Hot on the calendar this quarter was the
launch of the new Genie Superboom SX180.
This amazing machine reaches the highest of
all booms in Africa and belongs to Goscor!
Read all about it on page 15.
Goscor Lift Truck Company employees have
been tied up with a massive move into
their brand new, state-of-the-art building
and the launch of this was no small affair
with Carte Blanche presenter Derek Watts
hosting the function for us! Bobcat spoiled
their customers too at a prestigious launch
of a new skid steer. A few other smaller
functions have also kept Goscor entertaining,
educating and communicating with our
customers which is fantastic!
Our annual client service survey has also
unveiled some good results for the Group –
read more about this on page 7.
It’s been a good quarter for giving back to
the community too! Various events have
raised healthy funds for charities which we
are extremely proud of.
This Globe is jam-packed with news, so I
won’t give it all away.
Take some time out, grab a coffee and read
all about our nationwide family which is
growing at a healthy rate, thanks to each and
every Goscorian.
For those taking a break this festive season,
enjoy the time away - come back rejuvenated,
ready for another exciting and challenging
quarter! For those holding the fort this year
(including myself!), make it count! It’s a great
time to catch up on everything and get your
planning done and dusted for the new year.
Stay safe everyone and have a peaceful new
year.

The aim of this internal newsletter is to act as a central
communication tool for Goscor employees in order for us to
obtain a better understanding of who we are as a company,
what we do and our underlying core values, morals and
standards.
It generally covers some internal aspects, but also focuses
primarily on our products, services, client relationships and
opportunities. It is sent out electronically, and also appears on
the Goscor website.

CORPORATE CLUES
FROM THE CEO
At the time of writing this note, we have little more
than a month to go until we wave goodbye to 2014.
Wow, it’s scary how the year seems to have flown by.
When I look back on 2014, I think you will all agree
that it has been a challenging year in many respects for
Goscor and each one of us. Business is tough out there,
in a South African economy which is battling to show
any growth at all. But, it is in these tough times that our
true character shines through.
It’s in these tough times that we show what Goscor is all
about. It’s in these tough times that we have had to dig
a little deeper, keep positive, and prove that we are the
best at what we do. And as a result, I know that we will
be going into 2015 as a tougher business, as a hungrier
business, and as a better business.
I must thank each and every one of you for
your contribution to Goscor over the last
year. Holidays are around the corner, and
a well deserved break. Enjoy the time with
your families and return fired up for the year
ahead.
Regards
TION

Goscor IT department, now headed up by Gerhard Van
Heerden is rocking these days. A brief summary of
what they have been up to below:
We are excited about our new PBX Telephone system
which will allow us to do the following.
•
•
•
•
•
Receive Voicemails via email
Sync our Active Directory with Phone Directory
Pull reports of all calls
Install App on mobile device to make calls over the
wireless network.
Make video calls with laptops.
We have also upgraded the local network with HP POE
Switches which will help us to create V-Lan’s and spilt the
local network into different segments.
Due to quite a few problems with ADSL connectivity at
Access Rental JHB we have created a line of sight radio
link that connects with the speed of 200 Megabytes per
second from 10 Neutron road to 36 Ossewa Street so
Access Rental are on the same network as Goscor HQ.

articles and document storage and retrieval,
online Globe copies and photo gallery,
the following fantastic new features will

Goscor H/O staff are delighted to finally
have some delicious meals to enjoy during
the day! Based in Chloorkop, the staff are
not privileged to have a McDonalds or KFC
around the corner and have had to settle for
the local petrol station pie or sausage roll to
keep the hunger pains at bay.
Now, the new GosCafe boasts healthy,
hearty and budget-friendly meals and what a
hit they have been! Staff simply swipe their
access cards and are debited at the end of
the month.
Comments:
“GosCafe really must be commended on
the food they make. I love their fruit salad
which is wonderful. It is a pleasure to go
there as the place is clean and the staff are so
pleasant. Thanks, much appreciated.”
“I am so impressed with the food and the
food choices we have been provided with.

