Dear All,
It is a pleasure to present our first newsletter written from our brand new school site in Laeken!
2012 has been a very special year for the entire school community. Our school was busy preparing the move to
our new site, and in August 2012 the anticipated day finally arrived! Our new site in Laeken officially opened its
doors in September 2012, welcoming approximately 1540 pupils and 170 members of staff.
Our first term in Laeken has been adventurous: full of excitement and challenges for all. The school team had
worked extremely hard in order to ensure the smooth running of the new school; I would like to thank everyone
in the school community for collaborating together in this new start.
Our new site was officially inaugurated on 24 October 2012. We also had the pleasure of welcoming the Board
of Governors of the European Schools on 5 December 2012.
There were many dynamic events organised in school including several enriching educational projects: art
week, art exhibition, drumming workshops, Christmas concerts and others. In this newsletter you will find some
of the descriptions and photos of these projects.
Our main focus this first term has been ensuring that all of our pupils are settled and well integrated into the new
school; the teachers and pupils have been working on our school rules and code of conduct, promoting mutual
respect and tolerance between all pupils. It is crucial for all members of our school community to demonstrate
this mutual respect for each other in order to create a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere in our everyday
school life.
I take this opportunity to wish everyone a well deserved break and wish you all a very merry Christmas and
Happy New Year 2013!

C'est avec plaisir que nous vous présentons notre premier bulletin d'information écrit de notre nouvelle école à
Laeken! 2012 a été une année très spéciale pour toute la communauté scolaire. Notre école s’est beaucoup
préparée pour le déménagement vers le nouveau site, et en Août 2012 le grand jour était enfin arrivé! Notre
nouveau site a officiellement ouvert ses portes en Septembre 2012, en accueillant 1540 élèves et 170 membres
du personnel.
Notre première période à Laeken a été une grande aventure: beaucoup d'excitation et de défis pour tous.
Toute l’équipe scolaire a beaucoup travaillé afin d'assurer le bon fonctionnement de la nouvelle école; je tiens à
remercier toute l’équipe d’avoir collaboré ensemble à ce nouveau départ.
Notre nouveau site a été officiellement inauguré le 24 Octobre 2012. Nous avons également eu le plaisir d'accueillir le Conseil Supérieur des Ecoles européennes à l’école le 5 Décembre 2012. De nombreux projets pédagogiques enrichissants se sont déroulés à l'école pendant cette première période: semaine d'art, exposition
d'art, des ateliers de percussions, concerts de Noël et autres. Dans ce bulletin, vous trouverez quelques-unes
des descriptions et des photos de ces projets.
Lors de cette première période, notre principal objectif a été de s'assurer que tous nos élèves se sont bien intégrés dans la nouvelle école. Les enseignants et les élèves ont travaillé sur nos règles scolaires et le code de
conduite, de promouvoir le respect mutuel et la tolérance entre tous les élèves. Il est essentiel pour tous les
membres de notre communauté scolaire de démontrer ce respect mutuel entre les uns et les autres afin de
créer une atmosphère paisible et harmonieuse dans notre vie quotidienne de l'école.
Je vous souhaite à tous un repos bien mérité, un très joyeux Noël et bonne année 2013!

Inauguration of our new school in Laeken
Our new site was officially inaugurated on 24 October 2012 in presence of His Royal
Majesty King Albert II and Her Royal Highness Queen Paola of Belgium and numerous
other important guests including Mr BARROSO, President of the European Commission.
The school was honoured to hear that the King and Queen of Belgium, who are geographically our neighbours, had accepted our invitation to attend the official Inauguration
ceremony.
All pupils from all levels (nursery, primary and secondary) were involved in the preparation of the inauguration ceremony.
During the official opening ceremony the school orchestra and choir performed for the
guests; after the opening ceremony 1300 pupils performed a European song for the
Royal Couple and the other guests.
The Royal Couple then visited some selected classes from the nursery, primary and
secondary school.
The Inauguration was a very special day for the entire school community.
We feel privileged to be able to accommodate our pupils in this beautiful, spacious site
with which combines completely renovated historical buildings with modern ones. The
beautiful panoramic views of Brussels from the site are truly exceptional and make us
feel grateful for this truly unique site.
Notre nouveau site a été officiellement inauguré le 24 Octobre 2012 avec la présence de
Sa Majesté le Roi Albert II et Son Altesse Royale la Reine Paola de Belgique et de nombreux autres invités important, dont M. BARROSO, Président de la Commission européenne.
Toute l’équipe scolaire a été honorée d'apprendre que le Roi et la Reine de Belgique, qui
sont géographiquement nos voisins, ont accepté notre invitation à assister à la cérémonie d'inauguration officielle du 24 Octobre 2012. En plus du couple royal, il y avait aussi
plus de 200 invités d’invités importants.
Les élèves de tous les niveaux (maternelle, primaire et secondaire) ont été impliqués
dans la préparation de la cérémonie d'inauguration. Au cours de la cérémonie d'ouverture officielle, l'orchestre et la chorale de l’école ont joué et chanté pour les invités ; après
la cérémonie nos 1300 élèves ont chanté une chanson européenne pour le couple royal
et les autres invités.
Le couple royal a ensuite visité quelques classes en maternelle, primaire et secondaire.
L'inauguration a été sans conteste une journée très particulière pour toute la communauté scolaire.
Nous nous sentons privilégiés d'être en mesure d'accueillir nos élèves sur ce beau et
vaste site qui combine des bâtiments chargés d’histoire mais entièrement rénovés. La
belle vue panoramique sur Bruxelles que l’on a depuis le site est vraiment exceptionnelle et nous sommes vraiment reconnaissants de pouvoir profiter au quotidien d’un si bel
environnement.

Racconti ed emozioni di alcuni allievi della classe P2 IT
A me la festa è piaciuta tanto perché c’erano la Regina e il Re. Abbiamo
cantato una canzone per la Regina e il Re e siamo stati tutti contenti. Ma
questa Regina non aveva la corona! Forse l’ha dimenticata nel suo palazzo. Mi ha detto la mia mamma che il Re è arrivato con la macchina, io
pensavo arrivasse con la carrozza, forse è venuto in macchina perché è
più veloce.
Annarita
Quando siamo andati a cantare ero felicissima perché non vedevo l’ora
di vedere il Re e la Regina. Quando stavamo cantando mi hanno fotografata in faccia e il Re e la Regina mi hanno visto mentre mi fotografavano. Mi sono dispiaciuta perché il Re e la Regina non sono venuti
nella nostra classe. Ero contenta di questo giorno.
Giulia
Oggi c’è stata l’inaugurazione della scuola con la Regina, il Re, il Presidente Barroso e tanti altri signori. Siamo usciti in silenzio e abbiamo cantato in tutte le lingue. Alla fine abbiamo alzato le bandierine e siamo ritornati in classe. Questa giornata mi è piaciuta molto perché ho visto la Regina. Sono curioso di vedermi alla televisione.

Dopo tanti giorni di preparativi finalmente il giorno dell’inaugurazione è
arrivato. Stamattina quando la mamma mi ha svegliato mi sono alzato
subito. Ero contento, avrei visto il Re e la Regina. Invece, delusione, li
ho visti da lontano e non sono venuti in classe.

Oggi a scuola ero molto emozionato e non vedevo l’ora di incontrare il
Re e la Regina che sono venuti per l’inaugurazione della scuola. Però
sono rimasto un po’ deluso. Mi aspettavo un Re muscoloso, con i capelli
gialli e la corona e una Regina con il vestito bianco e la corona. Invece il
Re e la Regina erano molti diversi. Però la festa è stata bella e mi sono
divertito.

Ho aspettato questa giornata con ansia. L’ho vissuta con felicità e allegria. Mi sono divertita a cantare in tante lingue.

