Applikationen und Accessoires auf uns zukommt, konnte ich nicht
widerstehen, sie zu machen. Schon beim Entwerfen habe ich mir
Sorgen gemacht, ob dieser Arbeitsanfall zu bewältigen ist, denn
jede Applikation ist doppelt genäht und sie müssen mit einem
Stäbchen gewendet werden, damit die Konturen auch richtig
rauskommen.
Um nur eine Zahl zu
nennen: Wir müssen
ca. 40.000 kleine
Teile einzeln per Hand
zuschneiden. Das sind
ca. 20.000 genähte
Teile, die gewendet
und, wie gesagt,
deren Nähte mit
einem Stäbchen von
innen nachgezogen werden, damit die Applikationen exakt so
werden, wie Sie sie hier im Katalog sehen. Anschließend werden
sie mit Sternchenstichen von unseren fleißigen Näherinnen, per
Handführung mit der Maschine aufgenäht.
Dann kommen noch die 1.131 Filzblüten dazu, die insgesamt
7.540 Teile haben, die alle einzeln zugeschnitten und dann noch
mit der Hand zusammengenäht und schön in Form gebracht
werden müssen.
Ich habe in diesem Jahr eine kleine Sommer Kinder
Kollektion gemacht, die Ihnen ganz sicher viel Freude
bereiten wird.
Ilvi, Lihle, Milla und Margeli haben die gewohnten
Oberarmgelenke. Bei Toki und Shilin, den Vollgelenk Sommer
Kindern, erwartet Sie eine große
Überraschung.
Die beiden habe ich zusätzlich mit
einem Hüftgelenk modelliert. Sie
können sich nach allen Seiten, nach
vorn und nach hinten drehen und
bewegen. Und wie Sie auf den Fotos
sehen können, sind sie sogar nackt
schön anzusehen.
Wenn Ihnen das Hüftgelenk gefällt,
werde ich die zwei Vollgelenk
Sommer Kinder auch in Zukunft mit
einem Hüftgelenk modellieren.

Die sechs sind einfach zum Fressen
süß. Jede ist für sich einmalig und
jede hat passend zu ihrem Typ ein wunderschönes Outfit
bekommen. Trotz der vielen Arbeit, die mit den aufwändigen
This year I have made a small Sommer Kinder collection, which
I’m sure you’ll enjoy very much.
Ilvi, Lihle, Milla and Margeli feature the usual upper arm joints.
But Toki and Shilin, the fully jointed Sommer Kinder, have a special
surprise in store for you.
I’ve modelled these two dolls
with an additional hip joint.
They can twist and bend to
the side or the front or back.
And as you’ll see on the
photographs, they’re even
lovely to look at naked.
If you like the new hip joint
I will continue to model it
for the fully jointed Sommer
Kinder in the future.
The six dolls are sweet
enough to eat. Each one of
them is unique and wears
a wonderful outfit to match
her personality. I just couldn’t resist to design the clothes with all
their elaborate appliqués and accessories, despite all the work that
awaits us manufacturing them. I got really worried during the design
process that the work, making the dresses could be more than we can
manage in the production process – each of the appliqués is sewed
in two layers and has to be turned using sticks so all the shapes turn
out beautifully.
Just to throw in some numbers: we have to cut out about 40,000
individual little pieces by hand, which will make about 20,000
finished pieces, which as already mentioned will be turned once
sewn and the seams are traced and pushed out using sticks, so all
appliqués end up looking like you can see them in the catalogue.
Once each item is finished it
will be fixed to the dress with
star-stitches, which our busy
sewers apply manually using
a sewing machine.
And then there are the 1,131
felt blossoms that consist of
7,540 pieces in total, which
have to be hand cut, handsewn and brought into shape
beautifully.
Die gesamte Kleidung ist sehr aufwändig. Jedes Outfit hat ca.
60—70 Teile, die zugeschnitten werden müssen. Zwei haben
sogar 80—90 Teile. Durch die vielen Schnittteile ist der Fall
der Kleidung ganz speziell. Sie können die Kleider selbst in
Bewegung bringen und sie bleiben dort, wohin Sie sie haben
wollen.
The whole clothes collection
is very elaborate. Each outfit
consists of 60—70 parts
that have to be cut out. Two
outfits even consist of 80—90
parts. Owing to the many
pattern elements the flow of
the garments is very special. You can get movement into the dress by
draping it and it will stay in that position.

Zu den Hauttönen möchte ich noch ein paar Worte sagen. Sie
haben die Codierung SK F1—SK F4. SK heißt Sommer Kinder – F
ist der Buchstabe für 2007 und die Zahlen sind die Abstufungen
der Hauttöne. 1 ist der hellste – 4 ist der dunkelste. Wobei die
Farben nichts mit den schon vorhandenen F1—F5 Hauttönen
zu tun haben. Die SK Farben sind NEU. Auch zart in den
Abstufungen, aber anders.
I would also like to say a few words about the skin tones. They are
coded SK F1—SK F4. SK stands for Sommer Kinder – F is the initial
for 2007 and the numbers represent the different hews, 1 being
the lightest and 4 the darkest. These Sommer Kinder colours have
nothing to do with the existing F1—F5 skin tones. The SK skin colours
are all NEW. Also subtle in the gradings, but different.
Das ist eine der Besonderheiten meiner Puppen. Ich entwickle
für jede Kollektion neue Vinyl-Farben. Auch wenn die
Abstufungen sanft sind, ist die Wirkung doch merkbar. Und die
Handbemalung, die ich auch in jeder Kollektion verändere,
unterstreicht die neuen Gesichter und damit die ganz Puppe.

This is one of the unique things about my dolls. I develop new vinyl
colours for all new collections. Even though the grading is very
subtle, the effect is noticeable. And the hand-painting technique that
I change for every collection, underline the faces and thus each doll
on the whole.

Four of this years dolls include the usual upper
arm joints, but Toki and Shilin, the fully jointed
Sommer Kinder, also feature an additional
hip joint. As you can see they are more
manouverable than ever before.
