This is with no doubt the year of affirmation of Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival! Four moments marked the
preparation of this 4th edition:
1 - The participation of the Brazilian delegation amazingly directed by Laércio Silva from Porto Seguro Turism in the 3rd
edition of this festival, showed us great findings of “sesimbrenses” around mother earth - Brazil. The Finisterra festival
was invited by Juca Fonseca, Director of the Festival Cine Fest
in Porto Seguro, to be part of its 7th edition. We’ve opened
the festival with the presentation of my documentary about the
Cabo Espichel and closed it with a special session, where I’ve
presented some of the winning films of the 3rd edition of Finisterra.
2 - As President of the Arrábida Film Commission, I’ve also
made a presentation on how we could create the connexion between this two cultures and help Porto Seguro to form their
Film Commission.
3 - Porto Seguro has received the institutional approval (by the
Mayor Claudia Oliveira, event organizers, Blue Hawk, Arrábida Film Commission and the Sesimbra City Council President Augusto Pólvora) and this year’s Finisterra edition will be
focus on the cultural connection between Sesimbra and Porto
Seguro. Porto Seguro is again part of this festival but this time
as guest region with various artistic performances and institutional presence.
4 - On the deadline day for entries to the festival (that closed
with 178 entries from 48 countries), we’ve received a letter
from President of the Portuguese Republic, recognising the
Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival as “High Patronage of the President of the Republic”.
I would like to highlight that in this 4th edition of the Festival,
we’ve included the city of Lisbon with the main goal of make
people look at Arrábida region as a great provider of natural and
historical scenarios for movies. The opening of the festival at
the Portuguese Communications Foundation is a sign of cooperation between institutions but mostly an invitation to visit the
Arrábida region when visiting Lisbon.
In this 4th edition of the International conference “Cinema and Tourism” we’ll have
some of the world’s best experts in timelapse. By creating this category, the Finisterra
Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival become worldwide pioneer bringing to spotlights
a series of small directors and producers that will have the chance to show their work to
the world and gain recognition. So it was with Kirill Neizmakov that by coming to Sesimbra to receive a prize in the last edition, made at my request a video clip in timelapse
to promote this 4th edition connecting Lisbon (the capital) Sesimbra (the Festival hometown) and the Cabo Espichel (theme of this 4th edition).In only 4 minutes he managed to
make Sesimbra viral with millions of views worldwide. Today he is one of our speakers.
Other “independent” directors also participate with their productions. In the past year,
the visibility the festival gave to Arrábida region brought to Film Commission several
proposals for film projects and we’re currently working on this.
Finally I would like to remind that all of this only makes sense because of the work and
the high quality recognition of this festival, achieved through the participants who sent
us their films.
This year, once again the presence of 48 countries has shown that Sesimbra and Arrábida
Region are opened to the world. Welcome and enjoy the Festival!
Este é efectivamente o ano da afirmação do Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism
Festival! Quatro momentos marcaram a preparação desta 4ª edição: 1-Após a presença
na 3ª edição de uma comitiva brasileira coordenada por Laércio Silva do Turismo de
Porto Seguro que nos mostrou e sensibilizou para o “descobrimento sesimbrense” sobre
a terra mãe do Brasil. O festival Finisterra foi convidado por Juca Fonseca, director
do Arraial Cine Fest em Porto Seguro, para fazer geminação cultural e estar presente
na sua 7ª edição, onde estivemos com honras de abertura, com a apresentação do meu
documentário sobre o cabo Espichel e honras de encerramento onde numa sessão especial, apresentei alguns dos filmes vencedores da 3º edição do Finisterra. 2- Nesse
mesmo evento, e na qualidade de presidente da Arrábida Film Commisison que já nesta
edição organiza este festival, fiz uma apresentação para que esta geminação cultural
pudesse já estabelecer pontes e ajudar Porto Seguro a formar uma Film Commission.
3 - De forma institucional, Porto Seguro recebeu através da Prefeita Cláudia Oliveira,
os organizadores, Falcão Azul, Arrábida Film Commisison e a Câmara Municipal de
Sesimbra na pessoa do Sr. presidente Augusto Pólvora. E será neste festival Finisterra,
que a geminação cultural e institucional entre dois lugares que a história uniu terá maior
destaque. Porto Seguro agora de forma diferente está novamente presente como região
convidada com várias demonstrações artísticas e presença institucional. 4- No dia do
encerramento das inscrições do festival, onde fechámos com 178 filmes de 48 países,
recebemos ofício da Casa Civil da Presidência da Republica Portuguesa, atribuindo ao
Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival a chancela do “Alto Patrocínio do Sr.
Presidente da Republica”. Quero destacar ainda nesta 4º edição a extensão do mesmo à
cidade de Lisboa para que , principalmente olhem para a região da Arrábida como um
forte fornecedor de cenários naturais e históricos para o cinema. A abertura deste festival na Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações, é também um sinal de cooperação das
instituições mas principalmente um convite para que ao visitar Lisboa, venham também
conhecer a região da Arrábida.
Temos na 4ª edição da conferência Internacional “O Cinema e o Turismo” a presença
de alguns dos melhores especialistas do Mundo, de Timelapse. O Finisterra Arrábida
Film Art & Tourism Festival foi pioneiro ao nível mundial por criar esta categoria que
trás do anonimato uma série de pequenos realizadores e produtores que aqui ao mostrar
o seu trabalho ao mundo e ganho reconhecimento através de um prémio, veem também
aqui uma plataforma de lançamento para um maior destaque. Assim aconteceu com
Kirill Neizmakov que ao vir a Sesimbra receber um premio na passada edição, a meu
pedido fez um clip de vídeo em Timelapse para promover esta 4ª edição ligando também Lisboa, como capital do País, Sesimbra como lugar do Festival e o Cabo Espichel,
mote desta 4ª edição. Em apenas 4 minutos conseguiu colocar Sesimbra no Mundo de
forma viral, com milhões de visualizações em todo o mundo. Hoje é um dos nossos
conferencistas. Outros realizadores “independentes” participam também aqui com outras produções. Neste último ano, a visibilidade que o festival deu à região da Arrábida
trouxe até nós Film Commission, várias propostas para projectos cinematográficos,
estando neste momento a trabalhar nesse sentido. Por fim, dizer que tudo isto só faz
sentido, porque o reconhecimento do trabalho e da elevada qualidade deste festival, é
feito através da participação dos concorrentes que enviam os seus filmes. Este ano, uma
vez mais a presença de 48 países vem mostrar que Sesimbra e a Região da Arrábida se
abriram para o Mundo.