Opening of the Bulgarian section
On 24 October during the official Inauguration of the European school Brussels IV
in Laeken with a special ceremony was opened the first Bulgarian section in the
System of the European Schools. The event started with the ringing of a school
bell according to the old Bulgarian tradition. The guests Mrs Petia Evtimova, Deputy Мinister of The Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science; Mr Dimiter
Тzantchev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the EU; Mr. Kivinen, the Secretary-General of
the European Schools, Mr. Schlabe, Director, and Mrs Vaiva Ivanauskiene, Deputy Director N/P were welcomed by the first BG students from P1 and the Kindergarten. They were warmly greeted by the children with Bulgarian songs and poems
of our national poets Ivan Vazov and Atanas Dalchev: “My dear fatherland” and “
To You my land”. Filip, from P4EN said, “It’s wonderful to see that from now on
there will be a Bulgarian section in the European School!”
На 24 октомври 2012 година, в деня на официалното откриване на най- новото Европейско училище в Лаекен, Брюксел IV, на специална церемония отвори врати първата българска секция в системата на Европейските училища.
Тържеството беше открито по стара българска традиция със звън на училищна камбана, изработена от ученици в България.
На празника присъстваха заместник министърът на образованието г-жа Петя
Евтимова, г-н Димитър Цанчев, постоянeн представител на Република България към Европейския съюз, посланик на България в Европейския съюз; г-н
Кивинен – генерален секретар на Европейските училища; г-н Шлабе - директор на училището и г-жа Ивановскине - зам. директор за начален етап.
Гостите бяха поздравени със стихове на Иван Вазов и Атанас Далчев и
български песни, изпълнени от учениците:

