Prinz Namor und Prinzessin Mera laden ein zu ihrer
Versprechensfeier.
Prince Namor and Princess Mera are extending invitations to
their pledging ritual.
In Atlantis geben sich die Kinder, die sich mögen, mit 11 Jahren
das Versprechen nach Ablauf von 7 Jahren zu heiraten. Dieses
Versprechen wird immer groß gefeiert. Und natürlich steht ganz
Atlantis Kopf, wenn das Prinzenpaar sich das Versprechen gibt.
In Atlantis, children who like each other, promise at the age of
11 to get married before the end of 7 years. This promise is
always celebrated in a big way. And of course all of Atlantis is
topsy turvy when a Prince and Princess are pledging themselves
to each other.
Prinz Namor und Prinzessin Mera haben ihre Freunde und
Freundinnen eingeladen und alle sind gekommen von den nah
und fern liegenden Inseln.
Alle Wassergeister-Schneiderwerkstätten im weiten Umkreis
waren völlig überlastet, um die vielen Sonderwünsche der
lebendigen Partygesellschaft zu erfüllen.
Prince Namor and Princess Mera have invited all their friends,
and everybody has come from the near and the far islands.
All the water-ghostly tailor workshops in the vicinity were
hopelessly overworked in order to fulfill all the special orders by
the lively partygoers.
Die Wasserraupen in den Seegrasspinnereien konnten gar nicht
nachkommen, die vielen dünnen Fäden zu spinnen, um die
duftigen Tülle und Stoffe der Ballkleider der Mädchen fertig zu
bekommen.
In den Muschelhaarsalons der Meerjungfrauen konnte
man es kaum aushalten, so groß war die Aufregung, die
wunderschönen und sehr komplizierten Frisuren zu frisieren.
Jedes Mädchen wollte eine andere, noch schönere Frisur
und als Krönung bekam fast jedes Mädchen noch einen
losen Haarzopf, speziell für sie angefertigt, in ihre Frisur
eingearbeitet.
Prinzessin Mera hatte allen vorgeschlagen, das es doch lustig
und etwas ganz Besonderes wäre, wenn sie alle zu ihrer Feier
ein Haarteil eingeflochten bekämen. So etwas hatte noch
keiner vor ihnen und alle freuten sich darauf und zeigten stolz
ihre aufregend schön frisierten Haare.
Anschließend drängelten sich die Kinder mit ihren feinen
Kleidern und traumhaften Frisuren im Korallenspiegelsaal der
Meerjungfrauen Visagistinnen.
Alle bekamen ein aufregendes Festtags-Make-up. Die Augen
und Lippen der Festtagsgäste wurden mit Goldpunkten
verziert und die Wangen bekamen über das Rouge einen
zarten Perlmuttschimmer, den die Langusten in ihren
Austernwerkstätten aus Perlmuttmuscheln mit Mörsern zu einem
feinen Perlmuttstaub zermalen haben.
Nach getaner Arbeit sanken die
Meerjungfrauen erschöpft auf ihre
Muschelstühle und betrachteten voller
Stolz und Freude ihre Kunstwerke.
Und nicht zu vergessen, die Heerscharen von Seepferdchen,
die für jeden der Kinder die farbenfrohen Netze geknüpft
haben, die in die Ballkleider eingearbeitet sind. Den Schmuck,
der in die Netze eingebunden wird, mussten sie von den
verschiedensten Inseln besorgen. Von der Muschelinsel die
Muscheln, von der Seesterninsel kommen die Seesterne, von
der Seeroseninsel die Blumen und aus den Kunstwerkstätten
der Seepferdchen kommen natürlich die Seepferdchen.
Die Regenbogenfische in ihren Kunstgalerien übernahmen das
Bemalen des Netzschmuckes, denn in jedes der Netze werden
goldene Muscheln und andere schöne Dinge eingenäht.
Die Mädchen und Jungen bestaunten sich gegenseitig und das
Geschnatter war bis in den Palast zu hören. Alle Kinder waren
gespannt, wie wohl das Brautpaar aussieht, was beide anhaben
und wie sie ihre Haare frisiert bekommen. Die Spannung war
riesengroß und alle freuten sich wahnsinnig auf die tolle Feier.
So ein Anlass wie das Versprechen des Prinzenpaares ist für alle
so außergewöhnlich, dass alle es noch gar nicht richtig fassen
können wie wunderschön sie alle hergerichtet wurden und die
Spannung ist fast unerträglich.
Die Seepferdchenmuschelkutschen stehen schon alle bereit, um
die Partygesellschaft in den Palast zu bringen.

