THE CITY», VIBRATIONS GARANTIES!
Pour la 19e fois déjà, le Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO)
anime votre été dans la capitale avec le programme Summer in
the City. Avec une farandole d’événements comme des concerts,
expositions, festivals de musique, marchés, fêtes populaires...
Summer in the City transforme trottoirs et places publiques
en hauts lieux de la culture festive en plein air et attire chaque
année des centaines de milliers de spectateurs.
Fruit d’une collaboration étroite et amicale entre les acteurs
culturels et touristiques de la capitale, Summer in the City offre
ainsi une animation éclectique et pétillante à Luxembourg. En tant
que Destination Management Organisation officielle de la ville de
Luxembourg et organisateur culturel dynamique, le LCTO contribue tout au long de l’année à l’attractivité et à la convivialité de la
capitale ainsi qu’à son développement touristico-culturel durable.

Neunzehn Jahre heiße Rhythmen und volles Programm an lauen
Sommerabenden, das ist das Sommerprogramm Summer in the
City, das vom Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) organisiert
wird! Freilichtkonzerte, Musikfestivals von internationalem Format, Straßenkunst und Theater, Ausstellungen, Märkte, Feste und
touristische Attraktionen verwandeln Bürgersteige und Plätze zu
Kultevent-Hochburgen unter freiem Himmel! Das Programm ist eine echte Institution und vereint Kulturschaffende, Touristiker und
Eventorganisatoren der Hauptstadt. Jedes Jahr kommen Hunderttausende von Besuchern in die Stadt!
Als offizielle Destination Management Organisation der Stadt Luxemburg
und Kulturorganisator der Hauptstadt setzt sich das LCTO das ganze
Jahr über für die Attraktivität Luxemburgs und deren touristische und
kulturelle Vermarktung ein.

SUMMER 2016: "SUMMER IN THE CITY" –
URBAN SPIRIT, GUARANTEED FEEL-GOOD
FACTOR!
The Summer in the City programme organised by the Luxembourg
City Tourist Office (LCTO) celebrates nineteen years! It offers a series
of summer events which turns pavements and public squares into
open-air stages of cultural festivities!
The events are mostly free of charge: open-air concerts, huge urban
music festivals with international artists, street theatre and street art,
outdoor cinema, exhibitions, markets, feasts and tourist attractions.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors enjoy the programme
and plunge into the summer spirit.
All Summer in the City events are the result of close and friendly
collaboration between the various actors in the capital and various
private and institutional partners. As the official Destination Management Organisation of the city of Luxembourg and a cultural main
player, the LCTO enhances throughout the year the attractiveness
and vitality of the capital and its tourism and cultural development.

KNUEDLER GOES CLASSIC - AFRICA
L’artiste béninoise Angélique Kidjo chantera des extraits de son
album «Sings», accompagnée d’une cinquantaine de musiciens
sous la direction de Gast Waltzing. Le 15 février, cette production a
remporté le Grammy Award dans la catégorie du meilleur album
de musique du monde à Los Angeles, maintenant le concert sera
pour la première fois produit en plein air.
Angélique Kidjo aus Benin interpretiert Auszüge aus ihrem Album
«Sings» zusammen mit fünfzig Musikern unter der Leitung von Gast
Waltzing. Am 15. Februar hat diese Produktion den Grammy Award
in der Kategorie «Bestes World Music Album» in Los Angeles gewonnen, nun wird das Konzert zum ersten Mal im Freien aufgeführt.