Koningin Paola op bezoek in onze klas
Na de officiële opening van de school, op woensdag 24 oktober,
bracht Koningin Paola een bezoekje aan onze klas.
Wij zongen een lied over een blije Koningin en gaven de Koningin een
boekje met tekeningen van onze nieuwe school. De Koningin was
heel belangstellend en vriendelijk. Zij beloofde ons het boekje te bewaren in de kast waar ook haar kroon staat. We waren heel erg onder
de indruk van alle fotografen en persmensen.
Visit to the Farm P1
On October 15th, Miss Karen and Miss Emily's classes had their first
school outing of the year – a trip to Ferme de la Valee in Genappe.
The children set off early on a beautiful Autumn's day. full of promise
and excitement about what lay ahead. …
The children were warmly greeted on arrival and then given a really
special treat – hot chocolate! Suitably refreshed, it was all hands on
deck as the children learned all about making apple juice by getting
stuck in – peeling and then grinding apples to produce the beautiful
sweet juice. After tasting it, all agreed that it was far superior to the
shop bought variety with many looking for second helpings!
During our trip, the children got to meet many animals – cows, horses,
pigs, bulls as well as ducks, rabbits and turkeys. Our very informative
guide was on hand to answer questions as well as being a fountain of
knowledge on all things agricultural.
The final part of the trip was a real highlight – a ride on a trailor around
the farm!
Die Farben der Schule
Voller Spannung betrat die 3. Klasse der deutschsprachigen Abteilung
das Gebäude der Sekundaria. Ziel waren die beiden Flure des ersten
und zweiten Stockwerkes, wir wollten uns dort die Farben der Wände
ansehen. Ein knalliges Rot und ein ganz intensives Blau starrten uns
entgegen. Es war ein besonderes Erlebnis durch diese Gänge hindurchzugehen.
Zurück in der Primaria durchquerten wir hier die einzelnen Stockwerke.
Im Erdgeschoss war alles in Lila, im ersten Stock alles in Orange und
ganz oben alles in Grün. Jetzt kannten wir die „Farben unserer Schule“.
Doch um das Thema „Schulgebäude“ noch genauer zu bearbeiten,
schauten wir die Fassade an und stellten fest, eine Reihe mit länglichen
Klinkersteinen wechselt sich mit einer Reihe eher quadratischen Klinkersteinen ab.
Im Klassenzimmer gingen wir mit Wasserfarben unser Bild an. Wir malten Streifen in den Schulfarben, schnitten einen Kreis aus und klebten
diesen in Teile auf. Diese Teile verdrehten wir so, dass uns die Farben
richtig schön „verwirbelten“. Am Ende umrahmten wir noch alles mit Fassadensteinen.
Viel Spaß beim Betrachten!
Kunstwoche
Das Thema für unsere Kunstausstellung war „Spinnen“. Die Kinder überlegten, was die Spinnen fressen, wie sie ihre Netze bauen, was sie im
Herbst tun, .... Nachdem wir Spinnen angesehen, gesucht und gefunden
haben, sie gemalt und geknetet haben, so wurden nun große Spinnen
auf Pfeifenreinigern gebastelt. Diese setzten wir auf selbst „gewebte“
Spinnennetze aus Wolle. Anschließend suchten die Kinder Verstecke,
wohin sich die Spinnen verkriechen und auf die Lauer legen konnten. Zudem wurden noch große Spinnennetze im Stuhlkreis gewebt und als Dekoration an die Fenster geklebt.
Die MAT De 2 begriff die Art-week mehr unter dem „wahren“ künstlerischen Aspekt. Hier wurde die Methode des Marmorierens kennengelernt: Die Kinder mischten Farbpigmente mit Öl zusammen und machten
hiermit verschiedene Experimente (z.B. Beobachtungen zur Dichte von
Öl und Wasser).
Für die Ausstellungsstücke wurden die selbstgemischten Ölfarben auf
eine Wasseroberfläche geträufelt und auf diese dann ganz sachte kleine
Papierquadrate aufgesetzt, die nur die öligen Farbtupfer aufsaugen. Diese wurden zum Trocknen aufgehängt und in dieser Form ausgestellt.
Man kann die Besonderheit natürlich nur erkennen, wenn man ganz nahe herangeht: "Sieht irgendwie kosmisch aus, wie viele kleine Planeten"
sagte eine Besucherin der Ausstellung.
Les règles d’or
Dès le mois de septembre , nous avons réalisé des affiches afin d’illustrer les règles de vie qui nous semblaient importantes à l’école (les cinq
règles d’or).
Nous nous sommes réunis afin de mettre en commun nos idées et
présentés nos travaux aux autres élèves de P1.
Notre directrice, Mme Ivanauskienne , était présente elle nous a remerciés pour notre travail . Nos affiches sont à présents exposées dans le
couloir.
Promenade dans le parc de Laeken
Nous ramassons des feuilles, des marrons, des pommes de pin lors de
notre promenade dans le parc de Laeken.
Nous observons les changements de la nature lors de l'automne.
Trommel- Workshop und Trommelkonzert
An die Trommeln, fertig, los!
Alle Kinder hatten sehr viel Freude an unserem diesjährigen TrommelWorkshop, der leider mal wieder viel zu kurz war! Es wurden musikalische Geschichten erzählt, afrikanische Lieder begleitet und die
schönsten Rhythmen getrommelt.
Am Ende der Woche gab es ein Konzert in der großen Sporthalle mit allen Kindern der gesamten Schule und die Eltern waren auch eingeladen!
Die Farben der Schule
Die ersten Klassen hatten im Rahmen der Kunstwoche das Thema
"Baum" gewählt. Dabei kooperierte die deutschsprachige A-Klasse von
Andrea KINSCHEL mit der bulgarischen Klasse von Natalia STAYKOVA
und die B-Klasse von Elisabeth BAUER mit der französischsprachigen D
-Klasse von Fabio SOOPEN.
Auf den Bildern sieht man die Bäume im Herbst der A-Klasse sowie die
im Abendrot der B-Klasse. Der fast lebensgroße einzelne Baum bei welchem jedes Blatt in mühevoller Detailarbeit von vielen Kindern bemalt
und ausgeschnitten wurde, ist das Ergebnis der tollen europäischen
Teamarbeit.
Allen Kindern war es Herausforderung und Freunde zugleich.
OPENING SCHOOL
Op 24 oktober werd onze school officieel geopend. Miles mocht de koning en de koningin en vele belangrijke genodigden toespreken. Hij was
zenuwachtig, maar sprak met klare stem! De koningin kwam in klas 1 en
2. Ze kwam niet naar de 2de verdieping.
Ze verkoos op het gelijkvloers te blijven. Dat vonden klas 4 en 5 erg spijtig. Alle leerlingen zongen een lied op de trappen. Het was een kippenvelmoment!! In de klas aten we taart en vierden we ook de opening. Onze sectie telt nu 100 kinderen. Dat mag ook gevierd worden,niet??
Maternelle Ne
Maternelle Ne op schoolreis naar de dierentuin; na ons bezoek hebben
we heel veel geleerd over wilde dieren en hun omgevin g. Natuurlijk zijn
we daarna ook druk gaan knutselen over dieren; wat een leuk thema was
dit!!
Kennenlernen der neuen Schule in Laeken und der
Umgebung
Im September 2012 begann ein neues Schuljahr in einer neuen Schule:
Nach víelen Jahren der Planung zog die Europäische Schule Brüssel IV
von der Rue Berkendael in Forest in den Sint Anna’s Drève nach Laeken.
Wie es nach einem Umzug so ist, begannen wir erst einmal, auszupacken und die Klassenräume einzurichten. Soweit es möglich war, durften
die Kinder mitbestimmen, was wo aufgestellt werden sollte ... und sogar
beim Aufbau der Möbel haben die Kinder mitgeholfen!
Nachdem wir
uns in den Klassen schnell sehr wohl fühlten, sollte auch der Rest der
Schule entdeckt werden und wir besuchten auf unseren Streifzügen u.a.
die anderen Maternelle-Klassen, die Kantine, die Großküche –natürlich
bevor sie in Betreib genommen wurde!- die Krankenschwerstern und die
Gebäude der Administration.
Alles war sehr aufregend und wir haben festgestellt, um wie viel unsere
Schule größer geworden ist, als die vorherige in Berkendael!
Ausflüge zum Atomium und in die umliegenden Parks
Anschließend mussten wir natürlich unsere Umgebung erkunden und kennenlernen. Hierzu boten sich Spaziergänge in die umliegenden Parks und zum nahe gelegenen Atomium
an. Die meisten Ausflüge machten beide deutschsprachigen Klassen zusammen, wie Sie auf diesen Fotos sehen können.
Der Park direkt neben unserer Schule hat einen sehr
schönen Spielplatz, den wir hoffentlich noch öfter aufsuchen werden! Hier können die Kinder so richtig Toben und Spielen, Bauen und Klettern!
Carotte Cantine!
Dès le début de l’année scolaire, nous avons planché sur les règles
d’or et chacune des classes a réalisé une ou plusieurs affiches pour
bien se comporter dans les différents lieux de l’école.
Le travail de la classe de P1FRd a porté sur le respect des règles de
vie de la cantine afin que les repas soient des moments agréables pour
tous. Nous l’avons exposé tout naturellement à la cantine.
PLANCKENDAEL
Naar goede gewoonte maakten we in het begin van het schooljaar een
uitstap met de Nederlandstalige sectie.
We gingen opnieuw naar Plankendael omdat we vorig jaar niet alle
continenten bezocht hadden.
Het was weer een heel leuke dag. We leerden elkaar beter kennen en
natuurlijk zagen we veel dieren die we nog nooit gezien hadden. Er
was ook touwenparcours door de bomen. Natuurlijk durfden we dat !!
Het bezoek aan het nieuwe olifantenverblijf was het hoogtepunt. Kai
Mook is met zijn hele familie naar Plankendael overgebracht.
Inauguration
In der Woche nach dem Trommel- Workshop war das große Fest der
Schuleinweihung! Der „Chef von Europa“, Herr Barosso und sogar der
König und die Königin von Belgien hatten sich angemeldet! Alle Kinder
und Lehrerinnen waren sehr aufgeregt, denn erst in der letzten Minute
hatte die Maternelle die Information erhalten, dass uns die Hohen Herrschaften tatsächlich in der „Singing Maternelle“ besuchen wollten!
Schnell wurde also ein Lied – das englische Lied „The leaves on the
trees turn orange and brown“- eingeübt und alle Kinder haben es am
24.Oktober wunderbar laut und deutlich gesungen! Ein großes Lob an
alle!
Nachdem das königliche Paar schon keine Kronen aufhatte, mussten
unsere Kinder dies natürlich nachholen und sich selbst welche basteln!
Cap Science P3!
This term's DDM topic in P3 is Water and Recycling.
We were lucky enough to be able to participate in some very engaging
workshops across the whole of P3. Run in our classrooms by the
CapScience animateurs, each class had a full day of fashioning and making a range of percussion and tuned musical instruments out of natural
materials found in the Belgian forests.
The children made rain sticks, instruments that emulated the sound of
frogs and whistles and among other things. They learned how to work these natural materials with tools and how to use these tools safely. At the
end of the day every class met in the playground to form one big orchestra
with each class playing a particular group of instruments.
Conducted with great passion while accompanied by some Mozart piano
music, the children played well together and made a wonderful sound!
Journée danse et percussions
Afin de connaitre davantage de nouveaux instruments, une troupe venue
d’Afrique est venue à l’école. Nous avons dansé et appris à utiliser un
djambé.
Puis, le lendemain, nous avons fait un grand concert avec tous les enfants et les parents ! Depuis ce jour, nous écoutons régulièrement cette
musique en classe et nous continuons à danser.
Journée à la ferme (P1frc)
La classe de Monsieur Benjamin est partie à la ferme afin de rendre visite
aux animaux et d’en connaitre davantage sur le fonctionnement d’une
ferme.
Nous y avons appris comment nourrir et traire les vaches, mais aussi
comment s’occuper des animaux sans les déranger.
En revenant en classe, nous avons fabriqué des cartes d’identité qui correspondaient à chacun des animaux vus lors de cette journée. N’hésitez
pas à venir les voir dans notre classe !
Fêté Halloween!
Cette dernière semaine du mois d'octobre fut bien chargée car nous
avons reçu le roi et la reine de Belgique à l'école puis nous avons fêté
Halloween!
Nous avons décoré la couverture de notre cahier d'écriture en faisant
rouler des billes sur une feuille avec de la peinture! Nous nous sommes
beaucoup entrainés pour l'inauguration de l'école.
Nous avons fêté l'anniversaire d'Adriana.
Nous avons célébré Halloween: nous avons fabriqué une sorcière en
citrouille et nous avons fabriqué une tête de sorcière avec une galette de
riz, des légumes et du curcuma pour les joues! Pour le dessert, nous
nous sommes maquillés avec du chocolat que nous avons ensuite
mangé!
Nous avons chanté la chanson d’Halloween (ci-jointe). Les grands ont
écouté l'histoire de Cric-Crac les yeux bandés en touchant des aliments
qu'ils prenaient pour des objets de l'histoire racontée.
De leur côté, les plus jeunes fabriquaient un masque de Jack o'lantern.
Enfin, les plus grands sont allés récolter des friandises en allant frapper
aux portes des classes et en demandant "trick or treat?"
Rene Margritte workshop
The children were excited when they walked into a very strange bedroom
to find out how Rene Margritte came up with his painting ideas.
The children were able to see Margritte's very strange idea's come to life when a bird made out of clouds flew above their heads! 4th photo is of the
children's work of re-creating a Rene Margritte picture.
The children were very engaged when they were given the task of producing day and night in the same picture. As you can see the finished picture
is amazing!