The water-caterpillars in the sea grass spinning workshops were
hardly able to keep up spinning all the filigree threads that will
make the airy tulles and fabrics for the girls’ unique dresses.
It was almost impossible to bear the tension in the shell hair
salons for all the excitement about the wonderful and very
complicated hairstyles that were in the process of being made.
Each girl wanted to look different and more beautiful than the
other. As the pièce de résistance each of them got a loosely
worked in hair plait that was especially designed for each
individual hairstyle.
It was Princess Mera’s suggestion that it would be fun and quite
special for all of them to wear a hairpiece to her party. Non of
them had ever had anything like it before so they all showed off
their exciting and beautiful hairstyles to each other.
After the hair dresser’s they all crammed into the coral mirror
hall in their beautiful dresses and with their beautiful hair, for
the mermaid beautician. They all received a gorgeous festive
make up. The guests’ eyes and lips were dotted with gold
and their cheeks got a mother-of-pearl shimmer on top of the
blusher. This has been made by the lobsters in their oyster
workshops, where they crush mother-of-pearl oysters in their
pestle and mortars to the finest dust.
When all the work was done the mermaids
sank exhausted into their shell chairs and
looked happily and proudly upon their
works of art.
Let’s not forget about the armies of seahorses that made all the
colorful nets that have been worked into all the special dresses.
The jewelry that is worked into the nets they had to collect
from different islands. The shells from Shell Island, the starfish
from Starfish Island, the flowers from Lily Pad Island and the
seahorses come from the seahorses’ workshops. The rainbow
fishes took on the job of coloring the net jewelry in their art
galleries, because net will have golden shells and other lovely
things sewn onto it.
The girls and boys admired each other and their chitchat could
be heard all the way to the palace. All the children couldn’t
wait to see what the prince and princess would look like!
What would they wear and what would their hair look like?
The tension was high and they were so excited about going to
the great party. The pledging ritual of a Prince and a Princess
is such an unusual and big event that they all still couldn’t
believe it was really happening – and they couldn’t believe how
beautiful they all were. The air was tense enough to burst. Now
the seahorse carriages stand waiting to take the party to the
palace.

Envenarius Octopus and his assistant Joanira Rainbowstar.
They exclaimed anxiously: ‘What are we supposed to do now?’
‘Every time it really counts the Seahorse Express is delayed!’
Sie liefen in ihren Hemdchen aufgeregt herum und drängelten
sich mit den anderen Kindern um den Hoffotografen Envenarius
Octopus und seiner Assistentin Joanira Regenbogenstern. Sie
riefen ganz aufgeregt: „Was sollen wir denn jetzt ohne Kleider
machen?“ Und schimpften gleich darauf auf den Seepferdchen
Express: „Immer wenn es wichtig ist, haben die Verspätung!“
Envenarius und Joanira hatten ihre liebe Not und nicht genug
Arme, um die ganze Bande im Zaum zu halten.
„Die beiden haben uns getröstet und uns versprochen, dass jeder
von uns eine Extra-Seite im Fotoalbum für die Versprechensfeier
bekommt und zusätzlich noch andere schöne Fotos, die unsere
Gesichter zeigen. Und die Designerin Annerete Himmelsfaden
hat uns dann noch gesagt, dass unsere Kleider besonders
schön geworden sind und dass wir auf der Ozean Messe einen
umwerfenden Atlantis Stand haben werden und wir uns dort
alle in unserer ganzen Pracht zeigen können. Jetzt sind wir alle
beruhigt und freuen uns auf das, was noch kommt.“

‘The two consoled us and they promised that each of us will
feature on a special page in the photo album of the pledging
ritual and on top of that we’ll get other lovely portraits of us
that’ll beautifully show off our faces. And the designer Annerete
Heaventhread has told us about our dresses, that they turned
out especially beautiful and that we’ll get a stunning Atlantis
booth at the Ocean Fair and that that’s where we can show
ourselves off in all our splendour. Now we’ve calmed down we
can look forward to what’s there to come.’