September marks the annual Heritage
Month in South Africa. The theme for
the 2014 Heritage Month is ‘Reclaiming,
restoring and celebrating our living heritage’.
Heritage month identifies and uplifts aspects
of South African culture which includes:
creative expression such as arts, music and
performances, our historical inheritance,
language as well as the food we eat. The
Heritage of South Africa also refers to the
people of South Africa and their identification
with certain aspects that are shaped by
historical events. It reminds us about the
importance of our heritage in South Africa in
order to build an inclusive society. Building an
inclusive society in South Africa is marked as
a ‘diverse’ challenge since South Africa is the
home of many cultures, religions, traditions
and ethnicity.
8
It is important that the individuals of
South Africa know about the advantages,
challenges and difficulties of diversity in
order to create an understanding which will
bring forth the inclusive society that we aim
for. Virick and Greer (2012) provide evidence
that understanding diversity and respecting
each other’s differences leads to positive
relationships and productivity. This in turn
will create an inclusive South African society.
Let Neil Wilson’s words inspire us every day:
“bring the best version of who you are to
work every day”. Let’s take it to the next level
and focus on identifying the strengths and
talents in our fellow colleagues. Tell them
and make their day!
Let’s reclaim, restore and
celebrate diversity and respect
each other for who we are.
By the time you read this Doro-ella (Pty) Ltd
would have presented the a Celebrating
Diversity program during the month of
September 2014 and we hope you all
made an effort to attend and enjoy these
informative sessions.

COVER STORY
Goscor Access Rental and Bobcat Equipment Rental, joined forces to provide
an end-to-end lifting equipment solution to meet essential materials
handling duties during the construction of a wind farm in the Western Cape.
Brent Viljoen, Branch Manager of Goscor
Access Rental in the Western Cape said that
by joining forces with Bobcat they could
provide the customer with a complete rental
solution consisting of Telescopic Handlers and
work-at-height machines, qualified operators
and back-up service.
The combined strengths of the two divisions
enabled them to offer the customer an
excellent group deal culminating and
securing the rental contract.
Viljoen explained that they’ve conducted
site visits to familiarise themselves with the
boundaries to which their machines would
be used so that they could offer the best
solution, from equipment rental to highly
trained operators and back-up service.
In terms of the rental equipment specifications, the work-to-height machines had
to lift workers to a maximum height of 26m
while the Teles had to have minimum lifting
capabilities of 4 tons. All the equipment had
to be diesel driven and would have to cope
with traveling over uneven, rough terrain.
Bobcat delivered three Telescopic Handlers
as part of the first laydown requirement and
Goscor Access Rental honoured the second
part with the supply of a number of access
boom lifts.
The rental solution included qualified Goscor
operators who received further training to
ensure that they were fully familiarised with
the units. Parts availability and 24/7 technical
standby service completed the end-to-end
offering.
To save time and improve customer efficiency,
they’ve supplied a diesel bowser on site at no
additional costs so the customer did not have
to refuel daily from a garage in the nearby
town.
Quite a number of key factors contributed
to the customer’s decision to appoint Goscor
as a preferred supplier. “A good customer
relationship is an essential part of any
business undertaking and we built a strong
relationship with our customer during the
negotiation stage.” says Brent
While their equipment stands for itself
as high end products, the challenge is to
bring ongoing expertise and service to the
operation and machinery and this is what
they delivered.
Brent ascribes the seamless operation of the
materials handling equipment at the site to
the collaboration of Goscor Access Rental and
Bobcat Equipment Rental and the partnership
that has been established with the customer.
“The success of this project brings to the fore
the strength and capabilities of the Goscor
Group as a turnkey solutions provider.”

The S450 Compact Loader has been improved in the areas
of performance, robustness, ergonomics and maintenance.
For the first time in this class, large machine comfort and
technology are built into a compact machine boasting
greater operator space, comfort and control.
The S450 Compact Loader was launched on the 16th of
October 2014 at Bobcat SA’s head office in Johannesburg
and what a grand affair it was. Bobcat went the extra mile
to ensure guests from around the country and world were
treated to a first-class experience as they unveiled the new
beauty.
Gorgeous ‘Cat Women’ emerged out of a smoke
filled machine cab and treated guests to a special
choreographed dance.
Some customers were so impressed (by the machine or the
cat ladies?) that they made a purchase on the spot. The
evening was a great success and the market is thrilled about
the new S450.
THIS LITTLE BOY IS
MAD ABOUT BOBCATS
We recently had an unusual request from a Durban based client who
was trying to build their son a Bobcat Bedroom. Raefe, turning 5 is mad
about Bobcats and often joins his dad at work where he is thrilled to ride
or play on these great machines.
He will one day also become an owner of this particular business that
purchases Bobcats from us. We sent some items down and look forward
to seeing Raefe’s transformed bedroom, and the smile on his face on his
birthday.