Rainbow 1&2 Have A Visit From Picasso
As part of our project on ‘The Wonderful Parts of Me’ we invited the children to explore their faces and the features they had that were special to
them. The children drew themselves and dramatized the feature that
pleased them most with collage materials.
In addition we looked at the Cubist paintings of Pablo Picasso portraits.
He rejected the idea that art should copy nature or be realistic. He
wanted to emphasize the flatness of the paper or canvas he was working
on.
HALLOWEEN
Dit feest vieren we ook altijd met de hele sectie. Dit jaar waren we wel met
erg veel.
Gelukkig hielp klas 3 ons mee om soep te maken. Dit jaar dus voor 100
kindern en juffen pompoensoep maken. Aardappelen schillen, wortels
schrapen, uien snijden en dan de pompoen !! We hadden ook nog ons geheim flesje !! Het maakt de soep overheerlijk. Iedere grote chef heeft zo
zijn geheimen, dus wij ook!!
Alle kinderen slurpten de soep tot op de bodem leeg. Iedereen was mooi
gekleed en de mama van Chloé kwam ons schminken. Weer een reuzeleuke dag !!
Wij deden een mode show waarin wij onszelf voorstelden. We speelden
spelletjes, deden een spannende stoelendans en dansten op hip-hop
muziek.
Semaine de l’Art
Pendant l semaine de l’Art nous avons travaillé sur le Land Art . Nous
avons vus des œuvres de Andy Goldsworthy . Puis nous avons eu envie
d’essayer de créer des installations comme cet artiste ; alors nous nous
sommes rendus dans le parc à côté de notre école .
Nos réalisations s’appellent « le volcan », « le sport des animaux » « le
soleil » « la fleur » « le ballon » « le hibou » « l’escargot »…
Königlicher Besuch in der P1 DEa
Am Tag der Schuleinweihung hatte die Klasse P1 DEa die Ehre in ihrem
Klassenraum Königin Paola von Belgien begrüßen zu dürfen.
So wurde in den Tagen davor eifrig gesungen, gezeichnet und geprobt.
Die Aufregung war groß, bevor der hohe Besuch die Klasse betrat. Die
Kinder hießen die Königin herzlich willkommen, sangen ein Lied und
überreichten ihr schließlich selbstgemalte Bilder unserer neuen Schule.
Dieses besondere Erlebnis wird uns bestimmt lange in Erinnerung
bleiben!
Trommelzauber
Am 15./16. Oktober fanden für alle Schüler/innen des Kindergartens
und der Grundschule Trommel-Workshops statt. Durchgeführt wurden
diese vom Trommelzauber-Team, das dafür mit mehr als 1100 kleinen
Djemben im Gepäck nach Brüssel anreiste. Bei den Workshops wurde gemeinsam getrommelt, gesungen und getanzt und so mancher
„Ohrwurm“ ist nach wie vor in den Klassen zu hören. Den Abschluss
bildete am Dienstag Nachmittag ein Trommelkonzert, bei dem viele
interessierte Eltern den Klängen und Rhythmen lauschten.

The children really enjoyed entering the world of the Djembe Drums!
It was a great experience for the children to be involved in something
on such a big scale.
All the the children enjoyed learning the different sounds of the Djembe Drum and learning a traditional dance and song.

La semaine de l’art (P1frc – p1ENb)
Pour la semaine de l’art, nous avons séparé les classes de Monsieur
Benjamin et Madame Emily en deux afin de permettre à chacun de se
faire de nouveaux amis et d’enrichir sa langue 2.
Dans la classe de Monsieur Benjamin, les enfants ont peint des tableaux
en suivant l’inspiration de Miro sur le thème de l’arbre. Il y avait deux versions ; la nuit et le jour. Il fallait donc faire attention aux couleurs utilisées !
La classe de Madame Emily a travaillé sur la création d’arbres en papier.

NOTRE VISITE AU JARDIN DU FLEURISTE
Au Jardin du fleuriste, j’ai vu de très anciennes serres. Il y avait aussi
un arbuste avec de petites baies mauves, un étang avec des nénuphars et des grenouilles. J’ai vu un labyrinthe très bien taillé et avec un
feuillage doré.

Mercredi 14 novembre, on est allé avec la classe au Jardin du fleuriste.
Il y avait des feuilles de toutes sortes et de plein de couleurs : rouge
foncé, jaune, vert clair ou foncé, brun. Il y avait des étangs et des nénuphars. Au milieu du jardin, on trouve des buissons avec des ouvertures
de différentes formes. A un moment, on a trouvé un petit labyrinthe
dans un coin du jardin.

Anglophone Book Week. Visit of Steve Smallman!
As part of the Anglophone Book Week we had a visit from the author
Steve Smallman.
Big on ideas, the children were enraptured by his fantastic story telling
skills and blown away by his amazing artistic talent.
He treated us all to a visual and auditory extravaganza, and the children were especially delighted by his ability to capture human emotions through drawing in a fun and imagnative way.
Steve really captured the children's imagination by bringing the stories
to life, and we are sure that he has inspired many into becoming budding authors and illustrators themselves!

European Hours!
On September 21st, we began our European Hours class, with some of
the students in P4 taking part in Adventure Initiative Games!
For our opening session we used 'magic floating islands' (which looked
suspiciously like paper plates) to perform a 'Space Walk' with the entire
group. No easy task though as it involved everybody helping each other
as we went on our adventure and required all of the students to work as a
team before we were able to complete it!
Now after such a great start to European Hours, we can't wait to see
what the rest of the year has in store!
Der neue Kalender 2013 ist da!
Zwei Klassen der Europäischen Stunden des fünften Jahrgangs haben
wie „richtige Maler“ mit Farbe auf Leinwänden gemalt. Zuerst wählten sie
in Partnerarbeit einen Künstler aus, beschäftigten sich zunächst mit seinen Werken, und seiner Biographie, um sich dann mit seiner Malweise
vertraut zu machen.
Gerhard Richter, ein Maler aus Deutschland, lässt seine Farben ineinander fließen, indem er mit einem langen Spatel quer über die auf die Leinwand aufgetragene Farbe zieht. Bei Derain, einem französischen Maler,
erkennt man jeden Pinselstrich. So haben die Kinder im Stil von Richter,
Derain, Oldenburg, Appel und anderen europäischen Künstlern eigene
Werke entstehen lassen, die nun in diesem Kalender ein ganzes Jahr lang
zu bewundern sind.
SCHULWECHSEL – TRANSITION – LESEN,
VORLESEN, ZUHÖREN, ZUSAMMEN SEIN.......
Die deutschsprachige Abteilung beteiligt sich am Vorlesetag!
Dass Vorlesen und gemeinsam Lesen wunderbare Erlebnisse sein können,
erfuhren die einzelnen Klassen der deutschsprachigen Abteilung am Vorlesetag.
Die „Leseprofis“, soll heißen die Jahrgangsstufen drei bis fünf, machten
sich auf, um in ihren Partnergruppen zusammen mit anderen Kinder zu lesen oder ihnen vorzulesen.
Schnell entstand eine wunderbare Leseatmosphäre, die von allen Schüler/
innen, Kindergartenkindern und Lehrerinnen genossen wurde. Märchen,
Kinderbücher und andere anregende Literatur kamen zum Einsatz. Man
saß auf dem Boden, in der Leseecke, auf dem Sofa...überall machte das
Lesen viel Spaß!
Sinterklaasfeest
Wij hebben ons goed voorbereid op het Sinterklaasfeest.
We schreven een brief aan Sinterklaas, we deden Pieten gymnastiek met
juf Kris en kregen daarvoor een Pieten diploma. We bakten kruidnootjes en
verpakten die in een kleurige, zelfgemaakte koekjeszak. We zetten onze
schoen en de Rommel Piet deed er een chocolade letter in. Op Sinterklaasdag moesten we allemaal bij Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet komen en we
deden een dansje op het lied de ´Pepernotensamba´.
En als klapper op de vuurpijl kregen we allemaal een kadootje van de Sint:
de jongens een lego vliegtuig en de meisjes een doos met strijkkralen. We
hebben heel erg genoten van deze spannende tijd.

Marvellous Mathletics!
We have had very active participation in Mathletics this term.
Children have been piling on the points as they complete tasks given by
the teachers, but also by battling it out with children from around the
world! Certificates have been obtained and Avatars have been adorned
with the spoils of the mighty efforts of our multi-talented mathematicians.
There are also children in the section who are worthy of note as they
managed to either find themselves on the Top 100 in Europe or, amazingly, the top 100 in the World!
These children include Alexandra, Emmet and Robert, to name but a
few from P4Ena, and I am certain there are others too!
The screen shots you see to your left are, I am sure, just a mere
sample of the tremendous talent that we have here at EEBIV.
Let’s see how many top spots we can get next term!
KUNSTWEEK
Naar jaarlijkse gewoonte hadden we ook nu onze kunstweek. De vierde
klas werkte rond Mondriaan. Ieder kind kreeg een kader van 20x20 en
maakte zijn eigen ontwerp. Nadien werden alle werken samengevoegd
tot één kunstwerk. Het leek gewoon een echte Mondriaan. De vijfde klas
maakte gewoon een andere Mona Lisa. Een moderne versie. Samen maakten we nog bosmonsters en aluminium mannetjes. De resultaten
mochten gezien worden. Alles werd tentoongesteld in de polyvalente
zaal.
Alle ouders mochten komen kijken. Het werd een succes.
European Hours Fashion Show !
Durant cette première période, les enfants ont pu donner libre cours à
leur imagination en cousant, découpant, collant, détournant des vêtements et chaussures qu'ils avaient apportés. Le fashion show du vendredi 7 décembre leur a permis de présenter à leur camarades leurs réalisations les plus sages ou les plus folles.
Pour Nikola, Stefan, Tom et Alex, "It was so cool, we liked it because we
could invent,create our own tee shirts.
D'autres enfants ont adoré apprendre à coudre, à faire des scoubidous, à
décorer leurs chaussures, mais ont eu très peur durant le défilé de mode.
"Het was leuk, maar eerst was ik een beetje zenuachtig. Nu gaat het .
Meuvr. Aubard is heel lief. De modeshow was super-leuk en grappig!!"

