero. In truth I was not given a middle name at
birth, but I sometimes use my mother’s maiden name as my middle name. I go by Fred. If
you’re wondering about the name Matayoshi, my mother was Japanese, and I was born in
Kobe, Japan.
After serving in the US Army with two tours in Vietnam in the 1960’s, I went to college. My
undergraduate degrees are in Mental Health Technology (A.A.) and Psychology (B.A.)
and my Master of Arts degree is in Counseling. I am currently a doctoral candidate at
Arizona State University where I am currently completing dissertation as my final
assignment in earning my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through the
College of Education in Tempe.
I currently serve as the Academic Dean of Online Education for Ottawa University.

Sanders, Keri
Keri Sanders is Principal of Onword Marketing, LLC, a marketing and communications
consultancy practice in Phoenix, Arizona. She has over 25 years’ experience working for
both corporate and nonprofit organizations, including engagements in
telecommunications, utilities, financial services, and healthcare.
She earned her Master’s Degree at Arizona State University. Keri is both an online and
ground instructor for a variety of business courses, at both the undergraduate and
graduate level. She is a native Arizonian and takes every opportunity she can to enjoy the
natural environment her state has to offer.
Santos, Roberta
I am originally from Rio de Janeiro and my first language is Portuguese. My
undergraduate degree is in Library Science from Universidade do Rio de Janeiro. After
completing my BS in library science, I worked in a nursing library in Rio helping students
perform research in the medical field. I then moved to working for the Olympic Committee
of Brazil where I was academic advisor to athletes. A highlight of this job was attending
the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sidney Olympic Games.
I have elementary level teaching experience and completed my Masters in Education, with
an emphasis in Bilingual Education, and my Arizona Teaching Certificate at Ottawa
University. My doctorate is from Arizona State University, in Leadership and Innovation:
Policies and Administration. My dissertation topic incorporated adult education and
technology, my thesis was titled, ―Andragogy Content Knowledge Technology: A Teaching
Model for Adults‖.
Today I am an assistant professor in the school of education at the Arizona campus. I also
have administrative responsibilities as the director of K-12 School Partnerships. I work
directly with school teachers, principals and superintendents to help and support Ottawa’s
students during their student teaching experience, as well as providing educators with
academic professional development.
As faculty I have taught courses in the areas of bilingual and English as Second
Language methods course, diversity, class management, education philosophy, research
assessment methods, leadership and technology.
Saverino, Frank M.Ed.,LPC, LISAC
Frank earned his Bachelor degree in Sociology from Slippery Rock University in 1986. He
earned his Master’s degree in Counseling Education from Slippery Rock University in
1989. He received his independent license to practice counseling in the state of Arizona
in 1993. In addition he received his independent license in substance abuse counseling in
1993.
Frank has over 26 years of experience in the field of mental health. Since 2002 Frank has
served as the Clinical Director of Touchstone Behavioral Health. Prior his work at
Touchstone he was the program director at St. Luke’s Behavioral health Center for 7
years. He has been in private practice since 2000 and most the clients he serves are
couples and families.
Frank has been an adjunct faculty member at Ottawa University since 2007.
Frank has presented dozens of workshops and trainings in a variety of areas including
counseling skills, addictions, stress management, children’s issues, post traumatic stress
and attention deficit disorder.
Frank enjoys hiking, biking, lifting weights, unicycling and juggling. Frank has been
married since 1988 and has three children.
Schlauch, Randal
Randal obtained his Master’s Degree of Science in Administration of Justice and Security
at University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement Administration at
Ottawa University and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Wharton County Junior
College. Randal has been in law enforcement since 1988 and works full time as the Chief
of Police in Hallettsville, Texas. He also is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University and
teaches an elective high school course at Hallettsville Independent School District.
Randal is extremely involved in grant writing and assisting others in helping to write and
seek grants. He is happily married and has two wonderful children.
Schoenwetter, Jennifer
I have been an instructor at Ottawa for the last several years in my area of expertise,
business. I have primarily taught undergrad courses such as: Business Management,
Business Ethics, Behavior in Organizations, Leadership and Communication, Women in
Management, and Seminar in Applied Management. My graduate courses include
teaching Organizational Behavior and Organizational Change Theory and Strategy. Like
you, I finished up my graduate work as a working adult, so I can truly understand the
pressure, stress, and work-life balance issues. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Business
Management and a Master's of Art in Organizational Management.
Schwartz, Adam
Dr. Schwartz began working at Ottawa University in 2012; he has worked in education
since 1999. His experiences in education have spanned leadership, teaching, and
coaching.
Dr. Schwartz earned his bachelor's degree from The University of Arizona where he
majored in biology and played football for the Wildcats. His first foray into education came
in his role as a football coach at Hamilton College, then Cornell University, and finally at
Rutgers University. Following his career as a college football coach, Dr. Schwartz earned
a master's degree from Arizona State University in curriculum and instruction and began
teaching high school science in the Phoenix area. After completing a masters in
educational leadership from Northern Arizona University he transitioned into his current
role as a high school administrator and began serving as an instructor at various
colleges. He completed his doctoral degree in educational leadership from Northern
Arizona University in 2012.
