EDEN – Fedezze fel Magyarország rejtett kincseit!
Az Európai Bizottság 2006-ban indította útjára a Kiváló Európai Desztinációk
nevű projektjét, amely az európai kontinens természeti, kulturális és szellemi
örökségének sokszínűségét hivatott bemutatni a turisták számára. Az EDEN egy
angol mozaikszó (European Destinations of ExcelleNce), de egyben egy hívogató,
barátságos kifejezés is, eszünkbe juttatva a harmonikus kezdeti állapotot, az invitáló
desztinációt. A pályázat keretében az Európai Unió tagállamaiban évente változó témakörben kiválasztásra kerül nemzetenként egy kiváló desztináció. Az EDEN sikerét jelzi, hogy
míg kezdetben csak 10, 2011-ben már 23 ország szerepel az európai projektben. Magyarország az
indulás éve óta aktív résztvevője a programnak. Eddigi hazai nyerteseink, az Őrség, a Hortobágy, az
Írottkő Natúrpark, a Tisza-tó és a Mecsek sikeres nemzetközi bemutatkozása és a díj elnyerése óta növekvő népszerűsége is azt mutatja, hogy van mire büszkének lennünk.

The Hungarian Garden of EDEN – Our hidden treasures in the heart of Europe
In 2006 the European Committee launched a project titled European Destinations of Excellence and meant to present
the diversity of the European continent’s natural, cultural and intellectual heritage to the tourists. EDEN is an acronym
(European Destinations of ExcelleNce) and simultaneously represents a friendly invitation and destination that reminds
everyone of the primordial harmony of the world. In the framework of the tender, an excellent destination is chosen in
each EU member state regarding a specific subject altered in every year. The success of EDEN is shown by the increase of
the number of participating countries, from the initial 10 to 23 countries in 2011. Hungary has actively participated from
the very beginning. The successful presentation to the international audience and the growing popularity of the winners
chosen during the recent years (i.e. Őrség, Hortobágy, Írottkő Nature Park, the Tisza Lake and the Mecsek Mountains) since
the winning of the Award have confirmed that we have good reasons to be proud of these regions.

Die Europäische Kommission hat 2006 das Pilotprojekt Herausragende europäische Reiseziele auf den Weg ge­setzt, dessen Ziel die Vorstellung der Vielseitigkeit des Natur-, Kultur- und geistigen Erbes des europäischen Kontinents für Touristen ist. EDEN ist ein Akronym (European Destinations of ExcelleNce), ist jedoch gleichzeitig ein lockender, freund­licher
Ausdruck, von dem uns der anfängliche, harmonische Zustand, das invitierende Reiseziel einfällt. Im Rahmen der Ausschreibung wird in den Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union jährlich in verschiedenen Themen ein ­herausragendes
Reiseziel von jeder Nation ausgewählt. Den Erfolg von EDEN zeigt, dass anfangs nur 10, 2011 bereits 23 Länder am europäischen Projekt teilnahmen. Ungarn ist seit dem Startjahr ein aktiver Teilnehmer des Programms. Die erfolgreiche
internationale Vorstellung unserer inländischen Gewinner, Őrség, Hortobágy, Naturpark Írottkő, Theiß-See und Me­
csek und deren steigende Popularität seit dem EDEN-Preis zeigt, dass wir zu Recht stolz sind.

Bemutatkozás
Az Őrség Vas megye délnyugati sarkában található: nevének eredete a Honfoglalás korára nyúlik vissza, mikor őseink az erdőkkel,
ligetekkel szabdalt gyönyörű vidékre a nyugati kapu védelmére
őrállókat telepítettek. Évszázadok során az itt élők a természettel
harmóniában alakították ki a táj arculatát, kisparcellás gazdálkodásukkal, tájba simuló épületeikkel megteremtve annak hosszútávon
fenntartható sokszínűségét.
Az Őrség hazánk legnyugatibb vidéke, ahol a dombok és patakok
vájta völgyek, lomb- és fenyőerdők, üde zöld kaszálók, jégkorszaki
maradványnövényeket őrző láprétek, kristálytiszta vizű források és
patakok váltják egymást. A csend és a friss levegő, a változatlan
formában megőrzött népi hagyományok, a vendégszeretet, az
önellátó parasztgazdálkodás termékei egyaránt vonzerőt jelentenek. A néprajzi értékek szerelmeseit a szeres településtípus
sajátosságait megőrző Pityerszeren lévő Őrségi Népi Műemlék-együttes, a Nagyrákosi Tájház, vagy Magyarszombatfán
a Fazekas Múzeum várja. A szakrális középkori emlékek közé
tartozik az Aquila János középkori templomfestő által kifestett veleméri Árpád-kori templom, és az őriszentpéteri
templom is. A népi ornamentika figyelemre méltó képviselője a fakazettás mennyezetű szentgyörgyvölgyi
református templom. A több helyütt ékesen tájba simuló haranglábak közül a klasszikus őrségi formát
képviselő pankaszi szoknyás harangláb és a mellette lévő boronafalú kovácsműhellyel szintén
a kihagyhatatlan látnivalók közé tartozik.

A nemzeti park speciális természetismereti
programjai a felfedezés örömét nyújtják természetkímélő módon: gyalog, kerékpáron, szekéren.
Az Őrség „aranyát” feldolgozó híres őrségi fazekasok
Magyarszombatfától Szentgyörgyvölgyig várják a láto­
gatókat. A Vadása- és a Borostyán-tónál a fürdőzés és
horgászat szerelmesei tölthetik el szabadidejüket. A térség
kiemelt rendezvényei - Tökfesztivál, Őrségi Vásár, Virágzás
Napjai, Hétrétország, Fazekasnapok, Völgyhídi Vásár - sokrétű
kikapcsolódást nyújtanak.

