6th EONS Spring Convention Geneva 2008
What better environment to share new ways of working and innovation in cancer nursing than
Geneva, renowned for science and progressive thinking. This is the perfect setting to share
updates on treatment and new approaches to managing cancer care in a rapidly changing
health care environment. The European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) and the National
Society of Switzerland (SONS) invite you to the 6th Spring Convention to discuss and welcome
innovation.
New ways of working are often generated when circumstances change. While good ideas
are interesting, innovation is different. It takes good ideas, tests them and implements them
successfully into clinical practice. Change is occurring at a rapid rate in cancer care. In many
European countries cancer services are now being provided primarily in an ambulatory
or outpatient setting with subsequent change of resources. Therefore, it is essential to not
only refresh knowledge of existing and new therapies, but also to explore developments in
how to manage care for the person and family within a range of care settings. Furthermore,
nurses are increasingly working in new roles, for example advanced nursing practice. This
raises questions of how cancer nursing should develop and what roles nurses should delegate
without detracting from high quality care. This Spring Convention 2008 introduces ideas of
change, of advanced practice and practice development.
As a team we have built upon the successes of past spring conventions and we have added
more educational and interactive sessions, as well as varied clinical update symposia. We
have tried to balance the variety of instructional methods, including plenary lectures by invited
speakers and selected proffered papers on topics related to the theme. Discussion forums and
workshop-related activities will ensure the educational and interactive approach throughout
the convention.

Research Workshop

Research makes a difference to practice: demystifying research
Objectives
The aim of this workshop is to help practitioners understand the research process and to
assist them in using research to change cancer practice. Innovation is about change. Therefore
research is an important tool in developing nursing interventions. This symposium is aimed
at those who are novices to research and feel uncomfortable or uncertain with how research
is undertaken. Research is not something carried out in isolation and clinicians are essential
in guiding the research agenda, developing questions, influencing practice and initiating
practice development. Knowledge and understanding comes from finding out more about
patient experiences, often in very difficult areas. Cancer knowledge is expanding and also the
interventions, symptom management and prolonged cancer journey. Research and evidence
is just one of the tools in providing quality care.
Target group: who should apply?
Nurses who feel they are novices to research will find this workshop relevant. If you are
interested in research and if you find searching for evidence baffling and confusing, this is the
workshop for you. Come with topic areas that you have found difficult to search and research
questions that puzzle you. Through this workshop we will guide you in developing research
questions for practice. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss
their ideas and challenges in relation to research and finding relevant evidence.

Fellowships

The EONS Spring Convention Committee will award a number of fellowship grants to nurses
from countries with limited resources to attend the Spring Convention in Geneva, Switzerland.
Applicants should submit a short CV and a letter explaining the benefit for them to attend
the Spring Convention. The application should be accompanied by a letter from the Head
of Department stating that the applicant is not the recipient of any other financial support.
Applicants must be fluent in English/French and/or German.
Fellowship applications should be submitted by e-mail to [email protected] before
expiration of the deadline of 17 December 2007.

Each fellowship will include:

Free registration to the meeting

Free accommodation in one of the selected hotels (arriving Wednesday and leaving Sunday)

Free admission to the Presidential dinner on Friday evening

500 EUR travel grant – to meet the travel expenses. The 500 EUR will be paid after the
conference upon submission of receipts.
The Organising Committee will decide on the recipients of such fellowship grants. Successful
applicants will be notified in the course of January 2008.
General information
Accommodation
Kuoni Destination Management has been appointed as the official local housing partner for
EONS-6 and is offering hotel accommodation for both groups and individuals. Rooms will
be allocated on a “first come, first served“ basis. Kuoni holds allocations of hotel rooms at
advantageous rates in various price categories in Geneva and the near surroundings.
We strongly advise all participants to reserve their hotel accommodation as soon as possible.
Please fill in one reservation form for each booking. Hotel reservation deadline is 15 February
2008. Booking received after 15 February 2008 will be subject to availability.
Reservation will only be confirmed if the credit card details are fully supplied. IMPORTANT: to
guarantee the reservation 1 night’s deposit is required, either by bank transfer or credit card.
Each participant will receive an individual confirmation form, indicating the name and address
of the hotel. The booking will be final upon guarantee by credit card.