Jannie Kruger from Fyndraai farm is Bobcat’s biggest ambassador.
He recently accepted a proposal from Goscor
Marketing to appear in a new advertisement
campaign they were producing.
“The design had been applied using standard
stock photos of farmers,” says Debby Marx
(Goscor Group Marketing Communications
Manager), “but they just didn’t have that
traditional SA farmer look.”
“Jannie was amazing and gave our campaign
a true South African flavour.”
Local is lekker and
that’s the truth!

PARTS & SERVICES | CAMPAIGN
The marketing and parts teams put their
heads together and came up with a fantastic
new campaign to move some old stock.
Andile & Sipho, warehouse pickers at
Bobcat, played set builders for the day and
helped marketing take some great photos for
the new campaign.
NEW SERVICE KITS | REVAMPED
BEFORE
AFTER
A great new Service Kit campaign has
recently been launched giving customers a
30% savings on servicing their Bobcats by
using our service kits.
To go with it, their old service kit
boxes were redesigned and now look
absolutely fabulous.
“We have an amazing brand in our stable,”
says Debby Marx (Group Marketing
Communications Manager), “it deserves to
be punted at every opportunity.”

Approximately two years ago, Renier
Ellis together with representatives from
ArcelorMittal, conducted a site survey at
Newcastle Works to determine the best
solution for the facility’s outdoor cleaning
requirements.
The successful performance of this machine,
according to GCE’s Renier Ellis, motivated
the supply of an additional seven units,
consisting of Scrubbers and Sweepers,
for both indoor and outdoor cleaning
applications at ArcelorMittal’s countrywide
“Following a detailed survey, we had no
hesitation in recommending the Tennant
Sentinel heavy duty power sweeper as
the ideal replacement to the tow-behind
mechanical sweeper broom system being
used at Newcastle,” said Renier Ellis – Key
Accounts Manager - GCE.
Added to its superior sweeping performance
and rugged, compact design, the Sentinel’s
low-cost dust control system is in line with
ArcelorMittal’s strict SHE (safety, health and
environment) principles.
Immediately recognising the numerous
cost-saving and environmental benefits
of the power sweeper, Newcastle Works
detailed the Tennant Sentinel in their Capex
requirement. “Once this was approved,
we received a request for a quote from
ArcelorMittal specifying the Tennant Sentinel
in August 2014.
On receiving our quote, the procurement
manager at Vanderbijlpark requested a
meeting on the same day and the scope of
delivery was finalised two hours later.”
INDUSTRY LEADERS, THOUGHT LEADERS & ALL ROUND PARTNERS
GCE has been playing host and trainer to
a number of cleaning service contractors
in the industry. Wesley Bridges, who is the
Key Account Manager for the portfolio has
been hosting a string of open days/ product
training sessions at the Edenvale offices and
has hosted a group of staff from African
Corporate Cleaning, a specialist cleaning and
hygiene services concern based in Pretoria
and more recently the Servest team for
product training on a range of machines.
Both teams enjoyed an informative, insightful
and very fun day out of the office, learning
12
about important tips and tricks of the right
machines to use for each application. The
groups also received an opportunity to use
the different machines and ask some burning
questions about some of the challenges they
experience on the daily basis.
Alex Theodoridis, National Sales
Manager – GCE also hosted a similar
training session at Future Packaging in
Honeydew.
operations – Klipwerke, Vereeniging Works,
Saldanha Works and the Pretoria Coke and
Chemical plant. GCE will also be providing
certified training to Mittal operators once the
unit is delivered in November 2014.
The GCE team is always on the lookout for
new and innovative equipment to bring to
the market, more so if it will help them tap
into a new market. The Goscor Zooma is no