Introduction
Őrség (Sentries) is located in the southwest corner of Vas County. The name goes back to the period when the first Hungarian
tribes entered the Carpathian Basin and our ancestors planted
sentries to defend the western border of this wonderful land full
of scattered forests and boskets. During the centuries, the people
developed the landscape in harmony with nature and maintained
its perpetual diversity by tilling small parcels and by building their
homes fitted into the environment.
Őrség is the westernmost part of Hungary where rolling hills
and valleys cut by creeks and embellished by deciduous and
evergreen trees, green hayfields and marshy meadows rich in
plants holding up since the Ice Age, crystal clear brooks and
rivulets can be found alternately. The silence and fresh air, the
unchanging folklore traditions, the hospitality and the produces
supplied by the self-sufficient peasant farms constitute irresis­
tibly appealing features. The lovers of ethnographic values
are awaited by the group of Rustic Monuments of Őrség,
the Paysage House of Nagyrákos or the Potters’ Museum
in Magyarszombatfa. Major components of the preserved
medieval sacral buildings include the Velemér Church
(built in the Árpád age) with its murals painted by
John of Aquila in the Middle Ages, and the church of
Őriszentpéter. The coffered ceiling of the Calvinist
Church of Szentgyörgyvölgy is remarkably cha­
racteristic of the rustic ornamentation. From
among the belfries in perfect harmony with
the landscape the skirted belfry of Pankasz represents the classic Őrség style
and belongs to the group of “mustsee” attractions, together with
the blacksmith workshop
with wooden walls.

Events
The National Park designed special programs
as to help exploration and promote protection of nature: you can go on foot, by bicycle or
by car. The famous potters from Magyarszombatfa
to Szentgyörgy­völgy who convert the “gold” (clay) of
Őrség into pottery await the visitors. Lovers of bathing,
swimming and angling can have a great time on the shores
of Lake Vadása and Lake Borostyán. Special events (e.g.
Pumpkin Festival, the Őrség Fair, the Blossom Days, the Land
of Seven Meadows, Potters’ Days and the Viaduct Fair) offer joyful entertainment.

Peerless harmony of the landscape, ancient traditions and natural as
well as cultural values provided well-grounded reasons for classifying
this region among the excellent European destinations and the “seven
wonders of Hungary”. The local people and the Directorate of the Őrség
National Park cooperate to preserve the region’s natural and cultural
values. Visitors interested in learning about the region’s values shall be
assisted by the Tourinform of Őrség furthermore well-maintained and
identified trails and educational paths help the hikers in this
wonderful area.

Vorstellung
Őrség (Bedeutung: Wache) befindet sich in der südwestlichen
Ecke des Komitats Vas: der Ursprung des Namens reicht bis zur
Landnahme zurück, als unsere Vorfahren in das wunderschöne
Gebiet mit Wäldern und Auen zum Schutz der westlichen Pfor­
te Wachhabende gesiedelt haben. Während den Jahrhunderten
haben die hier lebenden Menschen das Gesicht der Landschaft
in Harmonie mit der Natur gestaltet, mit der Wirtschaft in kleinen
­Parzellen, mit den in die Gegend schmiegenden Gebäuden eine
langfristig erhaltbare Vielfältigkeit geschaffen.
Őrség ist eine Gegend am westlichsten Teil unserer Heimat, wo
sich Hügel und von Bächen gewühlte Täler, Laub- und Nadelwälder, frische grüne Wiesen, Moorwiesen, die Restpflanzen aus der
Eiszeit bewahren, Quellen mit kristallklarem Wasser und Bäche
wechseln. Die Stille und die frische Luft, die unverändert bewahrten Volkstraditionen, die Gastfreundlichkeit, die Produkte
der selbstständig Bauernwirtschaft bedeuten gleicherweise
eine Anziehungskraft. Die Liebhaber der ethnographischen
Werte werden in Pityerszer, eine Siedlung mit der Charakteristik von Kleinstsiedlungen, Häusergruppen und Weiler
(ungarisch „szer”) von der volkstümlichen Denkmalgruppe Őrség, dem Landschaftshaus Nagyrákos oder
das Töpfermuseum in Magyarszombatfa erwartet.
Zu den sakralen Denkmälern des Mittelalters gehören die Kirche aus der Árpádenzeit in Velemér,
die von dem mittelalterlichen Kirchenmaler,
János (Johannes) Aquila bemalt wurde, und
auch die Kirche in Őriszentpéter. Ein beachtenswerter Vertreter der volkstümlichen Ornamentik ist die reformierte Kirche in Szentgyörgyvölgy

Besucher von Magyarszombatfa bis Szentgyörgyvölgy. Bei dem
Vadása- und dem Borostyán-See können die Liebhaber des Badens und des Angelns ihre Freizeit verbringen. Die herausragenden
Veranstaltungen der Region - das Kürbisfestival, der Markt der Őrség,
die Tage der Blüten, das Siebenwiesenland, die Töpfertage, der Markt
in Völgyhíd - bieten eine vielseitige Ausspannung.