These days, technology has made it possible for us to watch
high definition films, practically wherever and whenever we
want and on a device that fits into the palm of our hand. Moving images, which were, until relatively recently, the exclusive
purview of cinema or television screens or those on desktop
devices, now follow us everywhere. Thanks to their ability to
draw us in, they have overtaken traditional text forms with ease
and have taken on significant importance in our lives.
In today’s world, anyone who wishes to publicise a product, an
idea, a region, must have a short video to hand, ready for posting and sharing on the net. The aim is to get as many views as
possible and even go viral. Anyone who wants to find out about
a place will follow the same path and look for videos on the
internet, because it is the moving form that offers a real sense of
closeness and understanding that no other form can reproduce.
For tourist destinations, official promotional videos have been
de rigueur for some time, although it is true that the supports
required to disseminate these to the wider public were often
few and far between or prohibitively costly. Now, though,
with the ease of access provided by the ever-increasing capacity and quality of modern electronic devices, and a supporting
and supportive internet, much of this work is now viewable by
all. Some of the work has been produced by highly-regarded
directors and all of it is streamed through social networks for
all to see.
Tourism promotional videos, which have always played a key
role in communication strategies, have, thus, moved up to a
new level. Their prevalence has also proved to be beneficial to
the regions.
Finisterra, a festival that is actually all about tourism promotional videos, spotted this trend early on and has made an excellent job of exploiting and presenting it. One example of this was
the video by Kirill Neiezhmakov, one of the world’s foremost
timelapse experts. His video, made during Finisterra 2014, suddenly went viral and opened Sesimbra up to huge media exposure.
This year, we have again launched our invitation to make new
videos on Sesimbra. We are sure that this will generate new
work that will help people get to know our home town even
better. In fact, this is one of the main features of this festival, which we have been closely
involved in ever since it first started. For all those who come to Sesimbra for this year’s
festival, I hope you have an excellent time. Welcome!