Pour célébrer son histoire, Luxembourg met les petits plats dans
les grands à l'occasion de la veille de la Fête Nationale. Retraite
aux flambeaux, gigantesques feux d’artifice illuminant la capitale,
concerts en plein air, DJ et nuit blanche dans les cafés réuniront
comme chaque année des dizaines de milliers de personnes dans
les rues de Luxembourg.
Am Vorabend des Nationalfeiertages spielt die Hauptstadt komplett
verrückt! Eine Fackelparade, ein gigantisches Feuerwerk, das den
Himmel über Luxemburg leuchten lässt, Freiluftkonzerte, DJs und
schlaflose Nächte in den Bars und Cafés. Zehntausende Menschen
zieht dieser Abend mit seiner einzigartigen Atmosphäre jedes Jahr
ins Stadtzentrum!
The eve of the national day, the city of Luxembourg is turned on its
head: a torchlight parade, a massive fireworks display that lights up
the night sky, open-air concerts, DJs and bar extensions in pubs and
cafés. Thousands of people each year celebrate in the city centre
in a great atmosphere.

musicale sur place. La navette Pétrusse Express circule entre la Kinnekswiss et l'aire de jeux "Bâteau Pirate" de 10h00 à 18h00. Gratuit.
Über hundert Ateliers und teils ungewöhnliche Spiele, die Geschicklichkeit, Tastsinn, Gehör und genaues Hinsehen erfordern, werden kleine
und große Besucher zum Mitmachen verleiten. Imbissstände und Musik vor Ort. Das Züglein Pétrusse Express fährt zwischen der Kinneswiss

Le jour de la Fête Nationale Luxembourgeoise donnera lieu aux
manifestations officielles, à une grande fête de jeux pour enfants
et à plusieurs concerts.
Der Luxemburgische Nationalfeiertag ist der Tag der offiziellen
Feierlichkeiten, mit einem gigantischen Kinderspielfest und vielen
verschiedenen Konzerten.
On the same day, the National Day is dedicated to official events,
a celebration of children's games and various evening concerts.

Tout au long de l’été, quelque 200 concerts en plein air animent le
kiosque de la place d’Armes. Fanfares, harmonies, ensembles jazz,
big bands et musiques ambiantes vous invitent à vous attarder sur
les terrasses accueillantes du salon de la ville. Tous les mercredis,
des concerts classiques et de musique ambiante ont lieu à 12h00
tandis que les vendredis, des concerts de jazz sont proposés à 12h00.
Der Place d’Armes bietet während des Sommers über 200 Freiluftkonzerte mit Harmonien, Fanfaren, Big Bands, Jazz, oder auch

Le festival de rock urbain en plein air «Rock um Knuedler» est un
pilier incontournable de la scène rock et pop luxembourgeoise
et de la culture festive en plein air depuis 26 ans. Cette année,
17 groupes de rock se disputeront l’attention des spectateurs sur trois
scènes en plein air. La tête d’affiche annoncée est Marlon Roudette.
Avec «When The Beat Drops Out”, «New Age» et «Anti Hero», Marlon
Roudette a signé des titres majeurs du 21e siècle. Le chanteur londonien est devenu célèbre en tant qu’ancien membre du duo Mattafix
et grâce au hit «Big City Life». Depuis 2011, Marlon Roudette a fondé
son propre groupe et a enregistré de grands succès avec les albums
«Matter Fixed» et «Electric Soul».

Chaque année, ce marathon rassemble des milliers d'amateurs
de musique éclectique, de convivialité et de bonne ambiance
distillée dans les quartiers pittoresques de Grund et de Clausen.
Une cinquantaine de concerts jazz et blues auront lieu dans 19 cafés
et restaurants participants ainsi que sur 8 scènes en plein air nichées
dans les coulisses spectaculaires de la ville-forteresse classée
par l'UNESCO... La mise en scène est unique au monde et attire
à la fois un public transrégional et des musiciens de renommée internationale. Une navette de bus gratuite relie le centre-ville et Clausen.