Es war einmal… oder vielleicht auch
nicht! Was macht das schon. Träumen
und die Fantasie spielen zu lassen, tut
der Seele gut. Und diese wird von der
neuen Kollektion sanft gestreichelt.
Man spürt förmlich den Sand des sagenumwobenen Atlantis
unter den Füßen und wie durch eine Glasglocke sieht man
das unendliche blaue Meer, welches die Insel umspült. Und
weiter entdeckt man die vielen Bewohner des Inselreiches,
die in unserer Geschichte in den letzten Wochen vor der
Versprechensfeier sehr viel Arbeit hatten – und natürlich die
aufgeregten Kinder, die so prachtvoll hergerichtet wurden.
Annerete Himmelsfaden erzählt Ihnen einen kleinen Teil der
umfangreichen Arbeiten, damit Sie sich vorstellen können, was
in Atlantis geschehen ist.
Es sind 34 Puppen und 25 verschiedene Köpfe in dieser
Kollektion und die Gliedmaßen sind alle neu modelliert. Es
sind sehr unterschiedliche Gesichter und Puppentypen und
was ganz bemerkenswert ist: in dieser Kollektion hat fast keine
Puppe dunkle Haare, weil es einfach nicht zu ihnen passte. Es
ist fast so, als wenn sie wirklich aus Atlantis stammen würden
– zumindest stelle ich es mir so vor.
Die Frisuren – fast kann man sie so nicht nennen – sind wahre
Kunstwerke und so individuell auf jedes Gesicht und die
Kleidung abgestimmt, dass man sich wirklich daran erfreuen
kann. Und ganz einmalig und sehr witzig gemacht sind die
kleinen Zöpfe, die als Haarteil in die vielen anderen Zöpfe
eingebunden sind. Auf den ersten Blick kann man gar nicht
erkennen, welcher Zopf „angewachsen“ und welcher lose ist.
Jede Perücke und jedes Zopfhaarteil hat verschiedenfarbige
Haarsträhnen, die der Frisur noch zusätzlich Aussagekraft
geben. Es ist einmalig aufregend und noch nie da gewesen.
Die Bemalung ist in diesem Jahr ganz außergewöhnlich. Jedes
„Kind“ bekommt goldene Punkte auf die Augenlider und
Lippen. Die Augenbrauen haben 4 Farben, unter anderem
auch Gold, die alle aufeinander abgestimmt sind und zusätzlich
liegt ein zarter Perlmuttschimmer auf der Gesichtshaut.

And it’s that which is gently caressed by
the new collection.
You can practically feel the sand of the legendary Atlantis under
your feet and as if looking through a glass bowl you can see
the endless sea, which washes around the island. And further
you’ll discover the many inhabitants of the island kingdom, who
were extremely busy in the last few weeks of our story leading
up to the Pledging Ritual – and of course the excited children
who were dressed and made up so beautifully. Annerete
Heaventhread will be talking you through some of the detail of
the extensive work that was done, so you get an idea what went
on in Atlantis.
There are 34 dolls and 25 different heads in this collection and
the limbs have all been newly modelled. The faces characters
are very different. What’s very remarkable is the fact that there
are hardly any dolls with dark hair. It just wouldn’t suit them. It
is almost as if they all really come from Atlantis – at least that’s
how I imagine it.
The hairstyles – you almost can’t call them that – are true works
of art and so closely matched to each face and the clothes
that it’s a real delight looking at them. Very unique and much
fun are the little plaits that have been added as hairpieces
that have been worked into the many other plaits. On first
inspection it’s almost impossible to distinguish the ‘grown’ from
the loose plaits. Each of the wigs and each of the hairpieces
have differently coloured strands of hair, which give the
hairstyle even more expression. It is uniquely exciting and never
seen before.
The painting this year is exceptional. Each ‘child’ gets golden
dots onto their eyelids and lips. The eyebrows comprise four
colours that have all been carefully matched, one of which is
gold. In addition to that there’s a mother-of-pearl shimmer on
the facial skin.

