Project
The Project Manager A340 refurbishment will report directly to the Project
Owner, who is the Chief Technical Officer. Organizationally the selected
candidate will be part of the Technical Division Development team, which
centrally addresses and coordinates cross-unit and divisional topics like
projects, analysis or reporting for the Technical Division.
SWISS is exchanging part of its Airbus A340-300 fleet with new Boeing B777300ER in 2016 and 2017. Several A340-300 will for the time being be further
operated by SWISS and in order to live up to the SWISS premium brand
positioning the cabin of these aircraft shall be refurbished. This will mean new
seats in all classes (Economy, Business and First), new galleys, upgrade of
the inflight entertainment system as well as introduction of customer
connectivity on board. The project manager will be leading the overall project
and will therefore closely work with different business units throughout SWISS
(i.e. Product, Operations, Technical Division) to ensure a timely and smooth
project completion within the given cost budget.

Leads the overall cabin A340 refurbishment project and all relevant subgroups
Reports periodically to the Project Owner and the Steering Committee
Establishes and manages all necessary project groups and the work stream
structure
Applies an effective project controlling
Plans necessary project resources and coordinates availability of such
resources
Escalates target conflicts to the Project Owner and/or Steering Committee
Oversees A340 refurbishment contracts management
Ensures correct reflection of A340 refurbishment in financial statements
Establishes a functioning project organization, runs and monitors project
development
Structures the project and sub-projects into phases, monitors target
completion
Applies? appropriate risk management system
Addresses issues and conflicts within the project team and escalates if
necessary
In case of low A340 refurbishment workload during certain project phases,
the Project Manager could be assigned to other projects and topics

University degree preferred; master degree or bachelor in combination with
several years experience in relevant field (aviation and/or project
management)
Proven track-record in managing projects
Capable of addressing technical, operational and commercial issues alike
Good judgment with strong communication and presentation skills
Good knowledge of MS office applications
Project management experience in aircraft refurbishment projects is a plus
Experience in aviation industry of advantage
Good English and German knowledge; written and spoken
