Die Schweizer Künstlerin Florine Leoni zeigt im Rahmen von
Handlungsbereitschaft | 4 zwei Videos ihrer als Serie angelegten Arbeit ‚Your Territory‘. Leoni kombiniert hier filmisches ‚found
footage‘ Material aus dem Internet, sowie eigens aufgezeichnetes Material, mit von ihr geführten Interviews zum Thema Isolation und Sozialität in Bezug auf Grenzen und Grauzonen von
Verantwortung und Einflussmöglichkeiten im Mit- und Nebeneinander alltäglichen Lebens und Wohnens. Um Aufmerksamkeit
konkurrierende visuelle und akustische Informationen einerseits,
sowie eine durch Abwesenheit der Protagonisten produzierte rätselhafte Atmosphäre andererseits, machen die Syntheseleistung
des Betrachters zum eigentlichen Schlüsselpunkt der Erfahrung.

Am Anfang war dort die Wand, wie sie als vollgültiges physisches Element in offenkundiger Weise an der Qualität des äusseren Raums Anteil nahm, wie sie als vollgültiges physisches
Element die Koordinaten des äusseren Raumes definierte, die
Koordinaten des äusseren Raumes konstituierte. Sie war dort,
ausgedehnt, wie die Welt ausgedehnt ist. Was nun ist, ist die
Spur. Was nun ist, sind die Schatten. Was ist, ist Bruchstück und
was bleibt, ist Erinnerung. Was bleibt, ist Projektion.
Florine Leonis Videoinstallation markiert die kritische Zone der
Ränder, an denen reale und imaginäre Wirklichkeit zusammentreffen. Sie markiert die kritische Zone, an der die Koordinaten
der realen Welt zerfallen, um sich in Erinnerung neu zu fügen.
Die Bruchstücke im Raum sind die Zeugen einer vergangenen
Existenz. Die Projektionen an den Wänden sind die Koordinaten
ihrer Erinnerung. Florine Leonis Videoinstallation berichtet von
der Erinnerung als einer Konstruktion von Realität.

There are other situations which are equally valid, proposes a
transcendent immersion in the Darling Foundry’s garage. Far removed from the white cube, the artist seeks to create an openended sensorial experience. By geometrically assembling elements found in the exhibition building, the artist creates a new
narrative that takes place in a captivating sensorial environment.
Through movement, sound and gloomy lighting, the installation
captures the essence of a nocturnal cinematographic sequence
destined to arouse the senses. The spectator evolves in a closed
space that oscillates between reality and poetic imagination. This
installation appeals to the collective unconscious by stimulating
memory, imagination and feeling.

«(...) Die Treppe, die aus MDF-Platten gezimmert wurde, ist
innen hohl. Dies ist von Bedeutung, weil an vier Wänden vier
Bildschrime montiert sind, die alle dasselbe schwarz-weiss Video wiedergeben. Es zeigt vier Personen, zwei Männer und zwei
Frauen, die sich im Inneren der im Bau befindlichen Treppe befinden, wobei abwechslungsweise eine Person ein Lied singt,
gemäss einem Gedicht des englischen Schriftstellers Alain Alexander Milne. In den Zeilen des Gedichts werden Erfahrungen
und Qualitäten einer Treppe thematisiert, die von den Sängern in
einer unbeholfenen Art musikalisch umgesetzt werden. Dadurch
stellt sich das Bild einer latenten Unschärfe ein, die Verweischarakter hat. Das Treppenobjekt ist nicht nur Artefakt, es wird auch
zur funktionslosen Architektur im Raum. Die Treppe, sonst Symbol für Fortschritt, erweist sich hier als trügerische Falle. Die Stufen führen nur zur Decke des Raumes, im Innern wird sie, das
Video illustriert es, zu einem Gefängnis. All diese Ambivalenzen
in der Arbeit Florine Leonis sind gewollt und schaffen durch die
minimale Inszenierung einen maximalen Denkraum.»

WHEN NOTHING HAPPENS
«Die installative Arbeit zeichnet eine grosse formale Geschlossenheit aus. Die beiden Wahrnehmungsräume Bild und Ton als auch die formale Konsequenz der projizierten Videoszenen schaffen ein Bild eines
vermeintlich der Wirklichkeit entrückten Raumes. Doch der Schein trügt, weisen doch die Bedeutungsebenen auf die Gleichförmigkeit und Alltäglichkeit unseres Lebens hin auf die sich ständig wiederholenden
und nicht mehr bewusst wahrgenommenen Handlungen und Arbeiten, die sich allmählich im immer dichter
werdenden Nebelgeschwader in Nichts auflösen. Die Musik von Faye Shapiro bildet dazu - einer Metaebene gleich - eine zeitlose, tragende Atmosphäre, die für den Betrachter die Protagonisten in den Videos
miteinander verbindet.»
