Compact Disc Digital Video
Compact Disc Digital Video is comprised of
animated, or moving, images compressed in
MPEG 1 format on a Video CD.

Dolby Digital
This breakthrough technology
offers “5.1 channels” — five
discrete channels (front left and
right, center, and rear left and right) spanning frequencies
from 20Hz to 20kHz, plus a low-frequency effects channel
dedicated to frequencies of 120Hz or below. These create
an acoustic environment in which sound seems to move all
around the listener, for supremely dramatic surround sound
reproduction.
Dolby Pro Logic
The forerunner to the increasingly
popular Dolby Digital format,
Dolby Pro Logic Surround uses
five speakers to create a
cinematic surround sound ambience. By decoding sound
data contained in Dolby Surround, it produces four distinct
outputs: front left/right, center and rear (2 speakers).
Dolby Pro Logic II
Converts sound from 2-channel
recorded sources (i.e. CD, MD,
TV/FM broadcast, Video, Game,
etc.) into 5.1-channel surround
sound using matrix decode technology, so it is easy to enjoy

Setup is simple. Connect the DEQ-P7650 to
the AVH-P6650DVD, and the modes are ready to
be set. Touch the hexagonal “Start” button on the
display to activate a sophisticated 535-step audio
calibration routine automatically. The entire
process takes about nine minutes.
■ Auto Time Alignment automatically adjusts
digital delay of output signals, so that sound from
all speakers reaches a listener simultaneously.

The Pioneer AVH-P6650DVD is a versatile DVD player that can also play back WMA (Windows
Media™ Audio) and MP3 digital-format compressed files.
Unique hexagonal function buttons let you easily, quickly access and select commands, folders
and files. A colorful Touch Panel display on the 6.5-inch screen shows up to six Folders and File lists
simultaneously in WMA and MP3 playback mode, with WMA Tag and ID3 Tag information, indicating
track name and artist name. Touch an entry on the list, and the music starts.
■ DVD Auto Play*: Insert a DVD disc containing a
“Disc Menu”, and after 5 seconds, the AVH-P6650DVD
proceeds with Auto Start — automatically going
beyond that initial screen to begin playback from the
first title of the first chapter.
■ Bookmark Play/Eject*: Bookmark play can
memorize starting positions for each of up to five discs
after they are inserted, as well as playback status

First, a microphone at the listening point

The AVH-P7650DVD comes with enhanced Dolby Pro Logic — Dolby
Pro Logic II. While enjoying stereo sources, you can get an
expansive surround sound ambience as if you were listening to
5.1-channel Dolby Digital sources. The surround format has three
modes — Movie, Music and Pro Logic.
• Pro Logic II Movie: A mode suitable for movies. It features
a process to reduce crosstalk from the dialog to surround
channels, providing nearly the same degree of separation
and the sense of movement as Dolby Digital 5.1.
• Pro Logic II Music: A mode for music reproduction. This
mode is especially effective when playing back
conventional stereo sources on CDs and other media.

The AVH-P7650DVD is compatible with DVD Audio, a
leading-edge format expected to replace CDs as the listening format
of choice in the near future. Whether a movie or audio disc, DVD stores a lot more data than
regular CD (4.7 gigabytes versus 650 megabytes). More data means better sound. Harmonics
that are lost in the CD mastering process are kept intact with DVD Audio. DVD Audio’s high
specifications create a warm sound that reminds you of vintage vinyl albums. The numbers tell
the real story:
• Two channels at 192kHz, 24-bit rate. This is about as good as reproduced sound gets.

Multi-Channel Auto EQ tailors specific musical characteristics to taste,
according to the car’s acoustics, then it uses a microphone to monitor
and analyze acoustics inside the car, and automatically fine-tunes across
the entire range of frequency bandwidths. In addition, it offers digital
parametric equalization for both front and rear speakers.
The driver who is looking for the versatility, sonic purity and distortion-free
control of digital signal processing should be introduced to the DSP features
of the DEQ-P7650. Built-in 6-channel DSP converts the incoming signals to
digital form. The user can then balance the output signal to match the acoustic characteristics
of a specific car and create a personal sound profile by using the Parametric Equalizer and
SFC controls. A range of DSP-based sound timing features allows the DEQ-P7650 to be set up
for truly optimum performance.
SFC (Sound Field Control) lets you optimize the aural ambience of every sound source.
Musical, Drama and Action modes are heard to best advantage over 5.1-channel surround
systems. For Jazz, Hall and Club modes, a two-channel stereo system is sufficient.