Confirmation of registration

Cancellation of registration
Cancellations of confirmed registrations are subject to a charge of 75 EUR per participant
provided the cancellation is received before 14 March 2008. For cancellations received after
this date no refunds will be made.

Group registration
Companies that would like to sponsor the registration fees of a group of participants attending
the Spring Convention should contact Riitta Kettunen ([email protected]) at the
EONS-6 secretariat. A group consists of minimum 10 persons. Smaller groups will be handled
as individual registrations. Registration shall be coordinated by one identified group contact
person representing a pharmaceutical/product company or travel agent.
Social programme
Welcome reception
The Welcome reception will be organised on Thursday 27 March 2008 from 18:30 to 20:00
and will take place in the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG).
Presidential dinner
On the occasion of the Spring Convention, a Presidential dinner is organised on Friday 28
March 2008, 19:30. The dinner will take place at the Attique Restaurant at OMM, in Geneva.
Cost: 50 EUR
Guided tours
EONS and Kuoni have especially prepared tours for the conference attendees and their
accompanying persons. Reservations should be made by 15 February 2008, together with full
payment of all reserved tours for the total number of persons.

6E Convention de printemps EONS Genève 2008
La ville de Genève, dont l’esprit scientifique et l’avant-gardisme ne sont plus à démontrer, ne
constitue-t-elle pas un cadre idéal pour aborder ensemble les nouvelles méthodes de travail et
l’innovation dans le domaine de l’infirmerie en oncologie ? Peut-on rêver environnement mieux adapté
aux échanges sur l’actualisation des traitements et les nouvelles approches des soins en oncologie
dans un milieu de soins en mutation rapide ? La Société européenne d’infirmerie en oncologie
(European Oncology Nursing Society - EONS) et la Société Suisse d’infirmerie en oncologie (SONS)
vous invitent à venir discuter et saluer l’innovation en participant à la 6e Convention de printemps.
Souvent, l’évolution des situations entraîne l’apparition de nouvelles méthodes de travail. Les bonnes
idées ont un intérêt évident, mais l’innovation va beaucoup plus loin. Elle s’empare des bonnes idées, les
teste, puis les met en œuvre avec succès dans la pratique clinique. Le domaine des soins en oncologie
évolue rapidement. Dans de nombreux pays européens, les soins sont aujourd’hui essentiellement
prodigués en ambulatoire ou en externe, avec l’évolution de l’utilisation des ressources que cela
entraîne. Il s’avère donc non seulement essentiel de rafraîchir ses connaissances sur les traitements
existants et les nouveaux traitements, mais également d’explorer les avancées en matière de gestion
des soins aux patients et aux familles dans différents environnements. En outre, les infirmiers et
infirmières sont de plus en plus souvent amenés à assumer de nouveaux rôles professionnels, par
exemple la pratique de soins de nature médicale. Voilà qui suscite des interrogations sur l’orientation
de l’évolution de l’infirmerie en oncologie et les rôles que les infirmiers et infirmières doivent déléguer
sans que l’excellence des soins n’en soit compromise. Cette Convention de printemps 2008 aborde
les
concepts de changement, de pratique médicale et d’évolution de la pratique.
En tant qu’équipe, nous avons tiré des enseignements des succès des précédentes Conventions
de printemps ; nous avons augmenté le nombre de séances interactives de formation, ainsi
que celui des symposiums sur les diverses avancées cliniques. Nous nous sommes efforcés
d’équilibrer les méthodes de formation utilisées, incluant des conférences plénières par des
orateurs invités et la lecture d’exposés sélectionnés portant sur des sujets liés à la thématique
de la Convention. Et pour l’approche interactive et formatrice, des forums de discussion et des
activités liées aux ateliers seront organisés tout au long de ces trois jours.

