“Chinatown” by Anne Allemann
A picture is said to be worth 1,000 words in that it can tell a story even
more efficiently and effectively than a two-page paper. At the same
time, an image can often mean more when tagged with the right key
words or captioned with contextualizing information. Artwork will
show the audience something, while also telling them something at
the same time. Whether these messages conflict or align is up to the
artist.
At a refined bachelor flat trouble is brewing! In Oscar Wilde’s
most beloved and endlessly delightful classic, Jack is in love with
Gwendolen, Algernon is in love with Cecily. But Gwendolen and
Cecily are both in love with Ernest, who in fact does not exist. In a
tangle of mistaken identity and delicious wordplay, the lovers also
face the indomitable force of Lady Bracknell. Full of sparkling wit,
provocative remarks and with satirical humor at every turn, this
truly is one of the most loved and enduringly popular plays of all time, brought to new life with
ATC’s panache.
In this original Broadway version of Seussical, the Cat in the Hat
tells the story of Horton the elephant who discovers a speck of dust
containing Whos. Horton must protect them from danger and guard
an abandoned egg. Ultimately, friendship, loyalty and community
are challenged but emerge triumphant in this fantastical, magical,
musical extravaganza that will delight the entire family!

The Exonerated
Produced by iTheatre Collaborative
September 27 - October 12, 2013, The Kax Stage
Moving between first-person monologues and scenes set in
courtrooms and prisons, The Exonerated are the true stories of six
wrongfully convicted survivors of death row in their own words. The
six interwoven stories paint a picture of an American criminal justice
system gone horribly wrong—and of six brave souls who persevered
to survive it.

My Son The Waiter, A Jewish Tragedy! is Brad Zimmerman’s
hysterical, bittersweet tale of his 29 year struggle to “make it” in New
York as an actor and comedian, while “temporarily” waiting tables
to make a living. His stories about family, career, childhood and
misbegotten love life are as warm and poignant as they are funny. His
career includes opening for George Carlin and Joan Rivers who said:
“I’ve had three great opening acts in my lifetime: Billy Crystal, Garry
Shandling and Brad Zimmerman.” The Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel calls the show “Hilarious!”

Wolf Trap Program
January 27 - 29, 2014, Center Stage
We all have an innate sense of balance. We straighten our ties and
the pictures on the wall. In art, balance is the distribution of design
elements to produce visual equilibrium. In our daily lives we seek
emotional balance that provides a state of equilibrium. This exhibit
shows artwork that finds a visual and emotional “balance”.
From the producers of the stage hit, The Screwtape Letters, comes
the highly anticipated theatrical adaptation of The Great Divorce. In this dantesque celestial journey from Hell to Paradise, Lewis
draws some of the most fiercely funny characters he ever created. This is C. S. Lewis at his imaginative best.

By the Way, Meet Vera Stark
Produced by iTheatre Collaborative
March 7 - 22, 2014, The Kax Stage
In a new comedy from the Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright of
Ruined, Lynn Nottage draws upon the screwball films of the 1930’s
to take a funny and irreverent look at racial stereotypes in Hollywood.
By the Way, Meet Vera Stark is a seventy-year journey through the
life of Vera Stark, a headstrong African-American maid and budding
actress, and her tangled relationship with her boss, a white Hollywood
movie starlet desperately grasping to hold on to her career. When
circumstances collide and both women land roles in the same Southern
epic movie, the story behind the cameras leaves Vera with a surprising and controversial legacy
scholars will debate for years to come.

Produced by iTheatre Collaborative
April 25 - May 10, 2014, The Kax Stage
Too many choices, not enough time. At least to publish in this
brochure. Quite frankly, we can’t announce this show yet because we
are waiting on the performance rights. If you are bothered by this,
please write to Dramatists Play Service in NYC (who controls the
rights to the show we want to do during this timeframe) and let them
know that you think iTheatre should be given the rights to any and
all shows they want. That just might push them over the edge in our
favor.
Venus In Fur
Produced by Arizona Theatre Company
May 1 – 18, 2014, Center Stage
“Frida’s Heart” by Heather J. Kirk
One of the sexiest, intelligent, most acclaimed new plays in recent
Broadway history. Venus in Fur introduces us to Vanda, a startlingly
talented young actress determined to land the lead in a new play
based on a classic erotic novel. When Vanda shows up hours late for
her appointment, she may have blown her chances. Her emotionally
charged audition for Thomas, the demanding playwright/director,
becomes an electrifying game of cat and mouse that blurs the lines
between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, love and sex.
Contains mature themes and language.
Multicultural Theater Camp
June 2014
A collaboration between Free Arts for Abused Children and the
Herberger Theater Center to heal young lives through the performing
arts. Teens living in group homes, shelters and residential facilities
throughout Maricopa County have an opportunity to create and
experience the arts through a two-week camp. Guest artists introduce
the kids to improvisation, mask making, costumes, props and
technical components of theater. The production is totally created
by the participants, culminating with an inspirational performance. Theater Camp demonstrates
the positive role the arts can play in the lives of young people and emphasizes future opportunities
for these at-risk youth. A Herberger Theater Center youth outreach program.

Personal Panethnicity – when the color of my face is

various ethnicities based on a particular “common” characteristic –
language, religion or a physical characteristic – when group members
have little connection or cultural similarity. In this exhibit, artists
consider the concept of Panethnicity within themselves.