Maths Day!
The children from Primary 3, 4 and 5 and from all of the language
sections took part in another cross language section maths challenge!
Each year group organised events whereby the children could engage
in stimulating maths challenges.
The children showed great determination and perseverance and proved
themselves worthy of the tasks that had been set. The children will take
part in more, cross language maths activities throughout the year!
Art Auction!
Set against the backdrop of the amazing Art Exhibition, in our new Salle
Polyvalante, children from P5 organised and ran their own Art Auction!
Selling the work they have produced in class, as part of their European
Hours activities, the children managed to raise a significant amount of
money to go to charity; specifically to pay for children in Uganda to go to
school.
The parents were greeted and then welcomed by the wonderfully talented
European Hours choir, and then the P5 children paraded their works to
the audience. A multi-lingual welcome then followed, representing the different European languages in the classes. The children spoke clearly and
well, and made all of the invited parents feel most welcome.
Our auction master then performed her task brilliantly as she swiftly went
from one sale to another. She was aided by her assistants, who ensured
that the correct details were noted so that the buyer received the correct
piece of art that they had asked for!
The bidding by the parents was an exciting process and it was wonderful
to see that all of the works of art were sold. The children were happy to
donate their work to charity and we would like to thank them, and their
parents for their generosity.
After the auction was over, the children were presented with their own
copy of the European Hours Calendar, within which they could find some
of their own hard work! Our Deputy Director said a few words, and then
the auction was closed by an enthusiastic round of applause for the children for all their hard work.

Art week in P4 – Working in the style of Mondrian
Throughout Art week, students all over the school were busy creating
wonderful works of Art. All students in P4 were introduced to the work of
Pete Mondrian, famous for creating works composed of parallel black lines and blocks of primary colour. The students worked in mixed groups,
composed of children from all language sections.
Firstly, we looked at samples of Mondrian’s work and then used what we
had discovered to try to create our own pieces in a similar style. The students found that this was more challenging than they initially thought, as
they were required to draw straight, parallel lines in which they could place primary colour blocks. Despite the challenges this posed, all students
created their own examples of Mondrian-inspired artwork.
The second stage of the project involved students transferring their design on to canvas, ensuring they used straight black parallel lines. The
students were able to paint their blocks of primary colour in acrylic paint
to give a strong, bold finish to the pieces.
Once all the work was completed and dried, the works were mounted on
wood to create large panels, which resemble a large unified work. It was
interesting to see how students working in different groups had interpreted the task, bringing their own unique perspective to the task. The students were all very proud of their creations and enjoyed showing off their
skills to all the parents who visited the exhibition.
We will look forward to seeing these masterpieces displayed in the Primary building, so that we can enjoy them on a daily basis.

Mit einer ersten Kunstausstellung haben die Schülerinnen und Schüler
ihre neue Schule und vor allen Dingen den sogenannten
„Mehrzweckraum“ und den „Gemeinschaftsraum“ des Kindergartens für
sich erobert.
Ihre Kunstwerke konnten sich sehen lassen! Mit viel Fantasie und Detailarbeit haben sie sich mit unterschiedlichen Stilrichtungen der
Kunstgeschichte auseinandergesetzt.
Wie würde Leonarda da Vinci wohl heute seine Mona Lisa gemalt haben?
Da gab es einige Ideen und witzige Varianten, die zu bestaunen waren.
So konnten die Kinder ihre Eltern mit Stolz durch diese Ausstellung
führen.
... Und wer weiß ... vielleicht steckt ja hinter irgendeinem Bild ein zukünftiger Picasso?
In einigen Klassen wurde sogar der „europäische Gedanke“ umgesetzt:
die Klassen wurden für die einzelnen Projekte mit verschiedenen Nationalitäten gemischt.
Den krönenden Abschluss bildete die Ausstellung der „Kunstwerke“ im
Salle Polyvalent, wo sie von vielen Eltern bestaunt werden konnten.

Der Friedensnobelpreis des Jahres 2012 geht an die Europäische Union
Es ist der 12. Oktober 2012. 1200 Kinder stehen auf den Treppen der Europäischen Schule Brüssel IV. Gemeinsam bereiten sie sich mit dem Lied
„Wir wollen ein einig Europa“ auf die bevorstehende Einweihungsfeier,
bei der das belgische Königspaar und José Manuel Durão Barroso anwesend sein werden, vor.
Eine Stunde später erfahren wir, dass genau zu diesem Zeitpunkt der Europäischen Union der Friedensnobelpreis zugesprochen wird.
Der Leiter des norwegischen Nobelkomitees, Thorbjörn Jagland, begründete diese Entscheidung damit, dass die EU in den vergangenen sechs
Jahrzehnten entscheidend zur friedlichen Entwicklung in Europa beigetragen habe.
Hierbei spielt das Konzept der Europäischen Schulen eine wichtige und
tragende Rolle. Mit ihrem Bildungsauftrag begleiten sie junge Europäer in
die Demokratie und sorgen dafür, dass unter einem Dach die Vielfalt mit
dem gebührenden Respekt gegenüber der Unterschiedlichkeit eine Einheit wird.
Wir freuen uns über diesen Preis, weil er auch „unseren Schülern und
Schülerinnen“
gehört, die sich täglich mit kultureller und sprachlicher Vielfalt konstruktiv
auseinandersetzen.
So singen sie an diesem Tag „ganz zufällig“ zur Komposition von Charpentier in sechs Sprachen: Wir wollen ein einig Europa, Frieden und Freiheit und Glück für jedermann, wir wollen ein einig Europa und bauen gerne mit daran!
Ist das nun wirklich ein Zufall?
Un laboratorio straordinario!
Ieri, a scuola, sono venuti dei signori che ci hanno insegnato a fare degli
strumenti musicali con le piante.
Il primo è stato uno strumento chiamato albero della pioggia, abbiamo
piantato dei chiodi a spirale intorno ad un pezzo di bambù, ci abbiamo
messo un po’ di semola e l’abbiamo tappato con un tappo di sughero e
così abbiamo costruito ognuno il nostro albero della pioggia. Mi è piaciuto tantissimo piantare i chiodi col martello, anche se dopo avevo le dita
tutte nere!
Il secondo animatore ci ha fatto vedere come nascono i suoni e i diversi
modi per produrli, era molto interessante e anche divertente osservare
come la sabbia si muoveva a seconda delle vibrazioni del suono.
Un altro strumento si faceva con un piccolo ramo di nocciolo e una
foglia inserita in mezzo al ramo, una volta terminato faceva il suono di
una trombetta ed era molto divertente, faceva il solletico alle labbra.
In seguito abbiamo costruito uno strumento doppio, da una parte si grattava con una lima, che poi, sfregato con un bastoncino, faceva il suono
della rana, mentre in mezzo si soffiava e potevamo suonare canzoni.
Infatti abbiamo fatto una gara a chi riconosceva le canzoni suonate dai
compagni e ci siamo riusciti.
Nel pomeriggio abbiamo costruito ancora degli strumenti: il tica-tica, con
un bastoncino pungente e uno spillo, uno scaccia pensieri con un guscio
di noce, uno stuzzicadenti e un elastico, e infine un’ocarina con la terra
cotta.
Alla fine abbiamo fatto un concerto insieme ai bambini delle classi
francesi per realizzare il sogno di uno degli animatori che voleva diventare direttore d’orchestra, e ci siamo divertiti un mondo!