exception; it is the most compact ride-on
scrubber dryer available on the market today.
The Zooma is manoeuvrable and offers the
user easy access to the smallest and not
so easy to clean spots that other relatively
bigger machines can’t. The Zooma can access
a cleaning path of as little as 51cm with ease.
The Zooma makes a great companion to
anyone wanting to get the hardest of jobs
done right, fast and with ease. These little
machines are not to be taken lightly. They
come standard with up to date technological
innovations. They are productive, resilient
and offer customers great value for money.
They are great for use in supermarkets,
shopping centres, hospitals, canteens,
showrooms, schools and play areas just to
name a few. The Zooma is an all in one, low
cost scrubber with pedestrian operation and
GCE are fast becoming the “showbiz
wonders” of the group. They have
participated in 2 expos this year and they
have not only generated good leads for the
business at these shows but they have also
made some lucrative deals from them.
Back in May 2014 when they participated at
the Totally Concrete Expo which took place at
the Convention Centre in Sandton, Graeme
Kruger, Product Manager for both the Delfin
& Maer brands collected some great leads
from some of the visitors of the show but it
was a chat with fellow exhibitor, Lambsons
Hire, which broke ground for the business
unit. Within a few days of returning from
high productivity.
It did not take Matthew Middleton, Key
Accounts Executive, GCE, very long
to sell his first Zooma, with the first
machine sold to PRASA (Passenger Rail
Agency of South Africa) to maintain
their headquarters in Hatfield, Pretoria.
He is already working on his second sale
with the second machine currently being
tested at The Zone Mall in Rosebank,
Johannesburg.
the show, Graeme had set up a meeting
with the owner and within a week of that
meeting he had successfully made a sale of
R75000 and he was only just getting started.
He continued to work the call and soon had
sales of over R125000 and another R65000
worth on back order for the 1st of November.
This was not a once off scenario as same
can be said about Hilton van Vuuren, Key
Accounts Manager – GCE. At the Electra
Mining Africa expo, Hilton made waves for
the GCE brand with the much anticipated
launch of the Vac-Master, the locally
manufactured vacuum truck distributed by
Goscor Cleaning Equipment.
13
After months of online teasers and previews, Goscor Cleaning
Equipment (GCE) finally revealed the much anticipated Tennant
T17. The launch took place on the 30th October 2014 at GCE’s
offices in Edenvale. The event was attended by key clients and
the GCE team facilitated demonstrations of the machines power
& performance. The launch was an instant hit with a delicious,
sophisticated braai menu on offer and a fully stocked Liquid Chefs
bar to keep the guests well “hydrated”.
“This new high performing, heavy-duty battery ride-on Tennant
T17 scrubber-dryer is another masterpiece in the Tennant stable
and has been specially engineered to tick all the boxes when it
comes to customer requirements,” states National Sales Manager
at GCE, Alex Theodoridis. “Built-in key features address the
fundamentals of productivity, cost saving and safety while
revolutionary ec-H20™ technology reduces the environmental
footprint.”
A significant increase in battery capacity gives the Tennant T17
the largest available battery capacity in its class. In economy mode
and on a single charge, the machine is capable of uninterrupted
cleaning for an eight hour shift. No doubt this new kid on the
block will change the way we clean.
GCE hosted a very successful 3 day sales
conference, held at Shumba Valley Lodge in
Lanseria. It was well attended by the sales
teams from around the country.
A creative theme “Become the rainmaker’
challenged the team to explore new strategies
to penetrate the increasingly competitive
world of cleaning equipment.
On Saturday, the team also sat through an

