heute um 18 Uhr zum großen finale
des „Hog factor“ ein. Der „Hog Factor“ ist
ein Lichtdesign- und Programmierwettbewerb
für Teams. Die Bewertung übernimmt eine kompetente Jury aus erfahrenen Lichtdesignern.
Teams aus England, Frankreich und Deutschland treten gegeneinander an. Der Wettbewerb findet auf den Messeständen von High
End Systems und der AED Group statt. Die
AED group ist der europäische Vertriebspartner von High End Systems aus den USA, dem
Hersteller des Hog Systems. Unterstützt und begleitet wird das „Hog Factor“-Finale von LMP
Lichttechnik, dem Exklusivvertrieb für Hog Konsolen in Deutschland.

final of the “Hog factor”. The “Hog
Factor” is a lighting design and programming competition for teams. The teams will
be assessed by a jury of experienced lighting designers. Teams from England, France
and Germany, are competing against each

sales partner of High End Systems from the
USA, the manufacturer of the Hog System.

Bereits zum elften Mal wurden die Life Entertainment Awards verliehen.
Die aus renommierten Musikjournalisten, Radioprogrammmachern und
Kulturmanagern zusammengesetzte Jury des PRG LEA hat Events und
herausragende Leistungen von Promotern, Künstlermanagern,
Booking-Agenturen und Spielstättenbetreibern unter die Lupe genommen. Bei einer großen Gala in der Frankfurter Festhalle wurden die

projects. The system, which transfers live audio signals via wifi to smartphones, has now
been used for the first time on a tour production. Puppet comedian Sascha Grammel completed one of four successive sell-out shows in
Berlin‘s Tempodrom. The show was billed as a
“special show for the deaf and sign language
users”. A technical innovation for the show
was Sennheiser‘s MobileConnect system comprising the CS1-M ConnectStation and an Access Point that transferred the auditory support
to the apps.

the basis for laser shows in DSP format. Like
all Lasergraph DSP controllers, it offers excellent reliability and outstanding output quality.
Integrated in the tried and tested DSP Compact enclosure it features all the interfaces
needed for connecting not only the laser pro-
jector but also any other device used in event

the Platinum dSP, a new and extremely powerful audio DSP unit for mixing consoles. It
enables a console at its maximum configuration to handle up to 700 audio channels, sufficient for any surround production. Thanks to the large amount of audio processing capacity, it
provides sufficient audio channels even when all 128 audio buses are in use. The processing
power also allows for comfortable operation with a 96 kHz sampling rate. However, more
channels and more available audio buses are just two of the highlights that the Platinum DSP
has to offer. Its processing unit is fully backwards compatible and is capable of increasing the
number of channels even in existing consoles. Each channel strip has a very long delay at its
disposal which, with over 1,000 ms of potential delay time, is capable of performing the runtime adjustments that can occur in everyday operation – such as compensating for when the
picture and sound are out of sync, as can be the case with wireless HD cameras. René Harder, a member of the Stage Tec management, believes the Platinum DSP has huge potential:
“New installations and existing customers alike will benefit from our new audio processing.

new 31-camera Al Kass OB van
With three OB vans already equipped with LAWO sysTEMs, six mc56 mixing desks installed in OBs and studios and several VSM Control Systems, Al Kass is Lawo’s most loyal customer in Qatar. Now, the German system integrator Broadcast Solutions has completed the
construction and commissioning of OB-10 – the latest addition to the sports channel’s road
fleet. The new OB-10 truck makes extensive use of Lawo audio, processing and control equipment. Al Kass will be using this large 31-camera truck to cover major sporting events in the region. Central to the audio setup is a 48-fader mc56 mixer fitted with local I/Os and 384 DSP
channels, allowing OB-10 to handle the most demanding productions. Its connectivity includes 96 AES in/outputs and two DALLIS modular stageboxes with 48 mic inputs and 16 line

The MIPRO ACT2400 Series currently comprises four receiver models with single-channel, dual-channel and
quad-channel configurations. The accompanying ACT-24HC and ACT-24TC rechargeable
transmitters are powered by a removable and rechargeable ICR 18500 lithium battery. To
cover greater reception ranges and to enhance signal stability, MIPRO will be introducing
new 2.4 GHz receivers with external antenna systems in the 2nd half of 2016.

