CALL FOR FEMALE STRING MUSICIANS
Needed: 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello
Show Brazil Productions announces auditions for 4 female string positions for one hour
performance on October 17th in Maple Valley, WA.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 4th from 8:30 – 10 p.m. at Open Flight
Studio located at 4205 University Way NE, across from Bulldog News in Seattle’s
University District. Musicians should come prepared with an up to 2 minutes piece with
two copies of the music sheet showing the part to be performed. Musician also will be
performing up to 2 minutes provided by Show Brazil!
* Selected musicians will be receiving $20 as stipend per rehearsal scheduled for
Tuesdays, September 18, 25, October 2, 9 and 16th from 8-9 p.m. in Seattle. The
concert fee is of $100 per musician.
The concert is to performing music of Brazilian composer Chiquinha Gonzaga (October
17th, 1847 - February 28th, 1935) who was born and died in Rio de Janeiro. Chiquinha
was a composer, pianist and the first Brazilian female conductor. Chiquinha was a
pianist, and female string players performing her music on strings will innovate the
performance of her music and remembering her as a woman, as innovator, and for her
giant contribution to the Brazilian music. Female artists who will be performing most
songs from Chiquinha Gonzada, and as well originals from Eduardo Mendonça who will
be the arranger and Music Director.