Die Region mit einer unvergleichbaren Landschaftsharmonie, Traditionen, Natur- und kulturgeschichtlichen Werten wurde mit Recht zu
den herausragenden Reisezielen Europas und zu den sieben Wundern
Ungarns eingeteilt. Die Bewahrung der Natur- und Kulturwerte wird in Zusammenarbeit mit den hiesigen Einwohnern mit der Direktion des Nationalparks Őrség

A természet és az ember harmonikus együttélését kiemelkedően
példázó első hazai nemzeti park 1999-ben a világörökség részévé
vált. A Hortobágy Közép-Európa egyetlen hatalmas, összefüggő
füves pusztája töretlen látóhatárával, egyedülálló növény- és állatvilágával, növekvő jószágállományával, erősödő pásztorságával és
gazdag kulturális hagyományával Magyarország egyik legjelentősebb idegenforgalmi helyszíne.
Hortobágyot évszázadok óta extenzív állattartás jellemzi, ahol
a természettel együtt élő ember sajátos állattartási rendet alakított ki, melyhez egyedi módszerek, hagyományok társultak.
A szigorúan hierarchizált pásztortársadalom jellegzetes tevékenysége, épített környezete, eszközei, gazdagon díszített tárgyi kultúrája az egyik indoka a tájegység iránt megnyilvánuló
nemzetközi érdeklődésnek.
E lebilincselő, egyedi szépségű tájon a tiszta vizet, a tiszta levegőt és a puszta természeti értékeit megőrizve többszörösére
növekedett a régi magyar haszonállatok (szürke marha, nóniusz ló, hortobágyi racka, mangalica, házi bivaly) állománya.
Magyarország és Európa legnagyobb ellenőrzött ökológiai területén, a Hortobágyon található a magyar természetvédelem génbanki állatállományának több,
mint fele.
Itt látható az ország leghosszabb közúti kőhídja,
a Hortobágy ismertetőjegyének számító Kilenclyukú híd, a több mint 300 éves Hortobágyi
Csárda, a gazdag és egyedi lótenyésztő
hagyo­mánnyal rendelkező világhírű hortobágyi ménes, valamint a magyar
állattenyésztés méltó jelképének

A turisztikai bemutatóhelyeken, valamint tavasztól advent beköszöntéig az egész évet felölelő
rendezvénysorozat során kicsik és nagyok egyaránt
megismerkedhetnek a mindennapjaikat élő pásztorokkal, viseletükkel, hagyományaikkal, ételeikkel, zenéjükkel
és táncaikkal, illetve a pásztorkodáshoz kapcsolódó kézműves mesterségekkel. Ezek sorából kiemelkednek az elmúlt
évszázadokban kialakult és nemzetközi hírűvé vált nagyrendezvények, a Hortobágyi Hídi Vásár (1892 óta) és a Hortobágyi
Nemzetközi Lovasnapok (1965 óta).

Hortobágy valóban létező, élő értékeket őriz. Az öreg pásztorok mellett a legifjabb generáció is szép számmal képviselteti magát, hiszen

is considered a well-deserved symbol of the
Hungarian animal husbandry can be seen here.
The oldest national park of Hungary, an outstanding example of
the harmonic co-existence of man and nature became a World
Heritage Site in 1999. Hortobágy is a single vast continuous prairie/steppe in Central Europe. With its unbroken horizon, matchless
flora and fauna, increasing stock of cattle, increasing number of
shepherds and rich cultural traditions, it is one of Hungary’s most
important sites for tourism.
For centuries, Hortobágy was used for extensive stock-farming
where the shepherds living in harmony with nature developed
unique methods and traditions of stock-breeding. The activities,
the richly decorated household utensils and devices and the
man-built environment which is characteristic of the sternly hierarchical society of the shepherds, have triggered international
interest to learn more about this region. Despite the manifold
increase of the stock of traditional livestock (grey cattle, nonius
horses, ancient long-wooled sheep or racka, mangalica hogs,
domesticated buffalo), people succeeded in preserving the
clean water and air and the natural characteristics of this
enthralling land of exceptional beauty.
Hortobágy is the biggest ecologically controlled area
and accommodates more than half of the livestock
considered the pure gene bank preserved for nature
conservation in Hungary.
This is the place where tourists can visit the
Nine-Hole Bridge which is Hungary’s longest
vehicular stone bridge and a landmark of
Hortobágy. Also the more than 300 year

During a series of events regularly held between
spring and Advent, both young and adult visitors can get
acquainted with the lifestyle, dresses, traditions, cuisine,
music and dances of the shepherds and with handcrafts
related to animal husbandry. Some of the large-scale events
that were first held during the past centuries have acquired
international fame. These are the Fair of the Hortobágy Bridge
(since 1892) and the International Equestrian Days (since 1965).

Der das harmonische Zusammenleben der Natur und des Menschen hervorragend vorstellende erste ungarische Nationalpark
wurde 1999 Teil des Welterbes. Hortobágy ist mit der einzigen
mächtigen, zusammenhängenden grasigen Puszta in Mitteleuropa mit einem ungebrochenem Horizont, einer einzigartigen Pflanzen- und Tierwelt, mit einem steigenden Viehbestand, mit einem
sich stärkenden Hirtentum und einer reichen kulturellen Tradition
eines der wichtigsten touristischen Ziele Ungarns.
Für Hortobágy war Jahrhunderte lang die extensive Tierhaltung charakteristisch, bei der der mit der Natur zusammenlebende Mensch eine eigenartige Tierhaltungsordnung erarbeitete, dem sich individuelle Methoden, Traditionen anschlossen.
Die charakteristische Tätigkeit, die Kulturlandschaft, die Instrumente, die reich verzierten Gegenstände der streng hierarchisierten Bauerngesellschaft sind der Grund für das internationale Interesse für die Region.
In dieser faszinierenden Landschaft mit einzigartiger
Schönheit, die die reine Luft und die Naturwerte der Puszta
bewahrt hat, hat sich der Bestand der alten ungarischen
Nutztiere (ungarisches Steppenrind, das Nonius-Pferd,
das Schackelschaf, das Mangaliza, der Hausbüffel) in
Hortobágy auf das Vielfache erhöht.
Auf dem größten kontrollierten ökologischen
Gebiet von Ungarn und Europa, auf der Hortobágy befindet sich mehr als die Hälfte des
ungarischen Genbank-Tierbestands unter
Naturschutz.
Hier befinden sich die größte Steinbrücke des Landes, die als Merkmal
der Hortobágy geltende Neunbögige Brücke, die mehr als