Ein weiterer Schlüssel des Erfolges ist die spektakuläre Kulisse der
Festung vor der die Konzerte stattfinden – umgeben von schroffen
Felswänden, mit Blick auf das im magischen Licht erstrahlende
UNESCO-Welterbe der Bock-Kasematten. Ein gratis Bus-Pendeldienst
verbindet das Stadtzentrum mit Clausen.
Every summer, the famous Blues'n Jazz Rallye attracts thousands
of eclectic music lovers in a friendly atmosphere in the picturesque
neighbourhoods of Clausen and the Grund. Fifty concerts of all
possible varieties of blues and jazz will set 8 outdoor stages and
19 cafes and restaurants on fire! Another key to the festival’s success: the spectacular scenes of the city fortress in front of which the
concerts are held. Nestled at the bottom of the town at the foot of
the ramparts rocky outcrops are lit up, with views of the UNESCOclassified Bock Casemates... the setting is unique in the world! A free
shuttle bus will connect the city centre (Boulevard Roosevelt, Centre
Aldringen, Glacis) and Clausen.

Suite au grand succès populaire des dernières années, le «City Open
Air Cinema with Orange», présenté par la Cinémathèque de la Ville
de Luxembourg avec le soutien de Utopia S.A. (part of Kinepolis
group), s’installe à nouveau sur le parvis devant le Palais grand-ducal,
en plein cœur du centre-ville. Un cinéma au clair de lune qui sera
«plus grand que nature»: un écran géant, plus que 500 places et une
atmosphère conviviale pour des nuits étoilées pleines d’émotions
et de sensations fortes. L’Open Air prendra également place dans
le cadre charmant de la cour intérieure du Théâtre des Capucins
et, pour la première fois en 2016, dans la cour des Rotondes.
Le programme se veut varié, divertissant et grand public, proposant
des films classiques ou plus contemporains, ainsi que des films cultes
qui vibrent au diapason de la magie du 7e art à ciel ouvert. Une belle
brochette de films qui présenteront plus de stars que le ciel ne peut
en compter…

Following the great, popular success of last years event, the “City Open
Air Cinema with Orange”, presented by the Cinémathèque de la Ville de

will once again settle on the esplanade in front of the Palace of the
Grand Dukes, in the very heart of the city centre. A bigger-than-life
cinema by the light of the moon: a gigantic screen, more than 500
seats and a convivial atmosphere for starry nights full of emotions and
strong sensations. The Open Air will also be held in the charming inner

Das Straßentheaterfestival Streeta(rt)nimation verwandelt die Stadt
Luxemburg in eine Welt voller Phantasie, Staunen und Lachen. Zwei
Tage lang ist die Fußgängerzone eine Bühne für 70 Straßentheatershows aller Art mit 25 internationalen Künstlertruppen. Einige davon
sind Platzdarstellungen, andere ziehen durch die Stadt und binden
das Publikum mit ein. Straßenkünstler, Pantomimen, Akrobaten und
Zirkusleute, Stelzengänger, Geschichtenerzähler und jede Menge
andere Fantasiegestalten verdrehen euch den Kopf mit viel Humor,
Fantasie und schillernden Kostümen.
The street theatre festival transforms the city centre into an air of fantasy, wonder and laughter. A total of 25 international companies are
touring this year with over 70 free shows. Some shows are static,
others are mobile and can spontaneously contact with the public. With
stilt walkers, acrobats, jugglers, dancers, comedians and jesters, you
will discover a world rich in color and humour.

Le «Yelling Kitchenprince» est acteur, musicien et figure de théâtre
en un, son costume est composé d’ustensiles de cuisine. Sur place,
il vous prépare une crêpe. Le spectacle combine arts du cirque,
théâtre muet et musique.
Der „Yelling Kitchenprince“ ist Schauspieler, Musiker und Theaterfigur
in einem, sein Kostüm besteht aus Küchenutensilien. Vor Ort bereitet er Ihnen einen Crêpe zu. Die Vorstellung kombiniert Zirkuskunst,
stummes Theater und Musik.
”The Yelling Kitchen Prince“ is an actor, musician and theatre
character in one, and his costume is made up of kitchen utensils. He
prepares a pancake for you on the spot. The show combines circus

Körper is a solemn and minimal piece. It is a solipsistic dance, looking at its own means of production: body literalised; body as matter.

