PLAY: BIRDBEAR KISBEY-SENLAC RESOURCE OIL
Play Description: The dolomitic limestone of the Birdbear Formation subcrops in a broad fairway from SE
Saskatchewan/SW Manitoba (Kisbey), where the formation forms the bulk of the conventional structural oil play,
to west-central Saskatchewan (Senlac), where most of the oil resource play is currently focused and successful.
There is considerable room to expand the resource play between these two regions. The Birdbear is a shoaling-up,
carbonate-evaporite cycle deposited on an extensive platform. Differential solution and collapse of underlying Devonian
salt forms structural traps. The Duperow dolomite is also productive, especially in the Senlac region. It is grouped with
the Birdbear.