Dr. Schwartz and his wife live with their three sons in Litchfield Park, AZ. When not
spending time with his family, he frequently competes in triathlons, enjoys fishing, and
travels as much of the globe as he can.
Schwartz, Erica
I have a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from the University of Arizona. I
have a Master of Science degree in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Texas at
Austin. I specialized in Children and Family with a focus on child welfare. I am a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker in the State of Arizona (LCSW). I have worked in a variety of
human services settings including in-patient pediatrics, school counseling, office based
counseling, home-based counseling, community coalitions/community development, and
both individual and group counseling. I have worked with children, adults, and families
from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of challenges.
Scrimager, Cyndi
Cynthia (Cyndi) is an online adjunct faculty member at Ottawa University. She holds
multiple Master’s Degrees in Psychology, Counseling and Management, as well as a
Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Marriage/Family, Child/Adolescent
and Sex Therapies. She has provided counseling services in a wide range of settings
including Corporate Employee Assistance Programs and also with the inner-city urban
population. She has over 15 years of experience working with adolescents and their
families. Along with her therapy dog, she also provides counseling and after-care grief
support for hospice families. Additionally she is a public speaker and corporate trainer.
She divides her time between Arizona and Illinois and in her spare time she enjoys yoga,
traveling, and learning about modern art and modern-mid-century architecture. She is the
mother of three adult children.
Shah, Rob
Rob Shah is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University and resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.
He earned an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and Bachelor of Science
degree in Accountancy at Arizona State University. He also holds a CPA and CMA. Rob
has over 17 years finance experience working at leading global companies in various
management roles including business analysis, financial planning and reporting, joint
venture projects, and supply chain finance. In his spare time, he enjoys live theater,
sports, volunteering at Junior Achievement, and spending time with his wife and two kids.
Shaw, Laura
Laura Shaw has a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Kansas. She has
taught onground courses for Ottawa University in Phoenix, Arizona since 2005 and online
courses for Ottawa Online since October of 2008. She has taught a variety of
psychology courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Laura has conducted
and published research on empathy and helping behavior. When she is not teaching or
reading a good book, Laura enjoys a busy life with her husband, daughters, and dogs.
Sheeler, Amber
Shields, Molly
I have taught at a variety of educational institutions, ranging from technical universities to
state community colleges, and hold a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois (Go
Cubs!) and a MEd in Adult Education with a concentration in English from the University of
North Florida. I also serve as a contributor to the National Council of Teachers of English
(NCTE), which is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English. My prior
instructional experiences have also included the leadership of several workshop series,
including: Developing Writers Lectures Series, Literary Analysis in Secondary Education,
Write from Wrong: Strategies for Addressing Student Plagiarism (Web Seminar) delivered
via NCTE, CanTeach Resources for Educators, Ethics for Educators. Facilitating the
writing and reading process for adult learners is my passion. I find no greater enjoyment
than helping adult learners (you!) achieve their goals.
Shortle, Michelle
Michelle Shortle, MA, PHR, is a Human Resources Representative at North Kansas City
Hospital. She received her Masters of Arts in Human Resources from Ottawa University
and currently teaches undergraduate HR related courses, primarily in the Healthcare
Program.
Michelle has nearly ten years of healthcare recruitment experience working with a variety
of nursing, ancillary and support departments. She is currently Co-Chairperson for the
Kansas City Healthcare Workforce Partners, a committee serving the Kansas City
Metropolitan Healthcare Council. In addition, Michelle has served two consecutive terms
as Vice President of the Healthcare Recruiters' Association of Greater Kansas City.
Simmons, Shakira
Shakira Simmons received both the Masters (MA) and Doctorate (PSyD) degrees in
Clinical Psychology from Argosy University/Phoenix. She received her Bachelor's Degree
in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Shakira is a licensed clinical
psychologist who has worked in a wide variety of settings including, urban and rural
outpatient clinics, juvenile detention, prison, substance abuse clinics, law enforcement
agencies, and hospitals. She has been an adjunct faculty member for Ottawa
University/Phoenix for the last 5 years. Her goal is to help facilitate a comprehensive and
rewarding learning experience.
Smith, Gigi
Gigi Smith brings two decades of experience in the analysis, development, and
management of complex data systems to her current position as Deputy Director and
Chief Information Officer (CIO) at an organization in California. As CIO, she plans and
directs all data collection and processing activities required for the effective governance of
alcohol and other drug programs in California. She provides leadership and guidance in
data systems management to fifty-eight counties and more than 1,800 service providers
statewide. She fosters collaboration in her work with federal, state and local governments
in a variety of health information technology initiatives.
Her interest in information technology started in college when she came to realize its
power to transform how people think, work and live. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Computer Information Systems and went on to earn Master’s and Doctoral degrees in
Business Administration and Management, respectively. She has produced a number of
publications and presentations in the areas of business, management, health information,
recruitment and retention, and information technology.
Gigi has a passion for creating innovative solutions to data management problems. As
adjunct faculty for public and private colleges in the western region of the United States,
she motivates her students to embrace the intricacies of the field and apply themselves to
resolving complex issues of system architecture, programming and applications. Dr.