FESTIVAL HATE
Le festival Hate commence avec la performance dansée «A Separation» de la compagnie CS&I. Dans cette pièce, lauréate de la
plateforme européenne de danse Aerowaves (Twenty 15) en 2015,
les deux danseurs s'interrogent sur les limites de la tolérance et
dévoilent la haine de manière directe et cruelle. L'artiste luxembourgeois Luc Spada analyse les discours de la haine et se penche sur
les thèmes de l'amour, du sexe et leur relation avec la violence qu'il
concrétise dans cette création.
Das Festival Hate startet mit zwei Veranstaltungen: der Tanzperformance „A Separation“ der Kompanie CS&I über Rassismus. Der zweite Teil des Abends besteht aus einer One-Man-Performance von Luc
Spada. Für diese Kreation hat der Luxemburger Künstler Recherchen

La 16e édition Gare Art Festival innove! Un nouveau matériau est proposé pour la réalisation de sculptures en «live» et en extérieur: l'argile
cellulosique. Six sculpteurs professionnels créeront leurs sculptures
sur la place de Paris à partir du 29.7. jusqu'au 4.8.2016. Cet atelier à ciel
ouvert permettra aux simples passants et aux amateurs d'art d'assister à la magie de la création de celles-ci puisque l'accès en est libre.
Les sculptures seront exposées du 5.8. au 22.9.2016 sous la verrière
de la gare de Luxembourg.

An innovative approach at the 16th edition of Gare Art Festival! Artists
will be using a new material for the ”live“ outdoor creation of sculptures:

La sculpteuse de mode Feyrouz Ashoura questionne notre perception
par rapport à nous-même et par conséquent à l’évolution de notre
nation. Pour son intervention dans la CeCiL’s Box elle met en scène
sa propre perception du Luxembourg à travers sa fameuse technique
de plissage, et laisse le choix au spectateur de voir la situation présente du pays en tant qu’acteur visionnaire ou défaitiste.
Die Modebildhauerin Feyrouz Ashoura stellt die Wahrnehmung unserer selbst und damit der Entwicklung unserer Nation infrage. Für
ihren Beitrag in der CeCiL’s Box inszeniert sie ihre eigene Wahrnehmung Luxemburgs über ihre berühmte Falttechnik und überlässt dem
Betrachter die Wahl, die aktuelle Situation des Landes als visionärer
Akteur oder als Schwarzseher zu erfassen.
The fashion sculptor Feyrouz Ashoura questions our perception of
ourselves and consequently the development of our nation. For her
installation in Cecil’s Box she presents her own perception of Luxembourg through her famous folding technique, and gives the viewer the
choice of seeing the country’s current role as being either visionary
or defeatist.

Le centre d’art contemporain s’est doté d’un nouvel aménagement
intérieur et d’une nouvelle scénographie des expositions. Au rezdechaussée, la BlackBox, un espace de projection de films et vidéos
d’artistes, a été installée pour montrer cet été une série de vidéos
d’artistes luxembourgeois. Dans son exposition «Le gypse», Lara
Almarcegui explore la matérialité et l’enveloppe architecturale du
Casino. Le nouveau café-restaurant, le ca(fé)sino, fait renaître la tradition culinaire du Casino Luxembourg dans un esprit brasserie-chic.

the Musée national d’histoire naturelle (National Museum of Natural
History) is producing a major temporary exhibition on Luxembourgish

Die Kunsthalle für zeitgenössische Kunst zeigt sich nach der Umgestaltung im neuen Gewand und mit einem neuen architektonischen
Konzept. Im Erdgeschoss widmet eine „BlackBox“ ganz der zeitgenössischen Videokunst und zeigt diesen Sommer Videos von luxemburgischen Künstlern. In ihrer Ausstellung „Der Gips“ beschäftigt sich
Lara Almarcegui mit der Beschaffenheit und der architektonischen
Hülle des Casino. Das neue Café-Restaurant, das ca(fé)sino, lässt die
alte kulinarische Tradition des Casino Luxemburg wieder aufleben.