An den touristischen Vorstellungsorten sowie durch die
Veranstaltungsserie vom Frühling bis zum Advent kann Groß
und Klein die ihre Alltage lebenden Hirte, ihre Tracht, ihre Traditionen, Speisen, Musik und Tänze beziehungsweise die mit
dem Hirtenleben verbundenen Handwerkerberufe kennenlernen. Davon ragen sich die in den Jahrhunderten gestalteten und
weltberühmt gewordenen Großveranstaltungen, der Brückenmarkt
Hortobágy (seit 1892) und die Hortobágyer Internationale Reitertage
(seit 1965) heraus.

Bemutatkozás
Az Írottkő Natúrpark a nyugat-dunántúli régióban, Vas megyében helyezkedik el. Nevét a Dunántúl legmagasabb pontjáról,
a magyar-osztrák határon lévô 883 méter magas Írottkő hegycsúcsról kapta. A natúrpark fontos vonzereje a szemet gyönyörködtető
táj, amely tizenöt települést foglal magába. Az erdő borította hegyoldalakat ligetes gyümölcsösök és szőlőültetvények szegélyezik.
A tájkép meghatározó eleme a Kőszegi-hegység, a Kálvária,
az Ó-ház tető, az Írottkő-hegycsúcs, valamint a Szent Vid kápolna.
A Natúrpark területén országos és helyi jelentőségű védett területek, források, patak menti rétek, famatuzsálemek és parkok teszik
változatossá a tájat. A Natúrpark központja a történelmi kisváros,
Kőszeg, melynek városmagja a nemzeti örökség része. Műemléki
épületei, a középkori időket idéző városszerkezete, templomai,
polgárházai, ódon városfalai az örök értékek őrzői. A kőszegi
borászat hagyományai szinte egyidősek a várossal, a Szőlő Jövésnek Könyve Európa hírű kultúrtörténeti érték. A Natúrpark
településeinek története a régmúltba vezet vissza: a Szent
Vid hegyet már háromezer éve a késő bronzkorban is lakták, a római kori és avarkori maradványokkal több helyütt
találkozhatunk. A Natúrpark területén a nemzetiségi kultúrának is meghatározó szerepe van: ma németek, horvátok élnek itt és őrzik hagyományaikat, kultúrájukat.

a Hétforrás Piknik, a Félhold és Telihold Kőszegi
Ostromnapok, a Velemi Gesztenyeünnep, a Natúrpark Ízei gasztronómiai fesztivál, a Kőszegi Szüret.

egész éven át főként gyalogos és kerékpáros turisták
részére kínálunk lehetőségeket.

A Natúrpark területén Természetvédelmi Látogatóközpont és erdei
iskola működik, valamint 10 tanösvény mutatja be a természet különböző dimenzióit (madár- és növényvilág, kőzetek, források, települések). A Jurisics-vár tövében van a Gyógy- és Fűszernövénykert, valamint
a Natúrbolt, ahol a Natúrpark kézműves termékeinek teljes palettája
megtalálható. Környezetnevelési programok, Zöld Jeles Napok, társadalmi akciók szervezése mellett az egyesület a magyar és európai EDEN-díjas
desztinációkkal szoros kapcsolatot ápol, évente megrendezi az EDEN-ből
EDEN-be napokat.

Nature Park
Introduction
The Írottkő Nature Park is located in Vas County, in West Transdanubia. It was named after the highest peak of Transdanubia,
i.e. the 883 meter high Írottkő across which the Austro-Hungarian
border runs. The delightful landscape including the 15 villages of
this region provides the Nature Park with a key attraction. The hillsides covered by forests are surrounded by orchards and vineyards.
Key components of the landscape are the Kőszeg Mountains, the
Calvary Hill, the Old House Peak, the Írottkő Peak and the Saint
Vid Chapel. Protected areas, springs, meadows flanking the creeks
and brooks, Methuselah trees and tended parks contribute to the
diversity of land within the Nature Park. The centre of the Nature Park is a small town of historic importance (Kőszeg) whose
downtown area constitutes a part of the national heritage. Its
monument buildings, the intramural structure of streets recall
medieval times, the churches, civic homes, the ancient walls of
the town preserve eternal values. The traditions of winemaking are almost of the age of the town itself and the Annual
Book of Grape Offshoot Drawings is a valuable piece of
cultural history and renowned throughout Europe. Also
the history of the local towns take the visitor back to
bygone centuries: the Mountain of Saint Vid had been
inhabited for three thousand years, as of the Bronze
Age and one can view Roman and Avar remains at
several places. Also the culture of national
minorities is safeguarded within the premises
of the Nature Park: German and Croatian
people live here and keep their traditions
and culture alive.

are designed to
pre­sent from­ the beginning of Carnival
until the Advent the beauty of nature, the
benefits of eco-tourism, the values and traditions of wine-growing and gastronomy and the
cultural diversity of the region. The series of such
events include: the Nature Park Days, the series of
festivities related to making new entries in the Annual
Book of Grape Offshoot Drawings, the Kőszeg Theatre, the
Seven Springs Picnic, the “Half Moon and Full Moon” Days
of the Siege of Kőszeg, the Chesnut Fiesta in Velem, the
“Nature Park Flavors” gastronomic festival and the Vintage at
Kőszeg. “Spend your weekend in Kőszeg and the Nature Park”:
we invite particularly tourists arriving afoot or by bicycle, and
offer them a variety of programs.