Smith’s enthusiasm for her work—and her joy in training others—infects her students as
well as her associates in her professional life.
Smith, Jere
Jere Smith holds a Master of Business Administration (Concentration: Accounting) from
Keller Graduate School of Management. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Business with
an Advanced Accounting Specialty at Northcentral University. She is the lead Accounting
Faculty for Colorado Technical College Online. She has worked in government and notfor-profit companies as an accountant and manager. Jere has taught accounting since
1993. She splits her time living between Melbourne, Florida and north of Kansas City,
Missouri with her husband. Her son is an active member in the Air Force Reserves and
begins college in January 2012.
Spaulding, Allen
Allen Spaulding earned a Ph.D. in Biology at Utah State University. After that, he held a
postdoctoral research position at the University of Gothenburg, in Sweden, studying
ecology. Allen‟s research has covered topics such as the evolutionary ecology,
conservation genetics , molecular ecology, and molecular evolution. He has conducted
field work in varying environments from forests and rain forests to deserts. Allen cocreated and currently teaches Environmental Biology (BIO-30643). He also teaches
courses in General Science and Biology, Human Anatomy, and Human Physiology. Allen
loves teaching and is interested in perfecting flipped classrooms and development of
mobile learning. He lives in Salt Lake City, where he enjoys playing the guitar, writing
songs, and recording in his home studio. But mostly, he enjoys spending time with his
family, going to museums, riding bikes, going to movies, and going on hikes.
Stephens, Jennifer
Jennifer Stephens has taught higher education since 2003 and retired from the Army.
Jennifer was a transportation and multifunctional logistics officer while in the service and
have had two decades of wonderful and exciting jobs. She is a Demonstrated Master
Logistician (DML) and her favorite job was as a commander of a boat company in Pearl
Harbor. The military life is such a family much like the life of learners on discussion
boards.
Jennifer has taught Leadership, Ethics, Law, Management, Supply, Logistics, Decision
Making and many other areas over the years. She has taught at major universities and
colleges, both online and brick and mortar and loves to coach, teach and mentor
students.... Jennifer has a B.S. from University of Louisville (197), MBA from University of
Phoenix (2001), Law Degree from Concord Law (2007) School and PhD (ABD) from
Northcentral University (2011). Jennifer has published work in a few areas including the
Army Logistician and several book projects with co-authors Dr. Stephen Covey (2011),
Dan Planchard (2011), Jack Canfield (2012) and Dr. Robert Fuller (2012).
In addition to academics Jennifer is an avid Green Bay Packer fanatic (also a Brett Favre
fan – Don’t mention the Vikings!!!), cross-stitching, scrapbooking and enjoy spending time
with her three children
Stika, Nita; Ph.D
Dr. Nita A. Stika, has served in the health care industry for over twenty five years primarily
in clinic administration for organizations such as The Medical College of Wisconsin,
Waukesha Health Care, and Lakeshore Medical Clinics. She graduated from the Medical
Assistant Program from Concordia College in Milwaukee in 1981.
After attending and graduating from Concordia’s Medical Assistant Program and
attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Nursing, I completed my
bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from Concordia University of
Wisconsin. I then also earned a Master of Science, Health Services Administration from
Cardinal Stritch University, College of Business and Management, and have completed a
PhD in Human Services with a concentration on Health Care Administration from Capella
University. Currently I serve as an instructor and doctoral advisor for dissertations there.
I have been a member of the Medical Group Management Association since 1992, have
also served with Wisconsin Medical Group Management Association, the American
College of Medical Practice Executives, The Pediatric Surgery Manager’s Association,
and the Brain Injury Association of Wisconsin in the Supportive Partner to Partner
Network and serve on the board of directors. Currently, I am a member of the American
Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), having achieved certifications as CPC
(certified professional coder) and CPC-H (certified professional coder, hospital) and have
also achieved instructor certification (PMCC)allowing me to certify instructors. I currently
serve as the President for the Milwaukee Chapter of the AAPC. I also have membership
with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the
Wisconsin Health Information Management Association (WHIMA) I have been an adjunct
faculty member for colleges and universities since 1993 (simultaneously with working as
an administrator in the health care industry), authoring and teaching several modules
for Health Care degrees and Medical Assistant Programs.
Stoner, Steve; MBA
Steve has an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Northcentral University and has
completed all but the dissertation for his PhD in Finance. He teaches online business
courses for several universities and is the co-founder and CFO of a non-profit
organization, Six String Heroes. The mission of Six String Heroes is to provide guitar
lessons and guitars for United States military veterans who are suffering from mental or
physical injuries as a result of military service. This music therapy helps ease the
symptoms of PTSD and other injuries.
In Steve’s career, he has been a Purchasing Manager and Operations Manager for
multiple companies for 17 years. Most recently he managed the supply chain of all PC’s
from Dell going into The Boeing Corporation. While enjoying these challenge a great deal,
the business travel and long hours were tough so he recently transitioned from private
business to teaching business classes at multiple universities. His diverse background
gives him a large experience pool with which to apply the business concepts studied in
online classes.
Steve lives in the St. Louis area with his wife and two sons. They enjoy traveling, playing
music, and attending St. Louis Cardinals games as much as possible.
