1911 is a heart-stirring historical epic based on the Chinese
Revolution that brought the last feudal dynasty of China to
its downfall.
Huang Xin (Jackie Chan) and Sun Yat Sen
(Winston Chao) are the revolutionary leaders fighting
to give the people a better life. Hunted down by the royal
troops, many revolutionists sacrificed their lives during a
failed uprising.
The movie also stars Jackie’s son Jaycee Chan. The singeractor played the role of Zhang Zhen Yu, the leader of
a troop of royal army that rebelled and seized control of
several towns. The Empress appointed General Yuan Shi
Kai and his soldiers to suppress the uprisings. This time, with
Huang Xin in command of the Defending Troops, they
resisted the Qing soldiers for a month and finally won the
battle. Sun Yat Sen was appointed the temporary President
but eventually gave up his post to Yuan Shi Kai, who
managed to convince the Qing Royals to surrender.
The Republic was finally found, ending the Qing’s reign and
over 2000 years of monarchy in China.
Did You Know?
1911 is Jackie Chan’s 100th movie. The celebrated kungfu
and movie star, who started with a bit part in Big and Little
Wong Tin Bar in 1962 as an eight-year-old, got his big break
after becoming a stunt man in Bruce Lee’s Fist of Fury and
Enter the Dragon at 17.
