A workshop for volunteers who will observe
and count hooded plover on Yorke
Peninsula in November was held recently in
the Port Wakefield Community Newsletter
meeting room.
A beach walk at Bald Hill followed the
information session. Bird Life Australia
Beach-nesting Birds Project Officer, Renee
Mead, reported that it was a successful
workshop and when they were at Bald Hill
Beach they found a Pied Oystercatcher
sitting on eggs. In the days following their
visit they were informed that these eggs had
successfully hatched.

Successful Night Owls Opening
Night
2014 Night Owls began the season on
Wednesday 5 November. Fourteen teams
nominated and a cool but pleasant night was
had by all. Players of all ages and skill levels
enjoyed the opening night and much laughter,
joking and chatter could be heard around the
greens. Several first time players were also
‘spotted’.
Speaking of greens, congratulations are in
order to those responsible for the maintenance
and upkeep. With such a dry month they
looked superb.
Work Begins on Newsletter Office Toilet

Wakefield community groups and members. The
Port Wakefield Community Newsletter committee
wishes to thank all those donors.
Thank You
The Port Wakefield Community Newsletter
committee would like to thank the following
individuals, groups and organisations for their

OLD AIN’T DUMB
A strong young man at a construction site
was bragging that he could outdo anyone in a
feat of strength. He made a special case of
making fun of one older workman.
After several minutes, the older worker had
enough. ”Why don’t you put your money
where your mouth is,” he said. “I will bet a
week’s wages that I can haul something in a
wheelbarrow over to that building that you
won’t be able to wheel back.
“You’re on, old man,” the braggart replied.
“Let’s see you do it.”
The old man reached out and grabbed the
wheelbarrow by the handles… then, nodding
to the young man he said, “All right, smarty
pants get in!”
Logic Question
If a wheel has 64 spokes, how many spaces are there
between the spokes?