Atualmente a tecnologia permite-nos visualizar um filme em alta definição praticamente
em qualquer parte, e a qualquer momento, num dispositivo que cabe na palma da mão.
As imagens em movimento, que até há bem pouco tempo eram exclusivas dos ecrãs de
cinema, de televisão, ou de dispositivos fixos, passaram a acompanhar-nos para todo o
lado, e a sua capacidade de atração faz com que facilmente ultrapassem o tradicional texto
e ganhem uma imensa preponderância nas nossas vidas.
Hoje, quem quer comunicar um produto, uma ideia, uma região, não prescinde de um
pequeno vídeo disponível na rede e pronto a ser partilhado. O objetivo é atingir o máximo
de visualizações, aquilo a que designamos de “viral”. Quem está interessado em conhecer
um destino segue o mesmo caminho e procura vídeos na Internet, porque estes lhe dão
uma sensação de proximidade e conhecimento que mais nenhum meio lhe proporciona.
No que respeita aos destinos turísticos, os vídeos promocionais oficiais há muito que
eram praticamente uma obrigatoriedade, embora por vezes os suportes existentes para os
dar a conhecer ao grande público fossem escassos ou dispendiosos. No entanto, com o
acesso facilitado a equipamentos eletrónicos, que apresentam cada vez mais capacidade e
qualidade, e à Internet como suporte, encontramos inúmeros trabalhos, alguns dos quais
de realizadores consagrados, que simplesmente são disponibilizados nas redes sociais
para todos aqueles que os queiram ver.
Os vídeos de promoção turística, que sempre tiveram um lugar de destaque nas estratégias
de comunicação, entram assim numa nova dimensão, e assumem uma preponderância que
beneficia, sem dúvida, as regiões.
O Finisterra, festival cujo mote são exatamente os vídeos de promoção turística, identificou desde cedo esta dinâmica e tem sabido explorá-la e apresentá-la. Exemplo disso
foi o vídeo de Kirill Neiezhmakov, um dos maiores especialistas mundiais na técnica de
timelapse, feito durante o Finisterra 2014, que de um momento para o outro se tornou
viral e a partir daí permitiu uma enorme exposição mediática a Sesimbra.
Este ano, o convite para que se elaborem novos vídeos sobre Sesimbra voltou a ser lançado e estamos certos que aparecerão trabalhos que contribuirão igualmente para dar a
conhecer a nossa terra. Aliás, essa é uma das principais caraterísticas deste festival, ao
qual nos temos associado, como parceiros, desde o início. A todos os que virão a Sesimbra
participar nesta edição, desejo uma excelente estadia. Sejam bem vindos!

The purpose of the Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações
(FPC) is to encourage the study, conservation and dissemination
of the historical, scientific and technological heritage of communications in Portugal, a sector which in terms of postal services
has existed for around 500 years and in terms of telecommunications for 200 years, and to realise research, cooperation and image-based activities aimed at disseminating the sector’s historical
evolution and latest technologies and to demonstrate their contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
As a place where the past, present and future of communications
intersect, the FPC aspires to become a laboratory of innovation
and experimentation where trends are foreseen and new technologies and their impact on the way people organise their daily lives
is reflected upon, taking an active role in fostering citizenship,
literacy, knowledge, innovation, social inclusion and other forms
of artistic and cultural expression.
Carlos Sargedas, President of Arrábida Film Comission and
Director of the Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival, on a visit to the Foundation where a course on digital film is
underway, has proposed holding the official opening of the 4th
edition of the Festival and the customary international conference
on the theme “Cinema and Tourism” at the FPC. The enthusiasm
with which the proposal was put to us and the reasons given for
choosing the FPC as the stage for these events, in particular its
location and its close links to the entities and agents working in
every field of this “territory”, with whom we consider it to be our
duty to work in association in terms of intervening in society,
within the framework of our purpose and vision, ensure that we
are very excited about this opportunity.

