Trail Boss’s Report
Yetta Hey Princesses and Dads,
Well we made it through another winter !
I hope everyone enjoyed all the events during the first months of the year. Now
that Spring is finally hear we have a bunch of great events coming up. Putt-Putt
will be at a new location this year check the flier in this issue. The Memorial Day
parade is right around the corner. Wear all your princess attire and let’s have the
biggest group in the parade.
Spring Camp sign-ups were held at the April Frontier meeting, If you missed the
meeting you may still be able to get in. Check the flier in this issue and give me a
call. You don’t want to miss out on all the fun at camp.
By the time you get this letter the Car Race and Fair may have passed. If not this
is a great chance for your Outpost to earn some money by running a booth selling
food or having a game. Contact the Officers in charge ( Sam Santabarbara or
Keith Leggott )It is a fun way to spend the day with your Outpost.
At the June Frontier meeting, we will be having the annual sign contest. Bring
your sign and your daughters for a chance to win a trophy. Be prepared to tell us
about your sign for judging.
See you at the next event.

From the Guides Federation Navigator
Yetta Hey,
I want to start by thanking the Adventure Princess O ffice rs, Dads and Moms that showe d up to
work our annual Night at the Races Fundraise r on Sat March 15 th. The e vent was a total success thanks to
these individuals who showe d up and worke d ve ry hard to ensure the attendees had a good time.
I would also like to comment on the two office rs that run the Princess organization, your Trail
Boss Russ Lakatos and Asst. Trail Boss Phil Thorne . These two office rs are ve ry hard working individuals
and the Princess O rganiz ation should be ve ry proud to have these two guys le ading the Frontie r this year
and next.
As we move now into the se cond quarte r of our year in Guides and Princesses I am seeing that
our two groups are coming togethe r like ne ve r be fore . Whe re there use d to be friction be tween our two
groups the re is now cooperation and compromise . This will only bene fit both organiz ations and strengthen
us to be come bette r. Our groups are the same by nature but diffe rent in name and activities. With that, we
all stand to get be tter by learning how the othe r group does things with the unde rstanding that just because it is diffe rent doesn’t mean it’s not good for the group.
At the start of this last ye ars re cruiting season Russ and I made a ple dge to strengthen the bond
be tween our two great organizations that we both felt had been weakene d by years of backbiting and misunde rstanding of how the othe r group ope rate s. What will tell you is, I can see that those years of e rosion
have turne d into a ye ar of building. So much so that the 2008 Asst Trail Boss Phil Thorne and the 2008
Compass Beare r Jason Ste phens (the e qual to the AP Asst Trail Boss) have already begun to put toge the r a
strategy for the 2009 re cruiting season. Look for furthe r coope ration between the two groups as I have
talke d to Russ and Phil about ge tting the entire O ffice r Corps from both organizations togethe r in a kind
of quasi Summit. This way we can meet each othe r, get to know more about how the othe r group works
and all be come re cruite rs for not only our own organization but the othe rs as well. Both organiz ations
have expe rience d a drop in membe rship. Partially due to e conomic factors and partially due to demographics. Eithe r way, the numbe rs are down. Russ and I agree d that if nothing is done and we both continue d to ope rate “business as usual” we may only have 5 years or so left be fore both groups would by nece ssity end up merging and we both agree d that is some thing that we ne ve r want to see happen. The Bigcreek
Fe deration and the Bigcreek Frontie r are two ve ry spe cial groups as Guides and Princesses are concerne d.
If you look at the surrounding communities the y eithe r have no AG/AP program or it is a mini organiz ation that is combine d and Russ and I feel those groups have lost the true meaning and spirit of why the
Guides and Princesse s we re forme d.
So he re is what I will leave you with. If you know a dad who is in the othe r organization and you
see him out in his AG/AP sweatshirt or T-shirt introduce yourself tell him “Ye tta Hey!” good to see you!
Go to the Fe de ration mee tings and Frontier meetings. Mee t the othe r great dads just like you that made a
commitment to their child and lets’ all toge ther continue to build a strong “ADVENTURE” program!

ready for our meeting at the Conner's to start our Dad's car. We’re working hard on our Daughter's cars also. See
you all at the race!!
Fireflies: The Fireflies had at great time at the Father Daughter Dinner. The dinner was delicious and dancing

Friends Always!
Grey Wolf: no report
Mighty Pandas: T he Pandas were ready to come out of a long winter’s hibernation on March 8 th for a tour of
the Seven Hills Fire Station. However, this season’s worst snowstorm shut down a lot of cities, and the Fireman
were out on a call. T herefore, we went back into hibernation. The Pandas plan to speak with Punxsutawney Phil
about his predictions! We will reschedule our visit for April, as we strive for our Health & Safety recognition.
Shooting Stars: The Shooting Stars enjoyed the Father Daughter Dinner Dance as it is always one of the best
events. The girls enjoyed dressing up and dancing and the dads enjoyed themselves as well too. The gang is looking forward to some warmer weather and going to Spring Camp.

