First two classes of the
NRHA European Affiliate Championship!
Today the first two NRHA European Champions 2012 were crowned at Wiener Neustadt. The EC classes started with the Intermediate
Non Pro and Intermediate Open. Altogether there will be nine European Champions these days who will be awarded the beautiful Trophy, a saddle and buckle all sponsored by Westernstar, a bonus of a pair of boots sponsored by Anderson Bean plus a pair of EZ Wrap
II and a pair of EZ Safety Wrap sponsored by Classic Equine. The Reserve Champions and third place riders will also get a pair of high
quality protective boots sponsored by Classic Equine.
Of course the results of all riders in the EC classes will be added to the total score of each corresponding nation for the NRHA European
Team Championship Competition. The highest placing nation / Affiliate will receive a $ 500 cheque.

Double Success for Cira Baeck:

and Co-Res. Champion
Cira Baeck/BEL & Peek A Boom/Owner Eifel Gold Ranch Baeck
This EC is another milestone for Cira
Baeck (BEL), who has got her second
Open season this year. Aboard the 10-yearold flashy Palomino stallion Peek A Boom
(Boomernic x The Great Escape) owned
by Eifel Gold Ranch, she claimed the Int.
Open European Champion Titel and also
the Co-Reserve Champion title aboard
Gump Wasa Gambler BB (Little Gump x
Ir Country Storm, owner Zoey Kant).
As the first rider, Cira whose LTE are close to $ 400,000 and who was two times
NRHA World Champion Non Pro and
three times NRHA Non Pro European
Champion, scored a 219 with Gump Wasa
Gambler BB. The fourth rider Aldo Lorenzoni (ITA) and Hispanico (Spanish Snapper x Jody Frecles Bar, owner Silvia Frigeri) earned the same score. None of the
following riders could beat that, so that a
run off seemed possible. But Cira had two
more horses in this class, and with her last
horse Peek A Boom she risked everything.
Fine spins (especially the one to the right
which received +1), circles and stops earned her a 220.5. With Peek A Boom, Cira
Baeck was 2008 Non Pro World Champion and earned team silver at the WEG in
Kentucky.
“I’m really happy with him,” said Cira.
“We bought him as a 2-year-old from Bill
Horn. I showed him in the States first and
then here in Europe in many major events.
This show was the first time I showed him
this year, as he is breeding. Peek A Boom
was really sweet in the pen. We needed

Cira and Gump Wasa Gambler BB also
tied for second place with Aldo Lorenzoni
and Hispanico. Gump Wasa Gambler BB
is an 8-year old gelding which was bred
by Cira Baeck. With this horse, she was
2012 NRHA Breeders Derby Open Res.
Champion.
With the 9-year-old American Quarter
Horse gelding Hispanico, Aldo Lorenzoni
won the IRHA Novice Horse Open and the
Intermediate Open at the 2011 ITRHA Futurity. Aldo Lorenzoni works at La Meridiana Quarter Horses Training Facility in Lonate, Como - Italy. Since 1999, he has been
a finalist in all major events in Italy. Aldo
was Reserve Champion Open at the 2004
NRHA European Affiliate Championship.

NRHA European Champion Intermediate
Non Pro title for Switzerland
Last year they were Reserve Champion in
Intermediate Non Pro – this year Gunners
Enterprise and 15-year-old Gina-Maria
claimed the NRHA European Champion
title in this division for Switzerland. In a
field of 27, the two scored a 219 earning
plus points in almost every maneuvre.
Gunners Enterprise is an 8-year-old Bay
Overo American Quarter Horse / American
Paint Horse stallion by Colonels Smokin
Gun out of My Royal Enterprise. The stallion with NRHA LTE of over $ 22,000 was
2007 Congress Futurity Intermediate Open
Finalist and Carolina Classic ABI Futurity
Champion, 2008 Florida Classic Derby Co
Champion, Italian Derby Open and Intermediate Open Finalist 2008 and 2009, Italian Maturity Intermediate Open Reserve
Champion 2009 and Rein O Mania 4 yo
Futurity Champion. With Gina-Maria in
the saddle, the horse won the Intermediate Non Pro at the 2011 NRHA European
Futurity and the 2012 23 Classic. “I’m so
happy,” Gina-Maria said afterwards. “We
worked very hard for the last three months,
and Gunners Enterprise got better and better. He was simply great. But without my
Mom and our trainer Shauna Larcombe we
would not have come so far.“
Two riders tied for second place: Fenna
Elzinga (NED) aboard Smoking Kills and
Jessica Sternberg (GBR) aboard Spook A
Little, both scoring a 218. Smoking Kills
is a 6-year-old stallion by Lil Dry Peppy
out of Gun Smoke Dennis which was bred
by Torsten Tiemann. Fenna got the horse
in 2007. Their achievements include the
NRHA Breeders Futurity Champion and
DQHA Reining Futurity Champion title in
2009, third at the 2011 FEI World Reining
Finals (Restr. Div.) and NRHA European
Champion Intermediate Non Pro 2009 and
2011.
Spook a Little (Smart Spook x Jessie
Wright On) was bred by Jessica’s mother
Rosanne Sternberg. The 6-year-old stallion
was 2009 NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH
Open Champion with Rudi Kronsteiner
in the saddle. 22-year-old Jessica Sternberg was 2009 NRHA European Affiliate
Champion in Limited Non Pro and Reserve
Affiliate Champion Limited Open as well
as finalist in all Non Pro divisions at the
NRBC Derby.

Another big success for the 7-year-old
stallion Whizoom: after winning the
Intermediate Open with Alessia Vincenzi in the saddle (144), the Topsail
Whiz-son proved his class again the
next day – this time in the rookie with
his owner Jennifer Nixdorf. The two
had a fine run earning plus points in the
Nina Dan/AUT & Starbucks Legacy
spins and the first and last stop. They
left the arena with a score of 142.5 winning this class in a field of 43 riders.

Jac placed second scoring a 140..
It was not the first success of Jennifer
and Whizoom, who had NRHA LTE
of more than $ 27,000 before the show
and was e.g. NRHA European Futurity
Champion Ltd. Open. In 2011, Jennifer, who trains with Rudi Kronsteiner
now, won the Youth with this horse
at the EquitaLyon in France and also
placed well in the Non Pro Trophy. At
the IRHA-NRHA Derby they placed
5th in Novice Horse Non Pro Lev.2.

Alissa Leloux (NED) and Wimpys Short
Step BB did it again: after winning the
NRHA SBH 5 & under Non Pro, the two
also placed first in Limited Non Pro in a
field of 19.
Wimpys Short Step BB earned plus points
in the second spin and the stops, scoring a
total of 143.5.
The success of Alissa and her horse were
even more remarkable as this was the fifth
time she rode Wimpys Short Step BB as
she said. Alissa who trains with Cira
Baeck, was 2011 NRHA European Champion Youth 14-18.

Anne Grether/NED & Lil USS Peppy/ Owner Dr. Paul Van Hooft
The Limited Open was won by Anne
Grether (NED) aboard Lil USS Peppy
(Lil Ruf Peppy x USS Enterprise). The
two scored a 211.5 earning plus points
on their left spin and the second circle for
owner Dr. Paul Van Hooft. Lil USS Peppy
was shown very successfully last year by
Miriam Gensicke who rode this horse to
the NRHA European Champion Limited
Open 2011.
With only half a point behind, Barbara
Hengge (AUT) and Falkorima placed second (211). The horse is owned by Andreas Lukner who also bred the SBH 5 &
under Open winner Jacs Smart Freckles.