Improving Relations
Sullair’s primary representatives, Euan
McCulloch, Managing Director and Brian
Turvey, Sales Manager, Sullair – Michigan City
spent some time recently with Goscor KLG’s
management exchanging strategic business
ideas and improving technical support to
clients.
Duane noted that the strategic visit ensures
them as Goscor KLG that Sullair is committed
in meeting all their clients’ needs and in
creating tailored solutions, suited to the
South African Market.
Air for GLTC
GLTC moved to their newly upgraded premises
in Chloorkop and they turned their heads
to Goscor’s own Compressed Air Specialists,
Goscor KLG for all their compressed air
challenges.
Among the many uses of compressed air,
GLTC needed compressed air for:
• re-spraying forklifts
• and for pneumatic tools (grinders,
chipping hammers, nailing guns etc.)
Duane Kruger, Sales Manager, KLG handled
the internal transaction of a Sullair Electrical
Stationary Compressor. KLG carried out a
complete installation of a Sullair WS 1500
compressor, air dryer and piping reticulation
at the GLTC state-of-art premises.

Forklift Deal for BATSA
GLTC has concluded a deal with Imperial
Cargo Solutions (ICS) - which manages
the primary logistics operations for British
American Tobacco South Africa (BATSA) - to
replace a well-known brand of forklifts at
BATSA with Goscor’s Doosan machines. The
total number of Goscor machines that will be
acquired could be as many as 50.
ICS’s Ferdie Baird, Business Manager
for warehouse operations, says that the
programme is running smoothly and
both ICS and BATSA are satisfied with the
performance of the machines and Goscor’s
service. “Goscor have proved their mettle in
this highly competitive industry and when
it came to replacing machines at BATSA we
had no hesitation in using them.”
“Their service is consistently world class, the
Doosan product is world class and, given this
scenario, which is the most important priority
for our clients, we had the added benefit that
Goscor is part of the Imperial group.”
He says that dealing with a company in the
group has significant advantages for both
the customers and the group. “The synergies
between the various companies in the
Imperial group are strong. In the final analysis
we work as a team and this enables us to
give a better service to our customers. And,
of course, if one is giving the best possible
service to the customer, using other group
companies is obviously of benefit to the
group,” Baird says.
He adds that the forklift replacement
plan has already resulted in operating
cost savings for BATSA and expects even
more savings in the medium to long term
Some of the machines that have been
delivered include Doosan 1.8 ton gas forklifts

with tobacco clamps and 2.5 ton gas forklifts
with container entry masts. One of the
unique advantages of the Doosan trucks
is their ‘brakes for life’ promise.
The ‘brakes for life’ system, which made
world headlines when it was introduced
some years ago, is an oil-cooled disc brake
system, which, being totally enclosed,
eliminates all outside contamination of any
humid, abrasive or corrosive dust particles.
The system significantly reduces operating
costs and GLTC offers on it a 60-month,
unlimited hours guarantee.
Frans van der Heever, Regional Sales Manager
says that their promise to ICS is to ensure a
safe, cost-effective and stress free forklift
operation at BATSA with a guaranteed 95%
operational uptime. “With our ‘total service’
philosophy we have no doubt we will fulfil
this commitment.”

