Pastor’s Pen
For the Week of
Mar 28-Apr 3
By Fr. Luke Ferris
MONDAY, March 28
Happy Easter! He has Risen! He has
risen, indeed! These joyous words remind
us that Jesus has overcome death. This
beautiful truth speaks to us with hope that we and all
who have gone ahead of us with faith will also rise
from death to eternal life.
One of our fellow parishioners shared this deep
hope at our Living Stations of the Cross. Each year he
plants flower bulbs in memory of his deceased wife.
And each Easter those bulbs flourish into colorful,
new life.
Perhaps Jesus’ Resurrection is hard for us to
accept. Even the first disciples struggled, “For they
did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise
from the dead.” (John 20:9) Let us ask God to show
us signs of the life that awaits us. See the buds on the
trees, smell the fresh air, and feel the joy that comes
to our heart. He has risen. He has risen, indeed!

Bishop’s Appeal Supports
Catholic Charities
Counseling Services
A wedding is an exciting event!
But what happens when the
honeymoon is over? Marriage is
hard. Issues like poor
communication, financial stress, family problems,
infidelity, and resentment can weaken a marriage.
Catholic Charities Counseling Services provides a light
out of the darkness. Your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal
helps to promote healthy marriages. Did you know in
2015, 20% of the distributions from the Bishop’s Appeal
went to support the services provided by Catholic
Charities?
Currently $1.9 million has been raised toward our $5.1
million dollar goal. Please help those who are Faces of
God’s Mercy by making a gift to the Bishop’s Appeal.
Your gift today helps Catholic Charities reach out to
counsel those in need. Thank you for your support of
the Bishop’s Appeal.

Why Women have abortions
The Guttmacher Institute research in 2011 revealed
that 98% of all abortions are related to issues of
personal choice, being primarily emotional and
financial. Pregnancy help centers, like A & A
Alexandria in Green Bay, exist to help women facing
these issues. Supporting these centers help both
mothers and babies.
Less than 1% of all abortions are for “hard cases” like
rape, incest and protection of the mothers’ life. A
person who supports abortion on demand will almost
always use these hard cases as their fallback reason to
keep abortion legal, even though 99% of abortions are
for other reasons. Every kid deserves a Birth Day.
