support service, designed to help you win and retain
large corporate risks.
Available to all COBRA Network members, this facility
provides you with the ability and specialist support to
target, acquire and retain larger cases.
These may be where you have a good relationship but
never had the complete business support to compete
and win; or you have a target which requires a stronger,
coordinated presentation. Alternatively, an existing case
may be vulnerable to attack from national and regional
broker predators because of its size and complexity.
Trophy Cases - the concept
This concept originated from Network members who
wanted stronger support to win larger cases, as well as
strengthen their ability to compete with national brokers.

Members often have relationships with large clients but cannot access appropriate markets

Trophy Cases - the definition
A Trophy Case is a large corporate risk that is difficult to
place normally through COBRA’s insurer panel because
of its size, complexity or business type (trade).
These cases will normally be risks which attract
a total premium spend of £100,000 or more.
Also a key COBRA partner, Travelers Insurance Company is
renowned for its ‘big-ticket’ expertise in insurance and risk
solutions for the private, public and institutional sectors.
Aviva is fully committed to supporting COBRA’s Trophy
Case facility – a Corporate & Speciality Risks (CSR) team
has been created to deliver their bespoke Trophy Case
service to COBRA members.
Travelers brings the specialist underwriters together to
meet the specific needs of each Trophy Case to ensure the
focus remains on supporting you and your client. COBRA’s

COBRA London Markets can defer to the Lloyd’s market.

Trophy Case risk presentations must be sent to
either Graham Ringer or Steve Burrows in the first
instance; this includes all new risks and renewals.
Please note that CLM’s Paul Montgomery will also
assist with risk placement.
Do not send your risk presentations to your local
branch and COBRA, as this is likely to receive
uncompetitive terms or even a ‘no-quote’.
