“Le Marché des Fêtes,” Unique Holiday Boutique
Benefiting the Louisiana Landmarks Society’s Pitot House
Le Marché des Fêtes is a unique holiday boutique benefiting the historic Pitot House, home of the
Louisiana Landmarks Society on Bayou St. John. Shoppers are invited to visit with Papa Noël, groove
to guitarist John Rankin, shop for one-of-a-kind handmade art and accessories and Mignon Faget
jewelry, purchase great books autographed by their favorite New Orleans authors, munch on tasty
local and exotic treats, and much more. With home and garden gifts and holiday decorations galore,
the Pitot House lawn will be a magical market land for one delightful day.
Le Marché des Fêtes is more than a holiday market-- at this celebration, shoppers and visitors will
experience the Pitot House's history and culture. Artisans will demonstrate on the grounds of the c.
1799 Creole colonial-style Pitot House. Visitors will also be able to tour inside the house where they
will see traditional greenery in the Creole taste by Perfect Presentations Floral Design and learn
about Creole holiday celebrations.

 Photographs with Papa Noël, by photographer Jana Mahoney, high-quality 4x6 prints for
purchase on the spot between 10 AM and 3 PM!
 Students from ENCORE Academy performing holiday songs from 10-11 AM
The Louisiane Vintage Dancers (LVD) of Baton Rouge will perform 19th-century dances in
Regency-period costumes and mingle with shoppers from 11AM-1PM.
Live music by John Rankin, well known local solo guitarist from 1-3 PM.
 Book signings throughout the day (in coordination with Pelican Publishing and other
presses) will include: Johnette Downing, Ashley Merlin, Diane de las Casas, David Spielman,
Earl Hampton, Jr., Stephanie Bruno, Cecilia Dartez, Phil Sandusky, Jack Stewart, Rene Brunet,

 Crafting demonstrations by YAYA-string art; Mary Cooper—
caning; and Tomio Thoman—satsuma citrus cello, which
guests can taste!
 Local and exotic delicacies, including donated Italian cookies
and cannoli from Angelo Brocato's; delicious gumbo z’herbes
and jambalaya from Crescent Pie and Sausage; Bayou Brew
Wellness Tea; Alligator cheesecake and shrimp and tasso
pasta from Jacques-Imo's & Crabby Jack's; Calas with
demonstrations by Babs Ryan; Savory teats from Cafe Degas;
Pitot House pamplemousse preserves; and herbed oils &
vinegars.
 Itemized Raffle: Guests will have the chance to win plenty of
great prizes at our raffle including: a cooking lesson for two
from New Orleans Cooking Experience, a two night stay at
the Prince Conti Hotel, passes to Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, a
gift card to Massey's Outfitters, a crystal ball reading by Sallie Glassman, five sessions of

Landmarks Society members. All food and beverage sales at the market will
support Landmarks’ stewardship of the Pitot House.

Established in 1950, the Louisiana Landmarks Society promotes historic
preservation through education, advocacy, and operation of the Pitot House.
Through its annual New Orleans’ Nine Most Endangered Sites List, the
preservation organization aims to build awareness of architecturally and
historically significant places in New Orleans that are in danger of being lost.