the LUCAs nAnO 608i. The new all-in-one
PA system with an integrated digital mixing
console can be remote controlled from an
Apple iPad. The eight-channel digital mixer
integrated into LUCAS NANO 608i‘s subwoofer can be controlled in two ways: either
directly on the 608i itself using conventional
knobs, or wirelessly via an iPad. An iPad app
developed specially by HK Audio offers features such as fully parametric 'drawable‘ EQs,
compressors and high-quality reverbs with
state-of-the-art mixing desk convenience. The
new LUCAS NANO 608i can also be used
with Bluetooth-enabled sound sources such as
smartphones. On the principle that the show
must go on, the system is also prepared for
the worst-case scenario: if the iPad should
crash all the settings remain stored so there is
no change to the mix or to the sound. As soon
as the analog mixer on the subwoofer of the
LUCAS NANO 608i is used it will automatically take over command. On the loudspeaker
side, the extremely lightweight PA, weighing

studios. The rubberised buttons provide good tactile feedback and light up in different colours
when their various functions are activated. In combination with an external router the DMIX20 can be conveniently controlled via an iPad and network connection. At the back the console has a total of 19 input channels. 16 of these are combined XLR/6.3 mm jack sockets

independent ports are each capable of transporting 512 inputs and outputs via fibre optic to
the NEXUS Base Device, Stage Tec’s standard audio router. In total, this creates a management and routing capacity of more than 2,000 signals per fibre-optic board. The new XFOC

Digital receiver module for wireless PA systems
As the UHF spectrum for wireless microphone systems is shrinking worldwide and telecoms
regulations vary from country to country, it is becoming quite challenging to find a uniform legal frequency band. Now MIPRO offers a license-free 2.4 GHz digital diversity receiver
module for portable wireless PA systems as an alternate to UHF. As it operates in the 2.4 GHz
ISM spectrum, the MRM-24 receiver module will not suffer interference from local TV stations, and users can take it on their travels anywhere. Combining FHSS frequency hopping
with adaptive tracking to prevent interferences from other 2.4 GHz wireless devices, the

IMG sTAGELInE presents the new DRIVE
series of self-powered PA loudspeakers in the
usual sizes. DRIVE-08DSP, DRIVE-10DSP,
DRIVE-12DSP and DRIVE-15DSP are designed
as full-range systems for mobile sound reinforcement. Externally, the robust black birch
plywood enclosure and grille makes a good
first impression. The woofers of different sizes
depending on the model and the 1" tweeters
are driven by a two-channel amplifier with an
overall output of 380 W rms. A DSP module
regulates the amplifier output on a chassisspecific basis and makes it extremely convenient to use the speakers and vary the sound.
A control at the back enables any of eight presets to be selected. The LIVE preset with its linear response offers unadulterated playback.
For background sound the right choice would
be the MUSIC preset (slightly boosted bass
and treble) or the Wall Mount preset for loudspeakers either standing right next to walls or
mounted directly on walls. As the name suggests, the Vocal preset optimises playback for
speech intelligibility. The DJ and CLUB presets
gives the bass an appropriate boost. If the
DRIVE systems are used used with subwoofer
support there is another preset that comes into
question. And there is also a preset for when
the speakers are used as floor monitors. The
benefit of a horn that rotates through 90 degrees is then obvious. The new DRIVE series is

B22-sUB is the name of the new omnidirectional subwoofer from D&B AUDIOTEChnIK. It is the modern version of the B2-SUB
loudspeaker. The B22 has two 18-inch neodymium drivers in a bandpass horn design
and offers an extended frequency range. Like
its predecessor, the B22 is designed for use
on the floor. d&b claims improved performance, a contemporary design and better
internal bracing. The B22-SUB is the largest
omnidirectional subwoofer from d&b. The
loudspeaker features three subwoofer in cardioid subwoofer array mode. For greater flexibility d&b has also designed the B22 for INFRA mode. The company‘s intention here is to

italienischen Recanati einen beeindruckenden
PA-Vorführsaal eingeweiht. Dort steht die komplette Bandbreite der FBT-Produkte zur Verfügung. So sind alle namhaften Line-Array-Modelle installiert, darunter die Systeme MUSE,
MITUS, QA und QSA. Auch die Säulen-Arrays
aus den Vertus-Serien CLA, DLA und MLA stehen für ausgiebige Hörproben zur Verfügung.

impressive PA demo room in Recanati, Italy.