The Rock’in Cowgirls – Here in the “Rockin’ Cowgirls” stable we are all relaxing
and getting ready for the car race. We had a blast running the games at the “Egg
Hunt”. We kinda lost control towards the end, it was a massive sword fight with the
putt putt sides(pool noodles)!!! We will blame it on “Condiment-M an” A.K.A. Patrick!! Great job Bruce, and all who helped him make the “Egg Hunt” a blast!!!!
That’s about it here, short and sweet!!!!
The Northern Lights – The Northern Lights had a great time working two events at
the start of the year. We worked the 2nd half of the bowling event and we also ran the
registration, raffle, and the egg hunt at the Easter party. All the dads and daughters
enjoyed our first winter camp. We would of liked more snow but the girls quickly
learned how to sled on slope covered in gravel. We all dressed in our best and arrived
in numbers for our first Father/Daughter Dance. What a great time was had by all.
The Northern Lights Shining above the rest !!!!

dinner for M ay. The dads and Daughters worked serving food during the Egg Hunt and all went well.
The Dads are looking forward to winning the trail boss race at the Car race. Dads and Daughters are
looking forward to our last trip to Camp Fitch. It is by far the favorite of the Dads and the girls.

It must be Spring… Fluffs are popping up all
over!
A short play…
Princess: “ Are you an officer of the Big Creek Frontier?”
Officer: “Why yes, I am. And are you an Adventure Princess?”
Princess: “ May I please have some flu ffs?”
Officer: “ Yes, you may.”
So, how often have you been the princess in the little play above? What? You have never
flu ffed, or you have not flu ffed lately? Well, I know this past winter was tough, but spring
is here and maybe with all of the blooming flowers we should also start seeing more princesses on the prowl for flu ffs.
Why do we fluff?
Your flu ff trail is just like your collection of patches on your vest. Both tell an important story. They tell the story of your time in
Adventure Princesses. Each flu ff in your flu ff trail represents a special time as a princess. The tradition of the flu ffs actually goes
back to the American Indians. An American Indian earned feathers by doing things that the tribe considered great. Feathers were not
simply found or taken. They were earn ed by doing good things and they were always given. So the tradition passed down first to
Indian Princesses and then to Adventure Princesses. You earn your flu ffs by attending events (a great thing for you, your outpost and
our Adventure Princess Nation) and by seeing (hunting?) Adventure Princess Offi cers.
When do we fluff?
There are four times to earn flu ffs:
1. Attending events. Many events automatically earn you a fluff. Offi cers can not be flu ffed at an event.
2. Attend the scheduled flu ff raids. These are held every summer and every winter.
3. Attend the officer’s meeting on the 4th Thursday of every month.
4. Fluff an o fficer in public (they should always have their fluffs with them.) Or better yet, do your own raid of a few o ffi cer
homes the next time your outpost gets together. You may want to call (officer’s names, addresses and phone numbers are on
the back of the Running Waters) to make sure they are home. Then again, maybe not. J
How do we fluff?
Once you spot an officer just walk up to him and use the questions from the play at the top.
So, now you know about flu ffing…
And it is time for you and your outpost to start building onto your own personal story.
Notes

HEY THERE PRINCESS ES !!! My name is Annamarie Talarico. My dad, S al, and I are in the Mighty
Purple Panther Outpost of the Forest Nation. My princess name is S hooting Star. I am 9 years old and
in the 4th grade at Holy Family Elementary S chool. What I like most about school is Math Class. My
favorite TV show is America’s Next Top Model. My favorite books are the Katie Karoo S witcharoo
books. My favorite song is Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy. My favorite food is S alisbury S teak and I
just love Chocolate Cake for dessert. Besides Adventure Princesses, I am involved in S occer, Gymnastics, Tennis, Volleyball, and Baseball. My favorite Princesses event is S pring Camp at Camp Fitch and
my favorite craft was the corkboard I made at Y-Noah. The most fun thing our outpost did was when we
went to the Kiln and I painted a bowl shaped like a pig. For a new Adventure Princess event, I think we
should all go to Hawaii. The funniest thing my dad ever did was when he put on a blue wig and then a
blonde wig. The trail of fluffs on my headband is 25 inches. I have 57 patches on my vest and I have 60
beads on my necklace.

Recycling Fund-Raiser
Don’t throw out those used Print Cartridges and Cell Phones!
Let Us recycle them for $$$ MONEY $$
We recycle Inkjet cartridges
Laser Jet Toner Cartridges
And no longer used Cell Phones
We accept all makes and models* (See note)
It’s easy, just drop them off at any Frontier meeting or Princess Event and we’ll take care of
the rest.
All money earned goes directly back into the organization.
This is the easiest Fund-Raiser we’ve ever done.
Please try and have the LaserJet Cartridges in their original box or some sort of wrapping to
protect them. If they arrive damaged we don’t get credit for them. They must also be from
the manufacturer; NO third party remanufactured cartridges will be accepted.
Make sure the inkjet cartridge doesn’t say “For single use only”. We don’t get credit for
those either. If in doubt check out the qualifying list or just drop them off and I’ll go
through them.
If you drop off a cartridge or cell phone make sure you label what outpost is dropping it off
or you won’t get credit for it.