Be challenged to evaluate someone’s work is something that
always makes us proud, it means that somehow they are recognizing in us the competence to do so.
Be invited to lead a group of people who will choose the best
works from 178 films from 48 nations was something that really made me apprehensive initially. The responsibility is huge
especially when we are asked to review audio visual works
with overall high quality, great intrinsic interest and with such
an important specific function: to promote the area and tourism. In this edition I had the chance to evaluate pieces of art,
with fantastic images alongside with music and, in some cases, amazing special effects, which made my task harder than
I could expect
Thanks to the organizer I had the opportunity to see the work
of so many producers and directors from around the world,
each with its style, vision and technique. Choose from so many
admirable films was undoubtedly a difficult task, which made
me review the scores more than once to ensure I was focus
on what was to be shown at the moment. I hope I have done a
good job helped with my input and work to put one more grain
of sand for the promotion of cinema in general, in a time, that
in my opinion we’re going through profound transformation
in this industry. New opportunities are offered to anyone who
can follow this democratization of quality standards. It has
never been so easy and so cheap capture quality images in the
most diverse situations (Aerial too, with the advent of Drones
increasingly accurate, stabilized and sophisticated).
Change is usually a source of insecurity and fear of possible
consequences. These days there are those who feel strongly
threatened by the birth of so many film makers, many of them
still incredibly young and talented. I can only express my enthusiasm to see more and more artists to be able to light their
ideas and projects, through the emergence of all this new technology. I am truly promoter, without any reservation, of this
shift toward a film industry “meritocratic”, where distribution
facilities are guided by assessments of the public, not just by
factors that often are only related to economic reasons, and this
does not mean that they do not are fundamental, just can not be the only or the first.
Thanks Carlos Sargedas, thanks to Arrábida Film Commision, thanks my colleagues
Excellencies members of this jury and finally thanks to you ladies and gentlemen producers, directors and cinematographers for your work and for share it with the world!
Anyway, do not forget that the technological transformation and the opportunities are
amazing, but the most important thing is and will remain: the story!

Ser desafiado a avaliar o trabalho de alguém, é algo que nos orgulha sempre, quer
dizer que de alguma forma, reconhecem em nós as competência necessárias para o
fazer.
Ser desafiado a presidir um grupo heterogéneo de pessoas que irão escolher os melhores trabalhos entre 178 filmes provenientes de 48 países é algo que me deixou inicialmente mais apreensivo que outra coisa. A responsabilidade é enorme, especialmente quando somos chamados a avaliar obras audiovisuais de uma qualidade geral
muito elevada, de um interesse intrínseco grande e com uma função específica tão
importante : promoção Turística de algo ou de um território.
Nesta edição, tive a oportunidade de visionar verdadeiras obras de arte, compostas por
imagens fantásticas acompanhadas de músicas e em alguns casos de efeitos especiais
surpreendentes, tornando a minha tarefa sem dúvida muito mais difícil do que tinha
imaginado.
Não posso deixar de agradecer ao organizador esta oportunidade de conhecer o trabalho de tantos produtores e realizadores provenientes de vários países, cada um com
o seu estilo, visão e técnica.
Escolher entre tantos filmes merecedores foi sem dúvida uma tarefa difícil, que me
obrigou mais de uma vez, a rever as pontuações que acabava de dar, em função do que
estava a visionar naquele momento. Espero contudo ter feito um bom trabalho e ter
ajudado a colocar mais um grão de areia para a promoção do cinema em geral, num
momento, na minha opinião, de profunda transformação desta indústria.
Novas oportunidades são oferecidas a quem puder acompanhar esta democratização
dos padrões que qualidade. Nunca foi tão fácil e tão barato captar imagens de qualidade nas mais diversificadas situações (até áreas com o advento dos Drones cada vez
mais precisos, estabilizados e sofisticados).
As mudanças são normalmente fonte de inseguranças e medo das consequências.
Hoje em dia, há quem se veja fortemente ameaçado pelos nascimento de tantos filmmakers, muito deles ainda incrivelmente jovens e talentosos. Eu, apenas posso mani15
festar o meu entusiasmo por ver cada vez mais artistas a poder dar luz às suas ideias e
projetos, através do aparecimento de toda esta novas tecnologias.
Promovo sem reserva esta mudança em direção a uma indústria cinematográfica “meritocrática” onde os meios de distribuição sejam orientados pelas avaliações do público e
não apenas por fatores que muitas das vezes apenas estão relacionados com motivações
económicas, e com isto não quero dizer que estas não sejam fundamentais, apenas não
podem ser as únicas nem as primeiras.
Obrigado Carlos Sargedas, obrigado Arrábida Film Commision, obrigado meus excelentíssimos colegas membros deste júri e finalmente obrigado a vocês caros colegas
produtores, realizadores e cinematógrafos pelos vosso trabalhos e por quer partilhar lo
com o mundo! E acabando, não esqueçam que apesar da transformação tecnológica e das
oportunidades que ela nos brinda, o mais importante é e continuará sendo: a história!

