SAN FRANCISCO JAZZ FESTIVAL KICKOFF CELEBRATION |06| 09 Beginning in 1983 as a fledgling two-day event called the Jazz in the City Festival, the San Francisco Jazz Festival has continually expanded over its three-decade existence 5–9:30 PM to become a globally renowned institution presenting the PROXY ON OCTAVIA ST. greatest names in jazz, blues and world music. Running from June 9th through June 21st, the 33rd Annual San Francisco Jazz Festival will present 43 shows over its 13 day run, beginning with a free outdoor kickoff celebration at the Proxy space on Octavia Street between Hayes and Fell.
