OCTOBER 2015 Featured Pet of the Month See this month’s featured furry friend (Page 3) October’s Calendar Of Events (Page 4) What’s happening in your community? (Page 2) 5410 Repecho Drive San Diego, CA 92124 (858) 292-7494 A Message From Your Community Director Christopher Ramirez As part of a “go green” initiative in light of the drought, this month we will begin our landscaping project. This shouldn’t affect our residents too much! We will be replacing most of the grace with a very pretty, drought-tolerant river rock landscape. We know this endeavor will save a lot of water for San Diego. We encourage you to continue to do what you can to conserve water. It is our most precious resource on this earth! Maintenance Tip Make sure to wipe down your windows and vent them regularly during the coming winter. This will prevent condensation from getting on the windows and causing mildew and mold. That way, trick-or-treaters will know which doors they can go to. You are welcome to make your own sign if you prefer as well. Last, but not least, stay safe =) You can make online rent payments within 3 simple steps: 1) Go to www.tierrasantaridge.com 2) Click on “For Residents” on the left tab 3) Click “Pay Rent Online” You will then set up an account and have the option to set up reoccurring payments. Pay on time to save from the $50 late fee! Visiting the pumpkin patch is one of falls many fun traditions. But before you go, keep these tips in mind to find the best pumpkin for carving (and eating) 1. Ban Blemishes Avoiding pumpkins with any brown spots as they may very well be a sign of bug infestation, which can quickly diminish a pumpkins shelf life. 2. Avoid the mush The pumpkin should be firm all over. Soft spots can indicate the pumpkin is decaying and will not carve well. 3. A good handle A hard, sturdy handle is helpful when relocating your pumpkin and helps with the carving process. 4. The right shape Round or oval pumpkins carve easier and provide more canvas to work with. Because of the fuller cavity inside, they will be full of yummy seeds for roasting! 5. Thickness If you are planning to eat your pumpkin, thicker walls are best. 6. Flat Bottom Be sure the bottom is flat so that it will display well when you are all done carving 7. HAVE FUN! Jessica Hays Leasing Manager 2 It’s official. Fall is here. Since it doesn’t quiet feel like it in San Diego yet, here are some ways for you to bring it indoors!!! Candles- what else says fall like a pumpkin spice candle? This is a very inexpensive way to incorporate fall colors too! Bring Nature Indoors- you can add driedout branches to a vase or collect fallen leaves from our trees and fill a mason jar with them. You can pick up a small pumpkin or some seasonal flowers! The colors and textures will bring warmth and coziness! Seasonal Textures- Burlap, flannel and wool are all iconic fall fabrics that can be used as pillow cases or decorative art in your apartment. Choose hues like red, orange and yellow to accents on your table or mantle. Food- Fall is one of the best times to get fresh fruits and vegetables like apples, blueberries and squash, all of which you can easily incorporate into your fall decorating (like making a fruit bowl for your table centerpiece). Alejandra Leasing Manager Did you know… we have a Facebook Fan page called “Tierrasanta Ridge Apartment Homes” We post updates and pictures to keep you informed on the latest events & developments. This is my to-do list for this October. What are you up to? Know anyone looking for a new home? Got a friend who will love living here as much as you do? Great! Refer them to Tierrasanta Ridge and you can receive $300 We recently brought home our new friend, Turbo. He's just shy of 4 months old and is starting to show us his personality. He loves kids and other animals and adores having his belly rubbed. He hates the rain, but loves rolling in wet grass. He is very curious and likes to smell all the smells. He also enjoys the ladies and a nice cold bowl of water. He adores dinosaur toys and ropes, but is absolutely stubborn. We love that we get to watch him learn and figure out what things are. Don't mind us if we throw him a small parade when we can get him to walk more than 20 feet without a 2 minute break to smell, rest, and scratch. Early Bird Winner Movie Night Recap Our movie night last month was very fun! We had about 60 residents out on the Tennis Courts to watch a cinema under the stars! In addition to each of you, the popcorn, candy, hot dogs, veggies, sodas and HUGE movie screen made it very special! Many of you asked if/when we’d be 3 having one again. YES we will. When? Soon. CONGRATULATIONS TO ESTHER!!!! The Early Bird gets the worm! Submit your rent prior to the 1st of any month and be eligible for the Early Bird Drawing. The winner gets $50 off the following month’s rent.