The Lisbon Regional Tourism Authority congratulates the 4th edition of Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival 2015 which
records 178 films representing 48 countries that demonstrates the
great cultural and tourist interest by Sesimbra, Arrábida and Lisbon
region.
Cinema, images, sounds and music connected to a natural spectacle of
unique flora and fauna. The geographical features allow to combine
sea and mountains, blue and green tones that touch the sky and the
ocean, inviting to pleasure in an idyllic place like Arrábida. Cinema
as a cultural offer is synonymous of tourism because it means places,
secular traditions, extraordinary landscapes to memory of those who
visit us. In its four years of existence, the Finisterra project has emphasized the natural heritage of Arrábida Mountain, Underwater Park
and Cape Espichel which perform filming and place of movie world
presences
ERT-RL joins partners to participate in the promotion of the region
culture and natural heritage. The success of the festival will help to
elevate the internal and external regional image and value «Arrábida
Centrality» as a symbiosis between cinema and tourism as well as art
and natural heritage.
«Arrábida Centrality» is one of our priorities in the 2015-2019 Strategic Plan for Lisbon Tourism encompassing Sesimbra, Palmela and
Setúbal. Here, experiences happen whether it is gastronomy, sport,
culture or entertainment as a way of developing the three touristic
municipalities, linked by the Arrábida Mountain that so many poets
and writers immortalized.
We welcome, therefore, the organization of Finisterra, represented
by its director Carlos Sargedas that optimistically and strong will
has led Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival associated
to culture and tourism.

A Entidade Regional de Turismo da Região de Lisboa felicita a 4ª. Edição do Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival 2015 com um recorde de 178 filmes representando 48 países,
o que demonstra o grande interesse cultural e turístico por Sesimbra, pela Arrábida e pela região
de Lisboa. Aqui se faz o cinema, de imagens, sons e música tendo como «pano de fundo» um
espetáculo natural de flora e fauna únicas. As características geográficas permitem conjugar o
mar e a serra, os tons azuis e verdes que tocam o céu e o oceano, convidando à visita e ao prazer
de um cenário idílico na Arrábida.
O cinema, como oferta cultural da região, é sinónimo de turismo porque divulga lugares únicos,
tradições seculares, paisagens extraordinárias para memória de quem nos visita. Nos seus quatro anos de existência, o projeto Finisterra tem vindo a destacar o património natural da Serra da
Arrábida, o Parque Subaquático e o Cabo Espichel, palco de diversas filmagens e de presenças
do mundo cinéfilo.
A ERT-RL une-se aos parceiros que conjuntamente participam na promoção da cultura e da
riqueza natural e patrimonial da região. O sucesso do festival contribuirá para dignificar a imagem regional interna e externa e valorizar a Centralidade «Arrábida» numa simbiose entre o
cinema e o turismo, entre a arte e o património natural.
A Centralidade «Arrábida» é uma das prioridades do nosso Plano Estratégico para o Turismo
2015-2019 que engloba Sesimbra, Palmela e Setúbal. Aqui, as experiências acontecem quer sejam gastronómicas, desportivas ou culturais e animação como vias de desenvolvimento turístico
para os municípios, que ligados pela Serra Mãe, tantos poetas e escritores imortalizaram.
Felicitamos, por isso, a Organização do Finisterra, na pessoa do seu diretor Carlos Sargedas que
com otimismo, gosto e vontade férrea tem conduzido o Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism

Porto Seguro, mother earth of Brazil, a city located in the extreme south of Bahia, where the country was discovered, is
experiencing a new reality: the head of the municipal administration is a warrior woman, hardworking and committed to the
social and economic city development.
We are always looking for new strategies to the tourism development, that is the main incoming of our economy. One
example is the new partnership with our Portuguese brothers,
through the Sesimbra City Council, together with the Falcao
Azul company, through his director Carlos Sargedas, that donate to Porto Seguro an unpublished image file, showing a
new look of the discovery land.
The nature beauty, the preservation of the environment are
shown in these images, proving that the sustainable growth is
possible. Participating for the second consecutive year of the
FINISTERRA, our city presents part of this work with images
in special angles that will certainly mark the annual edition of
this important event.
Porto Seguro, over the 515 years of discovery, just have to
thank all the Portuguese brothers for the affection and respect
for our people. We will be eternally grateful to those who are
responsible for our existence in the world.

Alberto Rocco, Born in Torino (Italy), graduated in the same city in
“Scienze Dell ‘ informazione”. Has a wide exeprience in production
and management teams in various Italian, Spanish and Portuguese
companies. During the last 15 years has been involved in several
audiovisual projects (fiction movies, documentary, advertising spots
and fashion/video clips). Among the most representative are a movie
“the compass”, the documentary “Born To Fly” and lately the movie
“Fantasy” made in collaboration with John Frey Actors Studio. Alberto is Director, cinematographer, actor and writer on Occidente
Movies Productions. Creativity plays an important role for him and
became a reflection on his work. The next productions “Zagara”
co-production Italy/Spain and “Saturnino Sebastião da Mouraria a
Marte” co-production Portugal/Italy/Spain is a clear demonstration
of the versatility as author and Director.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and after many moves around Scotland,
England, Greece and Egypt, attended a boarding school for army officers daughters in Bath, England.
Trained as a radiographer, working for the NHS with a particular
interest in equipment and vascular studies. Becoming a manger for
radiology services, I studied for an MBA with the Open University.
Retired in 2007 and immediately moved to Amorgos, buying and
renovating an old village house. Living here has given me a better
understanding of tourism and the effects on ecology and infrastructures.
Assist with some projects on the island – cleaning paths, beaches
etc.
I have been involved with Yperia since coming to Amorgos and very
much enjoy meeting the delegates from such varied countries and
walks of life. In 2013 presented a paper - Ecology and Sustainable
Development. Their place in Tourism
Attended the Polish Tour Film Festival in Warsaw in 2012, presenting a short paper about the impact of the film The Big Blue.
Got a Degree in Film from Lisbon Superior Film School.
Has been a film and video producer for 25 years, and was responsible
for programming films for RTP between 1999 and 2002.
Is a film teacher (in Direction, Aesthetics and History) for 12 years, in
ETIC (technical) and IPA (superior).
Directed the short feature “Reborn”, selected for the Motel X Festival
in 2009.

Graduated in audiovisual production from ISCPA, Paris, 2012, Priscilla Frey is a producer in Geneva. Helping young writers and directors
since the very beginning of a project is what she prefers the most, and
how she develops her professional activities.
With a swiss father and a Portuguese mother, she lived 10 years in Lisbon where she discovered cinema’s universe. Proud of her Portuguese
origins, she founded a Portuguese cultural association where she lives,
simultaneous with her production activities. It’s first project was the
first edition of the International Portuguese Speaking Cinema Festival,
that occurred in August 2013. Attentive to the access of Portuguese
emigrants to their culture and origins, Priscilla is already working on
a new project, the Month of Cinema Portuguese, which will occur in
April 2015.

