Camping Palooza
Jillian Schuck
Grace Hauser
Your soft fingers glide across
the strings of an electric guitar, booming out a hard-core melody. Another
fellow musician to your left jams on
his set of drums. Honestly, how does
the music-packed course Rock Band
not sound like a blast? Of course, the
excitement isn't
the only thing
blasting with joy.
All around the
VIP room where
four amazing superstars practice
their classic rock
songs, such as "The Riff," rest several
speakers that are sure to bring the
sound of your instruments (which
some artists call "ax") to all your fans!
Instructor Joe Wright has kept his four
band members busy rehearsing perfectly in time to the beat on their
drums, keyboards and so much more !
Get ready to rock n' roll in Rock Band!

we're going camping! In the Kaleidoscope course Off to Camp, these campers are having fun outside. They have
been making leaf rubbings, leaf paintings and nature bags. They will collect
sticks to make a tipi and even play
camping bingo! Also, the little campers will make s'mores using the sun as
a microwave oven and put up a tent! If
you're looking for a course full of adventure, come to Off to Camp!
How to make a leaf rubbing:
Step 1: Go on a trip in the woods to find
some leaves.
Step 2: Pick out some colorful crayons
and get some paper.
Step 3: Put the leaf under the paper and
rub the paper with the crayon.
You will now have a colorful leaf rubbing!

The first rule of survival is
to find water. In Extreme Survivor,
these young survivalists are doing
just that. Once they've found water,

young outdoorsmen

Also, they built shelters to survive in

The Triple Threats of Kaleidoscope
Jillian Schuck and Brianna JeanLaurent
Boom, boom, boom! As the
director, Jan Peters, bangs on her
faded wooden drum, the young actors and actresses of Adventure
Theater march around to the low,
tempered beat. Two days into the
production, these triple threats were
growing, shrinking and swaying to
the soft tone of the rain stick. These
energetic drama experts even got a
hand in playing the instruments for
themselves. That's a wrap!

Have you ever wanted to
make recipes from all over the

happens in International Young
Chefs. These artists and cooks

make a craft and a meal from each
country that they study. Some of
the countries include China, Israel,
Italy, India and Mexico. For China,
they made elegant paper fans and
cooked noodles. For India, they
made lassi. For Israel they made
hamsa necklaces and hummus.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
-1 16 oz can of chick peas or garbanzo
beans, reserve 14 cup liquid
-3-5 tablespoons lemon juice
-1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
-2 cloves garlic, crushed
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
Drain chick peas and set aside liquid.
Combine remaining ingredients in
blender or food processor. Add 1/4 of
liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5
minutes on low until mixed and
smooth. Place in serving bowl and create a shallow well in the center of the
hummus. Add olive oil to the well.
Refrigerate for 3 hours. Serve with pita
bread or veggies.
Don't be surprised if these cooks
will open their own gourmet restaurants one day!

these young scientists experimented
with raisins, lemon-lime soda, elbow macaroni, lentils and cups.
They also experimented with peppers, water, dish soap, large bowls
and did lots more experiments. Not
to mention, they also did an experiment with lemon juice, baking
soda, and cups. Eventually, after
they poured the baking soda into

Who goes mad for t-shirts?
We do! The artists in T-Shirt Madness have been decorating t-shirts
in many different ways, such as tiedying and painting with stencils.
We interviewed a few of these fantastic artists to see what their favorite activity was. Amazingly, Maiah,
Hayley, Sadie and Julie all said tiedying! Wow! They also made bags
using stencils and fabric paints.
One day, these designers' t-shirts
will be on runways around the
world!
