ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE STEEP
HILLSIDES OF NORWAY
The village of Dale is nestled between beautiful steep mountains, waterfalls and fjords
on the west coast of Norway. In 1879, the historic textile factory was established in this valley
with easy access to wool, strong knitting traditions, and a great supply of natural power from
the local waterfalls. Since then, Dale of Norway has developed stunning designs
in premium qualities that are well-known worldwide.
AUTHENTIC SINCE 1879 DESIGNED AND KNITTED AT DALE
Since 1879, Dale of Norway has crafted the world’s finest knitwear, inspired by beautiful Norwegian
patterns and the active Norwegian lifestyle. Still today, the design and knitting process is done at the
old factory. The experienced staff follows every step of the production with their personal touch and
attention. This is the secret behind the unique qualities of the Dale of Norway garments.
100% NATURAL WOOL WITH
EXCEPTIONAL PROPERTIES
Dale of Norway is a leading innovator of new wool and yarn qualities. All of their knitwear is made
with 100% premium and eco-friendly wool. The collection is designed with different types of wool,
ranging from the strong Norwegian wool, ideal for durable mid- and outerlayer knitwear,
to extra-fine skinsoft Merino. With unique knitting techniques, the results are garments
with exceptional long-lasting qualities.
Despite the development of synthetic materials,
no man-made fiber can match the technical properties of wool:

BEAUTIFUL NORWEGIAN DESIGNS –
ALL WITH A UNIQUE STORY
Due to the cold winters, Norway has a long tradition for wool and knitwear.
The beautiful traditional patterns have mostly been inspired by nature or history.
Over the past 130 years, Dale of Norway has developed its own famous designs,
and redesigned age-old Norwegian patterns, turning them into garments
for fashion and sport with an authentic story.
That’s why Dale of Norway offers “more than a sweater…”

The traditional part of the collection,
based on authentic Norwegian patterns,
yarn and details such as pewter clasps
and buttons. The selection is inspired by
the Norwegian culture such as national
folk costumes, traditional sweater
designs, or other historical patterns from
different districts of Norway.
Feminine and elegant garments with
beautiful designs and exclusive details.
To keep them as light and comfortable as
possible, skinsoft Merino is mainly used.
The collection varies from traditional
patterns with an attractive fit, to more
timeless classics. The versatile designs
are ideal for the office, around town and
for an evening party. “Eventyr” is the
Norwegian word for fairy tale.
The comeback of the old knitting
patterns, with a younger fit and look.
The designs are more contemporary,
and the qualities vary from fine skinsoft
Merino to more textured look, and even
Weatherproof garments. This is retro;
old craftsmanship in new shapes and
packaging.
Attractive and technical garments made
for hiking, hunting, fishing – or daily
outdoor use, with earthy tones. All
the details and features are exclusive
ranging from salmon and elk skin, to
buttons of deer antlers. Most of the
products are made of water-repellent
wool with a windproof liner, providing
protection from rain, snow and wind.
These garments are also stain and dirt
resistant – keeping them clean, even in
lighter colors.
Sporty looking or technical products,
with less distinctive patterns, clean lines
and often clear and bright colors. A
more dynamic expression; custom-cut
for both men and women. The qualities
vary from skinsoft midlayer sweaters
and cardigans, to innovative outerlayer
Weatherproof qualities. The unique
Knitshell™ jackets are water repellent
and windproof, ideal for the ski slopes.
Dale of Norway is introducing a group
of classic sweaters and cardigans, made
with an incredibly soft and luxurious
Merino for ultimate comfort. Our
knitting experts have perfected the lightweight knit; the quality is unsurpassed
and virtually pilling free. These designs
have a wonderful fit and are offered in a
range of attractive, solid colors.
KIDS
ACCESSORIES
Dale of Norway offers beautiful highquality sweaters in children’s sizes. The
light Merino and stretchy Comfort
fabrics are loved by kids since they are
comfortable against skin with no itching,
and still have the natural benefits of
wool. The traditional designs are made
with a softer version of the long-lasting
Norwegian yarn. The sweaters match
some of the most popular adult designs,
perfectly suited for the family photo.
Dale of Norway’s accessories are the
ultimate complement to the sweaters and
jackets – but are also appealing as a standalone group. They are knitted in lighter
and softer yarn qualities for ultimate
comfort. The headbands and hats feature
an extraordinary advantage as they are
lined with extra-fine skinsoft Merino,
providing all the technical benefits of 100%
wool. The Weatherproof hats, with waterrepellent yarn and windproof lining, are
perfect in extreme weather conditions.