SINTERKLAAS OP SCHOOL!
Op 5 december was het alweer zover. Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet kwamen op bezoek.
Vorige week was Zwarte Piet al op school geweest en hij had veel rommel gemaakt in de klassen. We hadden natuurlijk ook onze schoen gezet.
We kregen elk een prachtig cadeau en dan nog een klascadeau. We
zullen dus wel heel braaf geweest zijn. Net zoals bij de opening van de
school zongen we met de hele school op de trappen. Het klonk weer
prachtig. De Sint en de Zwarte Pieten bezochten de kleuters. Nadien
mocht de Nederlandse sectie op bezoek. Wij zongen een lied en dansten.
Natuurlijk ging hij langs bij alle andere kinderen, zelfs bij de directie.
Zouden die ook braaf geweest zijn?? De Sint zei dat er dit jaar geen
stoute kinderen waren !
Bezoek Koninklijk Paleis
In de week voor de officiële opening van onze school gingen wij een kijkje
nemen bij het Koninklijk Paleis. Veel kinderen waren blij verrast te ontdekken dat de Koning en Koningin bijna onze buren zijn. We maakten
een praatje met de politieman aan de poort, maar helaas was het niet
mogelijk bij de Koning en Koningin op bezoek te gaan.
We mochten wel een foto nemen voor het hek.
Weihnachtsvorbereitung in der Klasse P5
Dieses Jahr haben die Kinder ihren Weihnachtskalender selbst gestaltet.
Mit viel Fantasie wurden die einzelnen Nummern der 24 Schachteln mit
weihnachtlichen Motiven umgarnt. Da bekommt die Fünf eine Nikolauszipfelmütze und die 13 einen Sternenhimmel.
Hinter den Zahlen verbergen sich kleine Geschenke und spannende
Weihnachtsgeschichten, die von den Kindern selbst geschrieben wurden.
Nun war jeder gespannt, welche Geschichte hier zum Vorschein kommt. Jeden
Tag wurde eine Erzählung vorgelesen und die Kinder mussten erraten, wer sie
wohl geschrieben hat.
Mina: Ich finde unseren selbst hergestellten Weihnachtskalender viel schöner als
einen gekauften. Außerdem hat sich jeder besonders Mühe gegeben, für ein anderes Kind eine Weihnachtsgeschichte oder ein Gedicht zu schreiben. Ich war
die ganze Zeit neugierig, was in meiner Schachtel ist!
COMPTE-RENDU DE VISITE AU MUSEE DES BEAUX ARTS DE BRUXELLES
Mercredi 28 novembre 2012, les P4 sont allés au Musée des Beaux Arts pour
découvrir certains tableaux et sculptures sur le thème « Démons et merveilles ».
Nos guides nous ont fait repérer des détails terribles dans des œuvres de mythologie comme le satyre blessé par Apollon ou Prométhée enchaîné. Il y avait
aussi un tableau très connu de Pieter Brueghel « chute des anges » dans lequel
il y avait une bataille entre Saint Michel et un dragon à 7 têtes ; c’était terrifiant !
ZIUA NAȚIONALĂ A ROMÂNIEI
Vineri, 30 noiembrie, copiii români ai scolii noastre, au sărbătorit Ziua Naţională a României.
Sărbătoarea a început cu o prezentare a importanței evenimentului
petrecut la 1 Decembrie 1918.
Au continuat elevii clasei a V-a cu versurile poeziei lui Mihai Eminescu
« Ce-ți doresc eu ție dulce Românie ? »
Elevii clasei a VII-a ne-au încântat cu prezentarea power point despre
personalități din România care s-au afirmat în afara granițelor țării.
Pentru a arăta ca nu au uitat sfatul strămoșilor noștri, acela de a pastra și
cultiva limba noastră, copiii din ciclul primar au cântat « Limba româneasca » de Gheorghe Sion.
La sfarșitul spectacolului toți cei prezenți, de la cel mai mic și pâna la cel
mai mare, au dansat „Hora Unirii” pentru a se simți mai aproape de
România.

Création d'une ville imaginaire en terre
Nous avons choisi de créer une ville sous-marine. Il a fallu réfléchir aux
éléments qui la constituaient: des maisons, des habitants, des monuments, des lieux pour se détendre, des moyens de transport, etc.
Ensuite, nous les avons dessinés et enfin, nous avons réalisé les
modèles en terre.
LATERNENFEST der deutschsprachigen
Schon traditionell findet das Laternenfest der deutschsprachigen Abteilung an unserer Schule statt. Wochen vorher werden eifrig Laternen
gebastelt, Lieder oder ein
Martins-Rap gelernt, ein beeindruckender
Lichtertanz einstudiert und die St. Martins-Legende geprobt, damit die
Eltern gemeinsam mit ihren Kindern und deren Lehrerinnen einen
besinnlichen Abend in stimmungsvoller Atmosphäre erleben können.
Wie in jedem Jahr nahmen auch die Kinder der zweiten Sprache Deutsch
daran teil, um hautnah einen landeskundlichen Beitrag zu erfahren.
Den
krönenden
Abschluss
bildete
wieder
die
Ausgabe
eines
„Weckmanns“ für jedes Kind. Die Kinder sollen lernen, diese Legende in
die Tat umsetzen, indem sie den „Weckmann“ auch mit ihrer Familie,
Freunden oder anderen Menschen TEILEN, so wie es der „Heilige Martin“ symbolisch mit seinem warmen Mantel getan hat.
Ein herzlicher Dank gilt allen Elternvertretern für die Mithilfe beim Gelingen dieses wunderbaren Festes!
MOBILE KÜCHE
Der deutschsprachigen Sektion..jetzt können wir in der Schule auch
noch Suppe kochenoder andere leckere Köstlichkeiten zubereiten!
Alle Küchenutensilien befinden sich nun im 2. Stock im Raum neben
Frau Neckermanns Klassenraum.
Es gibt insgesamt zweimal zwei Herdplatten, Geschirr, Kisten auf
Rädern, Spülwannen und vieles mehr…
Wir können gespannt sein, was wohl als erstes zubereitet wird!

Катеричката Кики тъкмо се събуди. Гледа през прозорчето си и се
чуди.
Когато погледна навън, гората бе бяла също като сън.