Solutions for
South Africa’s leading supply chain and
logistics consultancy, Industrial Logistic
Systems (ILS) has opted for the GLTC range
of warehouse equipment for use at the
House and Home distribution centre (DC)
in Gosforth Park, Germiston. Two of the
machines - Crown TSP 7000 turret trucks
- are fitted with FurniBox® attachments,
which is a first for the South African industry.
Gary Benatar, ILS MD says that the
FurniBoxes®, which were specified by ILS,
reduce the risk of damage to the furniture
because they enable it to be handled to an
absolute minimum in the warehouse. “The
furniture need, in fact, be handled only once
– when it is received at the warehouse. Once
it is securely placed on the FurniBox®, direct
contact with the furniture most often ceases
until it reaches the customer. In this way even
the most sensitive items are moved, stored,
stacked, picked and dispatched safely and
quickly and can also be delivered in complete
consignments – without any risk of damage,”
says Benatar.
GLTC MD Darryl Shafto complimented ILS
on their House & Home solution. “The ILS
solution not only utilises space efficiently but
also helps increase productivity while keeping
the goods protected – all of which are vital
requirements in the furniture business,” says
Shafto.
All in all the deal involved six machines: 2
x Crown TSP 700 turret trucks for furniture
pallets and FurniBox®, 2 x Crown ESR 5300
reach trucks for pallets and 2 x Crown SC
5340 3-wheel electric forklifts for moving
appliances.
Innovative solution
strengthens ties between
Goscor and Imperial Retail
Logistics
GLTC and Imperial Retail Logistics
(IRL) – formerly TFD Network Africa strengthened their ties recently with the
delivery of two Doosan B25S-5 counterbalance electric forklifts each with an
innovative battery exchange system.
This brings the Imperial Retail Logistics to
a total of 45 forklifts bought from GLTC
in the last 36 months.
Leading Dutch industry magazine,
Logistiek Totaal’s renowned journalist,
Theo Egberts, said at the test week of
the International Forklift Truck of the Year
awards earlier this year that “Crown’s
new QuickPick® Remote order-picking
technology will take the market by
storm”.
Crown is distributed in Southern
Africa by Imperial’s GLTC.
“Crown is not exaggerating when they
say that the QuickPick® Remote not
only significantly improves productivity
but also the wellbeing of the operators,”
Egberts says.
Crown’s
QuickPick®
Remote
was
designed
to
deliver
extraordinary
process improvements for order-picking
applications. The question is: what
makes
some
order-picking-processes
more successful than others? Crown has
identified several key factors, but stress the
following fewer process steps, less carrying
and less risk which are all attributes of the
QuickPick® system.
The QuickPick® Remote is a small piece
of equipment that represents huge
innovation from Crown. This will be a lifechanger in many warehouses.
The Quickpick remote control, which literally fits like a glove on the operator’s
hand, will revolutionise warehouse picking.
18
An innovative fork-entry slot system,
developed by GLTC Cape Town’s John
Petrie on both these Doosan machines,
enables an operator to drive a forklift
into the side of the machines, lift the
battery out with the forks and reverse
out quickly and efficiently.
In addition to the latest forklifts, GLTC
have provided a permanent technician
on all three of IRL’s sites - Freedom Way,
Phumelea Park in Montague Gardens and
Radnor Road, Parow. They also provide
full battery and charger maintenance,
leaving IRL to focus on its core business
activities while its forklift operations are
fully managed by GLTC’s efficient staff
on site.
Enterprise Foods Appoints New
Warehouse Equipment Supplier
In an environment where good service is
sometimes difficult to come by, it is not
surprising that many high profile, bluechip companies are turning to GLTC for the
warehouse/logistics management solutions.
GLTC’s renowned products and outstanding
backup service is making a difference and
the latest company to avail itself of these
qualities is none other than Tiger Brands’
Enterprise Foods
Tiger Brands’ Enterprise Foods production
facility in Polokwane has made a decision to
standardise on GLTC product after working
for many years with one of Goscor’s main
competitors.
Enterprise’s Dean Jacobs said that when
it became absolutely clear that something
had to be done, he invited several leading
suppliers, including the then current supplier,
to present their solutions. “Unbelievably, only
Zululand Trade
Fair
Goscor showed up,” he said. ”Needless to
say this vindicated our decision to undertake
the process of finding a new solution. As
it so happens, Goscor offered a very price
competitive solution, underpinned by their
world-renowned product” he added.
The initial order was for 15 machines – 6 x
Pro 5-series Doosan forklifts and 9 x Crown
machines – including 6 WT 3020 pallet trucks
- for various applications in the canning,
receiving, boxing, dispatch and dry store
areas.
GLTC believe that real value is created when
the whole package – pricing, product quality
and service – is not only competitive and of
the highest quality, but that it is delivered on
a consistent basis. That is the heart of GLTC’s
success, and their ability to have delivered
this world-class package consistently for
many years.
Riaan Schrader Deon Jacobs, Johan Mostert,
Pieter Steyn.
The Zululand Trade Fair offered GLTC the ideal platform to showcase their products
and services.
The Fair was not only for economic development and growth in the area but will also
indirectly stimulate the local economy through tourism expenditure as many of the exhibitors
came from areas outside of Richards Bay and made use of local service providers for services
like accommodation, restaurants, etc. and other facilities on the days leading up to the show
and for the duration of the show.

George Landsberg, Managing Director, GHR and his team have taken great strides
in ensuring that they remain industry leaders in the Access Platform industry. GHR
has added another quality brand to its stable, the ATN Platforms range.
The ATN range includes four machines: The
Zebra 12, an articulating boom lift with
superb horizontal reach and high ground
clearance as well as three mast booms under
the PIAF collection.
ATN Platforms is a French manufacturer
of aerial work platforms. Their platforms
are designed with the toughest of jobs in
mind and they are particularly popular with
rental companies who are looking for strong
machines that guarantee results and a long
lifecycle.
The quality and robustness of the materials
used to manufacture the ATN range of
machines guarantees the machines a long
lifespan, even under intense conditions.
The GENIE is out of the
bottle | The Superboom graces the
South African shores in style
Goscor Hi-Reach (GHR) finally took
delivery of the SX-180 a.k.a the
Superboom and they celebrated its
arrival in style in the form of a launch
event in partnership with Goscor Access
Rental who also now could take delivery
of its long awaited beast which they have
purchased from GHR.
“As the official distributor of the wellknown Genie range of equipment in
Southern Africa, we are very pleased
to bring this exciting new lifting
solution to the market,” said George
Landsberg, MD of Goscor Hi-Reach.
The Genie SX-180 is immediately
available to the Southern African market
as a rental option from GAR. The two
business units celebrated the arrival of
this next generation telescopic boom lift
in style, in the form of a cocktail themed
launch event at the GAR premises in
Chloorkop. There is no doubt that GHR
will be bringing in more of these and that
there will be more clients like GAR. Read
more about the event on page 15 in the
GAR business unit section.