Struve, Greg
Greg Struve was born and raised in South St. Paul, Minnesota, and received an
undergraduate degree in Religion from St. Olaf College in Northfield. He received a
Master's in Counseling from the Adler Graduate School in Bloomington, MN.
As a counselor his experience has been primarily with alcoholism, drug addiction, sex
addiction and trauma. In addition to maintaining a small practice, Mr. Struve serves as the
clinical director at A Sober Way Home, a treatment center in Prescott, AZ where he works
with addicts in a long-term setting.
Mr. Struve has been an adjunct professor since 2008 and reports that teaching is second
love, behind only his wife, Maria, and his twin daughters, Lyla and Harlow.
Svendsen, Tom
Tom has a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration degree and has his own health
services management consulting business. He is involved in the design and
implementation of support management systems of new start-up hospital facilities; and,
provides improved direction to low performing departments of many hospitals in the mid
and western states. It is very important for Tom to stay current on all healthcare everchanging management issues.
As a consultant and a teacher, Tom designs and facilitates management training seminars
and is often a featured presenter at healthcare related trade shows. He is a subject matter
expert to develop curriculum for healthcare online courses and writes training manuals,
policy and procedures for healthcare management systems. Tom is instrumental in the
design and implementation of the corporate management training programs of an
international management service company that affected the leadership of over 1000
hospitals in the USA alone. Tom is a teacher and servant leader in the healthcare
industry.
Tom enjoys living with his wife in the Phoenix area. When he is not working, he plays golf
and hikes South Mountain. He and his wife spend as much time as possible with their
children and their growing families.
Svoboda, Myra
Myra has a Master of Arts in Organizational Management degree which she received from
University of Phoenix.
She has held the position of Assistant Vice President of Learning &Development for
Zurich Insurance in North America since 2001. In this position, Myra analyzes and
determines learning and development needs of the organization. She formulates and
develops plans, procedures, and programs to meet identified development needs.
Additionally, she provides leadership and guidance to her staff of L&D consultants. Her
background includes various specialties within the Human Resources arena, having
worked in Recruiting, Employee Relations, Leadership and Professional Development, as
well as Succession Planning and Executive Coaching.
Myra lives in the Kansas City area with her husband. When she is not working she enjoys
pursuing her musical interests (piano, classical guitar, and cello).
Swank (Gast), Barbara
Ms. Barbara Gast has over twenty-five years of professional management experience. As
Vice President of a national executive recruiting firm, she manages consultation contracts
with healthcare clients throughout the United States. Her formal education includes a
Master of Science degree in Agribusiness Management from Arizona State University and
a Master of Arts in Organization Management from University of Phoenix. She has also
held the title of Vice President/Executive Director for both public and private sector
organizations including the state licensing board for psychologists in Arizona.
Syrmopoulos, Steve
Steven Syrmopoulos has over 30 years of business experience in related fields. He also
holds industry designations, the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial
Consultant (ChFC). He holds a Master’s degree in International Management (MIM) from
Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management. Currently he is Assistant Dean of
Insurance and Financial Planning Studies for the College for Financial Planning and has
been employed by and consulted for companies including Prudential Insurance Co., Ernst
and Young, LLP, AG Edwards. He joined Ottawa University adjunct faculty in 2004. He is
also active as an instructor for the College for Financial Planning with specialization in
Investment and Retirement Planning areas. Over the past 16 years Steven was a
professor at Western International University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and
Maricopa County Community Colleges at various locations.

Tabor, Brent M.
Brent M. Tabor is a native of Louisiana and currently resides in League City, TX. He has
a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Nicholls State University (1998), a Master of
Business of Administration from Nicholls State University (2001), and a Master of Taxation
from the University of Tulsa (2008). Brent is also currently pursuing his PhD in Business
Administration from Northcentral University. He is also a CPA in the State of Louisiana
since 2000.
Brent has worked in accounting and tax roles in both public accounting and industry since
1998. Brent has been teaching online in an adjunct role for various universities since
2008. He also been involved in course writing and development since 2005.
In his spare time, Brent likes to grill, spend time with his wife and kids, and follow the New
Orleans Saints.
Tefft, Nicole
Nicole Tefft is currently the Director of Human Resources at Metropolitan State University
in Denver. She has 17 years of experience as a Director of Human Resources, ten of
which in Healthcare. She has a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management
from Ottawa University. Nicole is SPHR and CPM certified. She currently lives in
Brighton, Colorado with her husband and two children.
Thomas, Rachel
Rachel Thomas is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both Arizona and
California. She has been practicing therapy for over 10 years and specializes in work in
the areas of grief and loss, infertility, and couples/relationship issues. Currently, Rachel is
an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University and teaches courses in the Masters in
Professional Counseling program as well as various undergraduate courses. She also has
a private practice in Scottsdale and teaches group facilitators at New Song Center for
Grieving Children. In addition, she is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and is active on the
Arizona Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Board.
