4. Lightly grease the surface of the shaft before installation.

1. Cleanandinspecttheslidingsurfaceoftheradialoilsealontheshaft.
2. Fillthewearmarks,kerfs,groovesorlargeroughareaswithasuitablefillingcompound.Unevenareasontheshaftarepushed
throughbythethinwallthicknessoftheshaftprotectionsleeveandhaveanadverseinfluenceonthesealingeffect.
3. Determinethesleevesize.
7. Slidetheshaftprotectionsleeveontotheassemblysleeveandovertheworn
position on the shaft.

Tochoosethecorrectshaftprotectionsleeve,measuretheshaftdiameteratthree
differentpointsclosetothewornsection.
8. Cutintothemountingflangeontheshaftprotectionsleeveasfarasthepredeterminedbreakingpointusingasidecutterandseparatetheflangeatthe
rough-turnedgroove.
9. Inspecttheshaftsurfaceforburrsoncemore
aftermounting.

affects the sliding and sealing properties of the radial oil seal.

Removing the shaft protection sleeves
Theshaftprotectionsleevescanberemovedfromtheshaftinseveralways:
• Bywarming,thethermallyexpandedshaftprotectionsleevecanbeeasilytakenofftheshaft
withoutdamagingtheshaftitself.
• Usingcontrolledhammerblowswiththepeenalongthewidthofthesleeve,theshaftprotection
sleeveexpandsandcanberemovedeasily.
• Tearingofftheshaftprotectionsleeveusingasidecutter.
• Slitting open the shaft protection sleeve using a chisel.
Attention:
Shaft protection sleeves can not be re-used.

Ein Verzug an den Zylinderbohrungen ist
an einzelnen, hochglänzenden Polier
stellen an der Zylinderlauffläche erkenn
bar. Die Kolbenringe können eine ver
zogene oder deformierte Zylinderbohrung
nicht zuverlässig gegen Motorenöl oder
Verbrennungsgase abdichten.
Neben den technischen Ursachen, die am
Motor und dessen Umfeld zu erhöhtem
Ölverbrauch führen können, kommt es
auch durch ungünstige Einsatzbedingun
gen eines Fahrzeugs zu erhöhtem Ölver
brauch.
Das Motorenöl gelangt in den
Verbrennungsraum und wird
dort verbrannt.
… zu großen Kolbenüberstand
Wenn bei Dieselmotoren der Kolbenüber
stand zu groß ist, schlagen die Kolben
am Zylinderkopf an und erschüttern die
Einspritzdüsen. Kraftstoff wird zusätzlich
eingespritzt und zerstört den Schmierfilm
auf den Zylinderoberflächen.
Dadurch kommt es zu einem
hohen Mischreibungsver
schleiß an Kolben, Kolben
ringen und den Zylinderlauf
flächen.
Alle Fahrzustände, die einen
höheren Kraftstoffverbrauch
zur Folge haben, wirken sich
auch negativ auf den Ölver
brauch aus