Alexandre Honrado will chair the jury in this 3rd edition.
Writer (with about a hundred books published, some award
winning, translated from Spain to South Korea); his title “Palhincócegas” was considered, in 2012 one of the best books in
the world for children by the National Library of Paris).
Among the first television jobs come up scripts for Sesame
Street. Wrote documentaries, films, TV and radio programs
(RTP, SIC, TVI and Media Capital Radio) and is currently a
producer of audiovisuais. Was author of a song that represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest (in Kiev, Ukraine).
In the last two years of activity wrote film animation, short
films, corporate and training films and even television programs. Also produced in the same period, short films and TV
programs and has lectured at the Academy in 2012 RTP.

lake of Batur. At 1,031m above sea level and 18
square kilometers in size, this is a largely unexplored body of water. After consulting a volcano
expert, we learnt that the water level of the lake
had risen a few metres in a couple of years, and
the water quality has been deteriorating. We
wanted to find out if we could contribute to finding the causes of these problems, and if not, provide video documentation of the condition of the

Born in Cáceres (Spain), 1965, holds a B.A. degree in Journalism
from the Complutense University of Madrid. He works in his own
company (‘Libre Producciones’, Extremadura, Spain) since 1988 as
a writer, production manager and director. Since then I’ve written
and performed over 400 film and television productions, including
TV documentary series, documentaries and short fiction. His work
has been seen on many countries, either on television broadcasts or
at film festivals. In 2014 made his first fictional feature, ‘The evil of
muleteer’, based on his own novel.

Francesco Cerruti
Biography
Francesco Lente Cerruti, born in Portugal 1985 and was raised in the same country
with both Portuguese and Italian values. The passion about photography and image
came when he was still a child, but pursued instead the computer languages in Sines.
The true path of photography, video and television started when he moved to Lisbon
to study these arts at Escola Profissional de Comunicação e Imagem where he graduated distinctively. It was in that very same school where his first experimented with
timelapse (2005), with a miniDV handycam.
Later, he took a degree at Escola Superior de Comunicação e Imagem and then went
working as freelance videographer and web designer, creating in his free time his first
big timelapse project, Timelapse Portugal. RTP chose his project to become real (Academia RTP), and in 2012 he travelled around Portugal capturing timelapse sequences
that ended up as being part of RTP’s new visual communication and in several shows.
By the end of 2012, Francesco created the timelapse.pt platform completely dedicated
to timelapse, sharing projects and knowledge and services.
In 2013, besides timelapse.pt, he worked as a freelance videographer and as a Drone
remote camera operator and later managed the video department of a communication
agency. Until he was summoned again at RTP to be part of the Innovation Centre
team, introducing alternative capturing methods in Portuguese television.
Meanwhile, he made several timelapses and hyperlapse for Portuguese tv series and
started a master degree.
Today, Francesco still is part of RTP’s Innovation Centre and keeps going forward
with his project, timelapse.pt and spreading timelapse around Portugal.

