Rina Solorzano and Felix Siman
Rina Solorzano and Felix Siman OCTOBER 15, 2011 As Roaring Twenties Inspired many childhood friends do, Rina and Felix lost touch once they left for college. “We both moved back to Miami around the same time and bumped into each other at a hookah lounge a few years ago,” Rina recalls. The couple rekindled their old friendship and developed a stronger, lasting relationship: “As we reconnected we became best friends and fell in love. It has been an amazing journey together since then!” After committing to stick together for the long haul, the couple started looking into apartments to buy. “The one we really liked had sold quickly, so when another [apartment] in the same building became available we went to go look at it at night. Felix then surprised me by telling me he wanted to start our life together right then, as he bent down on one knee in front of the apartment!” says Rina. Rina Solorzano and Felix Siman were married in a full-length mass at Epiphany Catholic Church on October 15, 2011 with 350 of their closest family and friends. “We were just so happy and couldn’t stop smiling. He looked like a prince!” says the bride. “When I saw her start walking down the aisle, I was almost breathless; Rina looked more than breathtakingly stunning and beautiful. I couldn’t stop thinking how I was so fortunate to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and love,” says the groom, sweetly. Décor for the reception, held at the historic Alfred I. Dupont Building, was reminiscent of the roaring twenties – “everything white with lots of feathers and a Coco Chanel vibe with hanging pearls.” Rina’s vision for a modern-day take on a 1920s-inspired wedding was beautifully executed by A Joy Wallace and event planner Lourdes Milian. Chef Elgin Woodman of A Joy Wallace Catering provided an exquisite menu for the evening, consisting of a variety of stations with Mediterranean, Italian, American, and Spanish cuisines. The building’s historical vault was decked out lavishly with a full display of white candies and desserts: rock candy, marshmallows, gum balls, white-chocolate covered pretzels, cupcakes, white swirl pops, sugared almonds, and more. Guests enjoyed an evening full of entertainment. “The music was amazing; we danced the whole night! We really celebrated and so did everyone else,” says the groom. A special surprise at the end of the night was an extraordinary Carnivale performance complete with dancers, drummers, and stilt walkers!