Thompson, Christine
Christine (Tina) Love Thompson has worked for Sumner County Schools as a classroom
teacher and reading specialist since 1996 teaching students in grades k-8 in high poverty
schools. She has also been working in higher education since 2003 teaching a variety of
graduate level courses focused on classroom management, research, and reading. Her
educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Arts and Sciences with a Concentration
in k-8 education, a Master’s in Elementary Education, and an Educational Specialist
Degree in Instructional Leadership, which led to certification in educational administration
prek-12. She earned a Doctorate in the area of Curriculum and Instruction in 2009. Her
research focused on the integration of authentic literature in writing instruction. Dr.
Thompson has worked as an educational consultant in the area of literacy since 2010, has
published several research articles in journals such as the Tennessee Reading Teacher,
PDK, and Tennessee Educational Leadership, and was also one of the 2012 PDK’s
Emerging Leaders. She is also a wife and mother of two boys as well as an active
member of the local Car Club community that raises money to fund local charities such as
the Wounded Warriors Project, Make a Wish Foundation, and support scholarships to for
students attending local universities.
Tincher, Lee
Dr. Tincher holds a Ph.D. from Capella University in Teaching and Learning, a broad
based doctorate providing insights into the spirit of learning across ages and cultures. Her
area of emphasis was on exploring new perceptions of dyslexia through a phenomenology
study. This focus came from 35 years in the classroom working with diverse learners of all
ages and abilities, utilizing her roles as a reading specialist, curriculum developer, and
director for a private school.
Besides Ottawa University, Dr. Tincher teaches educational courses for Dallas Baptist
University, Colorado Christian, Nova Southeastern, Kaplan University, and leadership
courses for Southwestern College in Kansas and Bellevue University. Her rich and varied
background provides a wealth of information and experience for differentiating instruction
Tobin, Patricia
Patricia Tobin has taught in the Arizona public school system for over ten years as an
educator. In addition to holding a teaching certificate in grades K-12, she also teaches
fine art, education and sociology courses at the postsecondary level. Dr. Tobin earned her
Ph.D. in postsecondary and adult education.
Tolbert, Boyd
Dr. Tolbert is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Ottawa University in the areas of educational
leadership, curriculum design, delivery systems, and the adult learner. Concurrently, he
serves as an Advisor to doctoral candidates at Argosy University and is the Vice President
for Academic Affairs of the American Indian College. He completed an Ed.D. in
Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Arizona State University. His dissertation
focused on at-risk, EL students and was entitled: Characteristics Associated with
Successful Mexican-American Middle School Students.
Towell, Lavaughn
Lavaughn Towell is originally from Oklahoma, but now lives in Daytona Beach Florida.
Lavaughn has a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University and a Master’s
Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Tulsa. He finished his
Ph.D. in the Fall of 2009. Lavaughn has taught at multiple schools, including the
University of Tulsa, Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Tulsa
Community College, and Daytona State College. He has taught courses in developmental
writing, basic composition, technical writing, research methods, honors composition and
British literature. Lavaughn enjoys reading horror, mystery and science fiction novels, and
watching horror movies.
Traaen, Teri J.
Teri J. Traaen, Ed.D., D.P.A. is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Traaen &
Associates, LLC. Traaen & Associates, LLC is a human resource management company
specializing in customized services that support moving public and private organizations
to their highest potential in terms of customer service, ethics based leadership and
employee development while retaining leading profiles in their individual and designated
markets. The Firm’s service divisions include: human resources technical management;
employee and labor relations interventions, as well as training and organizational
development services.
Dr. Traaen’s professional experience includes over thirty years in the human resource
field. Her professional service includes leading highly complex human resource teams in
small, medium and large municipal government sectors, an urban K-12 public school
district, a community college/county partnership for federally funded job training and
development in support of rural economic development. She has served as a labor
negotiator for management throughout her career, focusing on collaborative solutions to
the conflict based situations most often navigated when salary and benefits packages are
less than desired by both labor and management. Dr. Traaen’s professional experience is

Ubel, Renita
Renita received 2 Bachelor of Science degrees and a Master of Science degree in
Elementary Education from Kansas State University and her Doctorate of Education
degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas. She is a retired public
school teacher with teaching experience ranging from grades 1 through high school. She
also served as an instructional coach for teachers new to the profession. At the college
level, she has taught Instructional Strategies, Educational Psychology, Classroom
Management, Foundations of Education in a Diverse Society, and Motivation in the
Classroom. She currently teaches Educational Psychology for Ottawa University on the
residential campus and in Kansas City. Additionally, she observes elementary and
secondary teacher candidates in their field experiences.
Renita and her husband live on the farm in Douglas County, Kansas, where she was
raised. During her ―free‖ time she enjoys her daughter and two young grandchildren and
spends time sewing and quilting. As a personal mission project, Renita designs and
constructs one-of-a-kind clerical stoles with the proceeds donated to help women in
developing countries improve their lives.

Management.
Venky earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics from Annamalai
University, India, a Masters in Engineering with emphasis is Biomedical Instrumentation &
Digital Signal Processing, from University of Missouri – Columbia, and a Masters in
Business Administration from Ottawa University.
Van Cuyk, Jennifer
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree in 1998 from
Northern Arizona University. She then completed her Master of Education in Early
Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University in 2004. She holds endorsements
in early childhood, ESL (English as a Second Language), and middle school science.