Zirkus!
Kurz nach unserer St. Martinsfeier mit allen Kindern der deutschsprachigen Sektion, den Eltern und Geschwistern, besuchten wir den
Zirkus „Bouglione“. Wir konnten zu Fuß zu der Vorstellung gehen, da
der Zrikus genau in dem Park zwischen unserer Schule und dem
Atomium gastiert! Also zogen alle Kinder der Maternelle zusammen in
einem lange Treck durch den Park zu der Vorstellung, in der sehr viele Kunststücke mit Pferden, Trampeltieren, Hunden und ... nein, leider
keinen Pumas oder Elefanten gezeigt wurden! Dabei hatten wir doch
bei unserem Ausflug zum Atomium die Käfige mit einem Puma gesehen! Vielleicht mussten sich die wilden Tiere ja für die Abendvorstellung ausruhen.
UN’ ESPERIENZA DA “ADULTI”:
L’ELEZIONE DEI NOSTRI RAPPRESENTANTI DI CLASSE
Tutti gli anni, a partire dalla terza elementare, abbiamo fatto le elezioni
dei rappresentanti. Questa è una cosa tipica della Scuola Europea: molti
di noi hanno frequentato qualche anno di scuola in Italia e sappiamo che
lì ci sono solo i rappresentanti dei genitori. Nelle Scuole Europee, invece,
ci sono due tipi di rappresentanti: il primo sono i genitori che si occupano
della cassa e di organizzarsi meglio con la maestra, il secondo sono i
bambini che si occupano di dire le loro idee per migliorare la scuola e
cercare di metterle in pratica. Di solito avvengono a inizio anno scolastico, tra ottobre e novembre, perché così c’è più tempo per mettere in pratica le idee.
In terza,con il maestro Valter, abbiamo scritto la nostre idee su un cartellone, le abbiamo lette ai compagni e loro hanno votato una persona e abbiamo continuato finché non è rimasto solo un candidato; chi ogni volta
aveva meno voti perdeva.
In quarta, con la maestra Antonella, abbiamo appeso i cartelloni al muro
e scelto di votare in base alle idee e alle decorazioni. Si potevano votare
due persone, e chi ha avuto più voti è diventato il rappresentante e il secondo più votato ha avuto il ruolo di supplente per sostituire il primo se
questo era malato e non poteva andare alla riunione.
Quest’anno invece, sempre con la maestra Antonella, abbiamo appeso
alla lavagna i cartelloni decorati e con su scritte le proprie idee e ogni
candidato a turno spiegava queste idee facendo una specie di comizio.
Visto che Nima non c’era, ma si era candidato e aveva fatto il cartellone,
la maestra ha chiesto a Greta di fare il comizio al posto suo e lei l’ha fatto
volentieri. Per i voti è stata la stessa cosa dell’ anno scorso. Così come si
fa per le elezioni dei “grandi”, il voto è segreto e quindi abbiamo messo i
bigliettini piegati dentro una scatola. La maestra subito dopo ha fatto lo
spoglio e andava mettendo i voti su una tabella che noi vedevamo sulla
smartboard.
Quest’anno Marta è diventata la nostra rappresentante e la sua sostituta
sarà Angela. Marta ha meritato di vincere perché il suo comizio è stato
divertente.
Le elezioni dei rappresentanti avvengono per far partecipare gli alunni al
miglioramento della scuola, ovviamente con l’aiuto dei maestri, ma di solito si fanno le cose in base alle idee dei bambini. I bambini eletti/scelti
dai compagni devono riunirsi più o meno una volta al mese per parlare
ed esprimere le proprie idee al maestro Valter che quest’anno aiuterà i
rappresentanti di terza, quarta e quinta di tutte le sezioni a mettere in pratica le loro idee.
L’anno scorso i rappresentanti sono stati Alice D. e Nima e ci hanno sempre detto che è stata una bella esperienza che si è conclusa a fine anno
scolastico con “la festa dell’Amicizia”: tutti quanti abbiamo fatto insieme
dei giochi divertenti.
Vedremo le novità di quest’anno!

P4 Christmas Performance!
On Monday 17th December, P4 put on a performance to be proud of!
The children practiced and rehearsed carefully to ensure we gave the
parents a truly European Christmas experience.
Both teachers and children worked in harmony to put together a wonderful start to the Christams concerts in the school. From the multilingual opening welcome to the candlelit ending, the children proudly performed in front of a packed hall of parents.
The Anglophone section started off the show was with their poetic choral reading of “Twas the Night before Christmas,” which was followed
by the combined efforts of the Italian and German section singing
“Weihnacht kommt bald.” The children played their instruments well
and created a really beautiful atmopshere.
Then the pupils of Fra got the party started with their rendition of “Le
petit renne au nez rouge.” This was quickly followed by the Russian
folk tune, “Noel russe” which was delivered by the pupils of Frc with
gusto. “Le manage” was sung by the children of Frb and ended with a
gymnastic christmas message at the end!
“Vrede op Aarde” was the Dutch section’s offering, and was greeted by
a thoroughly deserved warm applause. It was then back over to the
French section as the children of Frd sang a hearwarming version of
“Noel de bergers,” a Bourguignon classic. The Romanian children gave us a lovely christmas song entitled, “Sculați gazde nu dormiți!”
We wanted to ensure that all language groups were represented and
this was achieved throughout the concert but also in the finale of Silent
Night, which spanned verses from our three vehicular languages to
Romanian, Bulgarian, Italian and even Irish! The candlelit rendition of
this christmas classic really tried to capture the spirit of the European
Schools; encapsulating harmony, cooperation and mutuall respect.
The programme for the concert, illustrated by Alexandra Vanbergen
from P4Ena, also raised money for our school playground. Many
thanks to all who purchased one as the money will hopefully make a
big difference to the children in the school!
Many thanks to all the staff and children for making the event such a
huge success. Finally, many thanks to you, the parents for being such
a great audience and for supporting the concert so well; we hope you
enjoyed the breakfast afterwards!

Nikolaus
Dieses Jahr besuchte uns der Nikolaus in der Maternelle in Begleitung von gleich zwei „Swarten Piets“! Unser Sankt Nikolaus hat wie
immer in seiner sehr gelassenen Art auf seinem Stuhl gesessen und
die Kinder brachten ihm ihre Lieder dar.
Sie konnten sogar einige Fragen stellen, so zum Beispiel wo der Nikolaus denn im Sommer wohnt und was der Nikolaus tut, wenn der
Swarte Piet mal krank ist. Auch die Unsicherheit, wenn der Heilige
Mann einmal wegen Krankheit ausfallen sollte, konnte den Kindern
genommen werden: Der Nikolaus hält sich wohl das ganze Jahr
über in Spanien auf, sodass er sich in der Wärme dort gesund halten kann.
Außerdem bekommt er immer zwei Flaschen „Himmelstrank“ mit,
wenn er zu den Kindern kommt, sodass er trotz der vielen Arbeit
gesund bleibt.
Die fleißigen Helfer des Nikolaus‘ hatten in den Klassen der Maternelle leckere Spekulatius, Aufkleber und einige Beobachtungen
über die Kinder, aufgeschrieben ein einem goldenen Buch, hinterlassen.
Er hatte über alle Kinder Gutes und zum Teil auch einige Verbesserungsvorschläge niedergeschrieben. Mal sehen, ob die Kinder diese