A Nature Conservation Visitor Center and a school in the forest are
operated within the area of Nature Park and 10 educational trails present
nature’s different dimensions (ornithology, flora, rocks, springs, villages).
The Herb and Spice Garden can be visited near the Jurisics Fortress, in
the vicinity of Nature’s Shop where a complete assortment of handcraft
products made in the Nature Park can be bought. In addition to the organization of environmental awareness programs, Outstanding Green Days and social actions, the Society maintains
close co-operation with Hungarian and European destinations already awarded with the EDEN Prize and
organizes the “Annual Days from EDEN to EDEN”.

Der Naturpark Írottkő befindet sich in der Region West-Transdanubien, im Komitat Vas. Den Namen erhielt er vom höchsten Punkt
Transdanubiens, von der auf der ungarisch-österreichischen Grenze
befindlichen Bergspitze Írottkő. Die wichtige Anziehungskraft des
Naturparks ist die entzückende Landschaft, die fünfzehn Siedlungen
umfasst. Die Bergabhänge mit Wäldern sind mit Obstgärten und
Weingärten umrandet. Das bestimmende Element der Landschaft ist das Kőszeg-Gebirge, der Kreuzweg, das Alt-Haus-Dach,
die Bergspitze Írottkő sowie die Sankt-Vid-Kapelle. Auf dem Gebiet
des Naturparks machen die landesweit und örtlich geschützten
Gebiete, Quellen, Wiesen an Bächen, die Baum-Methusalems, Parks
die Landschaft abwechslungsreich. Zentrum des Naturparks ist die
historische Kleinstadt Kőszeg, dessen Stadtkern Teil des Nationalerbes ist. Die Denkmäler, die das Mittelalter erweckende Stadtstruktur, die Kirchen, die Bürgerhäuser, die alten Stadtmauer
bewahren die ewigen Werte. Die Traditionen der Weinkunde
in Kőszeg sind mit der Stadt gleichaltrig, das Buch der WeinAnkunft ist ein europaweit bekannter kulturhistorischer
Wert. Die Geschichten der Siedlungen des Naturparks geht
in die lange Vergangenheit zurück: der Sankt-Vid-Berg
war schon vor dreitausend Jahren, im Bronzezeitalter
bewohnt, man kann auf die Überreste des römischen
und des awarischen Zeitalters stoßen. Auf dem
Gebiet des Naturparks hat auch die Kultur der
Nationalitäten eine bestimmende Rolle: heute
leben hier Deutsche, Kroaten und bewahren
ihre Traditionen, ihre Kultur.
Programme
Die Programme des Naturparks Írottkő dienen
der Vorstellung der Werte der Natur, des Ökotourismus, der Weinkunde der Gegend, der Traditionen
und der kulturellen Vielseitigkeit vom Fasching bis
zum Advent. Solche sind die Naturpark-Tage, die Veranstaltungsserie „Buch der Wein-Ankunft”, das Burgtheater
Kőszeg, das Picknick „Siebenquellen”, die Halbmond und
Vollmond Sturmtage Kőszeg, das Kastanienfest Velem, das
gastronomische Festival „Geschmäcker des Naturparks”, die
Weinlese in Kőszeg. Unter dem Titel „Wenn Wochenende, dann
Kőszeg und der Naturpark”, bieten wir im ganzen Jahr Möglichkeiten hauptsächlich für Touristen zu Fuß und auf dem Rad.

Auf dem Gebiet des Naturparks sind die Naturschutz-Besucherzentrale
und eine Waldschule tätig, außerdem stellen 10 Lehrpfade die verschiedenen Dimensionen der Natur (Vogelkunde, Pflanzenwelt, Gesteine,
Quellen, Siedlungen) vor. Am Fuß der Jurisics-Burg befinden sich der
Heilpflanzen- und Gewürzpflanzengarten sowie der Naturladen, wo die
ganze Palette der Handwerkerprodukte des Naturparkes zu finden ist.
Neben der Organisation der Umwelterziehungsprogramme,
der Grünen Denkwürdigen Tage, der Zivilaktionen pflegt
der Verein mit den ungarischen Reisezielen mit EDENPreis eine enge Beziehung und veranstaltet jedes
Jahr die Tage aus dem EDEN in das EDEN.

Tisza-tó
Bemutatkozás
Magyarország egyik legnépszerűbb turisztikai desztinációja,
a Tisza-tó mindössze négy évtizedes múltra tekint vissza. Az ország második legnagyobb összefüggő vízfelületén, 127 négyzetkilométeren, kiváló természeti adottságainak köszönhetően érdekes, más tóval össze nem hasonlítható, mozaikos vízi világ alakult
ki. A gyors folyású, mély, hidegvízű folyó, a Tisza keresztülfolyik
a tavon, öblítő csatornákból tölti fel a lapos, gyorsan melegedő
tározó tereket, számos szigettel, holtággal varázsol változatos
vadvízországot az Alföld közepére.
A Tisza-tó négy évszakos horgászvíz; különleges halfaunája,
nemzetközi szinten ismert halbősége a madarak földi paradicsoma is egyben. A Tisza-tavi Madárrezervátum a Hortobágyi Nemzeti Park részeként a világörökség része, így a csónakos barangolások, kajaktúrák, ökotúrák, és fotótúrák legnépszerűbb úti célja.
Nemzetközi szinten is kiemelkedő színvonalú kiscsónakos kikötőparkkal és képzett túravezető bázissal rendelkezik.