The contemporary art center has a completely new interior design
and exhibition scenography. On the ground floor, a BlackBox devoted
to contemporary video creation and shows this summer a series of
videos by Luxembourg-based artists. In the framework of the exhibition “Gypsum”, Lara Almarcegui explores the Casino’s architecture
and its physical reality. The new café-restaurant, the ca(fé)sino, is
a rebirth of the over-acentenary- old culinary history of the Casino in
a chic brasserie spirit.

La guerre froide au Luxembourg
Cette exposition montre que, entre 1947 et 1991, le contexte international de la guerre froide a aussi marqué le Luxembourg. Le GrandDuché, fermement ancré à l'Ouest, a pris une part importante dans
les alliances internationales qui marquent cette période de tension
entre deux blocs antagonistes: le bloc capitaliste à l'Ouest, mené par
les États-Unis, et le bloc communiste à l'Est qui suivait la politique de
l'Union soviétique. Tout comme dans les autres pays d'Europe occidentale, des moyens financiers et humains importants ont été mobilisés
au Luxembourg pour se préparer à une éventuelle nouvelle guerre.
Des sujets aussi divers que la peur de la guerre atomique, le rôle de
l'armée luxembourgeoise dans l'OTAN, les relations diplomatiques,
mais aussi le rôle des services secrets à Luxembourg sont abordés. À
travers une multitude d'objets et documents d'époque, vous découvrez
quelques aspects que prit le conflit Est-Ouest au Luxembourg.

Diese Ausstellung zeigt, wie sich zwischen 1947 und 1991 der internationale Kontext des Kalten Krieges auch auf Luxemburg auswirkte. Das
fest im Westen verankerte Großherzogtum war maßgeblich an den
internationalen Bündnissen beteiligt, die dem Spannungsverhältnis
zweier entgegenwirkender Blöcke zugrunde lagen: der kapitalistische
Block im Westen unter der Führung der Vereinigten Staaten und der
kommunistische Block im Osten, welcher die Politik der Sowjetunion unterstützte. Ähnlich wie in anderen westeuropäischen Ländern,
wurden in Luxemburg beträchtliche finanzielle und personelle Mittel

zur Verfügung gestellt, um sich auf einen möglichen neuen Krieg
vorzubereiten. Unterschiedliche Themen wie die Angst vor einem
Atomkrieg, die Rolle der luxemburgischen Armee in der NATO, die
diplomatischen Beziehungen und die Aufgaben des Geheimdienstes in Luxemburg werden in der Ausstellung angesprochen. Eine
Vielzahl von Objekten und Dokumenten aus jener Zeit erlauben es,
unterschiedliche Aspekte der Auswirkungen des Ost-West-Konflikts in
Luxemburg zu entdecken. The Cold War in Luxembourg This exhibition illustrates how between 1947 and 1991 the international context of the Cold War also left its marks in Luxembourg.
The Grand Duchy, firmly anchored in the West, played an important
part the international alliances that influenced this time of strained
relationships between two antagonistic blocs: a capitalist bloc in the
west lead by the United States and a communist bloc in the East that
follows the policies of the Soviet Union. Like other western European
countries, Luxembourg mobilizes important financial and human capital in order to prepare for a possible new war. The fear of nuclear
war, the role of the Luxembourg army in NATO, diplomatic relations
and the role secret services played in Luxembourg are only a few of
the broached subjects. Visitors are invited to discover through a multitude of contemporary objects and documents interesting aspects
of the Cold War in Luxembourg. A jukebox, symbol of Americanism,
doors from local bunkers and surveillance tools reminiscent of James

