Ich heiße Sie herzlich willkommen zum
HOFBURG Silvesterball — das Silvester­
highlight im Herzen Wiens! Die Wiener
Hofburg, als ehemalige Kaiserresidenz und
internationales Kongresszentrum, feiert in
diesem Jahr das 200-jährige Jubiläum zum
Wiener Kongress. Die Wiener Hofburg spiel­
te damals nicht nur als politischer Tagungs­
ort eine große Rolle, sondern sie war auch
Zentrum des gesellschaftlichen Lebens. Noch
heute zieht die HOFBURG Vienna alljährlich
mit rund 320 Veranstaltungen bis zu 340.000
Gäste aus aller Welt an.
I would like to extend a very warm welcome
to you all to this year’s HOFBURG Silvester­
ball, the New Year’s highlight in the heart of
Vienna. The HOFBURG Vienna, an inter­
national conference centre and former
imperial residence, is celebrating the 200th
anniversary of the Congress of Vienna in
2014 and 2015. The Hofburg not only played
a key role as a summit venue, it was also at the
heart of the social side of life in the
capital during the conference. Today the
HOFBURG Vienna draws around 340,000
visitors from all over the world and hosts
around 320 events each year.
Der Silvesterball in der Wiener Hofburg hat
seit vielen Jahren Tradition und ist ein Fixpunkt
im Wiener Ballkalender. Als Direktorin ist es
mir daher eine besondere Freude zum festli­
chen Auftakt der glanzvollen Ballsaison ein­

The HOFBURG Silvesterball has a tradition
dating back many years and is a popular
highlight of the Viennese ball calendar. As
Managing Director I am delighted to get the
world-famous Viennese ball season off to a
swinging start with you. We hope that you
enjoy the first-class program of entertain­
ment and gourmet gala dinner that we have
put together for you. This year you can even
pick your very own four-leaf clover and pin
your new year’s resolution to our wish tree,
and don’t forget to pick up your special
souvenir champagne flute.
There are quintessentially Viennese treats to
look forward to such as the opening dance by
the members of the debutantes’ committee,
the sound of the Pummerin bell at St. Ste­

Ritter beschwingt den Silvesterabend im Fest­
saal. Zu Mitternacht hören wir sie in einem
Arienreigen von Bizet bis Strauss.
Beate Ritter will get the New Year’s Eve festivi­
ties off to a swinging start in the Festsaal with
a rendition of Johann Strauss’ Voices of Spring
waltz. At midnight she will perform various
arias by a series of greats, from Bizet to Strauss.

2006 debütierte sie an der Wiener Staats­
oper und sang im Haus am Ring seither zahl­
reiche Partien. Kurz nach Mitternacht tritt sie
in der Wiener Hofburg mit Arien aus „Lakmé“
und „Die Fledermaus“ auf.
In 2006 she made her debut at the Vienna State
Opera and has since performed numerous roles
at the world-famous opera house on Vienna’s
Ringstrasse. Shortly after midnight the Hofburg
Vienna will be filled with the sound of her singing
selected arias from Lakmé and Die Fledermaus.

Mit „Draußen in Sievering blüht schon der

nistin mit „Das ist der Frühling in Wien“ von
Robert Stolz und im Duett mit Kip Wilborn.

2010 debütierte er an der Volksoper Wien

Vincent Schirrmacher made his debut at the Volks­
oper Wien in 2010 and has since starred in various
works at the venue including Tosca, Die Fleder­
maus, Rigoletto and the Merry Widow. Today
he will be singing as part of an ensemble along­
side the other artists as well as giving solo rendi­
tions of arias from Carmen and The Bird Seller.
KIP WILBORN: TEN OR
Der amerikanische Tenor Kip Wilborn ist so­
wohl in Nordamerika als auch Europa behei­
matet. Auftritte in der San Francisco Opera, in
der Opéra National de Paris und am Aalto­
theater in Essen stehen auf seinem Termin­
kalender. Heute interpretiert er Arien aus
„Rose von Stambul“ und „Die Fledermaus“.