A szigeteken dongautas sétaút, kalandpark, a félszigeten található ártéri erdőben tanösvény kínál kirándulási lehetőséget. 2012-ben nyílik az Európa legnagyobb édesvízi akváriumát is magában foglaló
Tisza-tavi Ökocentrum, a Tisza-tó látogatóközpontja és témaparkja.

A Tisza-tó 2007 óta körbekerékpározható.
A 70 km hosszú, mindössze 1 méter szintkülönbséggel rendelkező, aszfaltozott védtöltés kerékpárosok ezreit hívja évente a térségbe. A tiszai kompátkelőkkel jól kombinálhatóak az EUROvelo 11 nemzetközi
kerékpárutat is érintő túrák, amelyek során 110-140 km-es
köröket is meg lehet tenni. A Tisza-tó a köré szervezhető,
összesen 1200 km hosszúságú kerékpáros túraajánlatoknak
köszönhetően az európai síkvidéki kerékpározás központjának számít. Kivételes szolgáltatói összefogással büszkélkedhet:
a franchise-rendszerben működő Tisza-tavi Túraközpont Hálózat
a Tisza-tó professzionális túraszervezője. A hálózat gyalogos, vízi,

Lake Tisza
Introduction
Lake Tisza, one of the most popular touristic destinations in Hungary is merely 40 years old. Due to the excellent natural endowments of this 127 km2 lake, an unparalleled mosaic waterworld
developed over the second largest single water surface in Hungary. Tisza, a deep, rapid-flowing cold-water river flows through the
lake and fills and flushes the shallow, quickly warming subsidiary
reservoirs of the lake. Its numerous islands and backwaters create
a diversified waterworld in the middle of the Great Plains.
Lake Tisza awaits anglers in every season of the year. Its abundance of peculiar species of internationally known fish is a paradise
for birds as well. Being a part of the Hortobágy Nature Park, the Bird
Sanctuary constitutes a piece of World Heritage and is a popular
destination for people roaming by boats, kayaks eco-tourists and
photographers. An internationally renowned harbor for small
boats and a team of trained tour guides are available.
Events
Planked esplanades and an adventure park created on the
islands and educational paths built in the flood-plain
forest of the peninsula offer entertainment and relaxation. The Lake Tisza Eco-Center, a visitors’ center and
theme park which includes also Europe’s largest
freshwater aquarium shall be opened in 2012.
Lake Tisza covers an area comparable to
that of a county and offers ideal conditions
for the lovers of water sports. The excellent quality of the water makes the six
beaches a favorite resort for families arriving with children.

Since 2007, Lake Tisza can be ridden
around by bicycle. The merely 1-meter
elevation difference along the 70 km long
asphalt-coated dyke invites thousands of cyclists
every year. Tours along the EuroVelo-11 route can
suitably be combined with crossing the Tisza River
by ferries, enabling the participants to cover routes of
length varying between 110 and 140 km. Due to the total length of the available bicycle routes (1200 km), Lake
Tisza is considered the hub of flat-country bicycling in Europe.
The Network of Lake Tisza Routes operates as a franchise
enterprise and works as the professional organizer of tours
around Lake Tisza. The Network’s centers organizing pedestrian,
water, bicycle and equestrian tours offer services and equipment of
guaranteed quality, e.g. 600 rentable bicycles, child-friendly equipment, tour guides and package tours.

Vorstellung
Eines der populärsten Reiseziele Ungarns, der Theiß-See hat
eine Vergangenheit von lediglich vier Jahrzehnten. Auf der zweitgrößten zusammenhängenden Wasserfläche des Landes, auf 127
Quadratmetern hat sich dank der ausgezeichneten Naturgegebenheiten eine interessante, mit anderen Seen nicht vergleichbare,
Mosaik-Wasserwelt entfaltet. Der schnellfließende, tiefe, kalte Fluss,
die Theiß fließt durch den See, füllt die flachen, schnell wärmenden
Staubecken durch die Spülkanäle auf und zaubert ein abwechslungsreiches Wildwasserland mit vielen Inseln, Flussarmen in die
Mitte der ungarischen Tiefebene (Alföld).
Der Theiß-See ist ein Vier-Jahreszeiten-Angelwasser; seine
besondere Fischfauna, die international bekannte Fischfülle ist
gleichzeitig das Paradies der Vögel auf Erden. Das Vogelreservat
des Theiß-Sees ist als Teil des Nationalparks Hortobágy Teil des
Welterbes und somit das populärste Reiseziel der Bootfahrten, Kajaktouren, Ökowanderungen und Fotowanderungen.
Der Kleinboot-Hafen mit einem auch international hervorragenden Niveau verfügt über einen Park und eine geschulte
Tourenführerbasis.

