Dear Friends,
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff has
been an anchor of community service in Northern
Arizona since 1967. In our 43 years, we have
brought the magic of mentoring to literally thousands
of children.
The success of this organization can be
attributed to decades of strong leadership rooted
in a clear focus on our mission of helping children
succeed by matching them with appropriate adult
mentors. This focused leadership has not gone
unnoticed in our community. While economic trends
have gone up and down over the years, BBBSF has
continued to thrive, serving the community through a
consistently growing number of lasting matches.
Looking forward, I intend to continue our
tradition of focused leadership. In the next year, I
will concentrate my efforts on ensuring that BBBSF
continues to pursue our vision of providing a mentor
to every child who needs or wants one.
Our history of serving this community with
proven results is what has provided this organization
with a base of supporters who know their contributions make a difference. I encourage you to make a
difference by volunteering your time as a mentor, or
by making a financial
contribution. Now is the time

2nd Annual Mountain High
Golf Tournament
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff was proud to host
our 2nd Annual Mountain High Golf Tournament on
May 21st, 2010. About 100 participants joined us at the
Aspen Valley Golf Club to raise money for our mentoring
programs while enjoying fun
in the sun. Over $9,000 was
raised, helping us to continue
impacting the lives of children
in Flagstaff and Williams
through mentoring.

Clothes For Kids’ Sake
At the end of each school year, many NAU students
move out of the dorms and leave behind unwanted
clothing, furniture, and more. Again this spring,
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff’s “Clothes for
Kids’ Sake” program partnered with “NAU Cast Off”
to collect these used items. Donation bins were
placed in each dorm and our faithful truck-driver,
Tom Hart, picked up boxes full of donations daily.
By bringing these
donations to Savers Thrift
Store, we raised a total of
$6,975, more than doubling
the funds from previous
move-out years. Thank you

Our Programs
Community Based Mentoring: In this 43-year-old
mentoring program, Bigs serve as mentors and friends
to Littles within the Flagstaff and Williams communities.
Once matched, Bigs and Littles bond by going on outings
and doing fun activities together. Bigs and Littles meet
for a couple hours a few times a month.
School Based Mentoring: Bigs meet with Littles in first
through fifth grade in this after-school program at seven
different elementary schools in Flagstaff and Williams.
During their one-on-one time together, matches
participate in recreational, health, community and
academic activities. Bigs and Littles meet from 3:30-5:30
p.m., weekly, throughout the school year.
Lunch Buddies Mentoring: The Lunch Buddies program
pairs Bigs and Littles together once a week during the
Little’s school lunch break. Matches meet at the Little’s
school and bond while eating lunch together, playing a
game, or just talking.
STARS: In Coconino County there are more than 1,300
children with an incarcerated parent. In the STARS
program, Bigs are matched with Littles who have an
incarcerated parent or close family member. Bigs and
Littles meet for a couple hours a few times a month.
STEP UP: In a partnership with the Coconino County
Juvenile Court Services, this program matches teens
involved in the court system with positive adult role
models. Bigs provide friendship and support to these
teens, which inspires them to make positive life
decisions.
GEAR UP: This unique mentoring program pairs
adult mentors with high school students. Mentors
share their educational and personal backgrounds
with youth who are working toward high school
graduation with the goal of becoming first
generation college students.