Over the years she has taught third grade and kindergarten as well as developed
curriculum for an international prepatory school in Beijing, China. Jennifer has been an
adjunct instructor at Ottawa University since 2006.
When Jennifer is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two
daughters, fishing, camping, scrapbooking and watching movies.
Vaughan, Shaughna L.
With over 40 years experience in the field of human resources, communication, and
training, Shaughna has lead the way in creating innovative business environments in both
the public and private sector. Working in such organizations as Heller International in
Chicago, The City of St. Louis, Missouri, and The Keystone Group and Malandro
Communication Inc. in Phoenix, she has developed a business knowledge and expertise
in a variety of disciplines.
Shaughna holds an M.A. in Human Resource Development and a B.A. in Human
Resources (Summa cum Laude) with an Emphasis in Law Enforcement Administration,
from Ottawa University in Phoenix. She is also a graduate of the School of Mortgage
Banking at Ohio State University. Working with the Tempe Police Department and the
Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, Shaughna was instrumental in the
production of telecourse training programs in topics such as domestic violence, hate
crimes, child abuse, and many more. She made a significant contribution in the design
and implementation of distance learning programs, which attributed to the training of over
5,000 peace officers in the State of Arizona.
Velasco, Janet
I have been with OU for approximately 20 years working as an Adjunct faculty member
teaching classes and supervising student teachers in the field. I earned my B.A. and M.A.
at ASU, my doctorate at NAU in Ed. Administration with emphasis in Curriculum and
Supervision. I worked for the Tempe Union High School District teaching science and
then as an Assistant Principal. I have been trained in Staff Development and Conflict
Management. I have worked with students, teachers, and parents in many capacities.
Spending time with family and friends is very important to me. I am an avid reader; enjoy
movies and attending concerts and plays. My favorite pastime is grooming my horses and
playing with my dogs. There is nothing more relaxing to me than being out in the pasture
and working my horses. All of my animals are spoiled. Did I mention I also have 2
sheep?
Mother Teresa is my role model. To me she was a reflection of what we are all about.
Love, Patience, and Giving. I call it my LPG. I try to instill her philosophy into my daily
routines.
Vellekamp, Karen
Karen Vellekamp has been teaching and tutoring mathematics at both the high school and
college levels since 1986, and has been teaching online since 2008. She really enjoys
the online experience because it enables her to interact one-on-one with every student
and to get to know them better than in an on-site classroom. She earned her Bachelor of
Arts in Mathematics in 1983 and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the
University of New Hampshire in 1986. She currently lives in the beautiful state of Maine
where she spends much of her time exploring the outdoors in all seasons with her
husband Sam.
Venezia, Melissa
Dr. Venezia is an online instructor of Psychology for Ottawa University. She received her
Ph.D. in Psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans. In her spare time she enjoys
running and reading.

Wagie, Audrey. MBA, SPHR
Audrey Wagie has worked in a variety of different roles in healthcare organizations for
many years. An early career in laboratory medicine included 15 years in supervision. She
also has over 10 years as a human resource professional. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in
Healthcare Management with a concentration in Human Resources and MBA with a
concentration in Leadership & Management, both from Ottawa University. She has taught
at Ottawa University since 2008, focusing on the areas of human resources and
healthcare management. Her current role as an HR Generalist at a regional medical
center in southeast Wisconsin allows her to support leaders and employees across the
organization as well as taking responsibility for specific strategic initiatives.
Warner, Shawna
Shawna earned a BA in Communication and Biblical/Theological Studies, a certificate in
Post-Secondary Teaching and an MA in Communication from Bethel University. She is
currently enrolled at Davenport University, earning post-graduate certificates in Human
Resources and Strategic Management.
Passionate about competing on speech teams in high school and college, she took the
opportunity to coach a collegiate team while earning her Master's degree. Before focusing
solely on teaching, she worked in radio and business. Since 2008, she has focused only
on teaching, teaching online Communication courses.
The love of adventure prompted her to move to China in 2008, where she spent three
years teaching public speaking at the Dalian branch campus of Missouri State University.
She developed a deeper awareness of how difficult cross-cultural exchanges are, traveled
around Asia, and gave birth to her son in a Chinese hospital.
Knowing she's always wanted to complete a PhD, the experience in China paved the way
for a love of understanding culture. She's making preparations to start a Master of Arts in
Intercultural Studies at Biola University as a stepping stone to enter their PhD program in
the same field. Shawna fell in love with Thailand during a trip to Chiang Mai, developed
some connections to several ministries focused on helping victims of human trafficking
situations and animal rescue. Learning Thai currently, she travels to Thailand several
times a year.
Shawna is married with one child, and has six wonderful cats. She loves reading, writing,
drinking tea, photography, and travel.
Washington, Warren
Dr. Washington has served for the past 30 years in various counseling and management
positions at several Colleges and Universities. Some of the positions served in include
Academic Counselor, Director of Financial Aid, Dean of Student Support Services, Dean
of Institutional Development and Alumni Affairs, Associate Dean of Admissions and
Counseling, Dean of Continuing Education and Community Services, Vice President of
Academic Affairs, President of a public two-year Community College, and President of a
small private University.