Gegend. Mit den Theiß-Fähren sind die den internationalen Radweg EUROvelo 11 berührenden Touren gut kombinierbar, bei denen man eine Runde von sogar 110-140 km
machen kann. Dank der Radtourangebote von insgesamt 1200
km gilt der Theiß-See für das Zentrum des Flachland-Radfahrens
in Europa. Es kann auf den Zusammenschluss der Dienstleister

A mecseki térség turisztikai desztinációként több mint százéves
múltra tekint vissza. Az utóbbi évek tudatos termékfejlesztésének, attrakció-, szolgáltatás- és szálláshelyfejlesztésének köszönhetően turisztikai potenciálja meghatványozódott. A társadalmi,
kulturális, környezeti fenntarthatóság szempontjából is úttörő térség magas színvonalon mutatja be ipari, mezőgazdasági, közlekedési és katonai örökségéhez kapcsolódó turisztikai kínálatát.
A látogatókat egész évben várja az orfűi tavakat tápláló és egykor Komló vízellátását biztosító Vízfő-forrás Orfűn, valamint a Mecsek Háza, ahonnan rövid sétával érhető el Magyarország egyetlen,
működési engedéllyel rendelkező patakmalma, a Malommúzeum.

Introduction
The Mecsek Region has been a tourist destination for more than
100 years. Due to the persistent product development and the
development of attractions, services and places of accommodation, the region’s tourism potential has grown exponentially. As far
as its social, cultural and environmental sustainability, is concerned
the region has pioneered and presented in an excellent manner
what tourism can offer in respect of its industrial, agricultural, public transport and military heritage.
In addition to the Vízfő Spring of Orfű which replenishes the
lakes of Orfű and used to supply the town of Komló, the Mecsek
House awaits the visitors throughout the year. From this vantage
point, the Water-Mill Museum, the single water-mill driven by
a creek and operating under authority permit in Hungary can be
visited after a short walk.
The first medieval fresco painted in Hungary can be seen
in the 1000 year old chapel of the Pécsvárad Castle, once an
important site in the process of establishing the Hunga­
rian state. In addition to its marvelous location, the town
of Pécs, the 2010 European Capital of Culture, is famous
for its buoyant and vivacious cultural life, viticulture and
gastronomy.

unforgettable experiences to visitors of any age.
The Nádor Gallery developed within the ancient
walls of the former Hotel Nádor, radiates a special
mood and allows the visitors to get absorbed in the
creations of contemporary artists. The Traffic Pub built
on the site of the former Kossuth Movie offers specialties
to the gourmand. The monastery castle of Pécsvárad offers
a superb variety of cultural programs to families and tourists.
Adventurous tourists can start from the Mecsek House of Orfű
and participate in exciting cave excursions. Beyond all these, more
than 100 various events are organized throughout the year.
In addition to the above programs, the Mecsek Region offers
numerous attractions to the visitors, like well-preserved folklore
traditions, gastronomy, excursions, horse riding, various cultural and
artistic events and festivals.

The sites that acquired new functions (Pécsvárad Castle, Zsolnay Cultural
Section of Pécs, Mecsextreme Park, Traffic Pub, Nádor Gallery, the WaterMill Museum and the Vízfő Spring of Orfű, and the Mecsek House) can be
visited in the frame of a special touristic program of unique
image. After visiting either site, visitors receive a pearl
made by a renowned local industrial artist and are
encouraged to collect as much as needed to make
a necklace.

Vorstellung
Als touristisches Reiseziel blickt die Region Mecsek auf eine
Vergangenheit von mehr als hundert Jahren zurück. Infolge der
bewussten Produktentwicklung, Entwickeln der Attraktionen,
Dienstleistungen und Unterkünfte in den vergangenen Jahren
hat sich das touristische Potential um das Vielfache gesteigert.
Die auch aus dem Aspekt der sozialen, kulturellen, Umwelt-Nachhaltigkeit bahnbrechende Region stellt ihr mit dem industriellen,
landwirtschaftlichen, Verkehrs- und militärischen Erbe verbundenes touristisches Angebot auf hohem Niveau vor.
Die die Seen Orfűs speisende und einst die Wasserversorgung
von Komló sichernde Wasserhauptquelle in Orfű sowie das
Me­csek-Haus, wovon man mit einem kurzen Spaziergang die
einzige über Betriebsgenehmigung verfügende Wassermühle
Ungarns, das Mühlenmuseum erreichen kann, erwarten ihre
Besucher im ganzen Jahr.
In der Burg Pécsvárad, an einem der wichtigsten Orte der
Staatsgründung, in der tausend Jahre alten Kapelle kann
unter anderem das erste mittelalterliche Fresko des Landes betrachtet werden. Pécs, die Kulturhauptstadt Europas (2010) ist neben der wunderbaren Lage auch vom
seinem regen Kulturleben, seiner Weinkunde und
Gastronomie berühmt.

