Dr. James Wells and Dr. Phillip
Brintle would like to welcome Dr.
Zara Hernandez to our team. She
is native of Jamaica but has made
North Carolina her home for over
17 years. Growing up in Jamaica,
she was introduced to dentistry at a
young age by a relative in his dental
practice, who nurtured her interest
in the exciting field of dentistry. After
attending Campbell University, she
pursued her passion for dentistry at
the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. She

went on to complete a General Practice
Residency at UNC Hospitals treating
Hernandez
medically compromised patients in
the clinic and operating room setting, as well as where she spent
part of her time as a Chief resident. Additionally, part of her training
lead her to the Orange County Health Department where she treated
children in the undeserved population and The Durham VA where she
treated veterans of all ages. This training was all encompassing which
included training in advanced general dentistry procedures such as
oral surgery including wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting and
sinus lifts, root canals and working with special needs patients. With
her desire to learn more, she completed extensive training in oral and
IV sedations, Six-months-Smiles, and lnvisalign. Also, she earned her
fellowship with the lCOl-International Congress of Oral lmplantologists
for advanced implant placement and restorations. Dr. Hernandez is an
active member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the American
Dental Association, She enjoys all facets of dentistry and she brings to
the practice years of experience, a calming demeanor and an affinity
to create beautiful smiles that last a lifetime. When Dr. Hernandez
is not practicing dentistry, she enjoys spending time
with her family, being an active member
of her church, traveling, learning different
languages (she is already fluent in three
including Spanish) and her book
club.
