DSAH 20 14 The Down Syndrome Association of Houston's Mission is to provide programs and support to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the professionals who serve them, and to create awareness in the community through advocacy, education and medical outreach. Celebrating 40 Years of Love & Hope 2014 marked 40 years of celebrating Love & Hope in our community. With a wonderful home, close to 2,000 members and a strong bond, we can definitely say that DSAH is here to stay. “DSAH is our extended family” ~ DSAH Member We envision a world in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance the quality of life, realize their life aspirations, and become accepted as a wonderfully normal part of a very diverse community. We invite the Houston community to get involved with DSAH. This is a great opportunity for the community to learn about Down syndrome. Our volunteers are a valuable asset that assist with childcare during conferences, trainings, dancing at our Club 21 events, setting up for World Down Syndrome Day or at the Buddy Walk. We change perspectives profoundly by helping volunteers understand that life with Down syndrome is both ordinary and remarkably fulfilling. Thank you and congratulations to Ruth Lore Mason! This tool is to be used when assessing individuals with disabilities in long term services.
