The local cultural clubs and associations organise a full programme of events from jazz,
blues, classical concerts and recitals to traditional bands and choirs. Theatre and cabaret
can be found at the „Alte Burg”. The colourful
art and handicrafts market takes place on the
1st weekend in August. The annual carnival in
Gmünd takes place every year on Shrove
Tuesday.

Das Haus des Staunens - pankratiumgmünd

Die Welt ist recht laut geworden und die leisen Töne gehen
leicht unter! Nicht so im „Haus des Staunens”: Wer
staunt, wird eher still und hält inne; wer staunt, hält die
Augen, die Ohren, ja oft auch den Mund offen. In einer
inszenierten Reise durch eine visuell-akustische Wunderwelt kann man in ein Universum der sinnlichen Wahrnehmung eintauchen: Alles bewegt sich, fließt, es klingt aus
Rohren und Trichtern. Die größte begehbare Geige der
Welt, die Wehmutswalze, Wassertrompeten uvm. laden
zum Musizieren oder einfach zum Lauschen ein (über 40
Experimentierstationen). Im KlangKunstGarten spielen,
Holz, Stein und Metall im Einklang mit dem Wind die schönsten Stücke. Das LichtLabyrinth lädt zum Meditieren ein.
Seminare und Workshops: Für jede Altersgruppe werden
individuelle Programme angeboten, die auch die besonderen Bedürfnisse beeinträchtigter Menschen berücksichtigen!

The House of Amazement - pankratiumgmünd

The world has become a very noisy place where quiet
sounds are easily drowned. Not so in the „House of
Amazement”. When you are amazed you tend to go quiet
and pause for a moment, keeping your eyes, ears and
often even your mouth open. A well-orchestrated journey
through a magical world of the audio-visual, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a universe of sensual perceptions. Everything turns, moves, flows, runs, with
sounds coming out of pipes and funnels. The world’s largest walk-in violin, the Wehmutswalze (melancholy roller), water trumpets and many other instruments invite
you to make music spontaneously or simply to listen (more
than 40 experiment stands). In the KlangKunstGarten
(Sound Art Garden) wood, stone and metal sound sculptures play the most beautiful pieces in unison with the wind,
while the harmonic Light Labyrinth offers a place to meditate. Seminars and workshops: Individual programmes are
offered for every age group, taking account of the particular needs of disabled people. Open daily from May to

Il mondo è diventato davvero rumoroso e i suoni leggeri
vengono sommersi! Non è così nella „Casa delle meraviglie”: chi si meraviglia, diventa silenzioso e si ferma; chi si
meraviglia, spalanca gli occhi, le orecchie e spesso anche
la bocca. Un viaggio attraverso un mondo meraviglioso di
immagini e suoni consente di immergerci nell’universo
delle percezioni sensoriali: tutto si muove, scorre, tubi e
imbuti emettono suoni. Il più grande violino percorribile del mondo, il rullo malinconico, le trombe d’acqua e
molti altri strumenti ci invitano a fare musica o semplicemente ad ascoltare (oltre 40 stazioni sperimentali). Nel
giardino dell’arte e dei suoni (KlangKunstGarten), legno,
pietra e metallo risuonano con il vento dando vita a bellissime melodie. Il labirinto di luce invita alla meditazione.
Seminari e workshop: per ogni fascia d’età vengono proposti programmi individuali, che tengono conto anche delle
speciali esigenze delle persone disabili.

The Fairy Tale Trail Dragon Gorge at Babydorf

Nature’s playground is a 3 km long adventure
hiking trail through the forest. The shuttles will
bring you to the fairy tale trail. Start on an
amazing adventure with one of the longest
suspension bridges at 175 m , the witch ride,
the dragons „Schluchti” and „Meilino”, various

take a break, beautiful views from Gmünd to
the Millstätter See, a friendly witch (in the high

Wenn Sie Lust verspüren eine richtige „Eselei” zu erleben, dann fahren Sie ins Maltatal.
Kurz vor dem Ort Malta sind wir zu
finden. Auf ca. 30.000 Quadratmetern beherbergen wir über 100
Tiere verschiedenster Rassen, wobei zu fast allen Tieren direkter
Kontakt möglich ist.
Die Tiere lassen sich gerne streicheln und die Mutigsten unter den
Kindern probieren sich im Reiten.
Hunde an der Leine sind in unserem schattigen Gastgarten herzlich
willkommen. Jedes Jahr ist mit
einer Menge Nachwuchs zu rechnen und die niedlichen Eselfohlen
sind die Lieblinge aller Kinder und

Maltatal Donkey Park
If you feel the urge to make a real ass of yourself, go to the Maltatal. We are located shortly
before the resort of Malta. We look after over 100
animals of all sorts, and direct contact is possible
with almost all of them. The animals are happy to
be stroked, and the bravest children can try
riding them. Dogs on leads are welcome in our
shady garden. Every year there are a whole lot
more baby creatures, and the pretty little donkey
foals are the favourites of all the children and
grown-ups. Don’t forget our playgroup with plenty of toys. The Maltatal Donkey Park is a highlight
for the young and young at heart.