MITUS, QA and QSA systems. High-quality
column arrays from the Vertus CLA, DLA and
MLA series are also available for extensive
listening tests. There are also portable loudspeakers from the FBT portfolio. Subwoofer

and rich bass sound. StageMaxX, VERVE and
MITUS models are connected as stage monitors so that the entire gamut of loudspeaker

MARTIN BY hARMAN stellt zwei Ergänzungen zur P3 System-Controller-Familie aus
LED-Videoprozessoren vor. Die Controller sind
die ergonomischste Lösung für die Konfiguration und den Betrieb von Systemen mit LEDVideopanels sowie Creative LED-Videoleuchten, wie beispielsweise das Martin VDO
Sceptron. Der P3-150 System-Controller löst
die P3-100 und P3-200 Controller ab, ist
dabei aber nicht einfach nur ein Ersatz: Er enthält eine Reihe von Verbesserungen, darunter
ein kompakteres Rackgehäuse, thru-Anschlüsse

We have all heard the question so many
times over the past few years: can LEDs really
replace conventional light sources? And we
all know the answer: yes they can in a very
wide range of sectors – including theatres and
TV productions. The ThA-250f from EUROLITE is another good example and has what it
takes to convince the final doubters. A comfortably warm colour temperature of 2,800
Kelvin and a high colour rendering index of
92 make all differences to a halogen lamp
disappear. The 250 W LED replaces halogen
spots with 1,500 to 2,000 W. The fan is
barely audible. It is so quiet that the spotlight
can be used even in noise-sensitive places like
theatres and TV studio. The THA offers flickerfree projection and is therefore ideal for film
and TV productions.

Was die 17 Hippies auf der Bühne zum Besten geben, ist in dieser Kombination selten. Die
dreizehnköpfige Berliner Band verbindet auf überwiegend akustischen Instrumenten Rock- und
Popmusik mit osteuropäischen Melodien und Rhythmen, französischen Chansons und amerikanischer Folkmusik. Gesungen wird dabei sowohl auf Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch. Anlässlich ihrer „20 Jahre 17 Hippies“ Jubiläumstour hat Lichtdesigner Tobias Pehla eine dot2 core
sowie ein dot2 F-wing von MA LIGhTING zur Steuerung des Lichts verwendet. Neben den
dot2 Pulten hatte Pehla auch DTS NICK NRG 1201 und DTS JACK mit auf der Tour. Pehla, der
sonst als stellvertretender technischer Leiter im Heimathafen Neukölln arbeitet und gleichzeitig
auch das Columbia Theater in Berlin lichttechnisch betreut, zeigte sich von den Möglichkeiten
der dot2 angetan: „Natürlich sind für eine kleinere Tour wie diese Faktoren wie Gewicht, Größe und Flexibilität ausschlaggebend, da ich unser Licht-Equipment selber transportiere und aufbaue. Darüber hinaus sehe ich das Pult aber auch zum Beispiel in Schulen und in allen Bereichen, wo Leute mit dem Pult arbeiten sollen, die das nicht täglich machen. Anfänger erreichen
mit dem Pult schnell das, was sie erreichen wollen. Eine grundlegende Show ist durchaus in
einer Stunde umsetzbar. Grundsätzlich versuche ich, bei den 17 Hippies einen Schritt zurück
zu dem zu machen, was vor der Moving Light-Ära verbreitet war. So ist der Kern des Konzepts
konventionelles PAR- und ACL-Licht von oben, davon so viel wie möglich. Allerdings geht es da
auch weniger um Effekte, als darum Stimmungen zu bauen und Farben, und dadurch auch die
Musik, wirken zu lassen.“
CUBE-630 heißen die aktuellsten EffektMovingheads von IMG STAGELINE. Auf der
Basis des CUBE-630/LED rotiert ein typischer
Moving-Head-Arm (630°), der einen endlos
drehbaren Würfel hält. Jede der 6 Seitenflächen des Würfels enthält eine 30-W-RGBWLED deren Licht als BEAM mit 4° Abstrahlwinkel den CUBE verlässt. Zudem wurden in die
Kanten des CUBE RGB-LED-Streifen integriert,
mit denen die Effektvielfalt des CUBE-630/LED
noch erhöht wird. Kontrolliert werden Bewegungen, Leuchtstärke und Farbe sowie Strobeeffekt wahlweise mit 37 oder 15 DMX-Kanälen. Zusätzlich enthält das Gerät automatisch
ablaufende Programme oder kann musikgesteuert eingesetzt werden. Das für den Inneneinsatz konzipierte Gerät verfügt über eine Lüfterkühlung. Das Gehäuse misst 41cm x 31cm x
50 cm und wiegt gut 14 kg. Unter der Bezeichnung CUBE-630/RGBW ist ein weiterer CUBEEffekt erhältlich. Dieser ist wahlweise mit 35
oder 12 DMX-Kanälen steuerbar da keine LEDStreifen an den Seiten verbaut wurden.
17 hippies touring with dot2
Anyone who has been to a 17 Hippies gig knows they‘ve seen something unique. The
13-piece Berlin band plays mainly acoustic instruments, combining rock and pop music with
Eastern European melodies and rhythms, French chansons and American folk music. They
sing in German, English and French. For their “20 Years of 17 Hippies” tour lighting designer
Tobias Pehla used a dot2 core and a dot2 f-wing from MA LIGhTInG for controlling
the lights. In addition to the dot2 consoles Pehla also took DTS NICK NRG 1201 and DTS
JACK on tour. Pehla, who normally works as the deputy technical director in the Heimathafen
Neukölln theatre and also looks after the lighting in the Columbia Theatre in Berlin, was hugely impressed by the dot2. “Obviously for a relatively small tour such as this one factors such
as weight, size and flexibility are crucial because I have to transport and set up our lighting
equipment myself. I can also see the console being used for example in schools and other
places where people have to work with a lighting console but don‘t do so every day. With
this console even novices can quickly achieve what they want to achieve. I can get a basic
show up and running in an hour. Basically, for the 17 Hippies gigs I try to take a step back to
what was commonplace before the moving light era. At the heart of the concept is conventional PAR and ACL light from above, and as much as possible. It‘s not so much about creating effects as creating moods and colours to complement the music.”

