A private Malibu paradise
for a fortunate few.
As the antithesis of all things urban, MariSol presents an exceptional and
private lifestyle intimately attuned to the raw beauty of Malibu’s rural
side. To breathe the woodsy fragrance of coastal sage, to immerse in the
strengthening balm of the Pacific, to witness billions of stars at night, to
walk the same footsteps as the Chumash, to enjoy the resurrected microclimate and abounding native flora and fauna, to find the perfect wave,
to discover what the soothing sound of the surf does for the soul—each
is an enviable consequence of life within MariSol.
Here, on the golden landscape of westernmost Malibu, a fortunate few
will have the opportunity to become treasured stewards of Frederick
Rindge’s earthly paradise and come to experience a rarefied lifestyle
amidst the profound artistry that can only exist in the nature of MariSol.

and preserve a legacy.
In the late 1800s, Frederick Rindge found his earthly paradise along the beaches and canyons
of his Rancho Malibu, a Spanish land grant stretching more than 25 miles from Santa Monica
to the San Buenaventura River. On this picturesque land inhabited for centuries by only the
Chumash, Rindge raised his family and chronicled his adventures in written word. His dream
to live on his Rancho for the rest of his days was cut short. His ranch house was destroyed by
fire in 1903 and shortly thereafter Rindge, at the age of 48, passed away, leaving his widow to
preserve his beloved Rancho. She fought bravely, but lost. Death and taxes, public roads and
progress tore at the Rancho, and by the 1930s, it was gone. Pristine beachfront property was
chopped into 30-foot lots and sold to stars of Hollywood’s fledgling movie industry seeking
their own piece of heaven.
Today, near the westerly end of Rancho Malibu, at the base of Little Sycamore Canyon, under
the shelter of Boney Ridge, there remains a pristine and serene 80-acre piece of Rindge’s
fronting the Pacific, only a fortunate few will have the opportunity to fulfill Rindge’s dream,
preserve his legacy, and become stewards of this pristine land.
This is Rindge’s earthly paradise.
This is MariSol.

is enshrouded in a separate and tranquil world. This is Malibu’s rural side, where nature is
triumphant. MariSol’s eco-developer, in furtherance of resurrecting the land’s pristine state,
harvested seeds from the site’s prominent native species and carefully nurtured them into
more than 20,000 plants—re-vegetating the site into an exquisite kaleidoscope of color,
texture and fragrant scents. Native trees from nearby coastal locations were carefully relocated
As a result, MariSol now thrives with more than 2,000 native and other coastal friendly
trees—creating a micro-climate which has repropagated the native flora and fauna as they
existed when Rindge owned this land. Demonstrating superbly the beauty and harmony of
native coastal plant and animal life is MariSol’s one-of-a-kind botanical and butterfly garden, a
130 native California plant species flourish. To walk this magnificent garden’s trails under the
boughs of hundred-year-old specimen coastal oaks and toyons, which supported the Chumash
in centuries past on this garden’s very grounds, is dreamlike – bolstering the aura that only
exists in the nature of MariSol. Nearby an organic garden yields herbs, vegetables and fruit for
fresh and nutritious culinary options for MariSol’s homeowners.
Street lights have been eliminated to preserve the star-filled night skies and power poles
removed and utilities undergrounded on Pacific Coast Highway and neighboring streets
and filtration systems to preserve the quality of the ocean water for the enjoyment of present
and future generations.
The mere act of being at MariSol slows heartbeats and gently melts creases from overstressed
brows. It is a refuge of nature untamed where the air and water are pure—and the living,
profound. Simply put, if ever there was a setting that retains the true essence of original
California, this private, serene stretch of Pacific coastline is surely it.

Design freedom
oceanfront estate sites, free of construction challenges, is the unprecedented design freedom
granted to MariSol owners. MariSol’s unique Malibu location entitles MariSol’s homes to an
extraordinarily beneficial exemption from coastal development permits, removing the lengthy

ultimate freedom of expression, MariSol owners will be given a nearly blank canvas on which to
create their artistry in architecture. Imagine more spacious indoor-outdoor living, more inspired

Although Malibu may be the most prestigious beachside

unique sense of community. It’s a place where influential
people give their valuable time and resources to civic and
environmental causes that safeguard the Malibu way of
life. To be part of MariSol is to belong to a close-knit group
of individuals who feel a kinship living in and loving the
Malibu community of which they are a part.
