Das 3. Wissenschaftliche Einsiedler Symposium will nicht die
übliche Placebo-Diskussion aufgreifen, das Thema lautet
vielmehr: Lässt sich die medizinische Praxis überhaupt in
spezifische und unspezifische Wirkungen aufteilen, und sollte
die placebokontrollierte Doppelblindstudie nicht durch pragmatischere Formen (randomisiert) klinischer Studien abgelöst
werden, die für die Praxis mehr Aussagekraft haben?
The 3rd Scientific Symposium of Einsiedeln is intended to be
more than just another congress on placebo. Rather, the
prime questions for the symposium are to ask if it is ever
possible in medical practice to separate specific from placebo
or non-specific effects, and if it is time to replace the placebocontrolled double-blind trial with other, more pragmatic types
of (randomised) clinical trials, more relevant to practice.

The appropriate place for observational studies in documenting efficacy:
When is it appropriate to conduct observational studies in the knowledge cycle
related to the use of a medical intervention?
This workshop will focus on the key issues related to the role of pragmatic
efficacy in evaluating and documenting the impact of medical interventions and
identify appropriate situations for utilizing such an approach as well as creating
a study design that addresses one such situation.