His professional experience also includes teaching courses for the last ten years in
Psychology, Organizational Management, and counseling at various two-year Colleges
and four-year Universities. He has written articles, provided numerous workshops and
seminars, and presentations on management topics and is a contributing author of a
management textbook. He holds eight different Community College credentials, a Masters
of Science Degree (M.S.) in Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) in
Human Behavior and Organizational Leadership.
His hobby is reading student papers (sounds crazy right)!!!!!!
Watt, Lawrence
Lawrence Watt earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ottawa University’s main
campus in Ottawa Kansas. He earned his Master of Arts in Education Administration from
University of Phoenix and is currently working on his Doctor of Education (EdD) with the
University of Phoenix. His dissertation proposal has been accepted and he is working on
the field research. He earned his certification in Special Education from Central Michigan
University and has done continuing education work in Special Education with Towson
University in Maryland and Trinity College in Washington, DC.
Mr. Watt has completed work with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for his Master
of Divinity. He is an ordained and accredited Baptist Pastor and has served churches in
Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Maryland.
Mr. Watt has worked with teenagers with emotional, behavioral, and addiction challenges
with the departments of Juvenile Justice in Indiana and Michigan. He has taught teens in
the Emotional and Learning disabilities programs in Prince George’s County (Maryland)
Public Schools for 17 years. He is currently the Special Education Coordinator in Prince
George’s County Public Schools.
Mr. Watt is married, has five sons, two daughters and six grandchildren. His wife is an
Autism Specialist in Prince George’s County Schools. His two youngest children are in
college. His oldest holds a degree in Criminal Justice but prefers to drive a monument
truck. His other children include an active duty Marine, a chef, stay at home mom, and
one in retail sales.
Webster, Matthew; D.Min
Matthew holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from West Coast Bible Seminary (2010) a
Masters of Christian Counseling from Colorado Theological Seminary (2008) and a
Bachelors of Religious Education from William Tyndale College (2003). Pastor Matt
Webster serves as senior pastor of the First Congregational Church in Durand.
His ministry began in 1998 as a youth intern. In 2001 Matt was part of a successful
church plant where he served as care pastor. In 2006 Matt became the director of youth
and evangelism/ associate pastor at the Flushing United Methodist Church. In July of
2009 Matt became senior pastor where he has successfully led many people to the Lord.
Matt is a sought after public speaker, teacher, and ministry strategist. Matt has been
commissioned to write curriculum for Mars Hill Church, one of the largest churches in
America. He has published a book, Wherever I Go the Ministry Follows, and he currently
writes for the Examiner as the Christianity Perspectives Writer. Matt also has the highest
professional counseling license and certification through the National Association of
Christian Counselors.
Matt is a first degree black belt. In his free time he loves to fish, make movies (so far one
of his movies has premiered in the theatres), and play or watch any of the four major
sports. Matt resides in the state of Michigan with his beautiful wife and two children.
Welch, Marvic
I spent twenty years in retail as a financial/operations executive for a regional women's
retailer, and loved every minute of it! Retail is fun, fast-paced, and always full of
surprises, with no opportunity to ever get bored.
My teaching background includes teaching classes face to face, online, and in a hybrid
environment. Regardless of the delivery method, I love teaching just as much as I loved
retail. My own educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration with a major in Accounting, as well as an MBA in Finance.
Wescoat, Ryan
Ryan is an adjunct instructor with Ottawa University Online and is located in the Kansas
City MO metropolitan area. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the
University of Phoenix in Kansas City. He is a currently serving as a business faculty
member and business development specialist with the University of Missouri Extension.
Ryan serves as a business counselor and coach in his current position.
Wesley, Kisha
Kisha Wesley earned a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in
Public Budgeting and Financial Management from Georgia State University in 2001. She
is a 1997 graduate of Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political
Science and History. Since 2001, Kisha has been employed by the State of Georgia in
various budget and financial management roles.
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, Kisha currently resides in the metropolitan Atlanta
area with her husband and children. In her spare time, Kisha enjoys reading and jogging.
Wester, Carrie
Carrie Wester holds an MBA from University of Colorado - Colorado Springs. In 2011,
she completed a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary - Southwest
Campus. Carrie has spent the majority of her career working with the government. She
entered the Air Force in 2003 as a Health Services Administrator where she had a variety
of roles including overseeing the clinic's benefits and patient administration section,
inspection reviews, and referral management. After Active Duty, she took a position as the
Administrative Officer for the Mental Health Department at Southern Arizona Veterans
Affairs Health Care Systems. This position included budget management, performance
measure tracking, patient complaint responses, and data analysis.. Carrie now works at
the county hospital, teaches ballet, instructs religion courses for the local community
college, and occasionally pours wine at events for the local winery.
Williams, Ann
Dr. Ann Williams’ service as socio-economist volunteer for the United States Peace Corps
in Nepal is characteristic of her cross-disciplinary interests. Conducted in the workplace,
her doctoral research focused on the effects of business-oriented practices in the
nonprofit sector. Working as a marketing executive, and more recently as a nonprofit
evaluation and research consultant, Williams has more than 25 years of experience in the
corporate and nonprofit sectors. Teaching at Ottawa University’s Milwaukee campus since
2001, she has also taught business and anthropology courses at Marian College,
Waukesha County Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Williams earned an MBA in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a
Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a
member of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action
and has presented papers its annual conferences. She is also a volunteer community
advocate and facilitator for community values discussions. In her spare time she enjoys
gardening, golfing and reading.