Verkleden als Sint en Piet in Maternelle NE; wat was het dit jaar
weer een geweldig feest.
De rommelpiet die langs kwam, de pakjespiet met zijn fopcadeautjes, de piet die de suikerklontjes en de wortels voor het paard op
ging eten....wat hebben de kinderen gelachen. Het hoogtepunt was
natuurlijk het bezoek van de Sint en de Pieten op 5 december. Tot
volgend jaar!
Geschichtsunterricht mit Zeitzeugen
Zu Gast bei der Ständigen Vertretung des Landes Hessen: Die
Klassen P4 DE und P5DE begegnen Jutta Fleck und anderen
Zeitzeugen.
Am Mittwoch, den 21. November 2012 waren die Klassen P4 und P5
in der Ständigen Vertretung des Landes Hessen. Dort waren wir mit
Jutta Fleck verabredet. Sie hatte drei Zeitzeugen bei sich: Rocco Holler, Kerstin Kuzia und Manfred Migdal. Alle drei haben ihre Jugend in
einem Kinderheim in der DDR verbracht.
In so einem Kinderheim war es sehr, sehr streng. Wenn man nicht tat,
was die Erzieher sagten, dann musste man in eine Dunkelzelle. Das
war ein kleiner Raum, der ganz dunkel war. Dort war nichts als ein
Bett aus Stein, ein Eimer und eine Decke. Es waren keine Fenster
dort. Es war sehr schlimm.
Das Schlimmste für Kerstin Kuzia war, als ein Erzieher gesagt hat,
dass sie sich ganz nackt ausziehen soll und dann nackt den Flur herunter laufen soll.
Genau wie die Zeitzeugen hat Jutta Fleck unsere Fragen beantwortet.
Auch sie war ein Opfer der DDR-Regierung. Sie wollte – wie viele andere (ungefähr 5 000 000 Menschen) aus der DDR in die BRD, doch
man nahm sie fest und ihre Kinder kamen in ein Heim. Später demonstrierte sie am Checkpoint Charly mit Plakaten und bekam nach einiger Zeit beide Kinder zurück. Bestimmt auch, weil sie sich nicht einschüchtern ließ.
Es war spannend und interessant. Es gab ein Heft mit den Namen
und den Geschichten der Zeitzeugen, da haben sie für uns alle unterschrieben. Das war ein besonderer Ausflug und es war gut, mal zu
verstehen, was in der DDR früher für Unrecht geschehen ist.
Als der Besuch in der ständigen Vertretung des Landes Hessen zu
Ende war, hatten wir nur noch Sport.
Ein Bericht von Kindern der Klasse P4 DE
Student Council
Students Council is a group of elected pupils who meet regularly to
represent the ideas and opinions of all the pupils within the school.
They aim to work alongside other members of the school community
to maintain and improve their school environment helping to make it
the kind of school where everyone's opinion is important, where
everyone is happy, secure and thriving.
The aims of the Students Council are:
To offer pupils the opportunity to express their views, their opinions
and their wishes
To give pupils a chance to make changes for the better in our school
To empower pupils to take more responsibility in the school
To help make our school a better place to learn, live and play
To create better communication tools (Student News)
To provide an opportunity for everyone to take part in developing
school routines and values
To discuss ideas and think of possible solutions
To have an input in decision making
The new Students Council has already met three times: the first to learn and discuss about the program of the year. The main aim will be
promotion of positive relationships among all students during recreation and playtime.
Last week, on the occasion of the Nobel Prize for Peace to the European Union, there were two extraordinary meetings, together with representatives of Secondary students.
There was a discussion between all participants on the meaning and
value of the European dimension, on the need for continuous constructive attitude of peace in our relationships with others and how to
activate the strategies for positive solution of conflicts among students.
Each class has discussed and then prepared the proposals which were later included on the European flag, displayed during the Christmas
concerts.
Was bedeutet für euch Europa?
Wie können wir gemeinschaftlich Konflikte friedlich bewältigen?
Dies waren die beiden zentralen Fragestellungen, mit denen sich die
Schülerinnen und Schüler unserer Schule im Rahmen der Verleihung
des Friedensnobelpreises auseinandersetzten.
Innerhalb der Klassengemeinschaft wurde diskutiert und mit Rollenspielen erprobt, wie wir Konfliktfällen konstruktiv begegnen können.
Die Schüler sammelten hierzu klare Aussagen, die sie am Ende der
Woche durch ihre Klassenvertreter einem Plenum, bestehend aus
den Klassensprechern der Primar- und Sekundarstufe, vorgestellt haben.
Im Rahmen der Vergabe des Nobelpreises an die Europäische Union
fand in der EEB4 eine
Woche des Friedensnobelpreises 2012 mit folgenden Projekte statt:
Versammlung der Klassensprecher P3 bis S3 um 14h00 am Montag
während der Feier in Oslo.
„Friedensarbeit beginnt bei uns!“
Team-building Aktivitäten und Konfliktlösung mit Hilfe der AntiBullying Politik der Schule (Arbeit in der Klasse) - Präsentation der
Ergebnisse auf einer Europafahne während den Weihnachtskonzerten am 17. Und 18. Dezember.

P1 Christmas concert!
On the very last Monday of school this year, P1 performed for the parents in their Christmas Concert. The concert was a mix of singing,
dancing, acting, playing instruments and inspirational performances
from all children.
The concert was opened by a heartwarming performance from the
maternelle and P1 Italian classes. They sung ‘É LA NOTTE DI NATALE’ as a united chorus that captured everyone’s attention. Next,
P1FRb and the P1 Bulgarian class brought the stage to life with their
high energy traditional Bulgarian Dance. They were also beautifully
dressed in some traditional Bulgarian clothes.
Following the dance was the P1 German classes who performed
‘DER WEIHNACHTSMANN HAT SCHNUPFEN’. Not only did they
sing beautifully, but they had some children performing the song, some children playing instruments and everyone doing actions along
with the lyrics.
P1FRa performed 2 songs, ‘CALME COOL’ and ‘CHUT! PLUS DE
BRUIT...’ for the parents. They included some lovely movement and
used their voices excellently with no backing music needed. The two
P1EN classes combined to perform two dazzling numbers,
‘ROCKING AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE’ and ‘I’M A LITTLE
STAR’. Both classes showed great energy in their singing and dancing on stage.
After the English classes were finished, P1FRc performed a graceful
dance ‘PRÉPARATIONS POUR LA FÊTE DE NOËL’. Their dancing
was sweet and in time, and they even used pretend snow and other
props to make the Christmas feeling come alive for the parents. The
Romanian children from all of the classes combined to sing ‘DOMN,
DOMN SĂ-NĂLȚĂM!’ just before P1FR came on to close the show
with their bright version of ‘VIVE LE VENT’.
Congratulations to P1 for doing an excellent job of their Christmas
show. The dances and performances were commendable and the
singing was the perfect way to lift everyone’s Christmas spirit in time
for the last week of school.
Everyone should be very proud of their efforts, including and especially the teachers and organisers!
The Tree of Peace
This year's P3 Christmas Concert was called "The Tree of Peace."
Taking inspiration from the recent award of the Nobel Prize for Peace to
the European Union, the children from all P3 classes performed a range
of songs and dances inspired by the theme. Each child had decorated
an individual Christmas Tree decoration with a message of peace and
the Peace Tree was on display in the Salle Polyvalente while we performed.
The performance concluded with everyone singing Mon Beau Sapin (O
Christmas Tree) in 6 different languages.
Rencontre avec un auteur belge
Durant le mois de décembre, les enfants de P1 ont eu l’occasion de
rencontrer un auteur pour enfants belge. Il s’appelle Jean-Luc Englebert.
Pendant plus d’une heure, chaque classe a pu poser des questions à
l’artiste sur la vie d’auteur. Les enfants ont aussi appris le processus de
création d’un livre. C’était très impressionnant de voir toutes les étapes
par lesquelles un écrivain passe avant de publier un livre. Saviez-vous
qu’avant de rendre un livre, l’auteur et l’illustrateur pouvaient recommencer plusieurs fois un croquis avant de le colorier ?
Ce fut une rencontre inoubliable, et chacun a reçu un poster souvenir
pour sa classe !
Visite de Saint Nicolas en P1
Saint Nicolas est venu visiter nos classes de P1 avec son acolyte Père
Fouettard. Ils nous ont distribué des chocolats et la classe de Monsieur
Benjamin lui a chanté une chanson et donné des lettres.
Après cela, nous avons célébrer une petite fête en son honneur !
C’était génial !
Le concert de Noël
Pour notre concert de Noël, la classe de Monsieur Benjamin avait
préparé une danse sur une chanson d’Enya.
Nous voulions symboliser les différents objets importants à la fête de
Noël tels que le gui, la lumière ou encore les cloches.
Chacun a son tour, nous présentions aux spectateurs différents objets, le tout sur une musique rythmée rappelant les sonorités de Noël.
Nous espérons que notre spectacle vous a plu !
La magica atmosfera del Natale!
Da giorni a scuola si respira un’aria diversa: è la magica atmosfera
del Natale! Noi bambini, in questo periodo, abbiamo un gran da fare e
tra l’arrivo a scuola di Saint Nicolas, la canzone da imparare per il
concerto e tanti altri preparativi, ci stavamo dimenticando di quella
simpatica vecchina che ogni anno rende felici tutti i bambini. Sì stiamo
parlando della Befana, la dolce nonnina che nella notte tra il 5 e il 6
gennaio, a cavallo di una scopa, entra nelle case e riempie di dolciumi
e carbone (zuccherato!) le calze dei bambini.
Ops, ma solo le calze dei bambini italiani! Proviamo a presentarla ai
nostri compagni francesi, tedeschi, inglesi e bulgari? Sììììì… E cosi’
questa mattina, al suono di “La Befana Trullallà” siamo andati nelle
classi prime accompagnati da una simpatica Befana. I nostri compagni sono rimasti sbalorditi alla vista di questa simpatica nonnina e
sono stati molto felici quando la Befana ha lasciato loro delle caramelle e pensate un po’ anche una sua fotografia (di quando era più giovane!!). Siamo contenti che i compagni di altri Paesi abbiano conosciuto la nostra simpatica Befana.
Noi bambini italiani dobbiamo aspettare ancora qualche giorno con la
speranza che anche quest’anno la dolce nonnina ci accontenti, riempiendo di dolciumi e di magici sogni le nostre calze.. e allora Buona
Epifania a tutti!!