Eselpark Maltatal
Se sentite la voglia di una vera „asinata”, raggiungete la valle Maltatal. Ci trovate poco prima
del paese di Malta. Su un’area di ca. 30.000 metri
quadrati ospitiamo oltre 100 animali di diverse
razze, ed è possibile entrare a diretto contatto
con quasi tutti gli esemplari. Gli animali si lasciano volentieri accarezzare e i più coraggiosi tra i
bambini si cimentano nell’equitazione. I cani al
guinzaglio sono i benvenuti nel nostro ombreggiato giardino per gli ospiti. Ogni anno ci sono
nuovi cuccioli e i graziosi asinelli sono i beniamini di grandi e piccini. Da non dimenticare il nostro
parco giochi ben attrezzato. Il Parco degli asinelli della Maltatal è un’attrazione per bambini, giovani e meno giovani!

adventures for all actual and would-be nature
lovers. Up there, serviced refuges look after
the inner (wo)man - on the Maltaberg,
Sonnalm Stubeck or in Innerkrems.
Mountain bikers will find breath-taking natural paths for all tastes, and on an E-bike or
tandem there is a pleasant cycle path from
Gmünd into the Maltatal. Riding technique training is available at the bike camp in
Innerkrems.
A lot of peace and quiet is needed for fly-fishing in the Maltatal.

la bici normale o elettrica si raggiunge la valle
Maltatal da Gmünd pedalando comodamente
sulla ciclabile. Al Bike-Camp di Innerkrems vi
attende un corso tecnico di mountain bike.

Kölnbreinsperre and
the Malta Scenic Route
(Hochalmstrasse)
The 14.4 kilometre road along the Malta
scenic route brings you to Austria’s highest
dam. The journey along the narrow road
and through numerous tunnels is certainly
worth the trip. The dam is the highest in
Austria by 200 m and offers his guests a
great panorama from the viewing platform
„Airwalk”.
Our Tip: The Berghotel Malta***s is a
great starting point for hikes and you can
visit the VERBUND Energy World Malta
exhibition.

Die Nockberge sind Europas
einziges Schutzgebiet im
sanften Hochgebirge mit
dem größten Fichten-, Lärchenund Zirbenbestand der Ostalpen. Das unvergessliche Erscheinungsbild der runden
„Nock’n” zählt zu den erdgeschichtlichen Raritäten und ist
einzigartig im gesamten Alpenraum.

Nockalmstraße
erschließt genau dieses Gebiet
von besonders landschaftlichem Reiz. Zahlreiche sanfte
Kehren (= Reidn im Kärntner
Dialekt genannt), die relativ

The Nockalm Road - 35 kilometres of the most beautiful
landscapes imaginable
The Nockberge are actually Europe’s only
protected area in this range of undemanding high mountains with the largest
stands of spruce, larch and pine in the
Eastern Alps. The unforgettable appearance of these round-topped „Nock’n” is one of
those geological rarities, and quite unique
in all the Alps. The Nockalm Road serves as
a gateway to this area of such exceptionally enchanting landscapes. Numerous gentle
hairpin bends (referred to as „Reidn” in
Carinthian dialect), the relatively minimal
gradient of the road, along with delicious
dining opportunities and interesting theme
paths make this road wonderfully enjoyable for car drivers, motorbike riders and cyclists alike.

Il Parco dei Nockberge è una straordinaria
area protetta d'alta montagna dove si trova
la più estesa foresta di abeti rossi, larici e
pini cembri delle Alpi orientali.
L’aspetto inconfondibile delle sue cime
arrotondate, dette „Nockn”, è una rarità
geologica unica nell’intero arco alpino. La
strada alpina della Nockalm attraversa questo paesaggio incantevole. Percorrerla in
auto, moto e perfino in bici è un puro piacere: vi attendono numerosi divertenti tornanti („Reidn” in dialetto carinziano), una
pendenza abbastanza dolce, prelibatezze
culinarie e interessanti percorsi tematici.
