Martha Bryan
Bryan & Bryan Associates
Martha Bryan is a management consultant, author, speaker, and
seminar leader who speaks nationally and internationally regarding
the development of human potential and personal excellence.
With an education background in teaching, she has taught at both
high school and college levels and has held positions in both
government and private industry. Her work career expands from
farm laborer and cafeteria helper to positions in staff support, sales,
training and personnel administration. She has served in leadership
positions for a number of organizations -- chair of college advisory
boards, president of women's organizations, president of personnel
administration organizations and chairman of a financial institution.

Chuck Clanahan, CPP
Chuck serves as the Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) Kansas
Protective Security Advisor (PSA). Mr.
Clanahan contributes to the
development of the national risk picture
by assisting with the identification,
assessment, monitoring, and minimizing
of risk to critical assets. Mr. Clanahan
has over 30 years’ experience in Law
Enforcement, Security, Antiterrorism,
Response and Recovery Operations in a
combination of both Federal and military
service. As the Kansas PSA, Mr.
Clanahan conducts “All Hazards” Security
Assessments for Critical Infrastructures &
Key Resources, and acts as a physical and
technical security advisor to the private
sector, federal, state, and local agencies.
Mr. Clanahan holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Criminal Justice, graduate of
the 208th FBI National Academy and
ASIS International board Certified
Protection Professional (CPP).
After 20 years in public sector administration, Martha resigned to
start her own speaking, training and consulting firm. Fascinated by
what makes some individuals strive to be the very best, Martha has
devoted her life to studying peak performers. She is a highly
effective organization consultant and dynamic public speaker who is
recognized for her informative, down-to-earth, and entertaining
keynote presentations and workshops on motivation, personal
effectiveness, leadership, customer service, and change
management. Her programs on implementing quality, excellence,
leadership, vision and strategy, self-esteem and success
psychology bring about immediate changes and long - term results.
She gives such practical ideas, methods, tips and techniques that
participants emerge excited, enthusiastic and eager to apply her
ideas in their work and personal lives. You will enjoy spending time
with her!
Norbert Flax
Grisell Memorial Hospital District #1
Norbert is the Director of Maintenance at Grisell Memorial Hospital District
#1 in Ransom Kansas. As do most engineers in Kansas CAH hospitals, he
also oversees housekeeping and linen services in his hospital. Norbert’s
background as “doing it all” at his hospital provides him the experience and
the knowledge to field questions and comments from attendees on general
maintenance issues affecting all Kansas hospitals.
Thom Wellington
Wellington Environmental
Infection Control University
Thom is the President of Wellington Environmental
Infection Control University. Thom has extensive
training on environmental related issues and his
presentation on compliance training for vendor
employees will explain what the CDC objectives are
for vendor and staff infection control awareness
training. It will also include information to show how
your department can participate in a better patient
experience rating.
Tim Adams, FASHE, CHFM, CHC
Tim Adams is the Director of Leadership
Development for the American Society for
Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). His contributions
include developing education opportunities and
curriculum, teaching, advocacy, assisting ASHE
members with Facilities management, construction
and compliance issues, creating student internship
opportunities and working with universities to
develop specific health care physical environment
areas of emphasis and degree programs. He is a
frequent speaker and instructor at national, regional,
and chapter conferences.
Nancy Larson
Kansas State University Pollution Prevention Institute
Nancy Larson is director with the Kansas State University
Pollution Prevention Institute. Nancy has a B.S. in
microbiology and environmental health and is a registered
environmental health specialist and a practical nurse. She has
more than 25 years’ experience in the environmental and public
health arena. She is located in Wichita and worked with KState since 2000. Nancy has experience in all areas of
industrial environmental compliance and source reduction but
specializes in the healthcare industry. In 2001 Nancy founded
and led the Kansas Hospitals for a Healthy Environment of
KH2E. Her agency went on to win the H2E “Champions for
Change” award.
David Carter
Kansas State University Pollution Prevention Institute
David has his MS in toxicology, is a registered sanitarian, a
Certified Energy Manager, and both an environmental
management (ISO 14001) and energy management system
(ISO 50001) auditor. David has worked with PPI for more than
8 years and deals with many different industry sectors assisting
clients with both environmental compliance and pollution
prevention.
Prior to joining the ASHE staff, Tim spent over 20
years working in and with hospitals in the areas of
facilities management, clinical engineering,
construction, complains, and life safety. He is a past
president of the Indiana Society for Healthcare
Engineering and the Indiana Biomedical Society.
Tim is a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager
(CHFM), a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC)
and an ASHE Fellow (FASHE)
DEBBIE TRAVIS
KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
Debbie Travis from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will provide a
presentation focusing on regulations governing waste products typically found in a hospital
maintenance shop. Debbie’s biography and other pertinent information on the upcoming
presentation will be distributed prior to the spring conference.

KHEA engineer members. Green fees &

for non-member vendors golf fees are
$90. Cost includes lunch at the course.
PLEASE NOTE! Willowbend Golf Club
has a dress code.
Collared shirts are
required at all times. Jeans are allowed as
long as they are hemmed and not ripped or
torn. Shorts must be mid-thigh or longer
and hemmed at the bottom. Tennis shorts
and/or coaches’ shorts are examples that are
NOT allowed.