Producer of feature films as Effie (2011) or Casanova (2004) and performed documentaries awarded several prizes at film festivals, including winner of the Festival
I Finisterra in 2012.
Miguel Claro
Biography
Miguel Claro is a professional photographer, author and a science communicator
in the Astronomy field. It is also the official astrophotographer of the ‘Dark Sky
Alqueva Reserve’ and member of the photo workshop team ‘Fotonature’. It also
collaborates with the National Geographic Portugal magazine, Ciel et Espace, and
the Astronomy magazine. It’s jury president of the international competition for
night sky photography “Photo Nightscape Award - PNA” held annually in Paris. It
has been a lecturer in two editions of TEDx, in Lisbon and Caldas da Rainha and
is the author of the astronomy and photography book “Astrofotografia - Imagens à
luz das estrelas”, published by Centro Atlântico. His images have traveled the world
and been published in many different media, as well in the most prestigious international magazines and pages as ‘Astronomy Picture of the Day’ NASA.!
Intervention
Being in a privileged point of the solar system, the planet Earth has the necessary properties not only to receive and generates intelligent life, but also to be an
open window of the grandeur that fills with beauty and science, the universe that
surround us. But, technological developments decreased on a large scale our perception of this starry sky that our ancestors would have easily access. To combat
this source of light pollution that daily affects most of large urban centers, the
“Dark Sky Alqueva” reserve was created in Alentejo, being the first region in the
world certified as “Starlight Tourism Destination” by the Starlight Foundation from
UNESCO. Here, you can observe all the celestial dynamic that takes place over
the night in a Time Lapse video or in a static photographic record. Two of the
ways to show to the world, the greatness of the architectural heritage, cultural and
landscape, as an union between heaven and earth, a perfect symbiosis in which
through photographic expression, Beauty, Science and Art, have walked with hands
together, allowing to capture images from celestial and atmospheric phenomenon,
as the Airglow and the Zodiacal Light, the overwhelming and imposing presence
of our galaxy, the Milky Way, which full of star clusters, nebulae emission, gas
and stardust, brings out the dreamy imaginarium of ourselves. Never forgetting the
imposing presence of the Moon, which offers his grace from the Crescent phase, in
which returns a shyly bright smile, up to the time that is full of “courage and light”,
revealing to us the magic and charm of a night in the moonlight.! !!

nature. Here are just 30 of thousands of captured images of the land where it says: “To

Cristián Aguirre Duffourc, Free Lance Photojournalist specialist in Landscape, Mountain and Time-lapse Photography.
He has been living in Barcelona for two years, where he has been pursuing different Graduate Degrees; in Photo-Reportage, Creative Documentary, Multimedia, Time-Lapse
Photography. Profesional Retouch and Travel & Documental Photography. He is a motivated Rock Climber, Mountain Guide and Highliner. He worked with Highline Chile,
and during that time they opened two new zones of Highline in the Chilean Patagonia.
He was raced in the south area of Chile, place where he fell in love with the Photography.
Year by year he became a patient observer of the nature and wild life.
During 2012 he worked as an Expedition Photographer in the Chilean Patagonia, and
also as a Journalist and Photographer of the National Service of Tourism, (Aysén-Patagonia). At that time he developed written and image reports of nature, tourism and
extreme sports. For selling Patagonia as a wonderful tourism destiny for nationtal and
international media. During his stay in Europe, he started a three months journey across
Spain, Italy, and Switzerland, where he produced a free lance Time-Lapse documentary
called “Across Alps and Pyrenees”.
Between years 2012 and 2013 he has published photos and reports for Chilean Advertising, Journals, and Media. Also, he has created images for Billboards, Web pages and
Journals to advertise the Chilean Patagonia at a national and international level.
Before his trip to Europe, he founded “A Vista Expeditions” a Special Interest Tourism
company located in the heart of the Chilean Patagonia.
In both editions of the “National Photography Contest – Chilean Tourism (2010 - 2012)”
he has been on the top winners (third and forth place, respectively).

Pioneira da guitarra portuguesa, a intérprete e compositora Luisa Amaro tem um novo
CD – ARGVS – que vai apresentar numa digressão nacional a iniciar em Maio.
O novo álbum, com dez composições, será lançado em várias plataformas digitais a 7
de Abril e apresentado no Museu do Oriente, em Lisboa, nos dias 22 e 23 de Maio, seguindo‐se uma apresentação no Porto e uma tournée pelo país. Discípula de Mestre Carlos Paredes, que acompanhou em centenas de concertos por todo o mundo, a primeira
mulher a gravar um álbum do emblemático instrumento nacional é acompanhada neste
novo trabalho pelo português Gonçalo Lopes (clarinete baixo), pelo italiano Enrico Bindocci (piano) e pela cantora cipriota Kyriacoula Constantinou (prémio Anguissola‐Scotti
2010 para música de câmara, secção folk, como integrante do Krama Ensemble).
