Way to go! Daytime Hours Monday thru Friday 8:00 am–12:15 pm and 12:45 pm–5:30 pm Wednesday & Thursday Evenings until 6:00 pm Saturdays 9:00 am–Noon Many people have plans to travel after they finish school. However, Nadine Bahlqe, 17, is graduating from Lake Fenton High School this spring and has already been to Spain, Italy, France, London, China, South Korea, India, Japan, Singapore, Germany, and Paris. “I definitely enjoyed high school. People say it’s the ‘best four years of your life’ but it’s really not. It was fun,” Bahlqe said. She will attend Florida State University going into the medical field to become at Veterinarian. Bahlqe chose Florida State University because it’s “basically Michigan State but with better weather.” People were friendly when she visited back in November, she said. After college and graduate school, Bahlqe wants to settle down south, mainly because of the weather. “Hopefully, if everything goes right, I want to open my own veterinarian practice in Georgia,” Bahlqe said. Bahlqe has also been to school in Japan, where she attended an international school for first- through third-grade. The biggest cultural difference was the attendance policy. Bahlqe’s school in Japan didn’t enforce attendance because they wanted to encourage kids to travel. Bahlqe’s family is originally from Germany and she goes to visit every year. The main cultural difference between Germany and the U.S. is “things that are insulting here would be normal there,” Bahlqe said. She didn’t like Paris because the people were rude and it was dirty, but she loved Spain.