werden nicht nur absolut detaillierte Ausleuchtungen, sondern auch bewegte Beamwork

vier Blendenschieber lässt sich dabei separat

The Robin DL7s Profile from ROBE is an
LED-based moving light with seven-colour LED
mixing for colour mixing without compromise
and absolutely homogeneous distribution of
light. Thanks to the new LED engine the DL7S
can produce any nuance of colour, from fully
saturated colours to soft pastel tones, all with
a stable colour rendering index (CRI) of at
least 90. The output of the LED engine is
800 W. High-quality 18-bit dimming for the
individual colours ensures uniform fading
from 0 to 100% and optimum results even at
the lowest end of the dimming curve. Readymade colour macros from the virtual colour
wheel and halogen effects with a delayed
dimming curve typical of halogen make it
easier to work with this fixture and enable it
CUBE-630 is the name of the latest effect
moving heads from IMG sTAGELInE. A typical moving head arm rotates through 630 degrees on which a fully rotating cube is mounted. Each of the six sides of the cube contains
a 30 W RGBW LED which produces a beam
of light with an emission angle of 4 degrees.
RGB LEDs have also been integrated in the
edges of the cube, giving an even greater
variety of effects. Motion, luminous intensity,
colour and stroboscopic effects are controlled
with either 37 or 15 DMX channels. The unit
also features programs that run automatically,
or it can be controlled by the music. It is designed for indoor use and is cooled by a fan.
The casing measures 41 cm x 31 cm x 50 cm
and weighs a good 14 kg. Also available is
the CUBE-630/RGBW which can be controlled with either 35 or 12 DMX channels as
this model does not have the LED strips along

LED spotlights from GLP. “The stage had to
appear picturesque at times and bleak at others – and in order to cover such a wide range
of emotions with light I needed spotlights that
were as versatile as possible for my design –
like the Impression X4 Bar 20. The most
spectacular use of the Impression X4 Bars
comes right at the start of the play when the
ensemble emerges onto the stage from the
bowels of the theatre on a 15 metre wide
staircase.