Wilson, Larry
A leadership and battle command instructor at the US Army’s Command and General
Staff College, Larry Wilson is a retired military officer with more than 27 years in uniform.
A decorated combat veteran with three combat tours, Larry is a former Scholastic AllAmerican and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State University, a
Master’s Degree from Kansas State University, and is currently a PhD candidate with
Walden University in their Management and Leadership program. Chief Operating Officer
of the renowned Decisive Edge LLC., a leading sports leadership consulting firm, Larry is
an IAC certified Leadership and Executive coach. Having led strategic level
organizations with budgets in excess of $50 million while living overseas for more than a
decade, Larry possesses an uncommon leadership pedigree. Married to a kindergarten
teacher for more than a quarter-century, Larry resides in Leavenworth, Kansas with his
three daughters and dog named Tanner.
White, Mary
I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (with a minor in Spanish) and
Master's degree in Education (with an emphasis in Writing) from Arizona State
University. I have taught in various elementary school settings, including bi-lingual
classrooms, Navajo Reservation schools, and parochial schools. I served as the Director
of Field Experience for Northern Arizona University, and now I enjoy supervising student
teachers in the field, as well as teaching classes in Education.
Woelfel, Judy
Judy Woelfel earned her Bachelor's of Science in Education and Masters of Library
Science from Emporia State University. During most of her career, she was a librarian in
the public schools. She and her husband also had a computer graphics business for many
years. In addition to this course, Judy has taught courses in Children‟s and Adolescent
Literature along with a Professional Education course on Teaching Research Skills in the
classroom.
Wolod, Larry
Beginning with a brief stint as a revenue agent for the IRS, I have held tax and legal
management positions in public accounting and private industry for over twenty years.
Recently, I held the position of Vice President, Tax & Legal for a FORTUNE 1000, oil
services company in Houston. I hold a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Baltimore,
an M.S. in Taxation from the University of Hartford, a J.D. from the Potomac School of
Law and an LL.M. (taxation) from Georgetown University Law Center. I am a licensed
attorney and CPA. I started teaching face-to-face courses in 1987. Previous experience
was obtained over the last 25 years teaching accounting, taxation, business law and
ethics classes. Over the last nine years I have focused my teaching efforts in the online
format as I enjoy the flexibility which it provides. I thoroughly enjoy my work but do also
love to spend time with my family, working out, reading newspapers and novels, listening
to music or watching sports on the big screen.
Wondergem, Karen
Karen Wondergem graduated from Ottawa University in 2002 with a B.A. in Elementary
Education and in 2008 from Capella University with a M.S. in Education with a specialty
in Instructional Design for Online Learning. She is currently completing a post master‟s
degree in Educational Technology with a specialty in Online Learning Systems. She
taught first and third grades for 5 years in a school district with a high ESL population and
also taught 3 years in K-6 as a Library Media/Technology Specialist. She currently works
in online higher education as a curriculum designer and developer.
Wood, James M.
Jim Wood is an adjunct professor for Ottawa University. He has a Bachelor's of Science in
Christian Ministry, Christian Education and Biblical Literature from Indiana Wesleyan
University in Marion, Indiana. He earned a Master's of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from Trinity
Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois as well as a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas.
Jim has served on staff as an assistant pastor in two different churches. He served in
district leadership in two districts for close to a decade and is currently serving as the lead
pastor of a church in Olathe, Kansas.

Wendy Zender, Ph.D., is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University. She has spent her
entire career in education, both as a teacher in public schools and colleges, and as a
curriculum developer for universities and corporations nationally and internationally. She
has designed and developed a wide variety of online, print-based, and multi-media
courses and curricula for many organizations, such as University of Toyota, Motorola
University, and Unity Institute.
Wendy has extensive experience in needs/performance analyses, curriculum/course
design and development, and evaluation. Her Ph.D. from University of Southern California
is in Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology with a focus in Curriculum
Design. She attended Arizona State University for her M.Ed. Wendy lives in Irvine,
California, with her husband and her four fabulous felines.
Zipperle, Kevin
Kevin is a former operations manager for Brown & Williamson prior to its merger into
Reynolds American. During his 20+ years at B&W, he held positions in
Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, and Quality Assurance. Kevin has two Masters
degrees (engineering and business) from the University of Louisville and a certificate
in financial planning from Florida State University. In his spare time, he manages real
estate and financial investments and serves on the board of a condominium
association.
Zsilavec, Aaron
Aaron Zsilavec began working for Ottawa in 2012 and has been a high school math
teacher since 2005. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 with a B.A. in
Secondary Education Mathematics and in 2008 from Northern Arizona University with a
M.A. in Teaching Mathematics. He has lived in Arizona since he was two years old when
his family moved from Pennsylvania in 1985. He currently resides in Surprise, Arizona
with his wife and three sons. When he is not working or spending time with family, he
enjoys watching Arizona sports teams, especially the Arizona Cardinals.
