Be patient with yourself. You will not learn everything overnight. Commit yourself to a certain number of hours per week to go to “Mary Kay School,” including weekly unit meetings and your own appointments. You’ll also want to commit yourself to at least 1 full year of consistent effort in your business and allow it and you to grow. Great training and education are important. These few things will get you off to a super start. Attending your local unit meeting consistently each week is important for your business. You will also want to view 1-2 skin care classes of your sales director or your recruiter. Five years from now, what do you want for yourself…for your family? Your Mary Kay Education Starts Here Thursday Night Live Training & Guest Events: We have awesome Success Events every week for on-going education, inspiration, and a place to bring guests. Our local event is called Thursday Night Live, and it is held in Frederick, MD. If you are not local, contact me and I will find you a success event in your area. These meetings are very important to your success! Always try to bring guests to the meeting so they can experience our products and see what Mary Kay is all about! New Consultant Checklist What To Do In Your First Week As A Beauty Consultant: Log on to www.marykayintouch.com using your Consultant number. Create a password for yourself and review the First Steps offers. Click the Education tab at the top of Mary Kay Intouch and select Starter Kit/New Consultant Tools. Start by watching the New Consultant video and then move on to the How To Hold A Party and Practice Makes Perfect videos. Visit the Silver Wings Scholar Program on Mary Kay Intouch by going to the Education tab and selecting Consultant Education. Click on the New Independent Beauty Consultant box and complete the tutorials. These are fun and interactive and you can do them at your own pace. “Friend” Michelle on Facebook so she can add you to our unit’s group page. Add Mary Kay to the “work” section of your personal Facebook page. If you have a Smartphone, download the free Voxer app in your App Store. Facebook and Voxer are two of the main ways you will stay connected to Michelle. Make an appointment with Michelle to develop your business plan and to discuss your new Consultant inventory options and bonus opportunities (found on page 9 of the Welcome Packet). Then, set a date to place your first order and to hold your Launch Party within your first 2 weeks of business. Create a list of all the women you know who have skin (at least 75). Think of EVERYONE! Use pages 14 and 15 in the Start Something Beautiful magazine to help you brainstorm. Bring this list with you to your welcome appointment with Michelle. Use the Booking Script for Success found on page 5 of your Welcome Packet to begin booking your first parties and facials. Use pages 34-39 in the Start Something Beautiful magazine to learn more about booking appointments. Take a look at page 4 of your Welcome Packet and pages 18 and 19 of the Start Something Beautiful magazine. Develop your track to run on and determine which prizes you plan to earn as a new Beauty Consultant. Share these goals with Michelle. Attend your first Success Meeting to receive your Mary Kay Pin-your first piece of Mary Kay jewelry! Complete this checklist and receive the Mary Kay Money Bag. New Consultant Prizes The perfect start to your business begins with the Perfect Start! Share product with 15 faces in 15 days (beginning with your first face) and you will earn your beautiful charm bracelet and the Perfect Start charm. Have your new customers color in a face as you complete this challenge. Continue your progress by completing the Power Start! Share product with a total of 30 faces in 30 days and you will earn your Power Start charm. Earn your Pearls of Sharing earrings and bracelet when you have 6 customers do a marketing hotline survey on a three-way call with Michelle in 30 days. Earn your necklace when you add your first team member. Earn the Power Start Plus charm when you do a Power Start and your 6 marketing hotline surveys in the same 30-day time period. I was wondering if I could borrow your face and have you count you as one of my 30 faces? Great! I appreciate your support so much and I promise I’ll make it well worth your while. Under normal circumstances, what would be better for you: the beginning of the week or the end of the week? (Keep giving two choices until and date is set.) Marketing Hotline Script As you begin to build your customer base, it’s not only important to understand how to properly demonstrate Mary Kay products, but it’s also critical that you know how to answer the questions that future clients will begin to ask you about the Mary Kay business opportunity. Doing a career survey with your Sales Director and six or more of your clients will help you learn how to answer those questions with confidence and will assist you in adding your first team members. You know, _______, my Sales Director has challenged me to have six of my customers listen to our unit’s marketing hotline this month to earn my Pearls of Sharing in Mary Kay. I realize that you may not be interested in becoming a Consultant, but I was wondering if you’d be willing to help me with my training? All you have to do is listen to our 15-minute marketing hotline and do a brief three-way phone call with my Sales Director and me to give us your opinion of the information and answer a few questions. The Proof is in the Profit It is our goal that the Beauty Consultants in our unit begin earning a profit from their Mary Kay businesses within the first month and that they continue to earn a profit each month thereafter. The number of skin care parties you hold/faces you see each month is in direct proportion to the profit you will earn. In the examples below, the average of $50 in retail sales per face is used to estimate what you could expect your monthly profit to be. That average will continue to increase as your skill level increases. You should note that these estimates do not include product reorders or the 4, 9, or 13% team-building commissions and bonuses you can also earn from Mary Kay, beginning with your first team member. You can use all or some of this in the beginning of your business to pay off your initial inventory investment. Then that 40% is yours to keep...whether you pay bills, save up for a family vacation, or buy yourself something special...the choice is yours! 60% of what is collected from customers is used for business expenses. 50% should be placed in a separate checking account and is used to place product orders with a debit card. This allows you to build inventory or replace inventory you’ve sold off your shelf. The remaining 10% can be used to build more inventory and pay for business supplies, samples, and other business expenses. Dress for Success Mary Kay Ash knew you only have one chance to make a great first impression. It was her request that we always maintain a professional yet feminine image; which includes wearing ONLY Mary Kay products and wearing a skirted outfit to all appointments. Mary Kay Consultant Mary Kay Beauty Coat (order on MK Connections), skirt or dress, black or neutral hose, and flats or heels with Mary Kay logo pin. Senior Consultant (1-2 active team members) Same attire as MK Consultant with Senior Consultant enhancer. Star Team Builder (3-4 active team members) Black skirt, white blouse, choice of three Red Jacket styles with MK Star Team Builder enhancer, black or neutral hose, and heels. Team Leader (5-7 active team members) Same attire as Star Team Builder except Team Leader enhancer is worn. Future Sales Director (8+ active team members) Same attire as Star Team Builder except Future Sales Director enhancer and scarf are worn. DIQ or Director in Qualification (10+ active team members) Same attire as Star Team Builder except black blouse and DIQ pin are worn. What are your Mary Kay pins saying about you? Your Mary Kay pins are a representation of your incredible accomplishments in your business and should be worn with pride. However, be careful not to overdo it. Too many pins adorning your lapel can look cluttered and distasteful. A good guideline is no more than three pins. Your Mary Kay Logo Pin and Star Consultant Pin are always great choices. Taking pride in your appearance and the way your Starter Kit and mirrors look is all a part of the Mary Kay Image. Always make sure your Starter Kit is clean and organized and that there are no finger prints on your mirrors. Arriving at your appointments in a clean car in shoes that are free from scuffs is also important. And don’t forget to wear a smile with Mary Kay lipstick on it : ) Pages 104-105 in the Start Something Beautiful magazine offer other great fashion tips.
