Industrial Relations Officer (6-month fixed-term contract) We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about labour relations to provide an IR support service to the Group ER Manager for a variety of tasks. The position is based in Johannesburg and is a six- (6-) month fixed-term contract. Task and responsibilities: • Perform administrative duties for a range of IR activities, which will include drawing reports from data submitted, formatting data into graphs/charts, and liaising with Operations for outstanding documentation • Organise and arrange meetings for the Housing Task Team and Petra Diamonds Employee Trust • Act as scribe and compile minutes of meetings attended • Organise and arrange IR training • Assist in the compilation of IR policies • Consolidate monthly IR reports and draw trends • Assist with ad hoc IR tasks as required. Minimum requirements: • 3-year HR/IR degree or diploma • At least 6 months’ experience in Industrial Relations • Good understanding of current Labour legislation (EEA, LRA and BCEA) • Proven computer literacy in MS Office suite • Sound administration skills • Valid driver’s licence (EB/08). Other skills/competencies: • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) in English • Planning, coordinating and prioritising skills • Skilled in minute taking • Attention to detail • Passionate about labour relations. Following the award of a number of new contracts and the resultant growth in labour, plant and equipment, a number of key appointments need to be made in the areas of personnel and materials management: Human Resources Manager/Director The requirement currently exists for a seasoned Human Resources practitioner who can demonstrate the ability to manage a large multidisciplinary team covering all building, civil engineering and MEP functions, each with its own HR Management structure, within a contracting environment. The incumbent will be responsible for the management, alignment and consolidation of all 3 divisional HR teams in order to benefit from economies of scale within the Group. Previous experience within the Middle East, whilst not essential, would be an advantage. Supply Chain/Purchasing Manager The successful applicant for this position will have experience in working through the entire supply chain process from tender quotations to purchasing, storage and distribution. He/she will be required to manage the purchasing teams and the stores and distribution operations, and to liaise with the commercial teams in terms of providing feedback and support at both pre- and post-tender level. A key aspect of the role will be the strengthening, streamlining and future development of the supply chain systems, controls and structure. Previous Middle East experience, whilst not essential, would be an added advantage. HSE Manager Applicants must be qualified in an engineering discipline to tertiary level and possess relevant qualifications in OH&S and/or Environmental Studies, with experience in operating as lead auditor for ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Candidates must have had at least 10 years’ experience working in a construction environment, of which at least 7 must have been in an HSE role. The successful individual must be able to take charge of multiple sites and advise Top Management on OH&S strategy, surveillance and implementation of the HSE system. Time & Attendance/Office Manager A senior and experienced Timekeeper with a strong character is required to oversee a large team of Timekeepers, Gatekeepers, Security and Computer Clerks who in turn will manage the movement of over 8 000 labourers and staff. The positions calls for an individual with 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in a construction or mining environment, who is fully computer literate (the company operates on the Kronos system) and is able to produce accurate and comprehensive reports on the movement of labour and plant, as well as assist the commercial and tendering teams in costing and cost allocation. Head Stores Manager A highly experienced Stores Manager is required to take control of both the central stores set up as well as approximately 10 independent site stores around various parts of Dubai/Abu Dhabi. The individual appointed will need to have 5 to 10 years’ experience in a senior stores management role, ideally within a construction environment, and be fully computer literate. He/she will work closely with the supply chain management team and be able to produce accurate and timeous monthly reports for commercial, wastage and costings for all temporary, permanent and consumable materials.
