American people.

Because they are unknown, these power brokers and influencers are seldom
the object of the most powerful force in the universe—the power of prayer to
the true and living God. If the Scriptures had been written in this century, would
not the exhortation to pray for those exercising governmental power over us
have been expanded to include those exercising media influence? I think so.
Celebrities, TV programs, the music industry, and those who fill Internet blogs,
video and marketing sites, Twitter, and Facebook all touch our lives every day
with messages . . . messages that change us. They deserve our prayers.
After more than three decades of meeting and working with top professionals
in media, I can tell you that many of them seek personal peace, unconditional
love, unqualified forgiveness, and spiritual power to optimize their lives. While
research demonstrates that most have jettisoned any vestige of personal faith in
exchange for a more secular world view, some do have a vital belief or are just
“one miracle away” from having one.
I call upon you to pray earnestly for these people—both media gatekeepers
and cultural influencers. Pray for God’s personal impact on their lives, for His
guidance and wisdom for them, and for them to come to a deeper relationship
with Him. Pray for God to infuse the mighty power of media with messages that
uplift, inspire, and unify.
Our responsibility is to pray for these leaders. Theirs is to decide whether
or not to allow Him to work in and through them for great, pure, and noble
purposes.