Cette année, la conférence propose également une séance de formation à la recherche
à l’attention des novices: cette séance d’introduction s’adresse à tous ceux qui ne sont pas
familiarisés avec les méthodes de recherche.
Le programme proposé cette année est conçu pour aider les infirmiers et les infirmières à
développer la pratique des soins en oncologie et à mettre en œuvre le changement. Cette
6e Convention de printemps s’annonce comme une excellente opportunité d’exploration, de
partage, d’implication et de participation à l’art de l’infirmerie en oncologie en Europe.

Objectifs
Cet atelier a pour but d’aider les infirmiers et infirmières à comprendre le processus de recherche
et de leur apprendre à l’utiliser pour modifier la pratique en oncologie. L’innovation encourage
le changement. C’est pourquoi la recherche est un outil important pour le développement de
l’infirmerie. Ce symposium s’adresse à tous les novices en matière de recherche, à ceux qui
se demandent comment l’aborder. La recherche n’est pas une activité solitaire ; les cliniciens y
jouent un rôle essentiel, qu’il s’agisse d’orienter le calendrier de recherche, de faire émerger des
questions, d’influencer la pratique ou d’initier son développement. Le savoir et la compréhension
naissent d’une meilleure connaissance de l’expérience du patient, souvent dans des domaines
très difficiles. On en sait de plus en plus sur les cancers, ainsi que sur les interventions, la prise
en charge des symptômes et la prolongation du parcours des patients cancéreux. La recherche
et les preuves ne sont qu’un des outils permettant de fournir des soins de qualité.
Groupe cible: qui doit s’inscrire ?
Les infirmiers ou infirmières qui se sentent novices en matière de recherche tireront profit de cet
atelier. Si vous vous intéressez à la recherche et que vous trouvez la recherche de données probantes
déroutante et complexe, cet atelier est pour vous. Venez avec les sujets dont l’exploration vous a
paru difficile et les questions de recherche qui vous déconcertent. Dans cet atelier, vous apprendrez
à élaborer des questions de recherche axées sur la pratique. Vous aurez l’occasion de partager
vos idées et de débattre des défis liés à la recherche fructueuse de preuves pertinentes.
Les ateliers sont divisés en 3 groupes de langues: anglais, français et allemand.

Bourses
Le Comité de la Convention de printemps d’EONS accordera un certain nombre de bourses aux
infirmiers et infirmières de pays aux ressources limitées, désireux d’assister à la Convention de
printemps de Genève, en Suisse.
Les personnes intéressées doivent envoyer un bref CV et une lettre expliquant le bénéfice qu’elles
retireront de leur participation à la Convention de printemps. La demande doit être accompagnée
d’une lettre du Chef de service indiquant que le demandeur ne reçoit aucun autre soutien financier. Les
demandeurs doivent avoir une bonne connaissance de l’anglais/du français et/ou de l’allemand.
Les demandes de bourses doivent être soumises par e-mail à [email protected] avant
la date limite du 17 décembre 2007.

Chaque bourse couvrira:
■
les frais d’inscription à la Convention ;
■
les frais de logement dans l’un des hôtels sélectionnés
(arrivée le mercredi et départ le dimanche) ;
■
les frais de participation au dîner de la conférence le vendredi soir ;
■
une bourse de voyage de 500 euros – pour les frais de transport. Les 500 euros seront
versés après la conférence sur documentation.
Le Comité organisateur sélectionnera les bénéficiaires de ces bourses. Les demandeurs
retenus seront notifiés dans le courant du mois de janvier 2008.
Informations générales
Hébergement
Kuoni Destination Management a été désigné comme partenaire local officiel chargé de
l’hébergement pour EONS-6 et propose des chambres d’hôtel pour les groupes et les
individuels. Les chambres seront attribuées selon le principe « premier arrivé, premier servi ».

Genève et dans ses environs proches.
Nous conseillons vivement à tous les participants de réserver leur hébergement au plus tôt.
Veuillez remplir un formulaire de réservation pour chaque inscription. La date limite des

seront traitées en fonction des disponibilités.