Én felelős ökoturista vagyok!
Felelősségteljes turistaként a természetben mindig betartom ezeket a szabályokat, a magam
és a természet érdekében is!
A természetjárásra készülve megfontolom, hogy ha autóval utazom, barátaimmal közösen használom a gépkocsit vagy előnyben részesítem a vonatot, kerékpárt. A meglátogatott természeti területet gyalog járom be vagy csak az engedélyezett közlekedési eszközt veszem igénybe.
Amikor barangolásra készülök, jól megválogatom az öltözetemet és a szükséges eszközöket. Alkalmazkodom a természethez, hogy minél többet megismerhessek belőle.
Figyelem a természet hangjait, szükségtelenül nem keltek zajt, mert ezzel az állatokat és turista társaimat megzavarom. Én is örülök, ha ők sem zavarnak engem.
Az állatok megszokták, hogy az emberek az utakon mozognak. Ha elhagyom az utat, az állatok elmenekülnek, így nem tudom őket megfigyelni. A kijelölt útról azért sem térek le, mert így letaposhatok értékes
és szép növényeket.
A természetjárás során keletkező szemetet nem dobom el, hanem visszateszem a hátizsákomba. Fontosnak tartom, hogy nem hagyok nyomokat, nem szakítok le növényeket, nem viszek haza állatokat és csak
a kijelölt helyen gyújtok tüzet.
A látogatásra kijelölt természeti területeken kilátókat, padokat, tűzrakóhelyeket találok a tartózkodásom
kényelme érdekében. Ezeket ott alakították ki, ahol a lehető legkevésbé zavarom a környezetet – itt nyugodtan és eredményesen figyelhetem meg a természetet.
A védett természeti területeken a szabadban történő sátorozás általában nem engedélyezett, ezért
a környéken keresek szállást. Ha olyan szálláshelyet, vendéglőt találok, amit a helyiek működtetnek,
támogatom a helyi gazdaságot is. Gyakran megkóstolom a helyi alapanyagokból készült ételeket.
A kutyámat - saját érdekében is - pórázon tartom.
A fenti szabályokat mindig észben tartom, mert ha a természet jól érzi magát, én is jól érzem
magam benne és mások gyönyörűségére is szolgálhat.
I am a responsible eco-tourist!
Being a responsible eco-tourist, I adhere to the following rules whenever I go out to enjoy
nature, for the benefit of both myself and Mother Nature!
Before taking a tour in the country using my car, I consider the possibility of
sharing the seats with my friends or prefer travelling by railway or bicycle. I take a stroll in the
area I wish to visit or use only the means of transport permitted by the authorities.
When I prepare for tour, I carefully choose the pieces of my clothing and the necessary equipage. I conform myself to the rules of nature as to learn about it as much as
possible.
I listen to the sounds of nature and do not make unnecessary noise as to
refrain from scaring the animals and or disturbing my fellow tou­rists. And
I am glad if they do not disturb me, either.
The animals are accustomed to tourists walking on marked paths.
If I go off the usual footpaths, the animals run away and I will not be
able to observe them. I shall not step off the footpaths as to prevent
stamping on valuable and beautiful flowers.
I do not litter in the natural environment but put any waste in
my rucksack. I do not leave any trail behind me, do not tear
off plants, do not take home animals and start a fire
only at places permitted by the authorities.
As to ensure conformity of my stay, I look for lookout places, benches and places approved for laying a
fire. Such places are established at points where I cause the
least possible nuisance to the environment and I can observe
the nature quietly and successfully.
In general, pitching a tent in protected natural areas is not permitted. Therefore, I reserve accommodation in the vici­nity. Using the ser­
vices of an inn or motel operated by local people means that I support,
at the same time, the local eco­nomy. I frequently taste dishes cooked using
locally produced raw materials.
I always hold my dog on leash, also for its benefit.
I always keep the above rules in my mind because if Nature “feels comfortable” also
I shall feel comfortable and such comfort gives pleasure to everyone.
Ich bin ein verantwortlicher Ökotourist!
Als verantwortlicher Tourist halte ich diese Regel im eigenen Interesse und auch im Interesse der
Natur immer ein.
Bei der Vorbereitung der Wanderung überlege ich, dass ich - wenn ich Auto fahre - das Fahrzeug
zusammen mit meinen Freunden benutze oder den Zug, das Fahrrad bevorzuge. Ich begehe die
besuchten Naturgebiete zu Fuß oder ich nehme nur die genehmigten Verkehrsmittel in Anspruch.
Wenn ich mich auf die Wanderung vorbereite, wähle ich meine Bekleidung und die notwendige Ausrüstung sorgfältig aus. Ich passe mich der Natur an, damit ich so viel es geht davon kennen lernen kann.
Ich höre den Stimmen der Natur zu, ich mache keinen unnötigen Lärm, weil ich damit die Tiere und
die anderen Touristen störe. Ich freue mich auch, dass sie mich nicht stören.
Die Tiere haben sich daran gewöhnt, dass die Menschen sich auf den Wanderwegen bewegen. Wenn
ich den Weg verlasse, flüchten die Tiere, so kann ich sie nicht beobachten. Ich verlasse den festgesetzten
Weg nicht, weil ich wertvolle und schöne Pflanzen niedertreten kann.
Ich werfe den während der Wanderung entstandenen Müll nicht weg, sondern stecke ihn in meinen
Rucksack zurück. Ich halte es für wichtig, dass ich keine Spuren hinterlasse, keine Pflanzen abreiße, keine
Tiere nach Hause bringe und nur an den bestimmten Orten Feuer zünde.
Ich finde auf den zum Besuch bestimmten Naturgebieten für meinen bequemen Aufenthalt Ausblickshöhen, Bänke, Feuerlegeplätze. Diese wurden dort errichtet, wo ich die Umwelt am wenigsten störe - hier
kann ich die Natur ruhig und erfolgreich beobachten.
Auf den geschützten Naturgebieten ist das Zelten im Freien in allgemeinen nicht gestattet, deswegen
suche ich eine Unterkunft in der Gegend. Wenn ich eine Unterkunft, eine Gaststätte finde, die von hiesigen
Einwohnern betätigt wird, fördere ich auch die lokale Wirtschaft. Ich koste oft Speisen aus lokalen Zutaten.
Ich halte meinen Hund - auch im eigenen Interesse - an der Leine.
Ich behalte diese Regen immer im Kopf, weil wenn die Natur sich wohl fühlt, kann ich mich in der
Natur auch wohl fühlen, und kann sie auch zur Vergnügung der Mitmenschen dienen.