All ATN machines come standard with an
on board overload sensor making them the
tough and smart option in any environment.
George is passionate about the Access
Platform industry and he keeps finding
new ways and products to give GHR the
competitive edge.
There is no limit to the value that the GHR
team can bring to the market and ultimately
to its clients.
HYDRALADA FOR
HORTICULTURE
Goscor Hi-Reach MD, George Landsberg
recently undertook a business visit to new
suppliers in New Zealand. The company,
Hydralada is situated in Hastings on North
Island in New Zealand, close to Napier.
During the trip the parties agreed on a
Distribution Agreement for Hi-Reach to
market Hydralada’s products in the South
African market. The trip also included visits
to a number of farming operations in New
Zealand, including a trip to Motiti Island.
Hydralada specializes in access platforms
for horticultural purposes, for example for
picking fruit, pruning trees and general
maintenance in orchard environments.
Typical customers would include avocado,
mango and litchi farming operations.
New Partner in Zambia
PBI a member of the Handyman’s Group of
Companies in Zambia, has taken care of all
technical merchandise from the Handymans’
stores in order to provide a better service in
all directions.
They are proud dealers of top brands
including Makita, Jet, etc. and now of GPP’s
product range as well. PBI caters for the
heavy engineering as well as the building
and road works industry. They are supplying
the Handyman’s Branches in N’dola, Kabwe
and Livingstone and four branches in Lusaka
as well as to other distributors. Their strong
point is their ability to service and repair
the goods they are selling into the Zambian
market. They have technicians, who have
been with the Handyman’s Group for many
years, some of whom have even been trained
in Europe.
“We are extremely excited about this
new partnership,” says Mark Bester (MD,
GPP)
Don’t Be Left In The Dark
When the power goes down, the reliable, efficient and affordable Lutian petrol
generator will not let you down. These competitively priced, low maintenance,
premium brand 2kVA – 6.5 kVA machines are ideal for standby or backup power.
Unlike most generators in this mass market that are fitted with cheaper
aluminium windings, the Lutian ES and EA petrol generator series comes
standard with 100% copper windings; the excellent electricity conduction
properties enhance generator efficiency and extend service life.
GPP is also the exclusive distributor of Lutian water pumps and high pressure
cleaners in South Africa and the SADC region. The Lutian product range has found
wide acceptance in the agricultural industry, enjoying the support of numerous agribusinesses.

Team building
GPP’s staff enjoyed a day of fun and laughter at the Ten Pin Bowling alley. The teams
were very competitive as they are in their business. But none the less everyone walked away
with something and had a lot of fun.

GRC was the forklift rental company of choice
for various materials handling requirements
at two major exhibitions held recently in
Gauteng.
The rental specialist supplied fourteen forklifts
to assist two existing customers with indoor
and outdoor materials handling requirements
during the build-up and breakdown period
at Johannesburg’s NASREC famous mining
expo, Electra Mining Africa in mid-September
2014.
A clearing and forwarding company called
for fifteen machines to take care of various
materials handing requirements during the
Africa Aerospace and Defence Show which
took place at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in
the City of Tshwane at the end of September.
According to Richard Brown (Sales Manager,
GRC), all the machines supplied to the two
shows are the latest Doosan Pro5 series of
diesel powered forklifts ranging in tonnages
from 2.5 to 16 tons. As the equipment was
used by the customers on previous occasions,
operator training was not needed for these
two projects.
Richard said that the orders were secured as a
result of a number of factors that differentiate
GRC as a specialist rental business in this
materials handling market sector.
“We are able to offer a turnkey rental
solution, from flexible rental packages
and high quality, reliable equipment
to exceptional before- and after-sales
services.”
Exhibitions by their very nature requires
handling of extremely diverse equipment in
terms of shape, size, weight, etc. The diversity
of their rental fleet facilitates matching the
right equipment to the right application or
project to enable the end user to get the job
done quickly and easily. GRC’s professional
team is passionate about service excellence
and they believe in building long-lasting
business partnerships with all those they
associate with.
Delivery that shook the nation
GRC handed over a quality fully refurbished Doosan D45s-5 forklift to Goldfields in Bothaville.
On the way back to JHB, Richard Brown, Sales Manager and Elizabeth Holzhausen, Sales Exec
made a quick stop in the little town of Orkney. All of a sudden, the ground started to shake,
windows starting to rattle and masses of people started running outside. They looked at each
other with shock, not sure what was happening. Emergency sirens blared as the electrical
supply to the town of Klerksdorp crashed.
Later they learned that they had just experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8! An
experience of this proportion leaves a sense of respect and appreciation for our very own lives
with a realisation that the forces of nature are indeed very real and have a huge impact on our
lives. Very glad our GRC team are safe!