Depuis la fin des années 80, Wim Delvoye (Belgique) s'attache à
déplacer les frontières qui séparent traditionnellement la culture
populaire et l’art, les arts décoratifs et les «beaux-arts», l’ancien et le
contemporain, le noble et l’impur. «En un mot, Wim Delvoye pratique
l’oxymore», écrit Michel Onfray. Les œuvres de Wim Delvoye apparaissent en effet comme traversées par différents contraires, suspendues quelque part entre la séduction et la dissonance.
Seit Ende der 1980-er Jahre geht es Wim Delvoye (Belgien) vor allem
darum, die traditionell bestehenden Grenzen zwischen Popkultur und
Kunst, Kunstgewerbe und bildenden Künsten, Altem und Zeitgenössischem, Reinem und Trivialem zu verschieben. Oder, wie Michel
Onfray es beschreibt: „Mit einem Wort: Wim Delvoye betreibt die Kunst
des Oxymorons.” Seine Werke scheinen von Widersprüchen durchzogen, was sie gleichsam verführerisch und dissonant wirken lässt.

FORTERESSE-HISTOIRE-IDENTITÉS
L’exposition permanente du Musée Dräi Eechelen est présentée dans
les casemates au rez-de-chaussée. Les événements ayant marqué
l’histoire de la forteresse et par extension du pays ainsi que les
personnes qui les ont illustrés sont au centre de l’intérêt. A quelques
exceptions près, elle réunit plus de 600 objets originaux issus de la
collection du Musée national d’histoire et d’art.
Die Dauerausstellung des Museums Dräi Eechelen wird im
Erdgeschoss der Kasematten gezeigt. Ereignisse, die die Geschichte
der Festung und damit des Landes prägten, sowie Menschen, die sie
mitgestalteten, stehen im Mittelpunkt. Bis auf wenige Aufnahmen
versammelt sie über 600 Originalgegenstände aus der Sammlung
des Museums.

Dans le cadre des festivités organisées pour la Fête nationale, la Ville de
Luxembourg invite les familles à une journée de jeux sur la «Kinnekswiss»
(parc municipal longeant l’avenue de la Porte-Neuve). Plus d’une centaine
d’ateliers et de jeux insolites, d’éveil, de manipulation, de toucher, des
jeux sonores, des jeux visuels et de doigté sont proposés aux petits
et grands visiteurs par le CAPEL, Cri-Cri, Festijeux et le «Spillmobil» de
Caritas Jeunes et Familles.

Pendant deux jours, le centre-ville (Place Guillaume II, Place d’Armes,
rues adjacentes) se transformera en grande plaine de jeux pour les
enfants. Le Centre d’Animation pédagogique et de loisirs (CAPEL) de
la Ville de Luxembourg proposera aux enfants de 4 à 14 ans des
grands jeux ainsi qu’une cinquantaine d'ateliers au sujet du thème
«Le jeu crée la force» leur permettant d’exercer leur doigté et leur
créativité et de satisfaire leur tempérament.
Zwei Tage lang wird sich das Stadtzentrum (Place Guillaume II, Place
d’Armes, angrenzende Straßen in der Fußgängerzone) in einen
großen Kinderspielplatz verwandeln. Das Zentrum für pädagogische
Animation und Freizeit (CAPEL) der Stadt Luxemburg bietet den Kindern
zwischen 4 und 14 Jahren große Spiele und circa 50 MitmachAteliers zum Thema „Spielen macht stark“ an. Die Kinder können ihre
Geschicklichkeit testen, ihre Kreativität ausdrücken und nach Lust und
Laune an den verschiedenen Ständen Halt machen.

installé dans le parc municipal de Merl. Les enfants comme les adultes pourront profiter gratuitement des 12 trampolines du lundi au
dimanche entre 12 heures et 20 heures, excepté en cas de pluie.
Während den Sommerferien wird ein Trampolinpark im Stadtpark
Merl aufgebaut. Kinder sowie Erwachsene können sich dann kostenlos auf den 12 Trampolinen austoben und amüsieren, dies von