Herzlich willkommen zum
6. EONS-Frühjahrskongress 2008 in Genf!
Genf – es gibt wohl kaum einen besseren Ort, um sich über neue Arbeitsweisen und
Innovationen im Bereich der Krebspflege auszutauschen als diese Stadt, die für Wissenschaft
und progressives Denken steht. Sie bildet den perfekten Rahmen, um sich über Neuheiten
bei der Behandlung und über neue Ansätze des Krebspflegemanagements im sich rasch
verändernden Pflegesektor zu informieren. Die European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS)
und die Onkologiepflege Schweiz (SONS) laden Sie ganz herzlich zum 6. Frühjahrskongress
ein, damit Sie sich mit Kollegen zu treffen und Innovationen kennen lernen können.
Sich ändernde Arbeitsbedingungen erfordern häufig neue Arbeitsweisen. Gute Ideen sind sicherlich
interessant, doch geht es bei Innovationen noch um etwas Anderes. Es bedarf guter Ideen, die
dann geprüft werden müssen, um sie erfolgreich in der klinischen Praxis umzusetzen. Gerade die
Krebspflege ist von raschen Veränderungen geprägt. In vielen europäischen Ländern erfolgen
Krebsbehandlungen zurzeit überwiegend ambulant mit aufeinander folgenden, wechselnden
Pflegediensten. Es ist daher von wesentlicher Bedeutung, nicht nur Kenntnisse bestehender
und neuer Therapieformen aufzufrischen, sondern auch die Entwicklung im Pflegemanagement
von Patienten und Angehörigen innerhalb eines bestimmten Rahmens mitzuverfolgen. Darüber
hinaus übernimmt das Pflegepersonal vermehrt neue Funktionen, z. B. in der fortgeschrittenen
Pflege. Hieraus ergeben sich Fragen hinsichtlich der Entwicklung der Krebspflege und der
Delegation bestimmter Aufgaben, ohne dass die Pflege hierdurch an Qualität einbüßt. Auf dem
Frühjahrskongress 2008 werden sowohl Ideen im Zusammenhang mit der sich ändernden
Situation als auch die fortgeschrittene Praxis sowie die Entwicklungen in der Praxis vorgestellt.
Als Team möchten wir an die Erfolge der vorherigen Frühjahrskongresse anknüpfen. Daher
haben wir sowohl eine grössere Anzahl an Schulungen und interaktive Veranstaltungen als
auch unterschiedliche Symposien für den aktuellen klinischen Bereich geplant. Dabei haben
wir uns um eine ausgewogene Vielfalt an Veranstaltungen bemüht, darunter Vorlesungen von
geladenen Referenten im Plenum und ausgewählte Arbeiten, die zu den behandelten Themen
vorgelegt wurden. Diskussionsforen und die aktive Teilnahme an Workshops tragen zum
interaktiven und edukativen Ansatz der Veranstaltungen des Kongresses bei.

der Krebspflege zu sammeln und Veränderungen auf diesem Gebiet umzusetzen. Der
6. Frühjahrskongress empfiehlt sich als eine ausgezeichnete Gelegenheit, die Kunst der