Golf Day
23 Oct 2014
The chosen beneficiary at the even popular
Goscor Group Charity Golf Challenge this
year was the J.B Matabane Secondary School,
a no-fee paying school in Ivory Park, Tembisa.
Goscor invited key clients and suppliers to a
fun filled day on the greens with the main
order of the day being to raise healthy
financial aid for the local learners whose
school is built on prefabricated material.
barrows, overflowing with expensive drink
items were a hit.
We are pleased to announce that a
staggering R100 000 was raised for J.B
Matabane Secondary School, which will be
used to enhance the learning environment
for the children.
The Goscor Marketing department worked
hard to ensure all holes were sponsored and
that players were treated to fabulous goodie
bags.
The school is in desperate need of bare basics
such as chairs as well as building a science
laboratory. Meetings will commence in the
new year where we will assist in this process
as much as possible.
The day was nothing short of successful.
Following a beautiful day on the greens,
players were entertained by comedian
Michael Naiker as prize giving and further
fund raising took place. Popular wheel
We would like to extend our gratitude to
the sponsors and players who dedicated
their time and money in helping to fulfil the
governments mission ‘making education a
societal priority’.

ISSUE 3: 2014
The GLTC magnificent new head office
building, symbolises a powerful business
success story. Over the last 10 years the
company has worked on the integration of
the different activities of the business into
a cohesive customer service machine. “If
you are on the switchboard, in the parts
division, in sales or you’re the MD, you have
one central focus – the customer. This has
made all the difference,” says GLTC MD
Darryl Shafto, “and our new, state-of-the-art
premises will help us to raise the service bar
even further.”
THE NEW BUILDING
Goscor Lift Truck’s new premises comprise
12 800m² with in excess of 7000m² - mainly
workshop and warehousing space - under
roof. Built as ‘green’ as possible, all lighting
in the buildings is activated by motion sensors
24
and the lighting in the main workshop is
assisted by solar power expecting to provide
an energy consumption saving of about
30%. Two storm-water retention ponds were
created on site and water from these will be
purified and utilised for, among other things,
irrigation and the wash bay significantly
reducing water consumption.
WORKSHOP
Our ratio of maintenance contracts to
technicians is 42:1 when the industry norm
is about 70:1! “We do 90% of our service
work on site,” says MD, Darryl Shafto, “and
while we have all the best equipment, we
realised early on that we needed not only the
right quantity of technicians to provide the
type of service we have become famous for
but that they should also be the best trained
in the industry. ”
This is surely one of the most advanced
workshops for forklifts in Southern Africa.
Our integrated IT system which handles
accounting,
stock
control,
contract
management, equipment management and
cost tracking and parts.
PARTS DEPARTMENT
We have a breakdown and fault reporting
system, which includes a reporting of time
with reference number system.
If an emergency arises, parts are airfreighted
and delivered in 3-5 days from order.
The new parts department currently holds 10
000 part lines to the value of approximately
R14 million and are ordered in container
loads now to reduce costs.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Jordan Gooding son of Crystal Gooding
PA to GLTC KZN Regional Director & KZN
Sales Manager is currently playing U/15B
rugby for Rovers in KZN. On Sunday the
10th of August 2014 it was a very windy day,
the ball was kept close to the forwards and
as flank Jordan had his fair share of action.
Jordan was very prominent in the scrum and
was very effective at the breakdowns. Jordan
dug deep to really help defend and Rovers
were able to come back, the score was 10-10
at full time.
Well done Jordan in a great game and
good luck for the rest of the season!

Both Jan and Jaco Marneweck, Sales

Well done boys!
Darryl Hancock, Regional Sales Manager, GLTC, JHB began his bike
racing career at 3. At 16 he got his Transvaal and SA colours, but lately
he has taken to Freestyle motocross, a bit trickier and a bit riskier. In
picture 1 & 2 Darryl is seen doing a jump called “step up”. This involves
jumping a 90° wall and seeing how high you can go. Picture 3 shows
you him doing a jump they call a “whip” Well done Darryl and keep
on jumping!!!
