magma; molten rock located beneath the surface of the Earth.The
underground pressure then causes the water to again rise to the surface,
forming a natural hot spring.
Editor's note
We meet again in this issue of Touche and this time, we wish to bring all our readers and valued members to a new
experience when it comes to vacation.
This issue talks about natural hot springs; one of nature’s wonders which is quite a normal occurrence in our
country. The phenomenon occurs when water that seeps into the Earth is heated by magma. The underground
pressure then causes the water to again rise to the surface, forming natural hot springs. We have quite a number of
popular natural hot springs in Malaysia and in this issue; we will be talking about the Felda Residence Hot Springs in
Sungkai, Perak, which is also one of our newest additions to our Friends of Tanco.

A hot spring
is a spring that is produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater
from the Earth's crust. There are hot springs all over the earth, on every continent and even under the oceans
and seas. There is no universally accepted definition of a hot spring. For example, one can find the phrase
hot spring defined as:
Any geothermal spring.
A spring with water temperatures above its
surroundings.
A natural spring with water temperature above
body temperature – normally between 36.5 °C
(97.7 °F) and 37.5 °C (99.5 °F).
A natural spring with warm water above body
temperature.
A thermal spring with water warmer than 36.7 °C
(98.1 °F).
A natural spring of water greater than 21.1 °C
(70.0 °F) (synonymous with thermal spring).
A natural discharge of groundwater with elevated
temperatures.
A spring with water temperatures above 50 °C
(122 °F).
A type of thermal spring in which hot water is
brought to the surface. The water temperature of
a hot spring is usually 6.5 °C (11.7 °F) or more
above mean air temperature. Note that by this
definition, "thermal spring" is not synonymous
with the term "hot spring".
A spring whose hot water is brought to the
surface (synonymous with a thermal spring). The
water temperature of the spring is usually 8.3 °C
(14.9 °F) or more above the mean air
temperature.
A spring with water above the core human body
temperature – 36.7 °C (98.1 °F).
A spring with water above average ambient
ground temperature, a definition favored by
some.
The water issuing from a hot spring is heated by geothermal heat, i.e., heat from the Earth's interior. In general,
the temperature of rocks within the earth increases with depth. The rate of temperature increase with depth is
known as the geothermal gradient. If water percolates deeply enough into the crust, it will be heated as it comes
into contact with hot rocks. The water from hot springs in non-volcanic areas is heated in this manner.
Hot springs range in flow rate from the tiniest "seeps" to veritable rivers of hot water. Sometimes there is
enough pressure that the water shoots upward in a geyser, or fountain.

Because heated water can hold more dissolved solids, warm and especially hot springs also often have a very
high mineral content, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium. Because of both
the folklore and the claimed medical value some of these springs have, they are often popular tourist
destinations, and locations for rehabilitation clinics for those with disabilities.

A: The anniversary fee, or maintenance fee is the sum payable by members which is used to manage

KOTA BHARU KELANTAN

Kota Bharu (Jawi:‫)ﻭﺭﺍﻩﺏ ﺕﻭﻙ‬, a city in Malaysia, is the state capital and Royal City of Kelantan. It is also the
name of the territory in which Kota Bharu City is situated. The name means 'new city' or 'new castle/fort' in
Malay. Kota Bharu is situated in the northeastern part of Peninsular Malaysia, and lies near the mouth of the
Kelantan River.In 2005, it had an estimated population of 425,294, making it one of the largest towns on the
east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
This northeastern Malaysian city is close to the Thai border, and is home to many mosques. Also of interest
are various museums and the unique architecture of the old royal palace (still occupied by the sultan and
sultanah and off-limits to visitors but viewable from outside) and former royal buildings (which can be visited)
in the center of town.
The City is served by Keretapi Tanah Melayu's East Coast Line at the nearby Wakaf Bharu Station, in the
town of Wakaf Bharu across the Kelantan River.
SHOPPING IN KOTA BHARU
The more famous shopping destination in Kota Bharu is Pasar Siti
Khadijah (Kota Bharu Central Market), where many goods are sold. Most
of the sellers are women. Next to Central Market is the construction of
Kota Bharu Trade Center (KBTC) which will be the largest mall in Kota
Bharu opening soon.
Parkson will be the anchor tenant for this shopping mall. These two
buildings are connected by an overpass on the second floor. Other
shopping centers in Kota Bharu are KB Mall, Pelangi Mall, Kota Seri
Mutiara, and others. A new Tesco hypermarket has opened in 2008.

Most of Kota Bharu's downtown shopping area is currently undergoing a
major reconstruction and several multi-story shopping centers are in their
early construction phases in this vicinity. Other shopping complex will
open soon are two of Mydin Mall, one is located at Bandar Baru Tunjong
on south of Kota Bharu and the other one is located at Bandar Baru
Kubang Kerian on the east. Giant Hypermarket also take place to be
open in Bandar Baru Tunjong.

MALACCA (Malay: Melaka, dubbed as The Historical State or Negeri Bersejarah amongst locals) is the
third smallest Malaysian state, after Perlis and Penang. It is located in the southern region of the Malay
Peninsula, on the Straits of Malacca. It borders Negeri Sembilan to the north and the state of Johor to the
south. The state's capital is Malacca Town. This historical city centre has been listed as a prominent World
Heritage Site of UNESCO since 7 July 2008.
Although Malacca was once one of the oldest Malay sultanates, the state has no Sultan today. Instead, the
head of state is the Yang di-Pertua Negeri or Governor. The historic centre of Malacca was inscribed on the
World Heritage List on 7 July 2008 together with George Town, the capital of Penang. The Malays who are
the original settlers of Malacca since 1400, form the largest community. The Malaccan Malays are rich in
culture from their daily life to the building arts. The famous Malacca Steps or Tangga Melaka are common in
front of many Malay houses in Malacca.Two of the most important museums in Malacca are the Baba
Nyonya Heritage Museum and the Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum.
Malacca is well-known for its food. Most notable of all is the traditional Malay dishes like ikan asam pedas,

HOUSE RULES AND REGULATIONS
We wish to gently remind all our members of the Resort’s House Rules & Regulations and hence, to
avoid any violations in order to have a smooth Check-in Procedures and to respect the other
members/guests staying in the resorts.
A refundable Security Deposit of RM200.00 is required upon check in.
Unit will be determined by the Resort upon check in. Please contact the Resort directly for
any special requests (side by side, any specific level, etc). All requests are subject to the
units’ availability and the Resort’s room occupancy level.
Your room is held until 4.00pm of the check in date. Should you arrive after 4.00pm, please
advise the Resort concerned, failing which the room held will be released automatically.
Please DO NOT EXCEED the maximum number of occupancy allowed in the unit. The
Resort will charge RM50.00 per person per night should the maximum occupancy is
violated.
PETS, DURIAN and PORK is strictly prohibited. The Resort has the right to refuse any
check-ins and should there be any substantiation of the prohibited items detected in the
unit, a cleansing charge of RM100.00 will be imposed and deducted immediately from
your Security Deposit.
The Resort will charge 50% off the rack rate or deduction of one-night points (whichever
applicable) should you wish to check out after 12.00pm, yet no later than 6.00pm on the
same day.
It is important for you and your guests to comply with the existing House Rules &
Regulations during your stay at our resorts. This is to ensure further enjoyment to the other
guests of the resorts as well.