Zusätzlich steht bei Fohhn die Kompatibilität

der Messeaktivitäten. Aktuelle Modelle der
Linea­Focus­Serie verfügen bereits über eine
Optocore­Schnittstelle, eine entsprechende
Anbindungsmöglichkeit für Dante ist in Pla­
nung. Alle aktiven Fohhn­Lautsprechersysteme,
­Endstufen und ­Controller werden zukünftig mit
digitalen, trafosymmetrischen AES/EBU­Ein­
gängen ausgestattet sein – und so mit jedem
digitalen Audionetzwerk kompatibel sein.
So many new products
One of the highlights at the Fohhn booth is
the Fohhn Texture design, a new and exclusive printing process that enables Fohhn to
achieve optimal visual integration of its loudspeaker systems (for speakers with aluminium
housings and a maximum length of 1.5 m). In
addition to the full range of RAL colours and
gloss levels, an extensive selection of photorealistic finishes – from wood to marble – is
now available. Fohhn is also presenting current and new loudspeaker systems for mobile
AV and concert applications. Taking centre
stage here is the Focus Venue range of large
Beam Steering systems for concert sound, and
the fully horn-loaded PT-70 passive loudspeaker. Fohhn is also focusing on achieving
compatibility with all digital audio networks.
Current models in the Linea Focus series already feature an Optocore interface, and a
corresponding Dante connectivity option is
currently in planning. In future, all active
Fohhn loudspeakers, amplifiers and controllers will be equipped with digital, transformerbalanced AES/EBU inputs, making them compatible with any digital audio network.

Spannende, informative und unterhaltsame Hörspiele und Features von Kinderhörspielen bis zu
Krimis für Erwachsene bietet der Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk (MDR) in seinem Programm. Die auf­
wändigen Produktionen verlangen nicht nur gute Hörspielliteratur und ein qualifiziertes, enga­
giertes Team, sondern auch entsprechende Räumlichkeiten und moderne, leistungsfähige Tech­
nik. Um den zukünftigen hohen Anforderungen an die Hörspielproduktion gerecht zu werden,
entschied sich der MDR für ein neues Mischpult und die Erneuerung der Audio­Infrastruktur.
Neben dem neuen mc66, ein 56­Fader­Pult mit 192 DSP­Kanälen und integriertem Plugin­Ser­
ver, übernimmt nun eine 5000x5000 Lawo Nova73 das Routing, während das Talkback über
eine lAwo sapphire Karte geleistet wird. Drei Lawo DALLIS­Einheiten sind als mobile Stage­
boxen flexibel und damit kosteneffizent im gesamten Hörspielkomplex im Einsatz. Die bedeu­
tendste Veränderung jedoch ist die zukunftsweisende Nutzung einer IP­basierten Infrastruktur
über RAVENNA. Rückbau der alten Technik, Aufbau des neuen Equipments und die Gesamt­
installation übernahm die DREFA MSG/ASS (DREFA MEDIA SERVICE GmbH/Audiosystem­
service), eine mittelbare Tochterunternehmung des MDR; Planung und Projektleitung leistete die
Abteilung MDR­ Betriebsdirektion/Planung Medienproduktion.

German public broadcaster Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) maintains a mix of excitement,
entertainment and information in its radio dramas and features, which range from children‘s
programs to adult thrillers. These elaborate productions rely on good radio drama and a
qualified, dedicated team, and also the facilities equipped with modern, high-performance
technology. To meet anticipated future demands of radio drama production, the broadcaster
decided on a new mixing console and the renewal of its audio infrastructure. Besides the
mc66 – a 56-fader console with 192 DSP channels and integrated plug-in server – the installation includes a 5kx5k Lawo Nova73 for routing, with talkback via a lAwo sapphire card.
Three DALLIS units provide flexible and cost-efficient mobile stageboxes that serve the entire
drama production complex. The most significant change, however, is the future-facing adoption of an IP infrastructure based on RAVENNA. Dismantling the old gear, setting up the new
equipment, and the overall system installation was carried out by MDR’s subsidiary, DREFA
MEDIA SERVICE GmbH/Audio System Service, while planning and project management was
undertaken by MDR Operation Management/Planning Media Production.

Powerful lighting console
The mantralite console from lSc lighTing SySTEmS makes control of LED fixtures
easy and intuitive, while still allowing control of moving lights and conventional dimmers,
combining the ease of use of a fader based console, with the power of a touch screen graphical user interface. The software shows the user what to do next, ensuring a very easy learning
curve for even the novice user. Power users are also catered for with many advanced features
and the ability to record 100 cuelists and play back up to ten simultaneously. Each cuelist can
contain up to 250 individual cues with variable cross-fade times. Up to 24 individual fixtures
can be controlled, each with a separate fader for the dimmer. A large 18cm (8”) colour
capacitive touch screen provides a powerful user interface, similar in operation to modern
smartphones, giving the user the feeling of familiarity and comfort.
