About Auburn
LOCATION
Auburn, established during the “Gold Rush” period, is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains
and has the advantage of being above the fog and below the snow. At the crossroads of I-80 and Highway 49,
Auburn is the county seat of Placer County, and is an important retail trade center. Nearby are several ski areas,
including Squaw Valley, site of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. Many hiking trails and lakes are also within a
short drive from Auburn.
Auburn is also well known for its equestrian and running interest. It is the culmination point of three endurance events: The Tevis Cup Ride, the Western States Endurance Run (both 100 miles in one day events), and
the American River 50 mile run.
Visitors are also attracted to many other activities in Auburn, including the Gold Country Fair, Wild West
Stampede, Cruise Nights, Home Shows, a growing wine industry, as well as the 4th of July and Festival of
Lights parades.
The Auburn Symphony, Auburn Community Concert Association, and the Arts Council of Placer County are
important members of the arts community.

Working with your Mortgage Professional
1. Prepare your documentation. Before you even make that first call,
you can compile most of what you’ll need for the initial qualification
as well as the actual application. Gather your two most recent
statements on each checking and savings account. Locate your last
two year’s worth of W-2 forms and tax returns. Include your last
month’s pay stubs. If you’re self employed, additional documentation
could be needed. Your mortgage professional will advise you if that
is the case.
2. Know you credit history. You should already be checking
your credit report for inaccuracies at least once a year. Two or
three months before you plan to apply for a mortgage, pull your
credit report (preferably at all three reporting agencies) so you
have adequate time to clear up any errors before your mortgage
professional pulls your score.
3. Be honest. Most people do not have spotless credit —
your
mortgage professional will not judge you if you are among them.
However, in order to do the best job for you, he or she needs to
know about any blemishes on your credit report before you begin
discussing mortgage options. You’ll save everyone time in the
long run if you’re as forthright as possible in regards to past
credit challenges.
