Efim Markov. Bass guitar in jazz (historical essay). The history of origin and
developing of bass guitar, the musical instrument that occupies sound place almost in all
musical genres: dance, pop, rock, jazz-rock, soul, fank, jazz and others, is considered.
During its existence, bass guitar rashly marched from the position of an accompaniment
instrument at the beginning to the position of a solo one that shows an unlimited technics.
Modern bass guitar models and their constructive and characteristic features are examined.
The auther mentions some musicians that took important part in bass guitar developing.
