Request for Proposal
Communications Manager
The Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission (SaskBarley) is looking for a tech-savvy, motivated,
articulate Communications Manager for work on a part-time basis. If you have an interest in modern
agriculture; finding out where your food (beer) comes from; how applied and academic research is
conducted; or how domestic or international markets are developed; then join our team and help us

environment. We are a very progressive and motivated organization and looking for like-minded people.
The Communications Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for providing
communications support to SaskBarley staff and Board of Directors. This would include website updates,
development and coordination of producer newsletter and the management of social media feeds. This is a
12 month contract position requiring a maximum of 40 hours per month. The selected candidate would be
expected to work out of their own office, but in close collaboration with the Executive Director.
The successful candidate will possess:
 Post-secondary education in marketing or communications
 Familiarity with the agricultural industry
 Ability to manage time effectively
 Strong written and verbal communication skills
 Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
 Proven ability to work independently
Specific responsibilities:
 Website updates and management
 Coordination of semi-annual newsletter
 Social media updates
 Other duties as agreed upon which could include (but not limited to): press releases, preparation
of annual reports or media campaigns
Please submit cover letter, resume and indicate your desired fee for 40 hours of work per month.
Opportunity for extension of contract beyond the 12 month period is a possibility for the right candidate.
