The mission of the Westhampton Free Library is to serve the community; cultivate knowledge;
promote curiosity; and inspire lifelong learning.
Thank You for Your Support!
The Westhampton Free Library Board of Trustees, Administration and staff wish to
thank the voters for approving this year’s library budget. We will continue to offer
the quality programs and services that our patrons expect while also being fiscally
responsible. Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you in the library soon!
CHECK OUT OUR TECH FAIR
Monday, July 21, 5-9:00pm. Visit the Westhampton Free Library Technology Fair
to find out about all the geek bells and whistles that your library has to offer,
including our latest acquisition “hoopla” (see separate article), a streaming
service for audiobooks, movies and music that is truly easy to use. Also, check
out Zinio for online magazines viewable on your computer and smart devices,
and Indieflix, which is your ticket to thousands of independent films including
features, shorts, animation and foreign film. There will be presentations as well
as one on one time for you to check out each of these special services. A major
highlight will be the demo of the newest technology rage: a 3-D printer. Check
with the library as the date approaches for times. See you there!
HOOPLA DIGITAL NOW AVAILABLE TO
WESTHAMPTON LIBRARY PATRONS
Westhampton Free Library has partnered with hoopla
digital to provide our patrons with access to thousands of
movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks,
all available for mobile devices, smartphones and PCs.
Westhampton card holders can now download the free
hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device
or visit hoopladigital.com to begin enjoying thousands of titles – from major Hollywood
studios, record companies and publishers – available to borrow for instant streaming or
temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets, computers and Apple TV.
“We are committed to serving our patrons and are always exploring new services that
meet their evolving needs. With hoopla digital there is no waiting period and there are
thousands of titles to choose from,” said Library Director Danielle Waskiewicz.
Library Director Recognized with
Paul Harris Fellow
Westhampton Free Library Director Danielle
Waskiewicz was recognized by the Westhampton
Rotary Club with the Paul Harris Fellow at the
Rotary Installation Dinner. She will also be
serving as the Rotary’s treasurer. The Library
would also like to acknowledge Circulation Desk
Clerk Dr. Mary Barr, who also was recognized
by Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow for her work as
a local Cub Scout leader. Congratulations to the two honorees for their dedication
to the Westhampton community. Pictured is outgoing Rotary President Chad

About The Friends of
Westhampton Free Library
FRIENDS OF FAMILY
FARMING POETRY
CONTEST WINNERS:
Congratulations to the winners of the 2014 Friends
of the Library Poetry Contest! We launch the
publication of the poetry with these three poems
by our community’s talented young poets:
Food on the Farm by Sadie Kennedy Jaffe
Corn is the king all tall and yellow….
Tomato is red and a small fellow.…
Pumpkin is orange a round ball …
Apple is high…….oh me oh my!
I almost forgot about the tree that is high!
The dirt is all brown and crumbly,
It gives me healthy food to feed my family!
The goal of the Friends of the Westhampton Free Library is to enhance the Library’s services to the
community by securing resources to support Library programs and projects not met by public funding.
Our membership drive is our chief source of fundraising.
We are proud to be an integral part of a Library that provides such a vibrant and vital resource for the
community. We on the Board of Friends, however, are most proud of the wonderful programs for our
children – especially seeing our teenagers finding this safe environment one that is fun and worth
spending their time in.
We had 12,591 registered patrons in 2013. Our goal would be to have each patron sign up as a member
of the Friends- which would be a direct reflection of how satisfied our Patrons are with the programs and
services the Library provides.
Would you like to become a member of the Friend’s Board? We meet every third Thursday of the month
at 10 am in the Library. We also need volunteers to help with our book sale and collection of used books.
A Farmer’s Perspective by Selena Pereyra
My family is hungry
I am looking for some lands
If it was there in front of me
I would work it with my hands
Coming This Fall!
FRIENDS OF WESTHAMPTON FREE LIBRARY CLASSIC CAR SHOW
My wife would get the seeds
The children would scare away the crows
It would just need to rain
We’d squish mud between our toes
We would grow a lot of corn
Tomatoes, cabbage, beans
A fat and juicy watermelon
And many, many greens
Saturday, September 27.
Watch this summer for additional information.
Show is organized by Auto Fest.
FRIENDS OF THE
LIBRARY BOOK SALE
If I could farm these lands
The next year I’d have extra seed
I’d give it to my neighbors
And those who are in need
EVERYBODY NEEDS FRIENDS...
ESPECIALLY THE LIBRARY!
A Farm to Share by Brianna Van de Wetering
Snug and warm inside the earth
my little seeds await their birth
a little soil, a little love
the sun provides warmth from above
Fruit and vegetables start to grow
as my tractor pulls the weeds from below
lady bugs, my helpful friends
to you I’ll be thankful until the end
A basket full of healthy food
more than enough to feed my brood
with all the extras in my hand
I should open my very own farm stand
Stop by the Library the third Sunday of every
month for the Friends of the Library book sale.
Who knows what literary treasures or guilty
pleasures you’ll find. See you here!
Please join and be part of our continuing program of exciting library events.
All donations are tax deductible.