The American tenor Kip Wilborn shares his time
between North America and Europe. Career
highlights include stints at the San Fransisco Op­
era, the Opéra National de Paris and the Aalto­

Geboren in Genua (Italien) und ausgebildet
an der Ballettschule der Mailänder Scala,
wurde sie 2005 Mitglied des Balletts der
Wiener Staatsoper und Volksoper. 2010
stieg sie zur Halbsolistin des Wiener Staats­
balletts auf bevor sie 2013 zur Solotänzerin
ernannt wurde.
Born in Genoa in Italy and trained at Milan’s
Scala ballet school, she joined the Vienna
State Opera and Volksoper corps de ballet in
2005. In 2010 she was appointed semi-soloist
at the Vienna State Ballet before rising to
become a fully-fledged soloist in 2013.

After completing his formal training at the
Vienna State Opera ballet school he joined
the Vienna State Opera Ballet in 2000. In 2003
he became a semi-soloist. Eno Peci has been a
soloist at the Vienna State Opera and Volks­
oper since 2009.
Durch seine Ausbildung an der Ballett–
schule der Wiener Staatsoper wurde er 2000
Mitglied des Wiener Staatsopernballetts. Im
Jahre 2003 avancierte er zum Halbsolisten.
Seit 2009 ist er Solotänzer des Balletts der
Wiener Staatsoper und der Volksoper Wien.

Founded in 1994, the Vienna State Opera
Ballet Association has 50 members (solo­
ists, semi-soloists and members of the corps
de ballet from the Vienna State Opera Ballet)
who see themselves as the custodians of Aus­
trian ballet’s proud 300-year history. United
by a love of dance, its members are dedicated
to taking ballet to a wider public and raising
awareness of the art form beyond traditional
settings such as the Vienna State Opera and
the Volksoper.
Die “Vereinigung Wiener Staatsopernballett”
wurde 1994 gegründet und besteht aus über
50 Mitgliedern (SolistInnen, HalbsolistInnen
und Corps de ballet des Wiener Staatsbal­
letts). Die Vereinigung agiert mit dem Ziel, die
300-jährige Tradition der österreichischen
Tanzkunst zu pflegen. Verbunden durch die
Leidenschaft und Liebe zum Tanz machen
die Mitglieder die einzigartige Kunstform des
Balletttanzes auch außerhalb der Wiener
Staats- und Volksoper einem breiten Publikum
zugänglich.
Die große Balleröffnung ist der Höhepunkt
eines jeden Wiener Balls! Wenn die impo­
santen Klänge von Carl Michael Ziehrers
Fächerpolonaise ertönen, zieht das Jung­
damen- und Jungherrenkomitee der renom­
mierten Tanzschule Elmayer ein, um den
Ballabend feierlich zu eröffnen. Bevor es für
unsere Gäste „Alles Walzer“ heißt, tanzen
rund 50 heimische und internationale Debü­
tantenpärchen in edlem Frack und schnee­
weißem Ballkleid eine schwungvolle Choreo­
grafie zu „Pizzicato-Polka“ und „Rosen aus
dem Süden“ von Johann Strauss.
The grand opening is the unparalleled high­
light of the Viennese ball season. Once
the band strikes up the first few bars of
Carl Michael Ziehrer’s Fan Polonaise, the
young debutantes from the world-famous
Elmayer school file in, marking the formal
start to the ball evening. But before the words
“Alles Walzer” ring out, declaring the dance
floor open to all comers, around 50 debu­
tantes from Austria and farther afield, decked
out in tails and pure white ball gowns, will
entertain guests with a beautfifully choreo­
graphed interpretation of Pizzicato Polka
and Roses from the South by Johann Strauss.

choreographing HOFBURG Silvesterball
this year.