Einführender Forschungsworkshop
für Pflegekräfte von Krebspatienten

Einführung
Ziel dieses Workshops ist es, bei den Behandlern das Verständnis für Forschungsprozesse
zu fördern und sie dazu anzuleiten, durch Forschung die onkologische Praxis zu verändern.
Innovation hat mit Veränderung zu tun: Daher liefert Forschung einen wichtigen Beitrag zur
Entwicklung der Pflege. Dieses Symposium richtig sich an „Forschungsnovizen“ bzw. an
Personen, die sich in diesem Bereich noch nicht genügend kompetent fühlen. Die Forschung
findet jedoch nicht isoliert statt: Vielmehr treiben Mediziner Forschungsanstrengungen
maßgeblich voran, indem sie Fragen aufwerfen, Einfluss auf die Praxis ausüben und Impulse
zur Weiterentwicklung liefern. Aus den Patientenerfahrungen wiederum resultiert neues
Wissen und Verständnis in oftmals komplizierten Bereichen. Auf diese Weise wächst das
onkologische Wissen und damit die Möglichkeiten auf den Krebs einzuwirken, Symptome
zu behandeln und das Leben mit der Krankheit zu verlängern. Forschung und Evidenz sind
lediglich zwei Faktoren der anspruchsvollen Pflege.
Zielgruppe: An wen richtet sich den Workshop?
Dieser Workshop richtet sich an Pflegekräfte, für die Forschung noch Neuland ist. Wenn Sie
sich für Forschung interessieren, aber glauben, es ist ein Buch mit sieben Siegeln, dann sollten
Sie an diesem Workshop teilnehmen. Bringen Sie Themen und Probleme aus der Praxis mit,
und wir werden Ihnen zeigen, wie Forschung zur Problemlösung beitragen kann. Sie werden
Gelegenheit haben, Ihre Ideen und Herausforderungen in Bezug auf Forschung und Suche
nach Evidenz zu diskutieren.
Die Workshops sind in drei Sprachgruppen (Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch) unterteilt.

Der Titel eines Abstracts sollte nicht zu lang sein und den Inhalt des Abstracts
widerspiegeln
Das Verfahren für die Online-Abgabe der Abstracts nimmt keine Texte an, die mehr als
2.500 Charaktere (Hauptteil des Abstracts) umfassen.

Nur der Verfasser erhält binnen 48 Stunden nach der Abgabe per e-Mail eine Bestätigung/
Abstractnummer vom Sekretariat des 6. EONS-Frühjahrskongresses. Diese Empfangsbestätigung ist jedoch KEINE Mitteilung, dass das Abstract angenommen ist.

Stipendien
Das Komitee des EONS-Frühjahrskongresses vergibt eine Reihe von Stipendien an
Krankenpfleger/innen aus Ländern mit begrenzten Ressourcen, damit sie an dem
Frühjahrskongress in Genf teilnehmen können.
Bewerber sollten einen Lebenslauf (in Kurzform) und ein Motivationsschreiben einreichen.
Der Bewerbung sollte ein Schreiben des Abteilungsleiters beigefügt sein, in dem versichert
wird, dass der Bewerber keine anderweitige finanzielle Unterstützung erhält. Die Bewerber
müssen fließend Englisch und/oder Deutsch/Französisch sprechen.
Stipdendienanträge müssen bis zum 17. Dezember 2007 per e-mail an [email protected]
eingereicht werden.

Jedes Stipendium umfasst:

Die gebührenfreie Anmeldung zur Konferenz

Die kostenlose Unterbringung in einem ausgewählten Hotel
(Ankunft am Mittwoch, Abreise am Sonntag)
■
Die kostenlose Teilnahme am Gala-Diner am Freitagabend
■
Die Erstattung der angefallenen Reisekosten in Höhe von 500 €. Dieser max. Betrag
wird nach dem Kongress ausgezahlt zurürckerstattet nach Erhalt der Belege.
Über die Vergabe der Stipendien entscheidet das Organisationskomitee. Die erfolrgeichen
Bewerber werden im Januar 2008 benachrichtigt.
Allgemeine Informationen
Unterbringung
Kuoni Destination Management ist als offizieller Partner des 6. EONS-Frühjahrskongresses
für die Unterbringung von Gruppen und Einzelpersonen in ausgewählten Hotels zuständig. Die
Vergabe der Plätze erfolgt in der Reihenfolge der Anmeldungen. Kuoni bietet Ihnen Hotelzimmer
zu Vorzugspreisen bzw. in verschiedenen Preiskategorien in Genf und Umgebung an.
Wir empfehlen daher allen Teilnehmern dringend, möglichst früh eine Hotelunterkunft
zu reservieren. Bitte füllen Sie für jede Buchung jeweils ein Anmeldeformular aus. Die
Buchungsfrist ist der 15. Februar 2008. Danach können Anfragen nur noch dann berücksichtigt
werden, wenn Unterbringungsmöglichkeiten zur Verfügung stehen.
Voraussetzung für die Bestätigung der Reservierung ist die vollständige Angabe der
Kreditkartendaten. WICHTIG: Damit die Reservierung bestätigt werden kann, müssen die
Kosten für eine Übernachtung überwiesen oder per Kreditkarte bezahlt werden.
Jeder Teilnehmer erhält eine persönliche Bestätigung, auf der Name und Anschrift des Hotels
angegeben sind. Die Reservierung ist dann abgeschlossen, wenn die Kreditkarte belastet ist
bzw. der Garantiebetrag eingegangen ist.