ganz außergewöhnlich. Jedes
„Kind“ bekommt goldene Punkte
auf die Augenlider und Lippen.
Very unique and fun are the little
plaits that have been added as
hairpieces and have been worked
into the many other plaits.
Each of the wigs and hairpieces
have differently coloured strands
of hair, which give the hairstyle
even more expression.
The painting this year is
exceptional. Each ‘child’ gets
golden dots onto their eyelids and
lips.
Die Schuhe und Sandalen sind wieder gänzlich „Annerete
Himmelsfaden“ Design.
The shoes and sandals are once again pure Annerete
Heaventhread design.
Die Kleidung – mit einem Gesamtverbrauch an Tüll von ca.
120.000 m und Netzen von ca. 15.000 m für die gesamte
Kollektion – ist ebenso einmalig wie alles andere auch. Jedes
Kleid ist so prächtig und trotzdem total witzig gemacht. In allen
Kleidern ist Tüll verarbeitet, aber kein einziges ist dadurch
langweilig. Denn jedes ist individuell auf das einzelne „Kind“
zugeschnitten. Jedes Kind trägt eine lange Hose, jeweils mit Tüll
überlegt. An den Hosensäumen sind handgehäkelte Spitzen,
die hier in der Manufaktur gefärbt werden. Darüber hat jedes
Mädchen ein Tüllunterkleid an, das mit einem Blümchentüll
überlegt ist. Darüber kommt das Tülloberkleid. Und darüber
kommt dann das Mieder. Die Ärmel sind lose und werden mit
Blümchentüllbändern an das Kleid festgebunden. Übrigens sind
alle Nähte an jedem Kleid mit Tüllrüschen überlegt.
Wir haben insgesamt ca. 145 Eigenfarben in dieser Kollektion,
die dann nach unseren Farbmustern exklusiv angefertigt
werden.
Die meisten Kleider haben noch zusätzlich Blütenranken oder
Blumensträußchen in die Tüllröcke eingearbeitet.
Prinzessin Mera hat auf ihrem unteren Rock eine Blütenranke.
Ihr Brautkleid besteht aus 6 übereinander liegenden Tüllröcken
in der Farbreihenfolge Weiß, Flieder, Hellblau, Rosa, Hellblau
und Weiß. Jeder Rock hat 16 Bahnen, die alle mit Tüllrüschen
verziert sind. Durch die verschiedenen Farblagen der Röcke
schimmert das Kleid in sanften Regenbogenfarben.
Auf ihrem einlagigen zusätzlichen Tüllunterkleid hat sie eine
kleine Tasche am Saum, in der kleine Vergissmeinnichtblüten
versteckt sind. Die Blüten auf dem Mieder, den Ärmelstulpen
und den Rocktäschchen von Prinzessin Mera werden hier in der
Manufaktur mit Metall- und Perlmuttfarbe handgemalt.
Im Ganzen müssen wir ca. 5.700 Blüten mit Blättern und noch
zusätzlich ca. 1.500 einzelne Blätter auf den Stoff malen. Und
an die 16.000 – 20.000 kleine Blüten für die Kleine Mera darf
ich gar nicht denken.
The clothes – with a total use of approximately 120,000 m /
130,000 yds of tulle and approximately 15,000 m / 16,500
yds of netting for the entire collection – are just as unique as
everything else. Each dress is so sumptious and still has so
many fun details. All dresses feature tulle, but not a single
one is boring because of it. Because each of them has been
designed individually for one particular ‘child’ in mind. Each
child is wearing a long pair of trousers, which is layered with
tulle. The seams feature hand-crocheted lace, which has been
hand-dyed here in the manufactory. Over that each girl is
wearing a tulle under garment, which itself is layered with a
floral tulle. On top of that they wear the tulle top dress, and
finally the camisole. The sleeves are loose and tied to the dress
with floral tulle ribbons. By the way all the seams on all the
dresses are covered by tulle frills.

All in all we have to hand-paint about 5,700 blossoms and
1,500 individual leaves onto the fabrics. And I better not start
thinking about the 16,000 to 20,000 tiny blossoms for Kleine
Mera...
We’re using about 145 different colours that we made ourselves
and that will be exclusively dyed according to our samples.
In addition most dresses feature flower tendrils and bouquets
that are worked into the tulle skirts.
Princess Mera has a flower tendril on her undermost skirt. Her
wedding dress consists of 6 layered tulle skirts in the colour
sequence of white, lilac, pale blue, pink, pale blue and white.
Each skirt has 16 panels, which are all seemed with tulle frills.
Because of the multicoloured layers of the skirts the dress
shimmers in soft rainbow colours.
There is a little pocket at the hemline of Princess Mera’s single
layered lowermost skirt, which is filled with tiny forget-me-not
blossoms. The blossoms on her camisole, the cuff-sleeves and
the skirt pockets are hand-painted with metallic and mother-ofpearl paints here in Paderborn.

Bitte setzten Sie Ihr Himstedt Kind keiner intensiven
Bestrahlung durch Sonneneinwirkung oder Strahler aus.
Haare, Kleidung und Schuhe bleichen sonst aus. Außerdem
können Verbrennungen im Vinyl entstehen. Vermeiden Sie auch
intensive Hitzeeinwirkung.
Please do not subject your Himstedt Kinder to intense sunlight or
spot lights as this is likely to bleach her hair, clothes and shoes
and might also produce burns on the vinyl. Please also avoid
exposing your doll to prolonged excessive heat.
Wenn Sie Ihr Himstedt Kind reinigen möchten, verwenden
Sie bitte keinen Alkohol, Lösungsmittel oder sonstige
Reinigungsmittel. Die Dekoration bzw. Bemalung kann
verwischen oder sogar ganz abgerieben werden. Verwenden
Sie einfach nur klares Wasser und ein weiches Tuch.
Wir behalten uns Abweichungen in Farben, Stoffen, Schuhen,
Augen, Perücken und Wimpern vor. Bitte denken Sie daran,
dass unsere Himstedt Kinder mit Sorgfalt und Liebe in
Handarbeit hergestellt werden. Alles was in Handarbeit
hergestellt wird, ist ein Unikat – denn der Mensch ist keine
Maschine.

If you would like to clean your Himstedt Kinder, do not use
alcohol, solvents or other cleaning agents. This could cause the
colouring to smear or rub off altogether. Simply use clear water
and a soft cloth.
The colours, fabrics, shoes, eyes, wigs and eyelashes are subject
to change. Please remember that every Himstedt Kinder has
been hand-crafted with loving care and anything made by hand
is unique – because man is not a machine.