unter www.ecco-org.eu. Wenn Sie keinen Internetzugang haben, füllen Sie bitte das
beigefügte Hotelreservierungsformular aus und faxen Sie es direkt an Kuoni zurück. Um
Doppelbuchungen zu vermeiden, möchten wir Sie bitten, sich ENTWEDER per Internet ODER
per Fax anzumelden.

Der Kongress bemüht sich um die Akkreditierung beim EONS-Akkreditierungsrat .

Die offizielle Währung in Genf ist der Schweizer Franken (CHF). Die meisten Fremdwährungen
können in Banken, Hotels oder Wechselstuben getauscht werden. Die meisten Hotels,
Restaurants und Geschäfte akzeptieren internationale Kreditkarten.

Im Rahmen des 6. EONS-Frühjahrskongresses findet zusätzlich eine Ausstellung statt, bei
der sich Pharmaunternehmen und Produkthersteller sowie Medizinverlage und medizinische
Geselleschaften vorstellen. Der Eintritt zu dieser Ausstellung ist für alle angemeldeten
Konferenzteilnehmer kostenlos.

Versicherung
Der Veranstalter haftet nicht für individuelle Kranken-, Reise- oder Personenversicherungen.
Den Teilnehmern wird empfohlen, eigene Personen- und Reiseversicherungspolicen
abzuschliessen.
Sprache
Offizielle Sprache des 6. EONS-Frühjahrskongresses ist Englisch.
Plenarsitzungen werden in die deutsche und französische Sprache simultanübersetzt.

Stornierung der Anmeldung
Bei Stornierung bestätigter Anmeldungen wird eine Bearbeitungsgebühr von 75 EUR
pro Teilnehmer berechnet, sofern die Stornierung vor dem 14. März 2008 erfolgt. Bei
Stornierungen nach diesem Datum ist keine Rückerstattung der Kosten mehr möglich.

Gruppenanmeldungen
Unternehmen, die beim Frühjahrskongress als Sponsor für die Anmeldegebühren
einer Teilnehmergruppe aufkommen möchten, wenden sich bitte an Riitta Kettunen
([email protected]) im EONS-6-Sekretariat. Eine Gruppe besteht aus mindestens
10 Personen. Kleinere Gruppen werden wie Einzelpersonen behandelt. Bei Gruppenanmeldungen
muss ein fest Ansprechpartner, der den Pharmakonzern, den Produkthersteller oder die
Reiseagentur vertritt, die Koordination für die Gruppe übernehmen.
Rahmenprogramm
Empfang
Der Begrüßungsempfang findet am Donnerstag, den 27. März 2008 von 18:30 bis 20:00 Uhr
im Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG) statt.
Gala-Diner
Anlässlich des Frühjahrskongresses findet am Freitag, den 28. März 2008 ein Gala-Diner im
Restaurant Attique im OMM in Genf statt.
Kosten: 50 EUR
Stadtführungen
EONS und Kuoni haben speziell für die Konferenzteilnehmer und ihre Begleiter die folgenden
Stadtführungen organisiert. Anmeldungen sollten bis zum 15. Februar 2008 einschliesslich
der Zahlung des vollen Betrags für alle gebuchten Stadtführungen und für die gesamte
Teilnehmerzahl erfolgen.
